Hoo Ndii Emm Woyee As Mystery Of The Mammoth Crowd Persists
It is a fact that PNU struggled to fill the 40,000 capacity Nyayo Stadium during President Kibaki’s presidential campaign launch just over 2 weeks ago. Some of the gymnastics that the party had to go through included helping to finance national delegates conferences for affiliate parties which were organized at about the same time so as to avoid at all costs the Stadium being embarrassingly empty.
So the big mystery that almost every Kenyan on the street is talking about is how the 8% party managed to attract such a mammoth crowd to Uhuru Park.
All sorts of rumours are flying;

I remember the evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke, pulling crowds of over half a million faithfuls to Uhuru Parkin the middle of the week.
ReplyDeleteJokes aside, Kalonzo certainly pulled a fast one. Whereas, no urgent extraordinary meetings at PNU/ODM headquarters took place on Sunday night, it is safe to assume that one of the last agenda items in political party meetings this week will discuss the massive crowds of close-to-Raila proportions (and its source). This was a major confidence booster for Kalonzo and like he, all Kenyans are anxiously awaiting the Steadman poll results. If he remains or goes below 8%, mental depression will see him confine himself in ukambani until 2012. The type of anti-depressant drugs that will be needed to cure his type of depression are not yet available in the open market.
Chris- you have neglected to mention the most credible rumor of all. You see, there's this very old Kamba witchdoctor with the powers of actualizing alternate universes by simply clapping his hands three times. I'm told he clapped 12 times and suddenly the actual number of Kalonzo supporters multiplied by four. This explains why Vikii was spotted at the podium, in the crowd, at a matatu heading to Uhuru Park and at the Garden Square pub.all at the same time.

Oh yeah, Chris I am in total agreement. You dont suprise me at all. The rally at Uhuru park on the sixth of October was so much worth of praise. You kept repeating the exaggerated figure of 400,000 and going on and on about how ODM was winning with an unimaginable landslide. Events of the weekend have you now reminding us of a once upon a time Charity Ngilu's presidential bid. They must have had an excellent professor teaching "Fundamentals of Double Standards" at your college.
ReplyDeleteLet us try to understand some of these things properly and especially the Raila Odinga ODM herd in this blog need to take notes: Turn-outs at political rallies mean absolutely nothing. That is why I sincerely feel that people should stop reading too much when idlers jam stadia sporting party colours and singing at the top of their voices. The only kenyan politician whose rallies translated to votes was Ken Matiba. All the other guys' have been trials and will be in the forseeable future. It is important for people to understand that all these rallies, be they called Thunder or whatever are held at the city of Nairobi, and towns like Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, kakamega and Machackos. These towns are home to a very small proportion of the registered voters. The bulk of the Kenyan voter is in the rural places and the earlier the loud ODM crowd understands this the better. This is purely for their own good. We need to avoid shock u know!
Big rallies or not, I will remain a staunch supporter of Kalonzo Musyoka. If Kibaki wants to talk next year, then we can always educate him on modern leadership. He has to show respect for partners in government though.
Kalamari, I am not at liberty to engage in the kind of discussion you prefer. My friend Kioko is however very good at the subject matter you appear to fancy. I am sending him an email before i go to bed and I am just hoping that you guys will have a wonderful chat.
I am reliably informed by management of Citti Hoppa, they received a fat cheque sometime last week to hire tens of the buses to ferry wananchi from city suburbs to Uhuru Park. I have a copy of the cheque which I will not publish nor reveal the amount here for purposes of protecting my sources. It was signed by someone very close to the Kalonzo Foundation. These buses were to ferry passengers for free last Saturday from Kawangware, Uthiru, Githurai, Rongai, Kiserian, Mlolongo, Athi River, Kasarani, etc. Each passenger in these buses was to be paid Kshs. 200/- for return fare and refreshments. T-shirts were distributed for free at Uhuru Park (this was shown live on TV). All this planning was finalised on Thursday last week, and that is the time Kalonzo started talking about a miracle and the beginning of the real race.
ReplyDeleteWhen ODM strategist got wind of this, they put their grassroot machinery into gear to their supporters to turn-up in large numbers at Uhuru Park, so as to throw PNU strategist off-track and give Kalonzo a false sense of security. Anyone driving past Uhuru Park could see many PSV buses and mini buses parked around the church and railway club waiting for its "passengers". Who funded Kalonzo is now the BIG QUESTION!!!! TV cameras captured Kalonzo charting heartily to one Gideon Moi and this was later confirmed by Kalonzo himself. Why would Gideon Moi, a self-confessed KANU life member, place a call to Kalonzo in the middle of a public rally and a presidential campaign launch at that? And why would Kalonzo, a president wannabe, have his mobile phone ON, and in his own pocket (not an aide's) at the same venue? Si nilikuambia nita lipa deni - he was overheard boasting. Both Moi’s and Kalonzo last met at the Chesire home during the matriarch’s funeral. Gosh, isn’t this the same person who was booed in several public meetings just last month?
Kalonzo's last trip abroad was to South Africa, Johannesburg, Sandton to be specific. Whom did he meet and what was the purpose of this trip???? (Continue reading the story for answers).
Meanwhile, Moi having failed to convince Kibaki about his value addition into his re-election plans, is planning another move to wooing Kalonzo to Kibaki's side, with a promise of a Vice Presidency. It is the same card Moi used unsuccessfully in 2002. Whether Kalonzo accepts this or not is yet to be seen, but closeness Moi's Family is something Kalonzo would 'kill' for in order to access the vote-rich Rift Valley province. Our informer further reveals that Kalonzo's role in splitting the Orange Group is something that was planned and executed for ages. Both Maanzo and Chepkonga were awarded well for their efforts in ensuring the real ODM secretariat does not win control of the original ODM-K.
Moi was originally drafted into the Kibaki re-election plans to fight the ODM and to make sure a repeat of the referendum defeat did not take place. Shortly before the aborted London trip, all the ODM presidential candidates apart from Nyagah, Ojiambo and Balala were in state house on seprate days.
Kalonzo was first to be summoned and offered a vast amount of money to ensure none of the luminaries travelled to London to join Raila for what was called a bonding trip. A deposit of funds were made to Kalonzo to 'share' with the rest, with the balance to paid before the ODM-K nominations. We remember Kalonzo's strange behavior during those days; insulting party supporters at rallies in Garissa and Mombasa. Launching a colourful vision and presidential campaign, etc. etc. Ruto was also summoned to state house and offered Kshs. 5b to return to KANU and reject ODM, infront of Moi, Kibaki and Uhuru, but he declined telling Kibaki: "What if Raila comes back and declares Ruto Tosha, just like he did for you Your excellency?" Kibaki and Moi were unable to answer young Ruto.
Mudavadi on his part was surprised that on entering the state house lounge to find his his own mother having tea with Moi, Uhuru and Kibaki, and in the same manner was prevailed upon to cross over to GNU. He declined and shed tears in front his mother, reminding them of the humiliation of 2002. He pointed his finger at Uhuru and told the rest, "mimi niliweka maisha yangu chine kwa sababu ya Uhuru, sasa yeye pia ya faa aniunge mkono"....
During Kalonzo's last trip to SOuth Africa, Kalonzo met and had meetings with a Kenyan of Indian origin, now living in exile. The same Indian is said to be close to the Moi's and is extensively mentioned in the Kroll Report. The purpose of the meeting was for Kalonzo to collect his part of the balance payment for splitting the orange movement. He can deny it, but the itinerary down south is well recorded. The rest of the work, ie. of ensuring the re-election of the president we are told lies in the hands of Moi - in return for guaranteed political insurance. And only one man stands in the way of Kibaki's re-election. That man is Raila Odinga. He has been forced to spend many nights outside his own Karen home. He changes cars all the time, and no one knows how he will arrive and leave any public function; The same man now wears a body armour suit at all times he ventures outside, and is apparently spending a lot of time holding strategic meetings near the Israeli Embassy next to the famous PanAfric and FairView Hotels. Jamming devices have been fitted at that rendezvous and strange men hover around there 24/7. The man is under siege from all directions. His personal security, his family, his constituency, his political party, his close associates, etc. etc. All because Moi has identified him as the only hurdle to Kibaki's re-election and ultimately his own peaceful retirement.
Why is the president is dilly dallying on the issue of dissolving parliament? We know MPs always run to parliament to avoid arrest or to make statements which they would otherwise not make outside parliamentary privilege.
Is it because the president fears the corruption bombshell(s) that adversely touch on his family and government, which are in the hands of several ODM supporting MPs will be published? Why is Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo being harrased yet he is the one who reportedly made a complaint to the KACC about CDF misappropriation in his constituency? Does he also have in his possession one of the famous recordings on tape? ODM are said to be waiting for the right time before unleashing what will be their main campaign coup against President Kibaki - several tape recordings, now reproduced on several CD's - and planned to be played in ODM campaign rallies countrywide, because media houses have flatly refused to play any of those tapes - one of which was the main reason why the Standard and KTN were raided one chilly night.
Watch this space.
Wow! Boy that was a mouthful. It is another season of heavy dose but whether they are the right prescription only the doctor knows.
ReplyDeletePhil, your insinuations are so strong so much such that they all smack of vengeance and should I add propaganda. People staying in glass houses should never carry a stone leave alone throwing one. So why not scrutinize RO's itinerary too to SA/US/UK/Korea et al.
Kalonzo has all the right to associate with whoever he fancies. And why ask his source of funding while keeping a tight lid on his opponents' sources. A clear case of multiple standards or is ODM running scared already? Tell us whether the honeymoon blitz is wanning.
These are not insinuations. Actually they are MOUTHFULS as you call them Taabu. My little dictionationary tells me: "when you say a mouthful - it means in informal American English - - to say a lot of true and important things about something in a few words".
ReplyDeleteIf you are an old enough Kenyan who knew President Moi's modus operandi well then you cannot fail to see the true dirt that is Nyayo politics. And we are not running scared. We respect and uphold democratic ideals.
What is it that Moi has against the ODM that elicits such strong opposition. All those people in ODM, PNU, ODM-K used to work for Moi/KANU at one time or another. It was during Moi's time that section 2a of the constitution was repealed to create multi-party democracy. Why isnt he Moi, and may I also add Kibaki, respect that people have the right to choose what they want?
Another thing, Raila's international and local itineraries , including details of his hosts and sponsors are all published at his official website and numerous other websites. His speeches overseas have been debated widely including the last one in Denver whereby he dwelt on Tribalism in Africa is subject of debate in so many forums on the net. Therefore my friend Taabu, I have facts not propaganda. I am holding cheque drawn in favour of Citti Hoppa. We have witnesses who support ODM, actually ODM members, and who attended Kalonzo's launch in person, many of them.
I am challenging anyone to tell us what Kalonzo's agenda was to SOuth Africamet in Sandton during his last visit to RSA?????
Moi is against ODM because it is a tribal party. It is impossible for a former President to remain silent when the country is being taken to the dogs. Phil, do you know that the Nairobi stock Exchange has lost Sh200B since the day irresponsible newspapers gave Raila a lead over President Kibaki? Sh200B is well over and above the roast groundnut trade controlled by your tribesmen. By the way, have you stopped complaining about the high price of sugar? Do you need sugar for you omena and ugali dishes? sorry, no free omena in 2008 as it is either President Kalonzo or President Kibaki. You will also be paying house rent.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil,
ReplyDeleteWhat of this issue going round on vote buying in ODM stronghold? How about these inexperienced officials being appointed to manage the coming elections? Is it the beginning of election fraud and riging?
Once again, thnks
Phil's stories are so long. I have to go and I will be back in exactly 8 hours. I will respond to the lies. The reason I believe they are lies are found at the point I stopped reading. When you talk of Mudavadi crying in front of is mother, does she live in state house? I am asking this coz, the same Mudavadi cried right in front of his mother and mother in law at the same in state house in 2002.
ReplyDeleteI will tell you what Kalonzo's agenda in SA was.
Why do some bloggers continue to accept and flaunt their ignorance. How can ODM be a tribal party as opposed to a national one, when it is comprised of of all major ethnic groups, even the pentagon is comrprised of 5 distinct nationalities. When people read leaders from PNU and some of the blogger on this site make those claims, it makes one question the quality of education in our country. I suppose PNU is a national party right, or ODM-K. Well at least the latter is more diverse but honestly people stop lying to yourselves, you do not have to like ODM or its leaders but criticize them intelligently then perhaps you can help PNU with their campaign strategies.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Vikii. The idiot should be asked to paste his stupid grandmother stories elsewhere as we need space for intelligent contributions. Who cares if the elections are fraudent or not? what is important is the defeat of Raila and his bunch of stone throwers.
ReplyDeleteThe above blogger is another who believes ignorance is bliss!!
ReplyDeleteYes Mr. Phil. Now what was your argument?
ReplyDeleteYou see u wrote such a long article you got me late for work. Reread your post and tell me what it is all about. Do you find it relevant?
I will not respond to some of the stuff because it is not worth my response. I will however correct you on two things.
One, Mudavadi cried in state house upon seeing his mother in 2002 (Not 2007). You should have checked the date of the article before copy pasting it. From there, he went straight to Transcom and back to Stateouse where he announced he was backing Uhuru. He returned to Transcom as a VP.
Two, you can lie about many other things but one of them is not Kalonzo's last visit to South africa. Kalonzo is a politician and a grown man. I am not his wife to claim to know his every whereabouts but I will tell you that Kalonzo went to SA under the invitation of Geoffrey Mutunga Nzau (The Africa CEO of Alexander Forbes Financial services and Actuaries). Nzau's nephew was graduating from graduate school at the University of Witwatersand. He stayed at Nzau's Johannesburg home for two days. I attended the celebration myself and that is why you need to stop these Kinyozi rumours as Derek once told you. In attendance too was The Hon Justice Onesmus mutungi, the man who introduced Kalonzo to Nzau in 1999. Nzau has been funding Kalonzo's political activities starting with the Kilome by election (Moi's relationship with Kalonzo had apparently gotten strained and he wanted KANU to lose the seat so he could fire him. That is why he encouraged Mwau to vie. KICC denied him money for the by election and that is where Nzau came in. He funded his referendum campaigns too and they are very tight. That shows why he had to go especially after being invited. What else he did, I will not claim knowledge of but all you asked for was his agenda and I believe I gave it to you.
About Raila sleeping outside his home, it is not new for opposition politicians to live in fear. Orengo always did it and I am told that Kalonzo kept changing hotels in 2002 for fear of being kidnapped and frogmarched to Kasarani. It always happens.
That said, please tell us facts. You can preserve these lies for such a time when I stop reading kumekucha. I am one person who cant swallow your lies Phil and I kmow you know it.
Yes Vikii toboa. Lakini all those details, kwani wewe ni AIDE wa KM (no wonder you HATE anybody in his way) ama wewe ni wa KM as Chris hinted sometimes back. It is possible because you were only one year old when KM joined politics in 1983. Toboa more bwana mjua yote!
ReplyDeleteMy first post was based on the article by Chris regarding the crowd that turned up at Uhuru Park last saturday. I explained how it happened, Vikii opted to give that a wide berth. OK.
ReplyDeleteSimilarly, he doesnt have any explanation for that 'miracle' phone call by Kroll Report TARGET No. 2 (Gideon Moi) to Mr. Steve Musyoka, in the middle of his all important presidential launch. It is even stranger that his cellphone was on and in his own pocket. Kroll Report TARGET 2 owns property in South Africa and it is a well known fact that his wahindi pointmen live in RSA managing these properties for him and that these gentlemen organised to meet Kalonzo while he was attending a 'graduation ceremony' after taking a break from the hectic ODM campaigns/presidential launch and politics. FYI, last month, even Kibaki was unable to personally attend a Heads of State conference in New York for the current number one mankind threat called Global Warming/Climate Change just because of local politics and the fact that his coalition unveiling and presidential campaign launch were due. However, Kalonzo, the self proclaimed leader of the third and final liberation has time and resources to attend 'a mere graduation ceremony' with Vikii towing along. That visit lasted nearly a week. That was one hell of a lengthy graduation ceremony. Ha! Does this professor live in Sandton?
Mudavadi's mother is related to the Mois and she has always been used by Moi to persuade Musalia to toe the line. It happened this year in state house. This time, it didnt work. Moi is plotting a Kibaki succession plan involving Uhuru and by extension his son Gideon, and the likes of Ruto, Raila, Kalonzo are standing in the way. Thats is it.
If Geoffrey Nzau is CEO and not a mere director, who is Rael Gordon?
