That JJ Kamotho eventually defected to DP succinctly proves the adage that in politics there are no permanent enemies only interests. Joining him in Emilio’s party (he is still the chair) are Jebii Kilimo and Cecily Mbarire.
Like him hate him JJ is one Kenyan politician you cannot ignore. He is voluble, opinionated and above all else intelligent. Now that he has joined the father of his son’s namesake JJ has once more either boarded the winning bus as in 1992/7/2002 or lost it all together. The jury is still out and I dare not swear not sweat lest I invite eggs and tomatoes on my face when the scoundrels leave their foot soldiers holding the baby immersed in murky bath tub.
As for Kilimo, she is her retracing her political steps. But I fear she is trying to re-invent the wheel too late in the day. Marakwet used to be referred to as Othaya ndogo during DP’s formative days. But whether the good lady from knows a thing we don’t only time will tell.
Poor Cecily Mbarire! After being the handbag girl for Charity she has been left abroad and dripping wet. The poor girl finds herself sandwiched between the hard rock and political blue sea. With no constituency of her one, the coat (skirt to be sure) tail has vanished. She is no Njoki with an urbane mien and given the cultural stereotype in her Meru birthplace, her political goose is as good as cooked and digested.
Trust politicians to prioritize serving their selfish interests at whatever cost. Principles and high-sounding declarations are babies foot soldiers are shamelessly left to hold onto when they have bolted to safer grounds. Na bado as the political heat soars and time ticks to December.

ReplyDeleteBut of course, this is only true when the align themselves with Kibaki/Kaloonzo?! Double stds juu any thug that joins Raila is a hero. Mama Rainbow (ok, she is a real heroine, having done the un-tribal. Only her 'defection' added zero votes to the team she joined.) Jirongo, what? Na bado.

ReplyDeleteDP may be the only hope they have, remember the flower party had alredy done their grassroot elections. For Kamotho and Mbarire DP and Narc-K (under PNU) are the partied that can sell in Central Province and Meru. I dont have words for Jebii's move.
