Langata MP Raila Odinga surprised Kenyans recently when he told a public rally that president Kibaki was at the center of the Anglo Leasing scandal and that there was no way he was going to exonerate himself from the multi billion shilling mess.
Subsequently, he said that exiled anti corruption czar, John Githongo has more dossier on the scandal which he is about to release and this time round, it will be explosive as well as earth shaking and will leave Kenyans in shock and awe.
Having fingered two cabinet ministers, and even the Vice President, the only 'earth shaking' dossier that could be next will most probably implicate President Kibaki himself or a close relative.
And the way Raila put it, it seems that he is in constant communication with the former permanent secretary for ethics and governance who was once based right inside State house.
Many Kenyans, including this writer feel that it is no coincidence that Githongo has chosen to be active this year as Kibaki marshals his forces to prepare for his re-election assault later in the year.
There is talk in high circles that Githongo will use his dossier as a weapon to hit Kibaki where it will cuase maximum damage and politically wound him to an extent that he will never see the doors of state house again.
It has conveniently been rumoured by those in ODM-Kenya that if this comes to pass, Githongo will return to the country if ODM forms the next government and he will be rewarded with a senior government position with others claiming he could be the next head of the public service and cabinet secretary. Githongo himself while answering questions from the public in a column in the Nation last Saturday made it clear that he did not see any clean people in ODM either and would therefore not work with them. The former Ethics PS was of course referring to past scandals like the Goldenberg saga.
What is clear now is that Githongo is a man who cannot be trusted with a very senior or sensitive job, by any corrupt government, if his stint at state house is anything to go by, and if it is indeed true that he has struck some sort of deal with Raila Odinga, he will probably be rewarded with a lucrative but obscure appointment for both his and the governments good.

first of all JOHN GITHONGO IS NOT A HERO tufungueni macho this guy went to air our dirty laundry hadharani... being courageous is believing in a cause and taking the heat that comes with it!!! leaving the country and going to the country of the x-colonialists to tell of our corruption is messed up do people not see that the worth of every kenyan has been put on the line by this man? patriotism isnt just about being proud as a kenyan its also about caring about other kenyans. the guy who blew on goldenberg was a true hero in the face of adversity and even death the man remained in the country until his death!!! lets not be confused john has done a great diservice to the people of kenya by giving the west something to hold us ransom with he should never come back to this country because we are not proud of him. and now people say a man like this-who cannot be trusted with any information-can be president what the hell is that!? if we make this guy the president we might as well buy chains for the west to bind us with as we enter the second era of slavery and colonialism
