Nyaribari Chache by-elections results: Ford People in shock win

In shock results just in from the by-election in Nyaribari Chache, Ford People’s candidate Richard Tongi has won the seat (beating favourite and incumbent Chris Bichage of ODM by less than 400 votes) garnering 10,100 votes.

The result is a clear indication of the influence and power of the Nyachae family who surprised everybody by suddenly getting very involved in this by-election. A section of the press speculated that some family members may have been using the election to test the waters for future political moves in the area. Retired Simeon Nyachae is the founder of the Ford People party.

However analysts on the ground say that this is a move by Simeon Nyachae to strengthen Ford People with the intention of using the party's strength amongst the Kisii community as a bargaining chip with the JUBILEE government. This is the direction Kenyan politics has persistently stuck to which promotes tribalism but secures political power for leaders who can Marshall their tribes to vote as a block.

Nationally the results are a blow to the CORD coalition which has now lost one precious seat in a parliament where they are already the minority.

Wamalwa tells Ruto to go for 2017 presidency

Deputy president William Ruto has been urged not to wait for 10 years to contest the presidency and to instead stand in 2017 because it was his democratic right to do so.

The remarks were made on Saturday by Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa (NOT to be confused with former Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa.)
Kiminini legislator Chris Wamalwa

Wamalwa is an opposition legislator but the remarks come at a time when political temperatures in the country have risen to fever pitch with the URP faction of the ruling JUBILEE coalition complaining bitterly about the president leaving them out of appointments even as they demand for the resignation/removal from office of those still in government who during the Kibaki administration went out of their way to gather evidence against DP William Ruto in an effort to ensure that he was successfully charged and convicted at the Hague.

Even more interesting is the suggestion doing the rounds in URP and gaining popularity that President Uhuru steps down for Ruto in 2017 and then completes his last 5 years after Ruto has had a stint in power. Could this have been the rumour that inspired Wamalwa's remarks?

Chilling 2014 predictions

The big question in Kenyan politics right now is what will happen next? And this question applies to many current issues;

* Tribal appointments in the JUBILEE government have raised a serious storm that is a very real threat to the coalition ship. Whichever way you look at it something will have to give sooner rather than later. However the prediction here is rather surprising.

* Will URP remain in JUBILEE or do you hold the same school of thought as those analysts who are now saying that it is NOT a question of if they will leave but WHEN. However is this practical under the new constitution? Can Uhuru survive as president alone and without Ruto? Read the prediction for yourself.

* 2013 was the year Al Shabaab terrorists rocked the nation with a vicious and bloody attack on Westgate shopping mall. What is going on right now in the Al Shabab hideouts in rural Somalia points to what this creatively evil terrorists are planning next and it may come before the end of 2013 or early in 2014.

* Political assassinations of prominent Kenyans? You've got to be joking Kumekucha!!!

"Chris Kumelucha may have his faults and has been criticized for many things over the years since May 2005 when the Kumekucha brand was launched. HOWEVER nobody can argue with his record on predictions. Statistically it is 91% (according to him). True he has been sensationally wrong a few times but he has also been sensationally right way too many times. You can never ignore the guy.
- Kumekucha critic and fan depending on the post of the day. Wrote this shortly after I predicted in early 2013 that Uhuru would narrowly win in the first round leading to a run off-

Now I have compiled predictions on what 2014 holds for Kenyan politics. My brand new book does not hold anything back. I have used my own analysis, what experts in various fields are saying and also what genuine men of God with a track record of correct prophesies are prophesying. There are sections that are pretty sensitive (like the chilling one about the assassination of a very prominent Kenyan) and there is even a section for entrepreneurs that details opportunities that will emerge from the chaos. After all, all great fortunes throughout history have been made during serious economic storms and crisis (e.g. the Great depression produced a record number of self made millionaires in the United States in the 1930s).

Raila and Nyanza MPs very worried about Kidero cash

What is Evans Kidero (pictured) really up to dishing out large sums of money in Nyanza? It has merged that a meeting on Monday attended by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other top Luo leaders was called to discuss this precise issue.

It seems that Kidero's "partner in crime" in this issue is one Dalmas Otieno. The two are working together and very closely with the JUBILEE government because in many of these fund raisers they turn up with the President and Deputy president's contributions.

Those who know Kidero well say that he is an extremely ambitious man who refuses to see obstacles and always goes for the seemingly impossible. This is precisely how he has become such a wealthy man. Hence it is no surprise that one of the busiest governors in the country faced with a mountain of challenges in the almost ungovernable Nairobi can find the time to criss cross Nyanza dishing out huge sums of money and seemingly chasing another agenda when his plate is already full.

Admittedly no matter how many meetings CORD and ODM hold thye can do very little to touch Kidero at the moment or to derail his political career. In any case the fact that Luo leaders are feeling nervous about his activities is a clear indication that Kidero is no push over and needs to be taken very seriously.

Can President Uhuru tell the difference between tribal and political?

Former Vice President Riek Machar: Crafty. Seeks violent short-cut to power

President Uhuru Kenyatta recently made a very strange statement about the ongoing conflict in S.Sudan. He said that the conflict was a political problem rather than a tribal one.

In fact strange may be the wrong word to describe this remark and bizarre may just fit in much better. Here’s why. Kenya’s interest in S.Sudan is deep and there is no doubt that the Kenyan intelligence service has been on the ground giving Nairobi regular briefings since the birth of that nation. This means that the Kenyan president has to be one of the most knowledgeable people around on what is going on in the world’s newest country.

The problem is South Sudan is tribal and that should be pretty obvious. Some bitter Kenyans may be quick to add that the president’s understanding of tribal and political may be a wee bit faulty. After all social media is rampant with complaints about how recent appointments from State house have favoured one tribe considerably over the others. Perhaps the way the president sees the issue is that the appointments have not really been tribal but political.

Anyway, sadly for everybody it looks like the problem in that country is going to get much worse before it gets better.

Of interest to this blogger is the craftiness of this former Vice President Riek Machar guy. The government in South Sudan has blamed him for starting the trouble by plotting a coup attempt on Dec. 15. Machar denies that charge and claims that violence began when presidential guards from President Salva Kiir's majority Dinka tribe tried to disarm guards from Machar's Nuer ethnic group. From Juba the military clashes then spiraled across the country.

Well, well. Troops loyal to him are clearly very well prepared and are heavily armed. As you read this 25,000 of his soldiers are marching towards Bor in an attempt to retake the strategic town. Did they get all their supplies and organize their readiness on the spur of the moment? Go tell that to the birds. The man has obviously been carefully planning all this for a very long time. And he is very well financed too. Still he seems keen to ensure that his image and PR are top notch as well as his propaganda (a vital tool in any war since the beginning of time) as he seeks a violent short-cut path to power.

In politics perception is much more important than the truth and in most cases the facts don't really matter when perception has kicked in. And so to avoid complications with all those Kumekucha readers out there who are JUBILEE damu let's stick to perception for what I am about to say to introduce this very sad topic.

The JUBILEE government (2013-2017) is going to be remembered for causing the media plenty of grief. As to whether this is true or not, let's leave that discussion for another day. For now let's stick to the perception out there. Let me also leave out at this juncture all the info I have received about several bloggers fearing for their lives and the warnings I too have received over my own safety. By the way in-case you did not know bloggers have also been carefully targeted by several legislative moves from the government including the one insisting that all domain names are registered within Kenya (but that is a story for another day).

In view of this perception some facts about the recent death of a blogger who has become very famous very suddenly in recent months can easily be linked by wananchi to the JUBILEE agenda and policy of silencing any media voice that is not for them.

Kahodha Roy Ogolla (pictured above) was the blogger who released the shocking Sonko/Shebesh nude photos to a gaping Kenyan public. Now a few days ago he died in what was reported to have been a road accident. Fine. A lot of Kenyans die on the roads especially at this time of the year so nothing fishy there, ama?. Only that a prominent JUBILEE politician had promised to finish the late Ogolla only a few days earlier. But it gets even more interesting.

The autopsy report is inconsistent with the road accident theory. The post mortem report says he died of liver bleeding, but his body has no physical injury. And yet they say the car rolled several times and he was thrown out on impact. Young Ogolla was also reportedly with a lady in that car, no one knows where the lady is or who she was.

In other words there were no eye witnesses to the said road accident on a public road, at least they have not come forward so far.

This smells of a cover up of sorts involving the usual "heavy stones that cannot be turned." Admittedly the young blogger was fairly careless in the way he went about things, even openly revealing the source of his stories. However it seems that he had some information that was way too sensitive.

"You are a traitor," Alfred Keter tells William Ruto

Alfred "JUBILEE horror movie" Keter

What is really going on with these URP guys. First of all it was Goovernor Isaac Ruto taking on the whole of JUBILEE over the percentage of national funds to be given to county governments (remember that saga?) Now just a few months later URP produce another anti-JUBILEE Monstor, more terrible and frightening than Isaac Ruto ever was. His name is of course Alfred Keter. That name alone sends cold chills down the spin of many in government. yet this is a youngster, fairly good looking and first-time legislator.

According to the Kenyan Daily Post, Keter is now telling Ruto not to waste his time and funds touring the Rift Valley (as planned for January) to rally waning support for JUBILEE. Keter says that it will be a waste of time just like the recent presidential trip to the same area.

As you drink too much Coke over the weekend/holidays be warned PLUS a possible remedy

I love my ice cold Coke. Ai!! I just can't do without it. I drink several during the day and the 2 litre Coke isn't quite big enough for me and my small family and if I had the email address of the guy who makes decisions about bottle sizes, I would shoot them a note about coming up with a 5 litre or 10 litre Coke ASAP.

So why am I writing this article? Because I have tried very hard to make the following information make me stop my bad Coke habits and mostly I have failed. And so in a last desperate attempt I am publishing these facts in Kumekucha hoping that this will trigger enough warning bells in my brain to help me stop. Let's hope it works for me and those of you out there who are cokeholics like I am.

If you have been gulping down too much Coke over the holidays chances are very high that you could develop heart disease. According to a study published in 2007 in Circulation, the journal of the American Heart Association, subjects who drank a soda every day over a four-year period had a 25% chance of developing high blood sugar levels. The Nurses’ Health Study found that women who drank more than two sugary beverages per day had a 40% higher risk of heart attacks or death from heart disease than women who rarely drank sugary beverages.

It is also rather obvious that you’ll be fatter and you don’t need any research findings to tell you that. All that sugar will definitely bulge out in various parts of your body. Still (for those who want documented research) according to research in the Nurse’s Health Study, which monitored the health of 90,000 women for eight years, drinking a single soda every day of the week added 10 pounds over a four-year period.

This next one is pretty scary. Chances are that you’ll develop diabetes. In the Nurses’ Health Study, women who said they drank one or more servings a day of a sugar-sweetened soft drink or fruit punch were twice as likely to have developed type 2 diabetes during the study than those who rarely consumed these beverages. Again the main culprit is all that sugar.

Generally speaking, you’re bound to be less healthy in many other ways. Several studies, including the 2007 study published in Circulation, suggest that diet sodas have some of the same effects on health as regular sodas, despite having none or very little of the sugar. Why? Drinking soda is typically part of an overall lifestyle that’s not very healthy: We know you don’t like us to compare drinking caffeine and sugar to substance abuse, but when it comes to your lifestyle, some think that soda is just like a gateway drug.

P.S. Somebody gave me the following information that seems to suggest I can keep my beloved Coke as long as I drink lots of tea and water. Is it true?

"The good news is drinking tea can protect against heart disease, so after every can of coke drink a hot tea(sugarless preferably) and you will counteract the effects of the coca-cola

Above all drink water which cancels out the effect of both the tea and coke. The human body is capable of taking in 1.5-2 litres of fluid a day, so you can still have your cake(coke) and eat(drink) it no problem."

No way I can give you Uhuru's net worth, Githu tells Bensouda

AG Githu Muigai

I have a right to my privacy because I am not in public office.

But would you say the same about President Uhuru Kenyatta? Githu Muigai's arguments presented to the ICC to explain why he will NOT release the President's financial records are the kind that would cause somebody to wonder what law school our dear AG went t0. Never mind the fact that he is a whole professor and was actually teaching at Nairobi University before his kinsmen gave him a call to tell him that they needed him bad. Now you know why they needed him so bad. It was for stuff like this.

Actually poor Githu was grasping at straws here because at one point in this submission he said; “Article 50(2)(1) of the constitution guarantees the right to a fair trial, which includes the right of an accused person to refuse to give self-incriminating evidence,” Githu said.

Whoa!!!

But what should interest Kenyans even more is where the ICC prosecutors are going with this. They want to prove that Uhuru spent a minimum of Kshs 50 million to finance the post election troubles.

The president and his deputy want to be traveling with more women on their foreign trips. Actually a minimum of 30% on the entire delegation should always be women.

This is in line with the Jubilee policy that women and youth should meet a third of Government procurement needs.

It will be interesting to see how this works out on visits to Arab countries which this government has become very fond of.

Kenya still a paradise for human traffickers: Kenya is leading in human trafficking incidents in the region

Kenya still leads region in human trafficking, participants attending a recent forum on human trafficking at Kenya School of Monetary Studies in Nairobi noted

The country borders Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania, which are known sources of victims. Most of the victims involved are children, young men and young women.

What precisely is human trafficking? This is when a person is forced, coerced, or tricked into doing work against their will. There are many forms of human trafficking, also known as modern day slavery, which exist in the world today. Two main categories are forced labor and sex trafficking, or forced prostitution and pornography. It is estimated that as you read this there are 27 million people enslaved in the 21st century.

This is the fastest growing crime in the world and very difficult to combat because those who hold others captive and force them to work against their will are making profits off this crime. In fact, human trafficking is estimated to be a 32 billion dollar industry.

Some schemes that may seem legitimate, but are used to lure people into captivity include seasonal farm workers, hotel and restaurant work, domestic servants, nannies, and student travel programs. There are many reputable organizations that provide these types of employment and educational programs. However, traffickers routinely use the lure of paying jobs and an education to separate their victims from their money (for travel visas and recruiting fees) and family. Once separated a trafficker may sell the individual to another or force them to work off "travel debt" such as transportation, food, and housing. This debt is at astronomical interests rates, which accumulate daily, and can never be paid off.

Every year, over 9 million men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, worldwide.

Female lecturer at Maseno University commits suicide

Why do people end up killing themselves? That is a question that many Kenyans at Maseno University are pondering over after the discovery of the body of a female lecturer yesterday together with an elaborate suicide note she had left behind citing marriage problems.

Mrs Pamela Jaoko K’Ouko, 50, (pictured above) a senior lecturer in  Zoology at Maseno University, had been missing for a week before her decomposed body was found yesterday floating in a river.

Interesentingly her husband, Dr Evan K’Ouko, a radiologist and a former lecturer at Maseno, however, denied the couple had any domestic problems, and even added that they had breakfast together on the last morning he saw his wife alive.

A few years back an interesting study was done in Japan where incidentally about thirty thousand people commit suicide every year (one person every 17 minutes).

The study involved a very sickly chimpanzee called Leo who was still somewhat cheerful and grateful for the small pleasures he got out of life even in his sorry state. The conclusion was that because Leo did not have the sense of envy, grudge, or misery, he was not depressed or despaired thinking about his past or future. He was not envious, resentful, or jealous on others who had complete freedom of their bodies. He did not fill his imagination with negative thoughts.

Human imagination, being the cause of despair, is also the producer of hope. Human beings should realize that the difference between hope and despair is only in their brains.

The Maseno case no doubt has more to it than meets the eye because others have contradicted the claim by the husband of the deceased that all was well in their marriage.

Read the story in full.

Has JUBILEE Clinched Major Defections From CORD?

Please feel free to forward this email to your friends

Dalmas Otieno and Dorothy Atieno Okello married last week
SERIAL BRIDEGROOM: Dalmas Otieno married his third wife in July this year in a low key traditional marriage ceremony. The 30 year old lass who is the latest Mrs Dalmas is Dorothy Atieno Okello (pictured here). Dalmas holds views on the ICC cases that contradict the official position of his party. What is going on?The CORD coalition is NOT speaking with one voice about the ICC cases. There is no doubt now that there are a sizeable number of prominent politcians who are with JUBILEE on many issues and in the process are contradicting their own party's official position.

Dalmas Otieno a very close aide of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over the weekend during a function in Migori attended by Deputy President William Ruto called for an end to the Kenyan cases at the ICC. So did Migori governor Zachary Obado. Both are in ODM and the CORD coalition.

What is really going on here?

Apart from the ICC cases, we know for a fact that Nairobi governor Evans Kidero is much more cosy with President Uhuru Kenyatta of JUBILEE than he is with his own party leader Raila Odinga.

But the clincher are reports coming in from Machakos indicating that the county is very likely to vote JUBILEE in 2017 courtesy of Governor Alfred Mutua who has build a huge following in the county and beyond. The governor of Machakos is another prominent CORD character who is way too cosy with JUBILEE.

Where does genuine co-operation stop and betrayal start?

Who is financing South Sudan troubles
It is obvious who the biggest loser of the ongoing troubles in South Sudan will be. It is Kenya. Above everything else the country has lost a major market for its' products and work force at a time when the economy is headed south. Very hard times ahead for already struggling Kenyans.
