Patrice Lumumba: Details of Brutal Foreign Interference Beginning To Emerge 47 Years Later

The good book says that there is nothing that is done in secret that will not be shouted from the rooftops one day. There are some very fascinating revelations that have come out recently of some rather nasty business done in great secrecy, involving the Belgians and the Americans in the Congo.

The first legally elected Prime Minister of Congo, Patrice Lumumba, removed illegally by foreigners at height of cold war.

While it is true that most Kenyans do not care much about what happens with our immediate neighbors, Uganda and Tanzania, let alone a slightly distant one like Congo, these latest revelations are of great interest and concern to every Kenyan. It is also true that we have many problems of our own and hardly have time to take a peek over the fence to see what is happening with the neighbors but the truth is that the thugs who robbed the neighbor will inevitably be at our doorstep soon.

Patience please, as I tell the story.

In 1960 what is today the Democratic Republic of Congo attained independence and in those first elections there was a surprise winner in a young former postal clerk and travelling beer salesman called Patrice Lumumba. A charismatic politician and great friend of our own Tom Mboya, the Belgians were extremely nervous about this man and his "burning eyes". In retrospect it is also clear that the Belgians were not quite ready to leave the mineral-rich Congo, yet Lumumba who reflected the will of the people, wanted them to leave ASAP.

To cut a long story short, Lumumba was in power for barely 3 months before he was "removed" by the International community. Even the United Nations passed a resolution not to recognize a democratically elected leader of a country that was now supposed to be independent. Thanks mainly to pressure from the United States. Lumumba's fatal mistake was simply warming up to the Soviets then.

But what followed was even more shocking. The Americans working closely with the Belgians carefully laid down a plan for the elimination of Lumumba. It is said that President Eisenhower gave the executive order for the fiery Lumumba to be murdered in cold blood. After extensive deliberations that at one time included the suggestion to poison Lumumba with a special toothpaste, the deed was finally done by flying Lumumba to the Mineral-rich Katanga province which was the bedrock of his political enemies within Congo. There Lumumba and his close associates were put against a tree and shot dead. They were then buried. Later two Belgian soldiers on orders from their superiors, exhumed the bodies, cut them into small pieces and burnt some parts while dissolving others in acid.

The full story including details of wire taps on Lumumba phones and his residence and office, using equipment supplied by the Americans and installed by Belgians, as well as amounts of cash sent for the operation to the Congo by the CIA have only now started to emerge in full. Many of the key participants are apparently still alive.

It is instructive that this foreign interference in Congo in the early 60s opened a can of worms that is yet to be contained or shut again to this day. President Laurent Kabila was assassinated in circumstances that are still unclear by allegedly being shot by one of his own bodyguards. His son took over the reins of power but his main opponent in a recent general elections has refused to accept the results and the country looks like it is headed down the only too familiar road to more skirmishes and blood-letting.

Residual Income Affiliate Programs Will Change Your Life

What exactly are residual income affiliate programs and why should you pay so much attention to them? That's a fair question, but I wonder if at the moment you are able to fully grasp the implications of what is currently happening on the web in relation to residual or passive income and what it means for the future and anybody who can see and take full advantage of this trend.

I also wonder whether it will be possible for me in this brief article to fully communicate to you the life-changing and revolutionary excitement that these wonderful residual income opportunities present.

Residual income is the sort of income where you do work once but continue to earn from whatever it is you did for years to come, probably even the rest of your lifetime. Not many hit songs that take the charts by storm fall under this category because they soon fade and other new songs take over. But the best example is the guy who puts up a block of apartments and collects rent for years and even when they pass on, their children who inherit the business continue to collect for many generations.

Some time back I came across some affiliate program on the World Wide Web and I signed up for it without thinking too much about it. I then followed the simple instructions and pasted the affiliate link on one of my sites. That was work I did almost 2 years ago but virtually every month since then I usually open my email to find a Paypal notification of a hefty amount of dollars received into my account from this simple-looking-no-big-deal affiliate program. To be honest I don' even have the time to visit the site and look at my stats.

How Lifestyles Are Changing And Why Residual Income Affiliate Programs Are Playing Such A Major Role

We are in the age of massive layoffs and downsizing that has seen hundreds of thousands of families all over the world affected by the loss of regular incomes. People are also rapidly coming to the realization that it is not all about working hard, but working smart matters more. And the really desirable thing about working smart is that it can mean you spending more quality time with your family and loved ones without worrying about who is minding the shop. Many have been able to attain this dream through network marketing, but the truth is that offline network marketing has its' limitations and that brings us to the new frontier of residual income affiliate programs which all use the network marketing business model. Essentially this is where you earn money from clients you have introduced every time they make a purchase, but to leverage things further, you also earn from the efforts of other associates or affiliates that you have introduced. Done properly, the passive income here can be massive.

Incidentally the thing that scares most people to death is rejection. The Internet makes it possibly to avoid rejection. When you place a link in your email signature that goes out to friends, or place a similar link on your site, those who are interested will click through and maybe sign up and those who are not will just ignore it. Nobody will tell you "no" in your face. This is a powerful advantage that makes residual income affiliate programs so easy and comfortable to work with and it also means that their potential for growth is unfathomable.

The Power Of The Net Makes The Potential Passive Income from These Affiliate Programs Enormous
The web reaches hundreds of millions of people at a time. Actually there is no limit to the kind of revenue that one can generate. Take the example of Google, a company that did not exist 10 short years ago but is today worth over $40 billion—and growing. That would never have happened if Google was a bricks and mortar company. It can only happened on net.

Interestingly the Google Adsense program is by far the most popular affiliate program on the web and it has helped many make lots of residual income. You simply produce content on a web page once and Adsense serves relevant ads that will continue to earn you passive income for as long as you decide to keep the page up and running.

In Conclusion
To cash in on this rapidly emerging trend, all you need to do is find a residual income affiliate program that will hold your hand through the entire process and guide you to success. The sort of affiliate program where you can have a personal coach at your beck and call to help you through difficulties and to literally guide you to success. Getting a hold of this special report on how to make residual income online is the first step to joining such an affiliate program. Interestingly you do not even need to have a web site or blog site to start earning from this simple, no frills affiliate program.

Everybody Is Selfish And We Must Therefore Tolerate Selfish Greedy Leaders, Some Kenyans Say

Special Sunday Edition In Protest Of A Really Nasty Misleading Comment

Readers of this blog have left two similar comments here that eloquently put forward the idea that man by nature has always been selfish and therefore every leader is expected to be selfish. Their arguments seem to very convincing and they both appear to be making lots of sense. The comments were in response to two seperate posts I made one on the way Kenyans make constitutions and the other castigating the so-called current front-runners for the presidency in this year's elections for being selfish.

Golden opportunity for Kenyans
=============================
The really sad thing about this thinking is that it is rampant amongst Kenyans today and that is why we tolerate thieves, looters, rapists, liars, conmen and sons of land grabbers and murderers as our leaders. It is interesting how almost all the leading presidential candidates save for two or three should be in Kamiti prison but have the cheek to stand for the presidency. I honestly do not know of any other country in the world where something like this can happen (please correct me of I am wrong.)

It is time Kenyans demanded for SELFLESS leadership, because this is the only thing that will save our beloved motherland at this point in time. It is the only thing that can free us from the deep hole we are in currently.

What would have happened to South Africa had Nelson Mandela selfishly taken a deal to be released from his Robeen Island prison "home" of 27 years in return for deserting the cause? What would have happened if he had done what Kenyan leaders do—ask for a lot of money in return for selling out his motherland? Thank God for his selfless sacrifice that finally led to the New South Africa we know today.

What would have happened if Tom Mboya had cut a deal with the colonial government to join the cabinet and abandon the independence struggle in return for wealth and comfort? It is mainly his selfless courage that won the hearts of Nairobians, most of them from the Kikuyu tribe to vote for him and it was Tom Mboya that most Kenyans were voting for when the gave Kanu a resounding victory over Kadu in those unforgettable Independence elections of 1963.

Human beings are selfish by nature are they not, and constitutions are made with selfish motives, are they not? Is that why the founding fathers of the great nation of America risked being hanged by making their famous declaration of independence? Was it a selfish act that founded the greatest nation on earth?

If we cannot find truly selfless leaders to stand in this year's general election, then I will be the first to tell you all, to give everything up because it cannot be done.

To make matters worse, this reader seems to be angry as they feed us with this thesis of theirs which they are sure is the correct thing that dare not be challenged.

God help Kenya.

Comment Nomination: The Most Misleadi g Comment Ever Dressed As Angry Truth

I nominate these comments for the barb award of the most misleading comment ever made in this blog clothed as the truth. Were they made by the same person? See my response.

Childish mutterings and playing to the gallary. Raila is accused of selfishness, which selfishness??? Is it a crime/selfishness to aspire to the highest office in the land? Does one not plan and connive to attain it, or do you imagine one is woken up in the morning and sent to live in the big house on the hill?

Read Machiaveli's The Prince and you will understand what I am talking about.

Kibaki has read it, but not too wisely and that is why he will lose, not because he is selfish. Man by nature is selfish, you must be selfish in order to live or else you could just as well forget about eating because every time you open your mouth to eat you destroy life.

The world is a man eat eat man society, if you teacher told you anything else, they LIED. Smell the coffee, dont just go about saying selfish, selfish, selfish... More fingers are pointed at you than you point.

We are all selfish for as long as we live...

Mandole has left a new comment on your post "The Two Anti-Kikuyu Constitutional Amendments":

Show me ANY legislation ANYWHERE in the world that is not selfish, and I will show you a country run by angels, for angels. The truth is legislation arises ALWAYS to raise a barrier and defend the defenceless (good legislation) against some rapacious wolves or prevent others from reaching the goodies (bad legislation).

Legislation therefore must ALWAYS be selfish from that point of view, there is therefore no neutral or "selfless" legislation. What crime is there if other Kenyans have decided to ask that more consensus be obtained in their governorship? What funny games are you playing here by telling us Matiba won? Kibaki won? Does it matter?

What matters is that Kenyans are demanding a greater degree of consensus in the way they elect their leader. In the sixties and seventies a tiny clique of Kikuyus ran the country and did not care about what anybody else said or did. "Kura yangu na ya mama Ngina inatosha" was not spoken in jest!!! When we legislate against this, all of a sudden it's anti-kikuyu!!!

What did you really expect? Should rapists also complain the law against rape is designed specifically against them and thus needs to be off the books??? I personally think your logic on this post is immature and way way below your standard. It may make me stop reading your posts and assume you're just another heckler trying to please your Kikuyu kin. A VERY selfish motive I must add.

Golden Opportunity for Kenyans

Ever since we launched our online business section, I have been flooded with emails from Kenyans based all over the world asking all sorts of questions about how best to start their own Internet home based business.

In the next post an expert on the subject answers all your most common questions. This is a Kenyan who has been making a living on the net for the last 2 years and so they must know what they are talking about.

Interestingly, this is a golden opportunity for all you Kenyans who currently only use the net to read and send email as well as visiting Kumekucha daily. You can do more and even as you keep your current job or business, you can start looking for ways to earn money from an online business.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, as they say.

Read answers Now to all your frequently asked Internet home based business questions.

Internet Home Based Business: All You Ever Wanted To Know

Even as more and more case studies emerge of persons all over the world succeeding beyond their wildest dreams with an Internet Home Based Business, many of us still consider it an impossible dream. The main problem seems to be the fact that it all sounds too good to be true. But then many forget that the Internet itself sounds too good to be true and yet it is a reality.

The fact that I earn a living on the web probably qualifies me to answer the following nagging questions that are constantly on the minds of many about this subject of a home based Internet business;

Can I make money without having my own website?
Yes. In fact that is exactly how I started off myself and it ended up being a huge advantage because I was able to take time concentrating on nothing else but marketing and learning how to drive traffic to other sites where any sales that resulted would earn me a commission. The skills I picked up directing traffic and prospects to other websites have been invaluable now that I have my own sites. In fact my program is such that you start off earning money without a site, although I help you develop a free blog later.

How much can somebody really make from a one-man-show Internet home based business?
It seems that the sky is the limit on this one. The highest figure I had heard previously was a million dollars a year from a single source, the Google Adsense affiliate program. Usually one site will have several programs and different sources of income running. But a photograph of a check for two months earning that was pretty close to a million dollars floored me (I'll say more about this particular case later). The truth is that there are numerous individuals earning insanely huge sums of money who keep quiet about it—wouldn't you? So the answer is that there is no limit to what you can earn. The limit is in your mind.

That can't be true, I've read so many stories about folks struggling only to make a few cents from the Adsense program every month. Now you're telling us somebody made close to a million dollars in two months?
Actually you can see a photograph of the check for yourself HERE (just scroll down a little). As I've said, I'll be saying more about this later. Actually the Internet is just like the real world. Many people struggle to put bread on the table while others make so much money that it is a problem. What is really exciting about the net is that one does not need huge amounts of capital and in my view it is much easier because you do not have to rely on a large staff to make some serious money. For instance the close-to-a-million-dollars case is a one-man-show online business. And remember that most experts agree that the Internet is still in its' infancy so we can expect it to really change the lives of millions of people all over the world. Will you be one of them?

I'm sure the level of skills required are awesome and I'm not even that confident in front of a computer.
It is true that to make some serious money online you require lots of online skills. It starts with the basics of understanding what HTML is all about right up to marketing on the web. However there are a few programs, which hold your hand through the process and make it very easy for you to pick up the skills even as you earn money. My special report and the program that goes with it is an excellent example of this. From my own experiences where it took me a lot of time and trial and error effort to pick up the basic skills required, I have created a system where you can be my associate and learn and really understand what it is all about even as you earn.

I'm really desperate for cash how long will it take for me to start earning a of money from this Internet thing?
I'm sorry, but this is the wrong approach for anybody wanting to make some serious amounts of money anywhere and not just on the Web. When I started out seriously on the web, I was in grave financial difficulties and so I tried that approach but quickly realized that I was going nowhere. So I got a job and then I focused all my spare time on working on the web. To save money, I would cut and paste stuff from the Internet onto a floppy diskette (not even a flash disk) and then read and study it at night on the old P1 PC at home which was not Internet enabled. Weekends were very busy for me as I worked on my Internet stuff. It was hectic and my family missed me a lot but they sure love the freedom I have now of working at home and spending more quality time with them, even as I receive quality earnings that I never achieved working for other people 9 to 5.

It is good to dream of making a lot of money but when on the job, you need to forget about cash and focus on learning the skills required to succeed online. The cash will inevitably catch up with you.

I think this is the most common mistake that people make on the web, they want to make cash instantly. Many end up frustrated and they help spread the propaganda that it can't be done. Of course it can't be done overnight or instantly.

Still I need to add the fact that when you have a coach, somebody holding your hand through the entire process, you will get there much faster. Most trades require one year training for you just to grasp the basics. I recommend that you commit yourself very seriously to giving the whole thing 3 months (if you're using my program) and then analyze your achievements after that and decide whether it was worth it.

I'll never be able to get that huge traffic required to make money on the Internet
You don't necessarily need huge traffic. I know a business that does very well by gaining just one new client every year. You can sell less and go for products with really high margins or the ones that require lots of repeat business from the same clients. The same is true on the Internet. There is a person I know who hardly has a site that gets more than 200 page views a day but they deal in niche markets created by niche keyword phrases. That is they look for areas where there is a high demand for information but no competition and then they create their business around those carefully chosen areas. I teach this skill in great detail to my associates.

Can I make money if I'm based in some remote part of Africa?
Yes. That's the magic of the Internet. Since I launched my online business, it has allowed me to travel the world and live where I please (as long as there is reliable Internet connection) and as long as it's not too difficult to get a residents visa (admittedly this is increasingly difficult for Africans anywhere in the world).

Can I launch my business with a full time day job? Or should I resign and concentrate on my Internet based business at home?
My advice is that you keep your job until your online earnings are big and regular enough to support you, just like I did myself. The exciting news here is that anybody working anywhere can start their Internet business on the side and build it up even as they retain a secure job.

Why are you giving out your Internet home based business secrets?
The Internet is a huge place and I cannot even attempt 5% of the opportunities available in my lifetime. Besides by helping others, I will also end up making more money because what I am doing here is creating a market for my future products. When I help you succeed, I will have no problem retaining you as a customer for life, my products in future. Sorry for being so blunt, but that's the truth and I think it is fair. It is definitely much more fare than those who promise you heaven on earth and then disappear the minute that you have parted with your hard won cash.

By the way this is the secret behind Google's billions. Google started off helping others search the net to find what they were looking for more easily and accurately for free. They then found a way to make money from the millions of people they had helped and who were now loyal only to Google.

What I have to say about the big check from 2 months activity.
What you should take careful note of is that the check earned (of exactly $991.773.84cts) is the kind of money large and very successful corporations with hundreds of employees are earning in the same period of time. But Markus Frind who owns a site called Plentyoffish.com did it single handedly. Frind is not even based in the United States. He lives in Canada.

I agree with him that the trend we are moving to with the power of the Internet and computer software that does the work of hundreds of employees, are small Internet Home based businesses run by a single person or two to three people at the most that will be raking in millions. It is already happening. That is the new world, borderless economy that we are moving to and nobody can stop this happening. Don't you think that it is important that the ongoing Internet revolution DOES NOT leave you behind?

The Orange Party Symbol Saga: Kenyans Continue To Be Duped By Politicians

ODM-Kenya have now gotten a reputation for being very quick to take to the streets in their famous protest marches.

The party's registration delayed and ODM leaders and supporters swiftly marched to the AG's chambers in protest. Recently the ECK (Electoral Commission of Kenya) said that the party was not allowed to use its' famous orange symbol. The party promptly took to the streets and marched to the ECK headquarters at Anniversary Towers.

Did Fred Gumo slap his way to top ODM leadership?

What the Steadmann poll has never captured
=================================
The ECK seems to have bowed to pressure and swiftly relaxed their tough stance on the issue.

The time has come for Kenyans to start asking themselves a very simple question; for how long are they going to be used by politicians for their selfish ends? Over 100 innocent Kenyans have lost their lives in the strange Mount Elgon clashes. ODM have not matched anywhere in protest.

Mungiki adherents killed a number of drivers and touts on the Thika route but as far as the ODM high command was concerned, mum was the word. None of these national disasters was as important as a stupid party symbol or a piece of paper registering an unworkable, unpractical coalition that is sure to self destruct before December.

Kenyans are very fond of defending their favourite political candidates, or even worse candidates fro their tribes. Yet, as has been quite rightly pointed out by our readers in some of their hard hitting comments, the fact that the president comes from your community will not benefit you in any way. During Moi's long 24 year tenure, how many members of the Kalenjin community (or to be more specific the Turgen) benefited directly from that fact. I assure you that te number does not come anywhere near 100.

So if the next president of Kenya turns out to be your tribe, what benefits do you see accruing to you as an individual?

Ladies and Gentlemen these jokers have hoodwinked us and it is time we opened our eyes. When a Kenyan politician steals public funds and lives in luxury constituents cannot even get to see him, let alone get a small share of the loot. However as soon as justice threatens to catch up, the same crook starts provoking tribal sentiments and issues press statements to the effect that such and such a tribe is being "finished" politically. As expected members of his tribe will quickly rise to his defense.

These ODM protest marches always leave a very bad taste in my mouth. And it seems that Narc-Kenya have also caught the fever. Yesterday there was a very big demonstration across town in Nairobi in support of 80 year old, aging and ailing President Kibaki being given another 5-year term to lead Kenya. Oh Please!!

Are ODM Leaders Stuck In A Time Warp Of The November 2005 Referendum?

Listening to ODM leaders speaking last night, all mentioned that the orange symbol was the winning symbol of the November 2005 referendum and it was therefore the right of the "winning" party to retain it.

Why have these guys not yet gotten it into their heads that a lot has changed since the referendum? Most notably the powerful, monied support of the Kenyan nobility is not going orange in the December elections. That includes characters like Daniel "never retire from politics" Arap Moi.

Kenyan voters are also getting angrier and are much more aware of the trickery that they have been subjected to in the past by our politicians.

But ODM the so-called party of the people seems to be oblivious of this and many other factors. Not t mention the most pressing problems facing the majority. Instead they are firmly stuck in a time warp dated November 2005.

Fred Gumo Is Now Chair Of Key ODM Committee

Wonders never cease. A very violent man who lost the Narc nomination polls for the Westlands seat to Betty Tett but was rigged in by the Narc Summit, has now been appointed to chair a key ODM-Kenya committee whose major objective is to resolve the thorny issue of deciding the party's presidential flag bearer.

The name of the man is of course Fred Gumo. Actually Fred "slapped a woman returning officer" Gumo. I am not sure what criteria ODM used to make this bizarre appointment, maybe the guy will slap into line the presidential candidate who defies him. I kid you not when I say that the man is feared by many. Even president Kibaki was not able to cool him down when the man defied him by violently opposing a cabinet minister early in the Kibaki administration. And his consistent record of slapping people speaks for itself. This is a man who resolves problems by going violent and his antics are well known.

Once he walked into a bar off Tom Mboya street accompanied by a few of his cronies and on being presented with a bill, Hon Gumo was upset about something and he slapped the waiter and left the bar without paying for his drinks.

Then there was the 1997 election incident at the Railway Club where Fred Fidelis Gumo slapped a woman returning officer who had announced that he had lost the Westlands seat to Betty Tett. The frightened woman promptly reversed her announcement and declared Fred Gumo the winner of those controversial elections. Betty Tett filed an election petition which went absolutely nowhere just as the man with a rather big axe-shaped head had loudly announced to his supporters at Railway club while taunting them over the results that he had just influenced with his trade mark slap.

Ladies and Gentlemen these are the so-called leaders of ODM and Kenya.

It will be interesting to see how Gumo "slaps" everybody into line over the thorny issues to do with the Presidential nomination within ODM.

What The Steadmann Poll Has Never Captured

A reader recently asked me here whether I was now satisfied with the accuracy of the latest Steadmann poll that puts Raila Odinga slightly ahead of Kalonzo Musyoka. My answer is "no."

This is one poll that has failed to capture a lot of things. I am always on the ground carefully monitoring what the wananchi (and the vast majority of voters) have to say and that is why many readers of this blog hardly ever agree with what I have to say. The ordinary people have no idea what a blog is, let alone how to leave a message here telling off some of the elitist commentators we seem to have with us. These elitist commentators with elitist see-no-evil-hear-no-tribal-evil views are hardly those of the ordinary mwananchi of Kenya. They are in fact what the ordinary folk call Wenye nchi (which means the owners of the country.) The Steadmann poll seems to concentrate their sampling amongst this group that I have just called Wenye nchi. Clear evidence is when you consider the views of the majority of those who read this blog. Most are persuaded that the Steadmann polls are fairly accurate.

But I know that the Steadmann polls do not make sense on several fronts. By sheer tribal numbers and arithmetic (because Kenyans have always voted along tribal patterns) they do not make any sense at all.

But there is one more thing that the Steadmann poll always seems to miss. Which in fact the winning side during the referendum took full advantage of which has never been reflected in Steadmann figures. And although much has changed since November 2005, this factor has in fact increased and now is set to affect even the ODM. This factor will greatly affect the outcome of this General election.

This is the anger factor in the Kenyan voter. This anger factor in most Kenyans who are fed up with the way things have gone politically, firstly dramatically decreases President's Kibaki's huge percentage and increasingly bloats the numbers of undecided voters or voters who are yet to decided who they will vote for to be Kenya's Fourth president. Yep, my polls say that Kibaki is not being re-elected if things remain as they are on the ground. So we are waiting for the fourth president of Kenya. And I have some bad news for some of you. It will NOT be Raila Odinga. Mercifully it will not be an 80-year-old ailing grandfather who has lost touch, either.

Evidence That President Kibaki And Hon Raila Are Only After Selfish Gain While The Rest Of Kenya Goes To The Dogs

Kenya's political scene is unique in many ways. Apart from the previously unprecedented way of forging coalitions being practiced in these shores, that involves forming a coalition over one year before the elections (that is what Narc-Kenya and ODM are), Kenyans also have a unique and reckless way of making laws. (By the way are you surprised that Kumekucha's prediction that both ODM and Narc-Kenya will self-destruct for this reason long before December is rapidly being proved correct?)

Kalonzo predictably changes his mind about the Steadmann polls: who is fooling who?
=====================================
Laws in Kenya are basically made for the sake of individual gain and advantage. This dangerous trend was started by the Kenyatta administration, which used Tom Mboya as Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister then to make numerous amendments to the constitution to benefit the Kenyatta administration and inevitably cause the chaos we find ourselves in today. However anybody who judges Mboya only on these amendments (which he was under pressure from Kenyatta to fulfill so as to prove his loyalty) is doing a great dis-service to the memory of one of the greatest sons to have come out of a Kenyan woman's womb. Interestingly a reader of this blog recently quoted Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and lied in writing that he is one of my heroes. That guy must have been out of his mind. Jaramogi was little more than a tribal chief in my book and I don't think it is possible to be a Mboya buff and also an admirer of the late Jaramogi at the same time.

But I digress.

The reason why it has been so difficult for politicians to agree on a new constitution is simply because they all have selfish interests and objectives that they want to see fulfilled in that constitutional amendment or new constitution. Nobody is asking themselves the right questions, which should chiefly be;

i) Will it benefit the people of Kenya today?
ii) Will it benefit future generations of Kenyans?

Take the controversial opposition proposal that seeks to introduce an amendment requiring a president to garner 50 per cent of the votes cast plus one to be declared duly elected as President of Kenya. This is apart from the already existing requirement that they garner 25 per cent of the votes cast from at least 5 provinces out of the total of 8.

A casual glance will convince anybody that it is a good law, with good intentions, which will dilute the power of tribal politics because a president will now require support from a cross section of more tribes to win? But somebody can also argue that it could in fact heighten tribal tensions because the run off will create two distinct tribal groupings that will be bitterly opposed to each other and chances are that the wounds will be difficult to heal long after the elections. For example it I widely expected that if this new proposal becomes law, we will end up having the Kikuyu (with the Merus and Embus) throwing in their lot with President Kibaki and the rest of Kenya supporting whoever will be the runner up, against him. So what will happen to the Kibaki supporters after the elections if their candidate loses? How will they feel as Kenyans knowing that the whole country ganged up against them?

Contrary to what some people think, I never spare anybody in this blog. And it is for this reason that we have to closely examine where this 50 per cent proposal is coming from. Already the opposition have said that it is a non-negotiable demand. Meaning that when they seat down to discuss, this is one amendment that will not be discussed or negotiated over, it will simply be passed.

My investigations have proved that this proposal is coming from Raila Odinga who feels that this constitutional amendment is his best chance to win the presidency. It is already clear that he will not get the ODM-Kenya nomination as easily as he had earlier anticipated. My information is that all other presidential candidates had said "yes" to Raila save for the son of Musyoka who strongly opposed. However things were taken out of his hands when a swift coup instigated by powerful forces caused the London bonding session to abort at the eleventh hour and Raila came back home to meet colleagues who had change their minds over a resolution he thought was more or less in the bag.

Raila Odinga has done a lot in helping Kenyans win more freedom and political expression. But in this case what he is doing is totally selfish. We need to stop this habit by Kenyan politicians of wanting to pass laws for selfish interests.

President Kibaki and company are not guiltless in this regard. If anything, it is now clear that the reason why we do not have a new constitution is just one simple petty thing. So petty that history will judge you very harshly for it, Mr President.

The reason we do not have a new constitution is simply because Mr Emilio Mwai Kibaki wanted to rule Kenya for 5 more short years. Yep! That's it! Just because one fence-seating blundering proud Kenyan from Nyeri wanted a second term. For what?

Kenyans should get very angry at this. I mean innocent Kenyans died, the country spent hundreds of millions that went down the drain and so many bad things have happened and are yet to happen, simply because somebody wanted to be a two-term president. Luckily there is a God in heaven and because of this selfish motive on the part of a person who took an oath on December 30th 2002 to protect the interests of ALL Kenyans and not just that of himself, his son Jimmy and the others, that oath will haunt him and he will live to deeply regret it. If it is true that the almighty has decided that Kibaki will lose the forthcoming elections, then I can assure you that this reason will be one of the ones that will be right at the top of the Almighty's list.

Now President Kibaki is involved in yet another situation where he will be forced to put his own interests first—that of negotiating over the minimal reforms required before the elections.

Mr President you are wrong. Hon Raila Odinga, you are so selfishly wrong. The rest of you 210 members of the disgraced 9th parliament, you are all so wrong. That is why I say to Kenyans once again…

Let us vote in a totally fresh 210 new faces to parliament.

The Two Anti-Kikuyu Constitutional Amendments

Moi and his cronies introduced the constitutional amendment requiring a president to garner at least 25 per cent of the votes cast in 5 provinces out of the total of 8 as an extra safety valve and precaution against losing the presidential elections. This amendment was clearly targeted at the feared Kikuyu vote in the opposition. The arithmetic clearly showed that a Kikuyu candidate who could get the support of the entire community was capable of getting enough votes to win the presidency. This is further evidence that Moi must have rigged both the 1992 and 1997 elections in his favor. The truth is that Matiba won in 1992 and Kibaki won in 1997.

Now Raila and company want to introduce yet another anti-Kikuyu law. This time the 50 per cent plus one amendment. It is clear that under the current law all the president needs is for the Kikuyu to vote as a bloc with minimal support from a few communities, and he will romp back to State House without breaking into a sweat. There is also enough Kikuyu influence in Central province, Nairobi, Rift Valley, Eastern province to give him his 25 per cent (is this the same calculation Moi did to arrive at 5 provinces instead of 4?). The President would therefore need only one more province. He can use the provincial administration to guarantee 25 per cent in North Eastern or he can distribute title deeds in Coast province to get his 5th province there.

Whatever your views are on the Kikuyu the fact still remains that they are Kenyans and the motive behind the proposed new law is WRONG. Kenyans need to sit down and openly discuss this issue and find a long-term solution, otherwise it will forver come back to haunt us.

The way to do it is NOT to play dangerous cards under the table while you smile warmly to each other above the table. That is called hypocrisy. Kenyans, it seems, love playing the hypocrite.

Jimnah Mbaru's Ridiculous Declaration

Talking of hypocrites I am still laughing as I write this after observing Jimnah Mbaru's body language as he recently stood before intelligent Kenyans and told them that if ODM Kenya remained intact and fielded one candidate in the forthcoming elections, it would cause uncertainty on the Nairobi stock exchange.

As the man was saying this his hands were fidgeting and his eyes were darting all over the place. What rubbish. No wonder there was loud laughter from the audience in reaction to his comment.

What Mr Mbaru was saying was that if Kibaki is not re-elected, it will cause uncertainty in the stock exchange.

Please note that I have included this post as a joke and not something for serious comment or analysis because Mr Mbaru's comments in this case do not deserve that.

Nation Sex Scandal: After The Muiruri Arrest, What Options For The Major Players?

This is one sex scandal that has refused to go away and it seems the disgruntled reporters at Nation center will not rest until editorial director Wangethi Mwangi, group managing editor Joseph Odindo and their play thing, Adhyambo Odera , Buzz editor leave the premises once and for all.

It has emerged that the Nation management is so desperate that they have instructed their security chief, one Mr Koskei to go around town bribing or threatening owners of back street publications like the Weekly Citizen not to carry stories on the scandal.

However, these moves have failed miserably as a new 'gutter' publication known as SPYMAN has come out boldly with extensive coverage on the slime that is said to have been going on in the Nation newsroom for several years now.

This blog has also been in the forefront of revealing the dirt at East Africa's top media house that is owned by the Aga Khan and was ironically started with 'holy' funds but has now been turned into a whore house.

What is most shocking is why does the trio hang on in spite of such damaging dossier about them. Mwangi, Odindo and Odera could be among the best-paid employees in the editorial department and resigning means they could lose lots of cash but again is the cash worth more than their reputations? For Mwangi and Odindo, tell me your marriages are not on the rocks if not on the brink of divorce.

Worse still, Imagine your teenage child reading about your sexual escapades in some newspaper or on the net. How do you explain it to him or her when you are confronted with the story?

For the human resource boss Helen Mbugua, tell me that her husband is among the happiest guys in town and does not feel a thing even when he hears the name of David Waweru, the Kenya broadcasting corporation boss.

Well, for the men involved and exposed in the sex scandal, the best thing you can do for your family and your country is to resign and rush to the church to repent. This might just save your marriages and life might go back to normal in spite of your being jobless for a while.

For the ladies, especially the married one's, doing the same thing is the only option but for the single one's like Odera , going for an AIDS test is a start and perhaps using her savings to undertake a parallel degree in a reputable university so that she won’t need to resort to desperate measures again to secure a job.

But the person who will have to shoulder full responsibility is the chief executive officer, Linus Gitahi who has handled the issue terribly ever since setting foot at Nation center and chances are that this scandal could end up doing him harm beyond his imagination.

I met Gitahi several years ago while he was a brand manager at a top pharmaceutical company and I got the impression that he is an intelligent and practical guy in touch with reality. Could I have been wrong?

Kalonzo Musyoka’s About Turn On The Steadmann Polls

In the recently released opinion polls which rated Kalonzo Musyoka a poor third position in the presidential race, his supporters swiftly dismissed it as a skewed poll but some political analysts (not this blogger) agreed with it in totality. Kalonzo too told the press exactly what his supporters had said.

In other words what Kalonzo is telling us is that when the Steadmann poll has him ahead of Raila, it is accurate but when he is third, it is inaccurate. Can you believe that?

For starters, nothing much was known about Musyoka until towards the end of last year when the media and the public put the soft speaking Mwingi North MP under a microscope and found out he had enough skeletons in his closet just like any other politician.

Kalonzo Musyoka's popularity got a heavy beating when one of the daily papers revealed the story of how he and his lawyer partner got involved in a land deal where they committed fraud. He was the deputy speaker when he got involved in the deal in question and missed jail by a whisker.

Things got worse when it was revealed that Musyoka is a big pretender who gives Kenyans the impression that he is a deeply religious person yet he is heavily involved in witchcraft activities and is almost always accompanied by a witchdoctor known as Wa Maiyo who is also a nominated councilor in Mwingi.

As if these facts were not bad enough for his image, Musyoka shot himself on the foot over the past two month's as it emerged he was the stumbling block in ODM's quest on finalizing the modalities to be used in electing its presidential candidate. It was Musyoka and his team, which boycotted sessions of meetings over trivial differences forcing the meetings to be postponed several times.

It also has to be appreciated that Musyoka has done little if not nothing in fighting for democracy in this country and on the contrary, he was an avid supporter of the tyrannical Moi era that was notorious for the abuse of human rights including denying wananchi freedom of speech.

Musyoka however has something going for him, his age and youthful looks. Being in his early 50's, he is relatively young and could still appeal to the millions of youth voters and even if he doesn't make it this time, he can always look forward to 2012 when the next elections will be held after the much awaited one later this year.

The Quiet Rise Of Islamic Fundamentalism In Mombasa?

Mombasa and the coast region as a whole has always been a quiet, peaceful sleepy place where crime and especially violent crime is still very low in comparison to the rest of the country. This is one of the reasons why many wealthy Kenyans, especially those who have attained retirement age have chosen to settle at the coast and many have bought or built homes in the up-market Nyali area.

But in recent times, it seems that things are rapidly changing. Could there be a link between the illegal settlement in large numbers of Somalis in the coastal region and what appears to be the rise of Islamic fundamentalism? Please read the other story today on illegal settlements by foreigners in Kenya.

Quip for today:
What many Kenyans have said to me; "Corruption will never ever end in Kenya."
What they meant is that it will never be brought under control. Yet because of it we have suffered so much and our children are set to suffer even more. Is there really any hope for Kenya?

========================================
There are a number of examples that are clear signs that a lot has changed for the worst in Mombasa.

Mainly because of the heat and also because of the huge foreign influence on fashion trends in the country, Mombasa like Nairobi has always boasted of its’ fair share of what a friend calls “half dressed ladies.” Some have been disgusted at this, while others have been fairly appreciative and have even been making unnecessary trips into town without anything serious to do except to “view.” Apart from the city centre, the other popular place for these “free shows” has been the Nyali area (the “Muthaiga” of the Mombasa).

But yesterday a disturbing incident took place. A young lady was stripped naked by muslim youths in full view of Television cameras. They accused her of dressing indecently and 'revealing too much.'

The poor lady was dressed in a top which revealed almost her entire back and a micro mini skirt to match as she went about her business in the sweltering heat and almost unbearable humidity that has been experienced in the city over the past few weeks.

Little did she know that she would meet 'barbarians' who have no respect for the rule of law and worse still the respect of others rights as they mercilessly roughed her up tearing her clothes to shreds while tossing her to and fro amongst themselves.

In shocking footage aired by KTN last night, it was obvious that the majority of her attackers were Muslim youths who seemed to get their 'kicks' from stripping the innocent lady who will probably be traumatized for life and will most probably need counseling to get her to walk the streets again.

What is ironical is that the Muslim extremists condemn all forms of scanty dressing and revealing one's body yet many of the commercial sex workers in Mombasa are Muslim women who leave home wearing the 'bui bui' garb which covers the whole body but on reaching their business “premises,” discard the religious garb only to reveal nothing but their “birthday suits” underneath.

What these Muslim brothers fail to understand is that Kenya is not an Islamic state but a secular one and they had no right to strip naked the young lady let alone criticize her dressing as this was none of their business just as when their sisters go about selling their bodies to westerners, nobody asks them why they allow this to go on yet that particular stunt (unlike the controversial dress code) is a crime under Kenyan laws.

It is absurd that the police did not swing into action and arrest the youths and subsequently haul them into court so as to serve as an example to others who may have similar intentions when they see the so called scantily dressed women.

Then another much worse incident took place a few weeks ago at Bokole in the Magongo area, North coast. Some rowdy youths stormed an overnight prayer meeting at a church and raped the women at the altar. The bizarre incident has been kept very quiet by all parties concerned for obvious reasons. However it is clear that the rapists were no ordinary thugs. One does not expect to steal much at a Kesha of Christians and indeed nothing appears to have been stolen. The whole purpose of the attack seems to have been the rape and specifically at the altar of worship.

There have been plenty of other tell-tale signs that things are not really the same in Mombasa.

Another very disturbing development was a few weeks back when the normally peaceful and non-controversial Muslims at the Coast threatened to disrupt the recently held world cross country championships. Mercifully they withdrew the threat at the eleventh hour after intensive negotiations with top government officials.

The government has to read the signs of the times early and ensure extremism and Islamic fundamentalism is never allowed to set root in this country as we have enough problems of our own and don’t need the likes of suicide bombers and Al Quaeda operatives to complicate our lives further.

And even more urgent is the need for the government to monitor and curb some of the activities of foreigners in the country who may have influenced the recent violent-like developments at the Coast.

While Kenyans Slept, The Country Was Sold To Foreigners

The truth is that while Kenyans are running into all sorts of problems and even open hostility trying to live and work in other countries. Foreigners are extremely comfortable in Kenya.

Part of the problem is of course corruption. The sad reality is that if you have enough money you can buy yourself a Kenyan ID and (if you want to keep things official) you can even purchase Kenyan citizenship at a price.

There is of course nothing wrong with Kenyans being so welcoming to foreigners. It is in fact one of the secrets of becoming a great nation. Just look at what happened in the United States. While the great British Empire’s strict immigration laws kept everybody out, America welcomed everybody and some of these people came in with great contributions to science and the arts.

There is evidence that the resilience of the Kenyan economy right through the dark Moi era had a lot to do with the large foreign population that has flocked into the country in recent years from war torn neighbouring countries but also from peaceful African nations further away like Nigeria.

But there has to be a limit to what foreigners can do in our country. In Kenya there are absolutely no limits, all you need to do is flash your cash and all the doors magically open for you. Take the example of Eastleigh in Nairobi. KRA collect minimal if any taxes there and even the police fear to tread in the place.

Now there are reports being received by this blogger that large chunks in some areas of the Coast are being purchased by Somali nationals posing as Kenyans. The potential threat of this to the security of the state is easy to see. But as usual the government is fast asleep and will only swing into action after trouble flares up or when it will be basically too late.

Quick Comparison With Neighboring Tanzania

This blogger who has lived in Tanzania for many years has quietly noted the rising resentment in that country against Kenyan nationals. They are regularly arrested and jailed for being in the country illegally and getting a work permit is much easier for a South African currently than it would be for a Kenyan national.

The founding father of that nation Mwalimu Julius Nyerere must be turning in his grave at this development after risking all for many years to fight apartheid in South Africa. Dar-es-salaam was the headquarters of Nelson Mandela’s ANC for many years. Now the “kaburus” reign supreme in Nyerere country.

In sharp contrast Tanzanians are having a ball in Kenya. Many of them have purchased land and even obtained ID cards. In fact there are cases known to this writer where Tanzanian nationals are harassing local Kenyans and making life very difficult for them (in their own country).

The word in Dar-es-salaam is that Kenyans are very desperate for the East African legislative Assembly to pass the much anticipated law that will allow free movement of labour and goods in the region. The Tanzanians believe that since there are no jobs left in Kenya, Kenyans want to flock into their country and take all the jobs. On average Kenyans are better educated than Tanzanians (Kenyans are in fact the most educated nation on the continent currently).

At the moment many frustrated Kenyans are being held at bay by the work permit requirements and the truth is that many of them are working illegally in Tanzania, mainly in the teaching profession and legally in so many other sectors of the economy.

The bitter reality which Tanzanians will not accept is that it is Kenyans who run the Tanzanian economy.

Those Who Know What The Swahili Word “Tamu” Means Will Understand The New Wa-tamu, Near Malindi

Driving along the Mombasa-Malindi road recently, this blogger decided to stop at Watamu, about ten kilometers from Malindi town and went to the sandy white beaches to cool off from the unbearable heat currently being experienced in the coastal area.

At the public beach in Watamu, nobody speaks English. Only three languages can be heard here, Italian, Kikamba and Kigiriama in that order. Italian happens to be the nationality of the aging white women who flock these beaches in search of sun, sand but mostly sex. And they seem to be getting all three in plenty to the extent that they tell their friends back home who subsequently visit in droves. The result is that the place is choking with Italian tourists.

What Are All These Killings In Mount Elgon About?

The divide between the haves and have-nots is probably too wide to ever bridge. Here's a classic example. Ordinary Kenyans are discriminated against because of their tribe every day while privileged Kenyans seating in air-conditioned luxury in Europe or the US castigate this blogger for discussing tribalism which they are sure exists only in the minds of a few.
========================================
Just as I removed my sandals to walk on the water, I could not help seeing two young men wearing tight 'biker' shorts with their manhood bulging conspicuously from the costumes as they flanked an elderly Italian lady who could easily pass for their grandmother.

The lady who looked seventy something walked about proudly with her 'catches' the same way a hunter would parade his game trophies. The two young Kenyans carried the lady's belongings including sun oil, handbags and all. They were conversing in Italian all this time.

I learnt later that the two boys were locals from the Giriama tribe who double up as beach boys besides working as Gigolos in business to meet the “desires and needs” of mostly aging Italian women who are heavily laden with euro's and willing to spend on the local studs.

A few meters away, a group of boys speaking Kikamba dispersed almost immediately when they saw a group of elderly and young Italians approach the beach and rushed towards them offering several items for sale in fluent Italian that also mesmerizes the visitors who stop to converse with these ‘black people speaking their language'

Many strike a deal and manage to sell items like small carvings but more strike the moreb lucrative “deal” which is friendship with the visitors who are easily convinced to hire them temporarily as tour guides since they speak their language. Those young youths who take elderly women as lovers usually start like this.

Just near the entrance to the beach, I notice a young local guy, barely 20 years old, spotting dreadlocks and wearing dark designer sun glasses. He is busy on his expensive Nokia camera phone speaking Italian to the person on the other end of the line. I later learn he is a prominent broker here and gets the Italians stuff they can't get in the supermarkets, like studs and drugs.

Many of the boys here have tales to tell of how they have traveled to Italy on several occasions with their lovers or how they live comfortable lives as their subsistence is heavily subsidized by the elderly foreign women who always return to Malindi for their annual vacation but will frequently send money to their local lover's by money transfer. (Are all the big figures of money remitted back home by Kenyans abroad skewed by this activity?).

On getting to Malindi town, somebody coming here for the first time may think that they are in Italy as there are plenty of roadside boards written in Italian and lots of restaurants and even supermarkets specializing in Italian stuff.

Almost all the white people and tourists in Malindi are Italian and legend has it that the first Italians came here in the seventy's and were mainly Mafioso looking for a place to hide as they had been marked for death by rival gangs. A visit to the Malindi casino may help you believe this tale. My jaw almost dropped clean off just looking at the kind of money being spent here. A colleague quipped that it made Nairobi Casinos look like insignificant kiosks.

Has KTN Panicked?

Kenya television network popularly known as KTN seems to have gone on panic mode after losing their top anchors Swaleh Mdoe, Catherine Kasavuli and Louis Otieno to the relatively young Citizen television.

KTN is now the home of blunders as the station makes major changes in its news production and presentation which has caused laughable mistakes that were glaring in its bulletin last night, including using wrong footage to sound going off and even echoes as they struggled through the maiden new format CNN-like live news edition.

It is worth noting that all these changes started when the top anchors left the station and many saw it as a necessary step to ensure that the anchors move was not quickly followed by the viewers hence the new presentation which seems to have heavily “borrowed” from the cable news network, CNN way of news presentation.

However, Kenya's television viewers are a sophisticated lot who will not switch stations just because their favorite anchor has. Most viewers stick to stations because of their form of presentation and most of all, the content of their news items.

Citizen has never been popular with the majority as it is considered a government-friendly station in that its owner, SK Macharia is a bossom buddy to president Kibaki. The station was extensively used as a propaganda tool for the government during the referendum campaigns along with the national broadcaster, Kenya broadcasting corporation.

KTN should not panic but instead maintain their boldness in news coverage and they will realize that there is much more to a station than popular anchors. On the contrary, they can nurture those they have been left with as there is a lot of potential and talent in them.

Beatrice Marshal, Anne Ngugi, Ahmed Darwesh and Lilian Muli are among the most promising anchors in the country and have the ability to maintain the standards at KTN. In this bloggers view, KTN should never have panicked from the start, and should have just continued doing what you have always been doing and everything would have been fine.

Introducing the new format need not have been hurried to coincide with Catherine Kasavuli and Loius Otieno’s maiden appearance on Citizen yesterday. I didn’t catch it, did any of the readers, and if so, what do they think?

Narc Kenya Woes Intensify As Cabinet Minister Says That He Will Stop Paying Monthly Subscriptions

Sports minister Maina Kamanda is also sick and tired of his party of choice. So disgusted is he that he that the usually fiercely loyal minister surprised all and sundry yesterday when he said that he was considering stopping his monthly subscription payments to the party if it does not release its election calendar immediately.

He at the same time came out in support of his trade colleague, Mukhisa Kituyi who was recently unceremoniously dropped as party chairman and replaced by an unknown Baringo East MP Asman Kamama.

According to Kamanda, Kituyi was shown the door because of his stand of agitating for elections as soon as possible and before the general elections expected in December this year.

The caustic Starehe legislator also alleges that Narc Kenya is being controlled by five members of parliament and if the past events are anything to go by, its easy to guess who are among those five mps. Are ministers Njenga Karume and John Michuki listening to Kamanda?

It seems just like ODM-Kenya, Narc Kenya's woes are far from over. The main problem seems to be rotating on the issue of elections which has become so thorny that it has been postponed twice as the modalities of how to go about them is perhaps the party's biggest headache.

Narc Kenya could have an outright presidential candidate in Mwai Kibaki but the biggest contention will be the position of his deputy as many do not have confidence in his present assistant Moody Awori and there are those eyeing the slot like Kituyi and agriculture minister Kipruto arap Kirwa who are the strongest agitators for polls while a visibly shaken Awori is on the opposing side

There are those who are saying that the whole problem of elections in Narc-Kenya has been brought about by the vice president’s slot where all the over ambitious politicians in the party see the best way of becoming president in 2012 is by being vice president now and praying that Kibaki wins this years general elections.

That is why you have people like professor George Saitoti screaming from roof tops that he is going for the party's chairmanship post so as to position himself for the vice presidency position, a post he held for several years in president Moi's administration but was dropped at the crucial eleventh hour in the dramatic professor-kimya incidenty at Kasarani. Uhuru Kenyatta was then hurriedly anointed as Moi’s successor.

Awori is also responsible for the jostling among politicians for his seat as he had earlier indicated that he would retire from politics this year and initiate his son into the murky world by supporting him for the Funyula parliamentary seat which the VP holds. Awori later abruptly changed his mind.

My information on the ground is that Awori could easily lose his parliamentary seat which has attracted a strong field of contestants including a one time area mp and now presidential aspirant, Dr Julia Ojiambo. Dr Ojimabo’s star is on the rise in Funyula and she currently looks unstoppable.

What Are All These Killings At Mt Elgon About?

Six people have been killed at the volatile Mount Elgon area by a group of gunmen dressed in police uniforms. However, what was even more shocking is that the killings were carried out less than a kilometer from a police station.

This carnage is happening in a security zone where the presence of security forces including that of the dreaded para-military force, the general service unit (GSU) and patrols have been intensified over the past few months.

Those carrying out the murders are a gang of well organized thugs who are not only armed with modern weapons but are protected by their masters who seem to guarantee them freedom from prosecution. How else can you explain carrying out a raid a stones throw from a police station?

Religious leaders in the area are saying that this carnage is as a result of land and politics and has everything to do with the forthcoming general elections later this year as politicians position themselves for re-election while others anticipate dislodging the incumbents.

The problem in Mount Elgon can only be solved by ministry of lands officials and the local politicians and truck loads of heavily armed para-military troops will only increase the suffering of wananchi in the area. In fact the GSU officers have been accused of raping minors and torching houses in the volatile area that is now classified a security zone.

Kenya Anti Corruption Boss In Corrupt Love Affair With Committee Colleague

This blogger has just come across some very interesting information as a follow up to the story we did here recently on Rev Mutava Musyimi.

Based on this new information, it is now clear that Rev Musyimi will stand on a Narc Kenya ticket (or whatever party that president Kibaki finally chooses to stand with). He has the full backing of the president who sees him as a major stabilizing factor in his next administration and will definitely be a member of the cabinet. This is assuming that Kibaki wins re-election.

There is no doubt that Musyimi wields clout and is a "clean face" amongst Kibaki backers. Interestingly these days it is becoming increasingly difficult to find any non-corrupt persons close to the President.

What also emerges from this new information is that the National Anti Corruption Steering Committee under the leadership of Musyimi has done an excellent job in research and compiling of information aimed at fighting corruption. They have visited every single province in the country and have compiled reports for every single district in the nation. And yet members are not wallowing in fat allowances and salaries like the KACC that specializes in catching traffic policemen taking 50 bob bribes from matatu touts when the big fish continue to do what they have to do. Our information is that Musyimi only gets a paltry Kshs 80,000 a month as chair.

But the committee has been dogged by a few problems that has hindered its' ability to achieve even more. Top on the list is the corrupt love affair that the director Polycarp Omollo Ochillo is having with another member of the committee. The effect of this illicit love affair is that it has triggered sharp divisions that have began to emerge in the committee as the said woman has taken every opportunity to use her powerful lover to fight her own personal wars against other members of the committee.

Interestingly despite the achievements of this body which surpasses that of any other government appointed outfit in recent memory it is said that the steering committee members often complain of the slow pace of the campaign. Ochillo believes in performance contracts, which is not a bad idea except that the contracts were drawn in closed door meetings between the secretariat top officials like Ochillo and people in the Justice Ministry. The effect is that as long as the mediocre standards of the performance contracts are met, the process can continue to be deliberately slow.

One of the ways that word of this affair has gotten out is because of the numerous embarrassing incidents that have occurred, especially during the committee’s field trips which has led to a powerful clique within the commitee deciding that the man has to go. Interestingly the man could actually leave sooner than they think and on his own will because it is believed that he is going to run for parliament somewhere in Nyanza on an ODM-Kenya party ticket. Nyatike is the seat he seems to be interested in. Naturally he needs to raise money for his campaigns. Where do you think the man will get the money? Any guesses out there?

I have exposed this illicit affair here because an entity of this caliber that is currently on the forefront of fighting corruption in the country should be impeccable and clean to retain its' moral authority to advice the president on corruption issues.

Mr Omollo is a well-known personality in journalism circles and also lectures at the School of Journalism at the Nairobi University.

Mutava Musyimi: The Next Vice President?

The truth is that the Kibaki administration never really recovered from the death of former Vice President Wamalwa Kijana. In retrospect the late Wamalwa was an amazingly effective stabilizing factor in the Kibaki government and had he lived there is no doubt that this government would have come out with a much better score card.

Naturally this has a lot to do with the late Wamalwa's personality, the man could actually talk to anybody. The very opposite of president Kibaki himself who is said to only find something to discuss with former Makerere alumni and other high ranking scholars from some of the world's top universities.

Now word reaching this blogger is that the President is very enthusiastic about Musyimi's entry into politics, which analysts believe was as a result of being urged on and prodded regularly by the president. In fact many analysts see Musyimi fitting into the shoes of the late Kijana Wamalwa and he could easily be the president's choice for Vice President.

In fact it is clear that the Rev Musyimi will be President Kibaki's secret weapon in this years' general elections.

Interestingly many people, including ODM-Kenya are still fast asleep because if they were awake they would now be directing most of their fire in the direction of Rev Musyimi.

And if I were the president I would get Rev Musyimi to launch his campaign in his own party and even vigorously campaign for the presidency himself and then step down to back president Kibaki only at the eleventh hour.

Fireworks Expected As PLO Lumumba Now Enters Kamukunji Race

PLO Lumumba, a well-known Nairobi lawyer and a key member of the Ghai commission that was meant to have given Kenyans a new constitution by now has announced that he will seek the people's mandate to represent Kamukunji constituency in parliament.

The man will not say which party ticket he will use and neither will he confirm or deny that he is interested in the presidency. In my book he would in fact be the ideal compromise candidate for the presidency.

And right from the word "go" Mr Lumumba has clearly shown the style of politics that he is going to pursue in Kamukunji. It is instructive that he announced his candidature while on a meet-the-people tour where he was seen indulging in various activities including cutting grass with a slasher.

Of course everybody has long forgotten that Lumumba was once a big supporter of the Moi regime (and probably still is) and often came out in strong defense of the regime that for 24 years took Kenya absolutely nowhere as the government policy was only the survival of Moi and looking for ways and means he and his clan would rule Kenya forever.

The Kamukunji parliamentary seat is now set to be the most hotly contested in Nairobi. Pastor Pius Muiru, who is also a presidential candidate has already expressed interest in the seat and so has Tony "Health Ministry contracts" Gacoka. Gacoka has long positioned himself to be the ODM nominee to run for the seat. Then there is the incumbent, as hard a fighter as they come, one Norman Nyagah. Phew!!

Hey What Are You Doing About The Spyman Guys Copying Your Content Word For Word?

Several people have written to ask me what I am going to do with the numerous emerging incidents where several publications are using this blog to mine for ideas and in some cases are plagiarizing the content word for word.

A new gutter press publication with an impressive countrywide distribution has in their latest issue copied several stories from this blog word for word without giving any credit to Kumekucha. The 12 page A3 newspaper format publication is called The Spyman. Their rather odd and in a way ironic slogan is; concentrated, concise, cordite and corrosive. It has surely proved corrosive in terms of content on this site.

Yesterday's edition of the Sunday Standard gave prominence to a topic that we have been dealing with here most of last week. (See story for yourself).

In a way this is the highest form of flattery anybody can give. It means that The Spyman editorial team or one-man-show thinks so highly of the content of this blog that they feel it is their duty to ensure that more Kenyans who are not familiar with the web or with this site can get access to the information. Of course it is illegal and all they would have needed to do to make it legal would have been to put a small blurb at the end of the articles with the words; 'courtesy kumekucha.blogspot.com.' I am getting some legal advice on the best way forward on this.

There is of course nothing illegal about what the Sunday Standard did. All they did (and have been doing for some time now) was to borrow a few ideas from this blog, which is acceptable. It would also imply that this newspaper and at least one political analyst at the Daily Nation trust the information on this site.

Nothing to brag about really and this blogger has never been a bragger. Still I was asked the question and I have answered it publicly rather than sitting down to write several emails including one that would have gone to Spyman (but now I am sure that the person responsible will see this article the next time they are here for their regular cut and paste operation—that's why I have mentioned the publication in my headline).

How The Power Of Viral Marketing Can Work For Kenyans

Online business feature: make money online special

Bill Gates was a little late getting into the Internet game and had to play catch up. But the richest man in the world did not get that way for nothing. Gates and his people came up with an ingenious way of promoting their free email service Hotmail. From a cold start the email service moved to millions of users in a few short weeks without any advertising. At least not of the conventional kind.

How did he do it? Hotmail included a very simple signature at the end of all emails going out from anybody with a Hotmail account. The words simply said; "Get your free email Hotmail account now. Click here." or something like that. This is a classic example of viral marketing which gets its name from the word "virus". Unknown to most people, the kind of viruses being kept in labs in Europe and the States can wipe out the whole world if released to just a few people. With air travel in the global village that is the modern world of today, by introducing a virus to a few airhostesses, you would effectively ensure that it reaches every continent within a very short time.

Whatever theory you want to side with as to the origins of Aids, this viral disease has spread to virtually every corner of the globe after starting at one tiny location (whether it was New York with the junkies or in Africa with the monkeys and apes—this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard from full grown men calling themselves scientists but I have a research scientist friend who is the same colour of skin as mine who swears it is true.)

The Internet by its' very nature was born, and continues to grow, virally. It started with two computers linked to each other and is now a World Wide Web of computers linked to each other.

Now online entrepreneurs have taken viral marketing to new heights. Apart from email signatures there are programs where instead of paying cash for something, you simply refer a friend or two to the same program. The whole idea is to get a huge data base that can be targeted with marketing and advertising.

Viral marketing is a key strategy in making money online and it is a good idea for Kenyans to start opening their eyes as to what is happening on the Internet in terms of business and online money making opportunities. I recently read of an online entrepreneur who made over $100,000 (Kshs 6.7 million) from his online business within a recent month. And his case is not unique, although naturally not everybody makes this kind of money.

Advertiser's Announcement: Wedding Favors

They say that there are only three important occasions in the life of a human being, the day of birth, the wedding day and the day when you die. The first and the last we unfortunately have no control over it but when it comes to our wedding day, we want to take control of everything from the kind of people you want to attend to the food that your guests will eat. There is now something special that the internet offers when it comes to wedding, the Internet wedding superstore is perhaps the best place online to find cheap wedding favors including groomsman and bridesmaid gifts with free personalization.

Biggest Risk Taken In Posting A Comment: Kumekucha Nomination For Comment Award

I would like to nominate this reader for the award of post made at greatest risk to the personal security of a Kenyan but for the good of the motherland.

This post pointed me in the right direction for research that led to new evidence and angles published only here in this Kumekucha blog that have never before been presented anywhere else in the still unsolved riddle of the Mboya assassination.

This same reader made a number of other very illuminating comments with pointers which I will not reveal for security reasons (to protect the commentator). Obviously this is a person who has worked with the security aparatus in this country in the past if not in the present as well.

It is interesting how many younger generation Kenyans who have never studied the history of Kenya and especially the life and death of Tom Mboya get upset when we mention that tribalism exists in Kenya and it is a dangerous monstor that should be faced and not swept under the carpet (like they want us to do). It is impossible to understand Kenyan politics if you have no idea who Mboya was, a man who relied on almost 90% Kikuyu votes during his entire political career... that was before the Kisumu riots and deaths and the propaganda that followed. My friends I do not peddle lies here, only very carefully researched truths that you are free to investigate on your own an verify.

Please my dear readers, study the history of your country and don't come to this blog to get upset over things you do not understand. PLEASE.

Congratulations to this annonymous blogger. Whoever you are, thank you for loving your country enough to have given us these and other vital leads.

On the right track Chris. To describe Kingsway House as eerie confirms that I was not the only one who shuddered when I entered that building. I visited it when it was Kenya's hub of intelligence and indeed Nyayo or Nyati houses pale in comparison. Blood curdling is the phrase I would use. You have explored TJ's threat to the status quo very well. Let's rummage abit further, who were the intelligence apparatchiks at that time (1969)? Indeed one very relevant observation you made is that there were no mobile phones then, so that 'wet job' involved considerable operational and communication resources. Only the security organs had these resources. I believe this matrix holds the key...a garden path that keeps getting missed year in year out.

Kumekucha Comment Nomination: Most Solid Solution-Packed Comment Ever

I would like to nominate the following comment as the most solid solution-packed comment ever and quite timely too because it addresses a pressing Kenyan problem that needs to be dealt with immediately.

Without national healing, and not just for tribalism, but for corruption and other injustices against the Kenyan people, it will be virtually impossible for us to reach the promised land that we all crave so much, let alone have a real new beginning.

May the good Lord in all his mercies bring such a day to pass in Kenya.

Thank you Phil and congratulations;

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "The Kikuyu Question: The Way Forward":

Phil Says:

Thank you Chris for saying it as it is. Rather than have the Kukuyus jump start your proposed national healing, I would propose that:

a) the current constitution must be done away with in totality. Let us have a complete new one that will, among other things, have the executive powers devolved to parliament, judiciary and other offices. I will quickly add that Raila Odinga DOES NOT have to be Prime Minister or Vice President. This will demystify the Kenyan presidency once and for all. The current powers of the presidency are too much open to abuse as we have experienced since independence.

b) establishment of a truth and reconcilliation commission. This will not only give Kikuyu brethren an opportunity to repent and embrace the rest of Kenyans as you have suggested, but will also create a platform for individuals who may have committed political assasinations, high level corruption and other crimes against humanity to repent without fear of persecution.
