Ignoring The Value of a Running Mate?

The choice of a running mate should be a well calculated move to not only complement the main candidate but to also bag votes from an area that would otherwise have been a challenge. But in Kenya we have seen some very strange reasons for choice of running mate. Will it come back to haunt the candidates?
