Margaret Wanjiru And Pastor Pius Muiru In Politics: The Untold Story Behind The Public Anger

Experts Say That It Is A Sign That The Political Ruling Class Should Not Ignore

Right across Kenya, some very fierce and emotional debate is currently going on, all triggered off by a recent chain of events that has thrust Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and Pastor Pius Muiru into the limelight and indeed under public scrutiny for many things but mostly for the vast wealth that the pair are said to own as a result of their work for the Lord.

Listening to Kenyans, the ruling emotion in most people is one of anger. Anger at the vast wealth accumulated in what most believe is at the expense of ordinary Kenyans' struggling to survive under harsh and difficult times. It is very weird indeed how rapidly public opinion can change and there is no denying that the work of the two well known Kenyan television evangelists depends very heavily indeed on the right public sentiments and image.

Admittedly, of the two preachers most of the debate is centered on Bishop Margaret Wanjiru (the story that will just not go away) and how she angrily dismissed a man who claims to be her former husband and the father of her two boys. Yet the bigger story should be that of Pastor Pius Muiru who wants to be the next president of Kenya.

Why more interest in Bishop Wanjiru? It is partly because the rag-to-riches story of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has captured the imagination of many Kenyans across the nation. Throw in the public utterances that have effectively cornered the Bishop, plus an incident where journalists were roughed up, and you have the aura of mystery that creates endless debates and intense public interest.

But there is an untold side of the story that in all the current madness augurs well for the nation. And this is really something only the spiritual can understand.

For a long time now, experts and analysts in spiritual matters have pointed to certain weaknesses in some of the major church organizations that have sprung up in recent years. Their main argument has been that the structures of these new churches are such that the leader of the ministry has no covering or higher authority both for their own protection and that of the souls they oversee. These authorities, apart from overseeing the way in which the organization is run (including the thorny issue of finances) are the "court of appeal" in church matters involving members and the leaders of the particular ministries. Mainstream churches have very rigid structures that do just this and even some new church organizations, albeit many of which have not grown as rapidly as the ones now under spotlight also have them.

Those who believe strongly in covering have said again and again that having no cover or higher authority is like building a house and leaving it without a proper roof. All may seem okay for a while, at least until that day that it will rain. Well, the day of rain has arrived and the results are there for all to scrutinize and debate openly.

The good news, these same analysts and observers of church matters say, is that for a long time it has been predicted that the day for judgment for the Kenyan political class was coming. Many in the church looked forward to it gleefully without understanding one fundamental principal of the Almighty. Just as they say charity begins in the home, God's judgments always begins in HIS own house.

This means that if this theory is correct, then on a date not very far from today, we shall see what the political class have dreaded with all their hearts for a long time and yet what many ordinary citizens have shed tears and even blood in wishing for. The judgment of those who have stolen and raped the nation of Kenya and murdered the innocent and yet still seek to spread lies and propaganda in a desperate effort to put off the inevitable.

Indeed there is one thing that is very difficult to deny. And that is the fact that the speed at which things have moved over the last 7 days or so strongly suggests some divine hand or intervention in that seemingly petty small issues have suddenly blown and escalated into serious national concerns that look like they will have very grave repercussions on quite a number of people.
