The Difference Between Ruto's Campaign and Uhuru's Campaign

The campaigns of William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta, both prominent political figures in Kenya, reflect distinct strategies and political priorities. Ruto's 2022 campaign was centered around the "hustler" narrative, emphasizing empowerment of ordinary citizens, particularly those from lower economic backgrounds, with a focus on economic transformation and grassroots development. His campaign resonated with many Kenyans struggling with poverty, promising to reduce inequality and offer opportunities for upward mobility.

On the other hand, Uhuru Kenyatta's campaigns, especially in 2013 and 2017, were more focused on national unity, infrastructure development, and economic growth at a broader level. Uhuru, backed by a strong political dynasty, sought to consolidate power among the elite while focusing on large-scale infrastructure projects like roads, energy, and industrialization. The contrast between the two is evident in their approach to governance—Ruto's populist, bottom-up approach versus Uhuru's more top-down, infrastructure-driven strategy.
