As Nairobi Burnt… ODM Continued Their Squabble Over The Party's Presidential Nomination

archive

As Agent Kaluki Ngilu was doing Kenyans proud, ODM presidential hopefuls were busy discussing (actually the right word here is squabbling) over which one of them should be president.

The latest in this circus for those who have not heard, is that Kalonzo Musyoka, David Musila and JJ Kamotho have defected from LDP to the Labour Party Of Kenya, which is headed by Julia Ojiambo. Some angry ODM supporters were heard to quip that Kalonzo has now hidden himself behind the skirts of Prof Ms Ojimabo. Incidentally news of the defection came through just hours before the high drama that ended in...

  1. Predicted here was a fact that ODM was a disaster waiting to happen. Predicted here was that Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will troop out of ODM with his tribesmen, and predicted here was that Uhuru Kenyatta would not be part of the ODM pack of hunter for Kenya’s presidency. That it has eventually happened should not surprise frequent visitor to this blog.

It is unfortunate for all democrats in this world and particularly in our beloved country that a simple idea of agreeing on who would lead is a big let down.

My President and the best gift Kenya had since independence Mwai Kibaki once said ‘Lazima wewe uongozwe. Siyo wewe tuu ndiyo lazima uongoze’.

At the end of the day, ODM particles are gathering and ruefully reflecting at the wasted two and a half years of selling the party to the country.

With nostalgia will be the mammoth crowds that they could attract in Mombasa at a joint party, the pollings that favoured their candidate and above all, the REFERENDUM that got into their heads in 2005.

When Daniel Moi said that ODM was a tribal outfit, he was dismissed as being past his sale by date. Now, what remains in ODM is the Luo ODM (read Luo Democratic Party) after Joseph Kamotho (also mentioned here last week) left and above all, Raila Odinga’s main political friend David Musila left to join their ‘tribes’.

The last three days takes politics back to 1997 when Raila Odinga left Ford Kenya to form NDP (and lost elections – finishing fourth), Ngilu led the Kamba into SDP and DP’s Kibaki remained with the ‘across River Chania’ golfing pals.

Things will now take a totally different shape. And who said that one week in politics is a long time.

Godspeed ODM and may the best presidential candidate be appointed. ‘Tosha’ is the only option. Not again. The consequences of the break-up of ODM are grave and even as diehards wish them away, they will remain with them for a long time to come.

    Watch Musalia Mudavadi!!!

  2. Very interesting times these ones especially when John Raila Githongo Odinga wants to be president of Kenya. If this is possible, then I can state with 100% certainty that Vikii will be the next senator of Nevada. My office will be next to those casinos and portuguese wine will become the breakfast menu hit in most Las vegas eateries. We can occassionally replace it with some fcking hot barcadi.

About Luo Democratic Party and the like, the die is cast. We have been lied to about how someone installed someone else in statehouse. The time to install themselves has finally come and all kenyans should watch out for the results of the coming poll carefully. I have argued here severally that some people are gifted in claiming credit for any success. It is now official that the coming poll's focus will be on who becomes official opposition boss and I am seeing a big upset in this. They should stf up when they are consigned to where they belong. U cannot run from the truth forever. Let's wait and see.

My heart-felt sympathy goes out to Mwalimu Mati (Gee, what's this post about?). I have known mtoto wa professor (That's how they call him in kitui) as a principled person who never shies away from what he thinks is right. Him together with the others who were in the demonstrations for the main reason as opposed to trying to reignite burried political careers, have my unreserved congratulations and encouragement. Giving campaign funds to individuals who have been fucking with the cdf for the last five years is a joke.

Sorry, I heard someone said Kalonzo has defected from ODM. That's a lie. Kalonzo is not going anywhere. Those saying so are the ones who should defect. Kaluki Ngilu has a party called Narc and they can use that one for their futile cause.
