Nairobi Water Services Have Been Taken Over By Drug Cartels, Says Kidero

Image result for Evans Kidero
In his most daring and controversial public statement ever Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero (pictured) has claimed that some un-named people connected to the illegal drug trade have taken over the provision of services that are the meant to be run by the county government.

The statement may have been spurred by the fact that the Nairobi governor is currently under intense pressure from his critics over corruption allegations linked to him. Among his harshest critics is Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, who has accused him of misappropriation of funds at the Nairobi County Government and also failing to fulfill his election pledges.

Kasanga Mulwa, Former MP, Former Judge, Is Dead

There are not many Kenyans who have the unique distinction of being both a Member of Parliament and a prominent judge. And even fewer who become MP at the tender age of 28. But all those distinctions  belong to Justice (rtd) Jackson Kasanga Mulwa who died at the Nairobi Hospital yesterday (16th March 2015).
.
Mr Mulwa, was Makueni MP (1969-1983) and has been in hospital since January when he suffered a stroke.

Kenyans Spend 44% Of Their Income On Rent

Kenyans spend about 44 per cent of their incomes on rent according to the latest annual Kenya National Housing survey.

The survey goes on to indicate that the capital city of Nairobi has the most expensive rental houses which easily fetch the highest value in the rental market.

There are 58,248 houses whose rent is above Sh20,000 a month. Three quarters of these are in Nairobi while 7,009 (or 12 per cent) are in the neighbouring Kiambu County.

Mombasa is home to seven per cent of the most expensive rental homes while Uasin Gishu, whose capital is Eldoret — is home to one per cent of the most expensive homes countrywide.

Kajiado Central Taken By ODM

It was unspeakable joy for ODM supporters when the party managed to retain the Kajiado Central seat in a very tightly contested by-election earlier today (16th March 2015).

ODM candidate Elijah Memusi won with 16,008 votes to beat JAP’s Patrick Tutui who came in second with 15,508 votes.

The Kajiado Central seat fell vacant after former MP Joseph Nkaissery was "poached" by the ruling Jubilee administration by being appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary.

Tension was high amid very high security and was made even worse when the electoral commission delayed releasing results from two polling stations. Later the election body released results from one polling station at about 10.15pm and the final results at about 10.38pm.
Some analysts had earlier predicted that the ruling JAP would "grab" this seat from ODM mostly because the Masai would be appreciative of the cabinet appointment of one of their own. But alas, it was not to be. Fascinatingly this is the only seat in Kajiado that was taken by CORD/ODM in the March 2013 elections.

Everybody knows that good writers cost a fortune which would mean that the best writing services would be out of reach for most. Right? WRONG?

Ababu Namwamba: Identity Of The Person Who Wants To Kill Him, Name Starts With "S"

If you have ever been inside a newsroom as the next day's newspaper is being put to bed then you will know that newspapermen hate press releases and public relations stuff. It is a necessary evil that they have to live with and helps fill up space but they still loathe it all the same.

Now imagine what kind of reaction you would get if you suggested that the editors fill their beloved paper ONLY with press releases and PR stuff. They would probably throw up on you.

Actually our beloved nation of Kenya is a newspaper filled only with PR. The republic of spin doctors if you like where the truth remains hidden while distractions and side shows are used to divert everybody's attention from where it should really be.

Take the recent case where somebody decided to rewrite history by re-spinning the Kibaki presidency. What better way to do this than to write a press release stating that Kibaki was just pipped to the winner's podium by this year's winner of the Mo Ibrahim African leadership award. The smart spin doctors knew that even if there was a denial the next day (and there was) the message would have gotten through and many would miss the rebuttal anyway (may you did). I bet you my entire salary that a few years from now you will hear people say that President Kibaki almost won an international award for leadership. They are pretty smart this PR guys.

===========================================================
The truth (if you care to hear it) is that the panel for the said award said that not only was Kibaki NOT on the short list but he did NOT even qualify.

Now we have the Ababu Namwamba (pictured above) saga hitting the headlines. Ask anybody on the streets what the hell it is about and some of the answers you will get are;

"Raila is fighting Ababu"
"The Raila tape"
"Ababu secretly recorded Agwambo"

And if you want us to add the very latest;

"Somebody wants to kill Ababu."

Make no mistake about it, these spin doctors and crisis managers who work for these politicians are good. Very very good. Even I have to remind myself constantly, like now what the Ababu saga is all about.

It is about CORRUPTION IN PARLIAMENT. Period.

But who cares? Better to watch the high wire drama unfold and wait to cheer the winner or is it the survivor and marvel at their ability to get out of tight corners just like our hero in our favourite movie. What about corruption? Nope, that is soooooo boring.

If you are visiting do enjoy your time in the republic of spin doctors will you. Meanwhile you can gawk at the latest very effective distraction where we have now moved to the over-used distraction called "My life is in danger." The top suspects' long name starts with "S" for Spin doctor doing his job bwana.
