Most Kenyans Want Fresh Elections

Poll shows that 94% want fresh presidential polls

A reader here made a suggestion recently that amazed me. Before I tell you why it shocked me let me tell you what the suggestion was.

That retired President Daniel arap Moi be brought back to run an interim government to prepare the country for fresh general elections.

WOW!

Okay the fact that fresh elections is the only way to solve Kenya's problems right now is no longer in doubt. Even a vast number of Kenyans are beginning to see that. The KTN news at 9 pm carried out a live SMS poll last night asking Kenyans if they favored a repeat of the presidential elections. An amazing 94% of the respondents said YES and only a paltry 6% said NO. I can authoritatively tell you that on the ground Kenyans are more than a little fed up at the circus that has been going on since the beginning of the year and want fresh presidential elections to sort out this crisis once and for all.

Having said that, everybody knows that President Kibaki and PNU do NOT want a repeat of the presidential poll for obvious reasons. But it really is only a matter of time before Kenyans go to the polls. The reason is simple. Two provinces cannot hold out against the remaining SIX provinces for too long. Mark my words.

Currently PNU strategists may look very clever but when history is written they will be viewed as fools for the simple reason that had they agreed to share power equally with ODM the President would have in all likelihood completed his 5 year term (which he is very determined to do even if it is at great cost to human life). However since that did not happen, they will lose even that 50% of the power and most analysts agree that there is no way the current government can survive beyond the next 12 months. Military and security might or no military and security might.

Back to the Moi suggestion. The reason it amazed me so, is that it is now settled in the hearts of a vast majority of Kenyans that President Moi was a much better leader than President Kibaki. In other words the bitter truth (for some) but nevertheless the truth is that for the last 5 years or so, we have had NO leadership in the country. Mwai Kibaki is NOT a leader and time and again he has failed to show any leadership. All his rabid supporters have no genuine solid arguments to prove his leadership qualities except the fact that he comes from the same tribe as they do.

I find the Moi suggestion absolutely fascinating for several reasons. To start with Mwai Kibaki's chief adviser at the moment is none other than retired President Moi. Secondly Moi has to go down in history as one of the most corrupt African leaders ever. I mean the guy used to accept cash taken to him in brief cases. The testimony of Paul Kamlesh Pattni and that of Ketan Somaia has proved this beyond any reasonable doubt. Amongst the many evils Moi did, one of the worst was to literally destroy the Coffee industry with the sole motive of neutralizing the economic might of the Kikuyu tribe whom he was always terrified of. So the entire country suffered massive losses of income and jobs so that Moi could deal with the Kikuyus. For the record it didn't quite work the way Moi wanted it to. Instead of rushing to kneel before Moi (Baba na Mama) the industrious house of Mumbi quickly shifted to the horticultural industry and ended up making even more cash directly exporting their products all over Europe and beyond.

But despite all that, a sizable number of Kenyans obviously miss Moi badly at the moment. Politics is just amazing folks, is it not?

Still in my view the reader who made the comment was thinking in the right direction. What Kenyans need to urgently do at the moment, as painful as it will be, is to get rid of all leaders that have a fanatical following on either side of the political divide. That means President Kibaki, who is fanatically supported by the Kikuyu and a few of their Mount Kenya cousins and sadly the winner of last year's presidential elections, Hon Raila Odinga. The you have to add William Ruto to that list. Most faithful readers of this blog are fanatical Raila and Ruto supporters. And I agree it will be a great injustice to deny Raila a chance to get back the residency he genuinely won last December. However my plea to them is that Kenya is bigger than all of us, including those politicians we love so much.

I am well aware that fanatical supporters of these individuals I have just mentioned are already seeing red and will probably not get to read this paragraph which explains the solid reasons for my suggestion. The truth is that it would be suicidal to go back to the polls with both Kibaki and Raila running for president. It will NOT heal the country. Instead it will just open up old wounds. What we need are candidates who are able to garner support across the current political divide.

But even before that there is the tricky question of an interim government to run things and prepare the country for elections. That government needs to be very neutral and acceptable to both sides. Actually there is no alternative but to seek help from outside. I want to suggest what may sound ridiculous and is certainly not in the beloved constitution, but is the quickest way that the country can prepare for fresh elections.

A way must be found to constitute an interim government made up of eminent persons from Africa whose main task will be to police a free and fair election. This group should get the blessings of the African Union. Interestingly the AU at the moment is split right down the middle with some countries like Uganda fanatically supporting Kibaki, while others like Tanzania and Rwanda are with Raila Odinga and ODM.

Thank you for reading my pipe dreams. But I hasten to add that plenty of pipe dreams I have written about in this blog have become reality. I have a funny feeling that this one too will join the list.

News Just In: Transition
Jeremiah Nyagah, father of ODM pentagon member and nominated MP Joseph Nyagah, is dead. He died this morning at Aga Khan Hospital. He was also the father of the immediate former Kamukunji MP Norman Nyagah.

Jeremiah Nyagah was in the original Legco 8 of 1958 (actually the first Kenyan Africans to be elected to the National assembly). He will be remembered as a man whose main fault was that he was too decent for Kenya's dirty, selfish and cut-throat politics.

You know I can actually see Kenyans clapping and celebrating if Moi were to come back on an interim government tickedt..pipe dream or not I am ashamed that I even have to contemplate this

Thanks Chris for stating that Kibaki and Raila both who have fanatical following should now get off our backs and disappear to oblivion. However, Kibaki has already ruled for 5 years (bitter pill to swallow) while Raila still daydreams that State House should be his by birthright.

It's finally dawning on many Kenyans now- Kumekucha- included that Raila unlike Kibaki may actually NEVER occupy the big house on the hill.

Chris is definately a late convertee to this solid home truth (however late) which we have been drumming out loud and called all sorts of names over it. Karibu nyumbani Kumekucha. Sasa wewe ni wetu!

That is what i said in an earlier post. Annan refused and i imagine will refuse again to come and explain to us the letter and digit that we dont understand in portfolio balance and 50-50. Let him come and head a team that constitues the interim government. We can get equal number of representatives from each ODM and PNU. Annan seems to be the only African so far who can handle some Kenyans.

We are wasting time forcing this guys to form a coalition government because this means we may have to force them to carry out all their obligations once they get into office. If they cant do anything before David Milliband and Condy makes a phonecall, surely arent we going to have those people calling too much given the number of decisions that a government has to make.

On a lighter note, maybe we should have a branch office for Milliband and Condy here so that whenever they are not too busy huko kwao they can volunteer one in a while to help us keep "our" government to-be in check. So much for necessitating neo-colonoalism! At this point i believe it is a necessary evil.

Come on chris! Quoting KTN opinion polls on this very honourable blog? What an insult!

Chris,

I have liked your many posts but this one is an overly simplified solution to a very complex problem. My take of the many points you raise are:

New elections: Yes, new elections are the only way to decisively solve this stalemate, but if it is not done properly it may even worsen the situation. Therefore, as you rightly suggest, we cannot do this with the current ECK. It is important to reform the electoral commission before we think about elections. If my memory serves me well, ECK served reasonably well in 1997 and 2002. The reason for the two good performances can only be attributed to the composition of ECK at the respective times. Unfortunately, we failed to consolidate the gains of the 1997 IPPG's agreement to strengthen ECK further by making it independent of political manipulation and entrenching the agreement in the constitution. It appeals more to me that we should focus on this issue before we talk about elections.

Moi should come back: No he shouldn't, anyone? When Moi took over the leadership of this country he was the darling of many ordinary people. However, he became a very difficult authoritarian president in his mid and last years or presidency thanks to the constitution. The same constitution that allowed him to change from the darling of the ordinary folks in his early presidency to a despot in the last years of his presidency are still intact. Can you tell me anyone in the current political establishment that compares favourably with the Moi of 1978? My point is, whoever the angel you put in state house will quickly become a dictator. It is not because they want to, the constitution allows them to. What we need is to correct this situation.

MK, RAO and Ruto should be sent home on compulsory retirement: This suggests that with their exit of the scene, their influence will cease. No, anyone? whoever you choose to replace them will seek the support of these individuals and that support will not come free of charge. If the choosen person do not endear him/herself these individuals, (s)he will have to frame him/herself in a way that appeal to these individuals' supporters and we will be back to the same situation. It is the institutions that we need to create that make whoever becomes the president accountable. I know people have become very impatient but a quick fix will not take us any far. We need the citizen, media, NGOs and faith groups (?) to refocus us on constitutional reform/review. Constitutions are made in crisis time, this is it guys we need to cease the opportunity. If peace returns, the politician will not give priority to constitutional reform/review.

My two pence...

Nice piece.......Yes i'd rather go for elections....i will queue again for 10 hours if i have too rather than have a kiben aki president (even if it is 50-50)a man who can't make a simple decision.....Ei no way!!! when we have a cabinet with Mwangi Kiunjuri as a minister!!!You mean we have no better leaders in Kenya!!!
Moi, hapana Chris nimekata!!! Though he was a firm decision maker unlike the one who is there right now. Moi was able to make decision and stand by them.....Tell me any decision that Kibaki Has made and stood by it....Mpesa the constitution bars Kibaki, Raila no where so tuliza!!!! If Raila vies today, tomorrow i will vote for him.....Tosha yes call me a fanatic.
Sample this with Moi we had -ve economy growth but stuffs were affordable, now we have an economic growth of 7% and wacha tu!!! tomatoes mbili 15/=, 1 kg cabbage is 57/= y'days nation says the middle class is feeling nothing...uwongo na porojo....Does it mean farmers stopped tilling the land? No we pay more in form of tax, you go to a super you get taxed still, petrol station....iam sure i pay 50% and not the 30% Kimunya keeps yapping....If we are going to have an interim govt let us leave all politicians out, we sort ourselves out....otherwise very soon Zimbabwe will be like Tom & Jerry, coz Kenyaa is on a downhill now and we must act fast!!! There is an outbreak of cholera (No.Minister for health), Looming food shortage (No Min. for Agriculture) Ei and Kibaki is sitting pretty in statehouse...iam not ready to pamper him!!!!

The only reason we've not had the right leaders up to now is because the masses are not well informed. They do not know who a true leader is or what to expect from them. This is why a politician promises to build a road and gives us two kilos of suger and a pair of Lesos for our dear wives and he has the vote! Unless we launch some massive civic education campaign, we ain't going too far.

That's why the could think of Moi. In a serious society, the man should behind bars by now.

Raila may have a fanatical following but for the right reasons. He is a true leader. A visionary leader. A corrupt neutral person is unacceptable. Unless like Moi you are saying there is no neutral Kenyan who is able to lead the nation at a time of transition.

I was imagining a political scenario without fake KTN polls/Kibaki/Raila/Moi and other old skool politicians and thinking who would be most suited to take over the reigns of this great nation.

Certainly not another Kaleo or Okuyo, they have already eaten they fair share of ugali...Luos? Well, they are said to be good co-drivers but not being on the helm, Luhyas? Are said to be stepping stones to power. Kambas? They better stick obidiently in the civil service without fuss.

I definately think it's time for us Maasais "to eat!" Kwani sisi ndio hatuna tumbo?

Well Said Chris, unfortunately a THIEF is being put in the same breath as a clear winner.
Raila Odinga's ODM party offered HOPE AND REAL CHANGE for the ordinary Kenyans doing away with TRIBAL AFFILIATIONS that Kibaki and his SCAVENGING LOOTING LUNATICS at state house have courted for 5years and counting!
The situation is threatening to DEGENERATE into something much worse but ODM has ALL OVERWHELMING SUPPORT but limited choices.
It's in doubt THE THIEF AND HIS HYENA LIKE SCOUNDRELS will CONCEDE AGAIN...already he has messed up and wants Kenyans to clear his dirty mess with their blood.
Pay with your LIFE!
It is Law that we can protest AGAINST A TYRANICAL GOVT!
Raila Odiinga is standing up for the people remember his promise to Kenyans of Not Letting them down!
WE ALL KNEW KIBAKI WAS LYING form DAY 1-SHEEPISH SMILES ETC and still...HOW SHAMEFULL!
Its THURSDAY..PATIENCE ODM next few days ...Lets wait and see!
WE STILL AWAIT THE UHURU PARK SHOWDOWN!!!

Moi is a supporter of Kibaki and by putting Moi in charge again you are literary creating more problems than solving them.
The real force behind Kibaki is Moi and Biwott not Mt Kenyan as people had been made to believe.
This is retrogression if we were to allow Moi back again.
Just heed to my plea and support a neutral candidate who is able to deliver a widespread support all over the country.
Once again I nominated Tuju.
Kombo would also do very well as he is referred to as the only 'clean politician alive' in Kenya.

A recent independent survey conducted by 'Think Tank' in four districts of central Kenya, a staggering 48% said they would support a Luo president only if it not Raila Odinga. Out of those surveyed 68% were aged between 16-45. This survey was conducted to find out about ethnic attitudes in Kenya. So the picture is not as grim as people thinks.

fave said...

Chris,
I rarely tell you this, but, frankly take a hike with your pipe dream.
I asked this yesterday, why should Ruto and Raila be denied their democratic rights so as to placate some ethnic jingoism?

Raila and Ruto, just like me and You are victims of the dictator. The only person who should go to never come back is the husband of the mad woman. It is getting tiring to lump Raila, Ruto and ODM with Kibaki,
If Kikuyus can lead Luos (Kenyatta and Kibaki) Then a Luo can lead Kikuyus. In fact anybody in Kenya from ElWak to Shimoni and Lokitaung to Kehancha has the right to become president. As long as he gets votes.
Lets have a clean election, Raila vs Kibaki and will see the victor.

Thanks Ivy,
As we head deeper into this crisis Kibaki and his cronies have foistered upon us, It seems that even prior sane people like Chris are getting delusional.

An example of such is this line from raila mzuri..'Just heed to my plea and support a neutral candidate who is able to deliver a widespread support all over the country...'
My question is did Raila not get widespread support from around the country? Secondly, what does he define as a neutral candidate?
Kibaki is the culprit, everybody is a victim.

You're right Kumekucha it's not a good idea to go back to the polls with Raila and Kibaki as candidates. But Moi no way! Not in a million years!

Kibaki and Moi bear the same venom. Kibaki has compressed all of his in 5 short years. Moi spread his over a long time and got away with it because those were the days when information had not spread well enough to wananchi. When even thinking against the government could land you a reservation in the notorious Nyayo house. When publishing any truth in magazines was highly treasonable. I don't know if it still is considering the Standard Mamluki Raid. The guy ruled before SMS, E-mail and most lethal of all blogs. In the end he had all the ability to do a Mugabe but I think he did not because he realized the information age had caught up with him.

And speaking of information, masses of wananchi are still not adequately informed about what to expect of their leaders. We have come a long way but we're not yet there. That is the reason for tribal fanatical following. So among the many many things that Kenya has to do, one of them should be educating the masses some more.

A dossier which deeply implicates him in recent Eldoret clashes is slowly taking shape and it's no wonder he's laid low and stopped being the cocky little b@stard he was in January.

Come out from your bunker with your hands in air Bwana Ruto, the game is up! You can run but you can't hide, son. Your hero has made so many enemies from powerful Rift Valley power brokers to the dreaded Mt Kenya Mafiosi. I just feel sorry for the poor sad thing.

Kibaki is Rubbish, and Raila is the scum of the earth, Ruto could have been better off as a stillborn child.
Let me ask, taking away Kibaki, Raila, Kalonzo, Ruto---who r the remaining people who can offer CREDIBLE Leadership a la mode Kikwete, Kagame, Mu7 etc?

Kivuitu,Gicheru,Hussein Ali,Gichangi(NSIS),Kianga(CGS),and Michuki should be taken to the Internatinal court and charged with the death of over 5000 Kenyans.
Only then can we organise a fresh election.

Cowards. shame on you chris. In an attempt to come across as balanced or clever or whatever alot of peopl have this unclever idea that they must say something negative about ROA before they critisize the thief in chief.....fanatical following is to politics what fuel is to a car it cannot run without it. That politicians have fanatical followers is not their fault, they don't raise this people as kids we are fanatics so don't blame ROA for having dedicated followers. What your suggesting is like saying that since great soccer teams have fanatical supporters they should not play in a major final....grow up, we live in a crazy world. Try being that cool headed politician and see how many votes you get. There in no factory somewhere where RAO goes to manufacture supporters these are kenyans who have the right to go crazy about anything or anyone in their country. Its sad and unfortunate that after the many sacrifices that RAO has made to try and bring some justice to this country some people so easily lump him up with Kifucky simply because both are politicians and have fanatical following, I say shame on you, expand your thinking and grow up. Go do something that even comes close to what RAO has done. Its not time to look gift horses in the mouth. RAO is one of the best politicians we have if we fail to reward and recognize him we are sending a wrong message about sacrificing on behalf of others. ROA did what he knew best united a country at least most of it. Then he was conned now he has to make a stand against a thief and all we do is get neat picky with him.....that is totally shameless and naive. What we need is more fanatical support for RAO and Ruto and not wait for them to give any oders to protest we should just go out and show our solidarity.........you have to stand for something..

right from the beginning some bloggers here including myself said this peace deal will never work..unfortunately we were right! these things are probably not meant to work in africa...americans should not have used us as their guinea pigs....we need to have one side of the political divide installed as the government. sharing is a no-no!! we dont want it anymore!!

one of the things i have heard people say in the last few days is that ruto and raila should be barred from running for political office.....’for the sake of peace’....i had pretty much start buying in to the idea that they shouldn't but you know what? i came to my senses this morning and i think that is the stupidest thing i ever heard!! why should we bar them? to please the prejudiced mount kenya mafia? chris, only these people have a problem with raila odinga the rest of us dont!! why should we give in to their demands? barring raila and ruto is akin to saying these prejudiced lot are right chris, and they are not!!

infact if you ask me chris, i’ll tell u something, i think pnu are shouting the loudest about this impending war. they are prepared to take kenya the bloody war route simply because they are not ready to fathom that a 'kihii' can lead this country....by barring raila and ruto from running chris, this is what we shall be saying too!! i refuse to join in, in this travesty of justice...

you have also mentioned something about kibaki's 'leadership'...you are right. the guy has no leadership skills to speak of!! just look at his house, if he cannot provide leadership there, why else does anybody think he can provide it for the whole country? the man has never made a single decision since he came to power in 2002, u realise the 2002 NARC was given to him on a silver platter-he didnt even campaign for it, he only dissolved the cabinet in 2005 after raila flatly told him to his face 'si atufute'- so again he was pushed into it, the man had no desire to run for a second term but the athuri group pushed him into it and just like a lamb going for slaughter...he did it blindly....he didnt even have a party three months to the elections!! for heaven's sake, how does anyone expect the guy to make any decision now?....he was just not given those abilities am sorry to say-ati 'hands off leadership' huh!! what a laugh!!

for something/anything to happen to this country, we will have to pressure him .....again!! the man has to go home!!

chris, much as i loved moi then....i think he needs to just stay in sacho and herd his goats....the day he told us to support kibaki, ati odm was a tribal outfit!! heh!! that was the day me and him parted ways. he cannot help us if he tried!! anybody suggesting that he brought back....is an enemy!!

finally, fresh elections are a good idea…..yes!!....i mean we can go for them again to prove a point, but why on earth should anyone put us all through that again? it is so costly for the kenyan taxpayer....and we all know pnu has no chance of winning anything even if they poach everyone from everywhere-so it will just be a waste of funds!!

we know who won!! we know who will win again!! why don’t we just do something right for once this year and give the cow back to its rightful owner? yes...i know this sounds very naive....but i dont wanna be stuck here forever!!

If you read my posts they refer to the fact that to placate people like you, It is suggested that Raila should fore go his democratic rights.I say no way! with reason. I have repeatedly said if there is evidence against Ruto, bring it in the open. This dossier against him has been ongoing for four months now.

On the other hand I have not in anyway said Kibaki or any one should forego his democratic right. All I have demanded is a clean fresh elections. I accept a clean democratic victory from anyone including you.

Do you remember Jomo Kenyatta lived there with his Masaai relatives before the Second World (1945) War and worked as a clerk in Narok Town? There are a lot of things you don’t know yet darling?

Let me digress the idea of Moi being reincarnated is making me get indigestion . This morning at a briefing for an Integrated tax management system for KRA, Michael Waweru the commissioner general of the kenya revenue authority challenged the donor community to stop threatening kenya with witholding aid .He asked kenyans to question exactly which are these pledged donor funds being witheld .(The kenya revenue authority has indeed done a commendable job of revenue collection ).Waweru also asked that kenya be allowed to solve its own problems internally.

MREMBO,

Why don't you take your time to reflect and see that all your comments and alignments are fuelled by bitterness against the Kikuyus? And do you think this is a position to be proud of?

I mean, guys, if we represent the elite of the country, a generation which was supposed to bring an end to tribal animosity and install rational thought in the decision making frameworks of this country, then I can say that the future of this country lies in a failed state.

I am also deeply disturbed by comments from the likes of Ivy and Mpesa. Why can't we abandon our tribes? I for one hate my tribe and all that is associated with it. I despise African tribes because they are the seed from which the destruction of the continent shall grow.

Have a nice day.

...'Waweru also asked that kenya be allowed to solve its own problems internally...'

SimSim, Do you know why the international community intervenes? Do you know why we have international bodies and conventions likes the IC, UN Human rights convention, War crimes tribunals?
For a simple reason that the world has from history discovered that, governments, especially illegal ones, tend to abuse their own citizens.
It is laughable if Sudan told the world to let it solve the Darfur problem internally when it is it internal policies that have created the problem. Ditto Kenya.

You further mention that he Kenya revenue authority has indeed done a commendable job of revenue collection...
The collected revenue ends up lining the pockets of the very corrupt regime. So it does not matter how many silver pieces they wring out of an already impoverished populace. The silver pieces, They never help you and I and all the sundry.

While you like me is horrified at the thought of DT Moi at the helm once more, Don't you think that Michael Waweru and all of the current illegal regime, sound more and more like the Moi government?

,The difference with the current regime is that they milk the cow but give it enough to survive. The Moi regime killed the cow and decided to milk the goat..' This regime actually promised not to treat us like cows. 'A totally clean government' They said, The can not even do it. But they failed us and returned to the same things Moi did. May be covertly but still the same. If we set our baseline too low, then we will never rise to excellence.
I will have no problem with Mr Waweru at I cut him some flak.
Finally, as per your advice, I have a rope, I will not give it to Waweru, I also know a sturdy trunk. I will hand the rope to Emilio, show him the trunk and hope that he proceeds to do the necessary on his OWN neck

PNU is now acting like a serious political player. Contrary to what the author says, the new PNU strategy is bad, really bad, for ODM.
You indeed can have new elections, but there will have to be a comprehensive constitutional review BEFORE. ODM will not have it any other way, and thats just the way PNU likes it.
Going by past behaviour, it will take one year before Kenyans agree how the review is going to be done. The last one took 15 years BEFORE the 2005 referendum!! Some of you Kumekuchans were still in diapers. Having agreed on that, it will take another year to agree on who seats on the review commission, if indeed it will be a commission. Another year to debate and agree, then another year to go to court and challenge it, THEN A REFERENDUM, by which time Kibaki will have finished his five years and Kalonzo will have become his successor with Uhuru as Prime Minister.
In all those years pending the review, ODM will be an opposition party, NOT a partner with PNU in Govt. Thats too bad. They should have heeded Raila when he once said "hata mkia ni nyama".

by the way the polls!!94% was all other provinces including the IDP's and the 6% was the house of Mumbi so you get my drift?? they PNU already know that kibaki does not stand a chance!!so kenyans let us go to the presidential polls to end this kibaki pnu rubbish!!

guys

that we are all made different is not in doubt. most of us have inherited traits, beliefs and characteristics of the environment we were nurtured to maturity in. others have gone beyond that narrow and sometimes confining envelope and embraced others from different spheres of life. a few are able to intelligently assimilate all the good traits from their home upbringing and merge these with the good from elsewhere, while some are permanently stuck up in their own bigoted cloaks

ultimately we judge and assocaite with one another based on our understanding of the depth or lack of it of three main categories

a) mind/intelligence/reasoning and progress
b) soul or morality and
c) pocket or finances

there are those who introduce social dimensioning based on ethno-cultural basis and have their heads stuck permanently in their behinds on this alone. many have taken to (or aspire to be) dimensioning based on depth of pocket or financial standing in society. most of the empty talk here is centered on ethno-cultural limitations.

i hope my favorites here chris, fave, taabu, wanjiku, ivy, mrembo, chicity, deroo, sir alex, abbas, can do all they can to help steer this blog back to more rational reasoning and dialogue, to provide a forum and opportunity for kenyans and friends of kenya both at home and in diaspora to share knowledge and successes as well as highlight wrongs in the country.

The reader who proposed this needs to raise his/her expectations. Bring Moi back??? He had 24 years and accomplished what? Not to mention the damage he is still doing behind the scenes 5 years later! Like someone said above, in any other part of the world, he and his sons, associates would be in jail or dead. Only in Kenya do citizens glorify corrupt dictators and plead for their return. Spare us the anarchronism.

1-dissolve ECK as it is.
2-election to be done under the supervision of the AU and intl community
3-No campaign of any manner , no press confrence , interviews etc.
4-if none can garner more than 50% then they can ammend the constitution and share "real power" the PM can be head of govt with exec powers and president to be head of state and CIC as proposed in the bomas draft.

Something does add up here, if ODM was to be believed PNU won 44% of the vote compare with ODM 46%.
And according to offical census Kikuyu make up 22% of the population, who are the other 22%?

All Raila wanted is to demonise Kikuyus to extinction but his mission failed.

When will you also understand that ODM's single biggest weakness is a non acceptance that it has a big problem, and that the problem is that you and most ODMers are too emotional in a game where emotion is worthless and is indeed a liability? Emotion in fact clouds your thinking where ruthless application of logic is required.

Moderation - I know it is time consuming to effectively and efficiently moderate comments when you have other matters to attend. I think the task can be shared amongst Kumekuchans by adding a link at the end of each post to allow people to register their complain on offending posts. William, keep day dreaming, but I'm sorry comparing the Kikuyu thugs to Jews is an insult to the Jews. Let the truth be told, the current crop of Kikuyu leadership is full of selfish individuals who have looted so much from the Kenyan coffers that the thought of losing an election and facing the wrath of what most Kenyans desire (go after all those who enriched themselves from public coffers)was sending shivers down their spines.

They hence proceeded to shamelessly and tactlessly steal the elections. The truth is that they had voted themselves out of the government as ODM was bound to form the next government subsequent to which major changes were to occur and all their dirty linen would have been aired out to dry in the open.

William, there is a difference between 'intelligence' and 'greed' and the greed of the current crop of Kikuyu leadership has only managed to alienate them further from the rest of Kenya.

For as long as there are more people that think the way you do, you will only keep alienating yourselves from Kenya. You have manipulated Kenyans for too long and time is catching up with you very fast. You need to wise up and open your eyes.
