3 Al Shabaab Arrests Over Mall Threats

Mercifully Kenya has not witnessed any major terrorist attack for some time. Some analysts claim that the terror group al Shabaab has greatly been weakened. It would seem that the continued presence of KDF in Somalia as well as constant drone attacks by the US army, one of which killed the former terror groups' supremo Ahmed Godane, have borne fruit.

But a few hours ago police exploded into action and arrested two men and a woman in connection to a planned mall attack by al Shabaab in Canada. This comes shortly after security officials a few days ago warned shoppers in Canada, the United States and Britain to be on guard after al Shabaab terrorists posted a video calling for attacks on Western malls. Interestingly some of the threats on the video were quite specific and one of the targets pointed out was Mall of America in the US state of Minnesota. Interestingly that state has the highest concentration of immigrant Somalis in the US.
