Why We Are Headed for A Kikuyus Versus The Rest Political Contest

It is quite clear that we are headed for a major political contest and the way the cards will fall is that we will end up with the Kikuyu and some of their close allies (GEMA) on one side versus the rest of Kenya.

Already if you carefully look at the storm that is brewing up within Narc-Kenya over holding grass-roots elections, this is exactly what is happening. The latest is that leading Narc-Kenya politicians like Dunston Mungatana and Kipruto Kirwa are now threatening to leave the party.

Let us address their bone of contention without fear and let us mention it bluntly. It is nothing but Kikuyu arrogance in the Narc-Kenya high command that is causing the whole problem. The Kikuyu like to dominate and they ofen behave as if the other communities do not matter.

By the way I told you folks very early that this experiment of forming coalitions long before elections will not work. That's the reason why we have trouble in ODM-Kenya and trouble in Narc-Kenya. Get ready folks, it will only get worse and uglier.

This big Kikuyu issue is also the reason why Paul Muite was called a traitor by Martha Karua. It is also the reason why Koigi Wamwere will probably lose his parliamentary seat this time unless Kenyans wake up to what is happening. These two brave nationalistic Kikuyu leaders dared to support the other side by siding with the minimum reforms group.

If Kenyans do not face this issue openly and discuss it, the future is predictable. If our Kikuyu brothers will continue to call this blog tribalistic the moment we bring up such issues, then there is no chance for Kenya.

While all other tribes in Kenya also tend to promote tribalism, it is our Kikuyu brothers who are in a position to jump-start change in Kenya and help us end tribalism and all the evil that comes with it. By virtue of their sheer numbers and political and economic might, the truth is that Kenya cannot ignore the Kikuyu, even as many of the Kikuyu continue to ignore the rest of Kenya, firmly believing that only Kikuyus will make the best leaders in this country and that they are the only community that can be trusted to occupy State House responsibly.

Try telling most Kikuyus that having produced two presidents already, they should step aside and cheer on the other tribes of Kenya.

  1. Chris, Oh Chris! Why do you allow yourself to get carried away to make wide sweeping statements that are the fare of simpletons?

My experience is that most Kenyans, especially the semi-educated rural people and to an extent their urban counterparts as well as the political class are equally tribal! Your attempt to put the burden of addressing the tribal question at the feet of the amorphous group that is 'Kikuyu brothers' is laughably simplistic... Every single Kenyan has to take up their responsibility to overcome the tribal instinct that politicians have now craftily adopted and used effectively as a political tool!

Kikuyus have ignored the rest of Kenya? Is that another way of saying that they do not support in large numbers a party whose promoters desperately believe that it needs the Kikuyus to gain credibility as a truly national party? Convince me it isn’t, because all other factors indicate that Kikuyus see inter-tribal integration as their path to prosperity...

Kikuyus produced two presidents... So the tribe of the president of the republic is that paramount? How about this... A woman has never been a president in Kenya, its not the women's turn...There has never been a Legio Maria, SDA, ACK, Sunni Muslim, Shia Muslim, Akorino, Dini ya Musambwa etc President in Kenya... one of our own now has to be a president... Or the Asians drive the economy in Kenya through large-scale industry and enterprise, we need a president from the Asian community...

    Such hogwash!

Oh, and Koigi and Muite earn the stripes of 'Nationalistic Kenyans'... Puleeeeeeez! Ours is indeed an interesting society where making of public statements that amount to nothing more than expression of opinion, which is a constitutional right, and a rebuke by your oponents immediately qualifies you a nationalist! What about the rest of us who have no loud political statements to make but earn a just wage and pay taxes, huh?

I bet if Kiraitu or Murungaru or Mwiraria turned Orange and immediately made statements that can be deemed as sufficiently anti-government, they'd be nationalists...

Chris, everything you say is real and I respect you because you tell it with your heat on your sleeve. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. And who cares if it bruises a few egos? The truth is that the contest pitting house of Mumbi against the rest of Kenya was set up a long time ago, the confirmation of which was the Referendum. The Kikuyu brothers can cry to high heaven, and Kibaki can manipulate the opinion polls, but you and I know that Steadman & Associates don't hold the votes. Kenyans will decide. And like the late Maitha said before his number was called, the Kikuyu will never rule Kenya again.

  3. In all seriousness, why does the writer have so little confidence in the ability of other tribes to ascend to the presidency. Why can't anyone else cobble together an alliance large enough to change the government? Is it that they have nothing to bring people together since being anti-Moi is now out of fashion. To explore this idea further how come we do not see anybody becoming a champion in parliament writing and passing legislation and instead we see numerous harangues at gravesites? There is a lot of work parliament could do to right the wrongs of the last 43 years and take the initiative from the executive, but this does not seem to be a big priority... How then in a more competitive electoral field can one hope to win if one has not been putting in the work?
