The emerging bombshell in Kenyan politics is that the Finance Bill has been passed by parliament but is doomed from here on. In other words the Finance bill has passed and even been signed into law by President Ruto BUT there are still too many dark figures waiting for it at dark corners all over the place and it will most likely get "mugged" at some point.
And there are several pointers.Reason one;
A handful of powerful workers unions are doing press-ups and sit-ups and preparing themselves for industrial action.

Reason two;
Court action. Now maybe you've heard of only one particular case the truth is there are multiple cases in court quoting various sections of the Constitution giving various solid reasons as to why the finance bill 2023 should be a non-starter
Reason number three;
Simply put, mandamano, mass action and boycotts. If you live in the country called Kenya and especially Nairobi you're very much aware of the mood on the ground contrary to what some social media outlets and UDA bloggers are trying to sell as the reality on the ground.
To sum it up, if the finance bill manages to weather the storm of the courts, it will then find workers unions waiting for it. And if it somehow manages to deal with workers unions by some miracle then there'll be something else called maandamano waiting for it in some dark alley. And to make matters even more grim for the controversial bill, all these three-pronged attack against it will hit the ground running, sprinting, almost at the same time.
I spoke to a tax expert, somebody who was working deep inside the KRA Kenya Revenue Authority and they gave me some mind-blowing information. Apparently when the Mwai Kibaki administration came to power in early 2003, tax collection at the Kenya Revenue Authority shot up very dramatically and KRA broke all tax collection records. BUT during Kibaki's second term after the 2008 clashes, tax collection dropped very dramatically.
Clearly tax compliance and collection has a lot to do with the legitimacy of a government.
