The Forbidden Consultation: Banned in Public, Consulted in Secret: The Bizarre Rituals of Desperate Leaders Like Ruto

When a regime realizes it has lost the people, it stops looking for voters and starts looking for something much darker, history tells us

There is an old, unwritten law of power that every major political leader knows, but absolutely none of them will ever admit to you on a live television mic.
When everything is going well—when the economy is booming, when the citizens are happy, and when your political rallies are packed with cheering crowds—you talk about democracy. You talk about the constitution, you talk about the rule of law, and you praise the power of institutions. You wear your sharp, expensive suits, stand behind podiums, and present yourself as a modern, forward-thinking, civilized leader.
But what happens when the wheels completely fall off?
What happens when your rallies turn completely empty? What happens when you realize that despite spending millions of shillings to bus people in, the public completely detests you? What happens when your citizens look right through your propaganda and treat your official state speeches like a complete joke?
The answer is simple: panic sets in. Absolute, cold, paralyzing terror takes over. And history shows that when a top leader falls into total desperation, the modern suit comes off, the civilized façade completely shatters, and they start looking for answers in the dark, supernatural world.
This isn't a conspiracy theory. This isn't a movie script. This is an undeniable historical and spiritual fact that is playing out right now inside the borders of Kenya.
Right now, our leadership is doing the absolute opposite of everything they claimed they would do. They stood on public platforms and called their opponents waganga. But behind closed doors, away from the prying eyes of journalists and regular citizens, a completely different story is unfolding. The forbidden is being embraced. The very things that were once outlawed are now being consulted in the dead of night.
If you think our current political crisis is just about budgets, taxes, and tribal alliances, you are completely missing the real, terrifying undercurrent. The leadership has entered the exact same dark phase that destroyed one of the most powerful kings in ancient history.

The Night King Saul Broke His Own Law
To understand the sheer hypocrisy and desperation happening in Kenya today, we have to look at the historical breakdown of King Saul.
When Saul first took power, he wanted to clean up the kingdom. He issued a strict national decree banning all Waganga—the witches, the mediums, and the spiritual consultants who claimed to speak to the dead. He made it a capital offense against the state constitution. People were severely hunted down, arrested, and punished just for talking to these spiritual mediums. The king wanted everyone to think he was pure, holy, and completely reliant on legitimate authority.
But then, the tide turned. The young shepherd boy David started drawing massive, unbought crowds. The spirit of leadership left Saul completely. He looked out at his borders and saw a massive enemy army moving in, and his own soldiers were shaking with fear. He felt totally isolated, cut off, and completely desperate.
So, what did the great king do?
He didn't call a council of his top military generals. He didn't review his state strategies. Instead, he threw off his royal robes, put on a thick, heavy disguise so his own citizens wouldn't recognize him, and snuck out into the dead of night. He walked straight down into a dark, hidden cave to find a Muganga—a medium who could summon spirits from the underworld.
When he arrived, the Muganga was absolutely terrified. She broke into a cold sweat because she knew she was breaking the king’s own law. She told him, "You know what the king has decreed! Why are you trying to trap me and get me killed?"
Imagine the absolute insanity of that moment. The very man who wrote the law was sitting in the dark, paying a criminal to break it, just to save his own skin. Saul swore a secret oath that she wouldn't be punished, and then he demanded that she bring up the spirit of the departed prophet Samuel.
What rose out of the ground that night didn't save King Saul's kingdom. It didn't give him a magical strategy to win the upcoming battle. Instead, it delivered a chilling, five-word message that made his knees buckle and left him face-down on the dirt in absolute horror. The spirit looked at the desperate king and told him in a nutshell: "It is all over for you."

Kenya's Modern Parallel: Being the Waganga
Now, let's bring this straight home to Kenya. Look closely at the actions of our current regime.
When a leader starts doing the absolute opposite of what he explicitly promised the voters he would do, what does that tell you? Think back to all the public declarations, the religious crusades, and the heavy spiritual positioning this regime used to climb into power. They told us they were against certain dark spiritual forces. They positioned themselves as holy, clean, and entirely different from the old political guard.
Yet, currently, there are so many shocking things our leader is doing behind closed doors that he swore he would never do. The regime has secretly entered a cold sweat of desperation. They are watching their national support evaporate into thin air. They are seeing an unstoppable union form between Rigathi Gachagua, Edwin Sifuna, and the Linda Mwananchi movement.
They know that the math no longer works in their favor. They know that if an election happens, they will be utterly wiped out. And so, just like King Saul, have they begun to reach into the forbidden supernatural tool kit?

The International Laughing Stock
When a government loses its spiritual mantle and turns to dark, hypocritical consultations, the physical effects show up immediately on the international stage. You cannot hide a rotting foundation for long.
Look at how Kenya is viewed by the rest of the world right now. We have officially become a complete laughing stock at global summits like the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
When wealthy, powerful Western countries travel to the UNGA, they show up with tiny, highly efficient delegations of two or three key people. They are there to do real business. But how does Kenya show up? We turn up with a massive, bloated entourage of hundreds of people—politicians, cronies, family members, and hangers-on—all flying business class and spending taxpayers' money like there is no tomorrow.
The international community looks at this behavior and laughs. They make jokes at the expense of Kenya. They make jokes directly at the expense of our national leader. It is embarrassing, it is humiliating, and it is a clear physical sign that the global respect for this regime has completely vanished.
Bila kizungu mingi—without wasting any words—this international ridicule is the clearest sign you will ever get that the mantle has shifted already. It is completely over. It is just a matter of time before the final collapse happens.
But what exactly did the Muganga tell our leaders during their secret consultations? What terrifying entities have they accidentally invited into the halls of power while trying to save their failing regime?
There is a shocking, historical secret about "familiar spirits" that most ordinary Kenyans have never heard of. It is a secret that explains exactly why certain families stay in power for decades while others are completely destroyed.

Is the Regime Collapsing? 4 Signs of Upcoming Political Instability

The 4 Walls Closing In: Is the End Near for the Current Regime?
Political analysts across Kenya are starting to agree on one chilling reality: President Ruto is running out of room to maneuver. As we hurtle toward the next general election, the "hustler" playbook that worked so well in 2022 is facing a landscape that has shifted beneath his feet. The options have narrowed down to just four. And as Chris Kumekucha breaks it down in his latest analysis, none of them lead to a comfortable seat.
The Death of the Old Playbook

The first option—and perhaps the one the regime is most tempted by—is simply to repeat the 2022 strategy. This involves going ahead with original plans to "rig" the outcome and force a return to power. But there is a massive problem: the Kenyan voter of 2026 is not the same person they were four years ago.

Between 2022 and now, the learning curve for Kenyans has been incredibly steep. In the past, successful regimes relied on controlling information, keeping the public misinformed or silent. But today, the internet transmits information at lightning speed. We’ve seen the Ol Kalou by-elections serve as a real eye-opener, teaching citizens exactly how to protect their votes. This flow of information has even birthed what some call the "Internet President," Edwin Sifuna—a Cinderella candidate who rose from the digital noise to challenge the status quo. When the public knows the tricks, the magician loses his power.

The Chaos Strategy: Postponing the Inevitable

Then there’s the "nuclear option": creating a situation where it is impossible to hold elections at all. We’ve all seen the whispers on social media about a potential "state of emergency" to postpone the 2027 polls. In politics, these moves usually only work if no one sees them coming.

The reason the current administration was so successful in 2022 was that they caught the nation by surprise. But in 2026, the mood is different. The country is at a boiling point. People are talking about rigging and postponements in every corner of the web and every mainstream media outlet. When the public is already braced for a move, pulling the trigger becomes infinitely more dangerous. Kenyans are unlikely to accept any delay that keeps the current regime in power a day longer than the constitution allows.

A Lesson from the Ghost of 2002

Perhaps the most fascinating path is the one once walked by Daniel Toroitich arap Moi. In 2002, the intelligence was clear: KANU was going to lose. Moi, an experienced politician, didn't just walk away; he sent negotiators to the incoming regime. His leverage? He was the one holding the keys to the handover.

Moi eventually took a chopper to his Kabarak farm, but the "deal" he thought he had quickly began to crumble. He was tailed by intelligence and faced a parliament that wanted him behind bars for past crimes. Then, something happened that most Kenyans still cannot explain: Raila Amollo Odinga—the man with the permanent physical scars from Moi's detentions—stepped in to save his former oppressor. Why did Raila save the man who caused him so much pain? The answer is a masterclass in the "deep state" of Kenyan power plays, and it’s a warning to any leader thinking a "handover deal" is a guaranteed safety net.

The Most Viable (and Most Controversial) Path

This brings us to the fourth option: the one move that requires a level of foresight most leaders simply don't possess. It involves stepping down before the year 2027 even arrives.

There is a world of difference between leaving power while you still control the country and trying to negotiate your future after you’ve already lost an election and the people are in the streets. If a regime resigns early, they choose the time, the place, and the terms. They remain flexible.

Yet, history tells us that leaders rarely see the end coming. They wait until the exit doors are locked from the outside and the crowd is at the gate. Is the current administration the exception to the rule, or are we watching a slow-motion collapse?

Watch the full breakdown here to see which option Chris thinks is the most likely to unfold.
