There are some very important things happening in Kenya that this blog is talking about but everybody is ignoring them and rushing straight to this breaking story on Gado’s controversial Sunday Nation cartoon.
I have just received a very hot email from Dar based on a headline in a newspaper there this morning. Read the excerpts for yourself;

Envoy deplores unfair coverage
The newly appointed Kenyan High Commissioner to Tanzania Mr Boaz Mbaya has distanced his government from a spate of negative Kenyan media reports on Tanzania and advised the government to take urgent measures through diplomatic channels.
The envoy who had just called in yesterday at the foreign affairs ministry in Dar-es-salaam to officially introduce himself, described the published materials as ‘bad taste.’
He admitted that he was aware of the negative coverage already published, especially the cartoon carried out by one weekly Kenyan newspaper recently.
“Would you please take it from me that I was personally disturbed with them, and my government has no connection with any of the sentiments expressed? I implore Tanzanian envoy to Kenya to follow up the matter, to enable appropriate action to be taken,” he said.
WOW. I am utterly amazed at the sort of envoys that Kenya is sending out these days. They arrive at a country and land feet first (firing from the hip) with their mouths wide open and talking. They never take time to settle and understand the new country before talking. First there was the US case and now this guy.

I think you need to temper your commenting on TZ - Kenyan issues. Throw in more positive comments about TZ. I am no longer a KBW member because of my scathing attack on Pres Kikwete.

I dont think people should be worried of saying what they think about other people, Tanzanians, for instance. As long as they are ready to be challenged and engaged in a civil debate or conversation.

Wake-up Kenyans Tanzania is not the same, the country is on the rise, you guys need to be happy and not attack our development!!. We may speak broken English but Kenyans speaks both broken English and Swahili!!. We dont have 20 years because there is more poor people in Kenya than in Tanzania and Uganda, you may evaluate the facts.

ReplyDeleteAll the media in Tz are in a buzz now reporting that "Kenyan police" have invaded their territory in Tarime- Mara region and shot to death two Tanzanians and injuring others. According to the report they also abducted two girls... ???
Ok according to me I think the report wants to fuel something bwana ati Kenyan Police???? Anywayz I feel very sorry for the destruction of life in that area. Basically I suspect that the attack involved armed pastrolists and something to do with grazing or cattle.
