Esther Passaris: The Untold Story

Shocking, shocking never-published-before details of a woman seeking public office using a “tricky” strategy

Esther Passaris has given Kenyans the impression that she wants to replace Evans Kidero as governor of Nairobi. Political analysts are saying that that is a dream for the next lifetime… and still with a big MAYBE. Those who know her well are scratching their heads wondering what the hell she is really up to because Ms Passaris is many things but she is certainly not naïve enough to believe that she can floor the likes of Mike Sonko and the other long list of political heavyweights currently impatiently knocking at Evans’ Kidero’s door with the intention of moving into his rather exaggeratedly plush office before the end of this year.
Okay it is rather obvious that mama Supuu (as she is often referred to by Nairobians) loves to be in the limelight. But there are many other ways of remaining in the limelight without setting oneself up for a spectacular flop in the ruthless no-mercy Nairobi political arena...(Download/read online the entire issue of Kumekucha's raw notes for FREE NOW and read on)

* Find out what Nairobi men think and feel every time they see Esther Passaris.

* Ms Passaris is on record for saying that Uhuru Kenyatta vigorously fought her attempt to get into politics. Find out the truth of what was really happening behind the scenes.

* One Nairobi blogger described Esther Passaris thus; She is a toxic mixture of beauty and brains. Is this true? The answer comes from those who know her well and it will make your eyes pop out.

* Did Passaris go into politics because of what happened with the multi-million shilling minting Adopt-a-light contract signed with the then Nairobi City Council in 2012?

* Find out how this woman is no coward. She stood up to the "Muthaiga gang" and kept coming back at them even as she lost, sometimes very dirty political schemes being employed against her.

* Read it all in Kumekucha's raw notes. Now free to download and read online or in your smart phone. Albeit while taking the following warning from Kumekucha very seriously;

Michael Joseph's BIG secret: Billionairethink Kenya Issue No 1

A lot has changed since I started the Kumekucha blog in May 2005. That realization came crushing down on me last week when I realized how upset JUBILEE supporters here were at me. And for what? Being honest as I have always been? In the good old days people didn't care what positive thing or negative point you were revealing about any political party. These days the atmosphere in the country remains toxic with tribal ma-feelings. You can thank Kibaki for that and his desperation to get re-elected in 2007, even when the people of Kenya had already said NO!!

Anyway I still love my guys who happen to be sympathizers of the ruling party. I DO NOT love you less for your political views (and I don't want you to change your political views EVER). BUT I urge you to return the favor... and NOT love me less because I said some bad (but 1000% TRUE) things about a political party that has never paid you kshs 5/-
...if you can overcome those demons of tribalism. Am sure you can.

Let's move on, shall we?

Today I am happy to stay out of politics and talk about something we can all agree on. Business and making money.

Money is very, very tight in Kenya just now. And things are bound to get worse according to my economist friend and chief advisor who you guys have to thank for the fact that I have never gotten economic predictions wrong in here in Kumekucha.

I know for a fact that some of you are in business and others are aspiring to go into business and so I know you will be delighted at the launch of our brand new section every Monday in Kumekucha dubbed Billionairethink that talks about making money and gives you some invaluable tips which I am certain will help any entrepreneur or start up turn around things.

It is run by a guy we call in the office "the other Chris". Christopher Kyalo who has been a business consultant (for mostly start-ups and small businesses) in Kenya for close to 20 years now and has written many books some of which we have shared here with you here in Kumekucha (and many of you have written back thanking me, lakini you did not attach my ka-commission from the cash you made as a result (just kidding).

In this post I provide a download/read-only link to information that you guys will find fascinating KABISA. It is how you and your loved ones will deal with the coming very difficult months. According to Dr. David Ndii, the current government (NOT Kikuyus) has plundered so much so that our economy is on its' knees meaning that we are already in trouble even if most of us don't know it yet. Ndii said that. NOT me (so please no ma-feelings).

The Safaricom story is a fairytale that every entrepreneur in Kenya and beyond should learn plenty from. How does a company that did not exist just the other day suddenly become the most profitable company in the region?

Well, you can be sure that it did not happen by accident or fluke. It all started with the arrival of a mzungu (in his late fifties) with a briefcase to a small office in the then Telecoms house. The room was so small that it is smaller than the single rooms that most Kenyans rent countrywide in big cities and towns.

To his head office the mzungu was nothing. Just a hard working man who had very limited formal education and could therefore NOT be sent to a big market in Europe or South East Asia. But what made a huge difference was the BIG get-customers secret that mzungu had in his briefcase (more about that in a bit. That secret can help anybody do BIG miracles!!

Interestingly this mzungu, was sent to Kenya by a company called Vodafone which is a giant British group that is one of the world's largest mobile operators. Vodafone had just bought majority shares in Safaricom from Kenya Posts and Telecommunications a collapsing government parastatal then that had been robbed blind by politicians.

The bosses in London believed that it was impossible for Kenya to get more than 400,000 people owning a mobile phone. To them Kenya would always be a "small market". And it looked like they were NOT wrong because when the mzungu they sent arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, Safaricom had only 20,000 customers.

That mzungu who was sent by Vodafone is of course Michael Joseph. Incidentally one of the other reasons Mr Joseph ended up in Kenya was because of his limited formal education. Economist magazine put it thus; Mr Joseph was picked for the Kenyan job because he lacked the finishing-school polish required to be a European boss.

The lesson here is that it is NOT a good formal education that makes you successful or enables you to get plenty of customers for your make-money venture. A good formal education is good but if life never gave you that it is NOT THE END.

But what BIG get-customer secret did Mr Joseph have in his briefcase that has transformed Safaricom from that small room in Telecoms house to one of the biggest and most profitable companies in East and central Africa and beyond?

What secret is this that was also applied to a small struggling clothes boutique by this writer (the other Chris) with magical results? Get all your answers in seconds in the eMag.

What You Must Know Before Purchasing A Metal Detector

It is becoming increasingly important in Kenya to always put safety concerns at the top of your mind. And if the latest travel advisories from the US embassy in Kenya are to be believed then 2017 is a year that Kenyans need to take all the security and safety precautions they can marshall.

One very useful security gadget is a metal detector. However many are ignorant of it and the result is that you may easily end up in a fool's paradise with something that does not really serve your purpose.

So here is some useful background information that will no doubt make you much more knowledgeable about metal detectors.

For starters a metal detector has many more uses than most folks would imagine. For instance did you know that they are also very commonly used to detect tiny fragments and foreign bodies in food that should not be there? In the construction industry metal detectors are very useful in finding wires buried in walls and floors or steel reinforcing bars deep in pipes and concrete. They are also indispensable to many archeologists.

A mobile metal detector that can be carried around will usually have a sensor and when metal is detected a needle will move on an indicator or the tone of noise it makes will change becoming higher pitched. More often than not an indication of the proximity of the metal will be given by the detector. The closer it is the higher the tone of noise it will make or the higher the needle indicator will climb where a needle reading is being used.

However the metal detector that has become very common and is widely used around the world these days is the stationary walk through metal detector for security screening at all kinds of institutions. Places like prisons, airports and courthouses can hardly do without them. What they are supposed to do is to detect concealed metal which in most cases will be weapons but could also be other undesirable items that have metal on them.

Early History of The Metal Detector

The early development of the metal detector has been linked to miners and prospectors of precious metal. It was naturally a huge advantage for any miner to have such a useful gadget to assist in quickly detecting and finding ore-bearing rocks in a large area. The first machines were hardly efficient and used too much battery power. Still they proved useful enough for people to keep purchasing them spurring continuous developments and improvements.

Fascinatingly, the other application that influenced early development of the metal detector was in the medical profession and specifically in helping find bullets lodged inside human patients.

Metal Detectors For Security

Detectors used for security screening are the most visible and common these days. VLF or very low frequency is used in most of these devices. More sophisticated ones will have low radiation x-rays for screening.

The two different types of security metal detectors are walk-through metal detectors and hand held ones. Both types have gotten pretty sophisticated over the years. For instance we now have super scanner detectors that will quickly detect the presence of razor blades, knives and even medium sized pistols. The walk through ones can check baggage and fabric for even when the target objects are non magnetic.

The metal detector has also been developed considerably for more efficiency, reliability and durability. They now boast of a much longer battery life and are much more sensitive than they were just a few decades ago.

Different Technologies in Use

There are a number of different technologies that have been applied to different types of metal detectors that are in the market today. For instance detectors that have micro processors are capable of automatically eliminating any electrical interference via x-ray devices. Those based on digital technology will have a wider coverage in detection. Also some of the features that have been worked in these days include water proof electronics to protect the equipment from water spray damage and humidity. We even now have underwater metal detectors that work pretty well. As the name suggests, these are used to find metallic objects that are submerged in water.

What You Need To Know In Buying  A Used Metal Detector

Brand new metal detectors can sometimes be quite pricey and so chances are that you will at one time find yourself in the market for a used one.

Here are a few pointers that will no doubt be useful.

You will either be looking for a metal detector to use on land or under water. Naturally a land metal detector cannot be used under the water. However most underwater detectors will also work pretty fine on land.

It is also important to note that manufacturers these days have detectors that have been designed to work best in finding specific groups of metal or metal items. For instance there are those detectors best suited for gold. Others for coin and jewelry while still others are best suited for relics.

Therefore in seeking a used detector you will have to do a little research with the various manufacturers so that you are clear in your mind what particular brands and models will suit you best. This is a much better idea than just blindly going for any kind of metal detector that you can find at a good price.

An excellent place to do lots of research quickly is in relevant online forums such as TreasureNet and FindMall. Here you are bound to benefit from the years of experience and trial and error learning of many of the members.

Where To Buy A Used Metal Detector

It is fairly easy to find a good used metal detector. Most people who purchase them barely use them and after the initial excitement of purchase will leave them lying around gathering dust somewhere in the basement or garage. This is the reason why an excellent place to find used metal detectors is at online classified ad sites like CraigsList which will often list metal detectors at a good price.

When you are looking for a very specific type of metal detector then you should have better luck with online auction sites and online metal detector stores.

Is One of The NASA Principals A JUBILEE Mole?

Many Kenyans are very excited about the brand new National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition that has supposedly brought all opposition political parties together.

There have even been jokes on social media about how JUBILEE will pack up their bags and go home as early as 10am in the morning on voting day. Others have joked about how worried President Uhuru Kenyatta must be and how he is probably already shaking in his boots. In fact one political site has gone as far as claiming that a hurriedly convened meeting was called at State house to discuss the matter, participants being in panic mode.

Well, for starters I do NOT believe that the president is that shaken. One of the reasons is that (according to my impeccable sources) the ruling coalition has a mole right inside the coalitions’ top leadership or principals as they are called. That means NASA will not be able to sneeze without the JUBILEE high command being aware of it, let alone come up with a strategy that they will not hear about long before it is even executed.

Duale's '82 Coup Remarks Could Lose Votes For JUBILEE

Already choking on the words he vomited at Mark Too's funeral on Monday. But the damage could be much more

The Kalenjin community are an extremely sensitive lot and it is said "hasira yao iko karibu" (loosely translated they have a very short temper).

While it is understandable that majority leader Aden Duale is extremely close and a indeed a bosom buddy of Deputy President William Ruto. And that he feels the need to be over-eager in defending the deputy President in his ongoing turf war against the Baringo senator, Gideon Moi, Hon Duale should have thought twice before he made the remarks he made. The offending remarks were in fact made at (of all places) the burial of former KANU politician Mark Too on Monday.

"My father in law picked up your dad Moi, from the bushes during the 1982 coup attempt and now Gideon it is your turn to carry Ruto on your back," Duale boomed in his usual careless, carefree, diarrhea of words. And in that style of his of shoot the mouth off first and ask questions later.

Duale has a really poisonous tongue because this is not the first time he has gotten into trouble for opening his mouth without thinking through the consequences of what he is vomiting out.

Many Kenyans will remember the hilarious incident, which also happened in the Rift Valley where Duale was dressing down the Bomet County governor Isaac Ruto for corruption and unaccounted for funds in his county.

"Hii si pesa ya mama yako.." (This is not your mother's money). Isaac Ruto stood up in a fit of rage breathing fire and had it not been for the quick intervention of those around a fist fight was a certainty.

The picking-Moi-from-the-bushes comment could end up being very costly for Duale and JUBILEE. Costly enough to lose votes in an area that already looks like it is going to be split with votes being divided between JUBILEE and KANU. As I have said in my latest book, Elections 2017: This is what is set to happen KANU is an affiliate party of JUBILEE but voters in the Rift Valley can very easily do crazy things just to spite Duale for his remarks.

So did it really happen? Was Moi picked from the bushes in 1982?
It is said that soldiers loyal to President Daniel arap Moi went all the way to Kabarak to collect him and bring him back to Nairobi in a military operation dubbed operation maji machafu. When Moi saw the soldiers he at first thought that they were part of the coup and had come to kill him. Now it has never been said that Moi was in the bushes hiding when the soldiers came and it is unlikely that he was. Fascinatingly it is believed that the then president was brought back to Nairobi inside a combat military tank.

Museveni Has Assisted In Fiddling Of Elections in Kenya... And Will Continue To Do So

Any mention of a foreign country involved in local politics elicits wide yawns and disinterest. A foreign country influencing things in Kenya? Get out of here!!

The truth is that it is almost standard procedure in International espionage to use foreign allies to do dirty work in your own backyard. This has many advantages the key one being that if something goes wrong you retain your deniability. Just do a little research.

Now most Kenyans in the dark like President Yoweri Museveni. But apart from stripping stark naked dissident opposition women politicians in Uganda, he has contributed a lot to the fiddling of Kenyan elections. Kumekucha's latest raw notes (to be released later today and FREE since the beginning of the year) reveals just how and what he plans to do in Elections 2017.

2017 Elections: What Is Set To Happen

Kenyans are about to go into perhaps the trickiest general elections in the country's history.

Tricky because we have been treated to four years of buck-passing, amendments that favour politicians and even stalling by the powerful who have carefully analyzed some of the implications on crucial implementations to our new constitution. The result is that we still have structures that are too weak to withstand the madness that catches on around election time.

It is in that backdrop that a special edition of my raw notes (available for free since the beginning of this year) reveals what we are set to face.

Please bear with me I start this with a story.

It was late 2002 and we were all wildly celebrating the end of the Moi and KANU era. Nobody and I mean nobody could have predicted what happened that memorable December 2002. Even famed Mutahi Ngunyi had said before the elections that it is naïve and unrealistic for anybody to imagine that KANU could possibly be uprooted from power.

Wise old Njenga Karume (now deceased) had abandoned his old ally and bossom buddy for many years, Mwai Kibaki to move to KANU and the Uhuru Kenyatta camp. He was VERY SURE that KANU was going to remain in power. Those who have read my book Dark Secrets Of The Kenyan Presidency will quickly understand Karume (a member of Jomo Kenyatta’s inner circle) and why he would have had this mindset. Karume was of course familiar with the Magana prophecy which predicted that an offspring of Jomo Kenyatta would one day be president of Kenya. And that was long before even Jomo himself became president.

Well, people were buying drinks left right and centre and mostly for total strangers and the party of the century was in full swing.

I remember we were watching one very excited Kenyan dipping himself into the murky waters of the pond in Uhuru Park when this friend of mine walks in.

I saw him when he was at the door of the crowded pub and I said to myself, this man must be sad. No more think tank duty for him. No more large cash deposits from his benefactor. Still I was eager to hear what he had to say.

“You poor Kenyans do not know what is coming to you. You should be in mourning. Do you know Kibaki?”

That was the wrong thing to say in the wrong place and a scuffle almost erupted with somebody on the table actually trying to swing a punch. Somehow we managed to cool down tempers reminding everybody that this was what the democracy we wanted and were about to get for the first time was all about. People were going to be free to speak their mind without fear.

Being Kumekucha (even in those days 3 years before the launch of the Kumekucha blog) I was still curious. Like everybody on the table I wanted to strangle this man and dump his body in Kabarak (joking) where his friend, Moi was about to be flown to, to look after goats for the rest of his life. And so we had a quiet conversation away from all the celebration.

I had known this man for years. Nobody else on that table knew but he was a key member of one of Moi’s informal political think tanks (the president had several of them as I was made to understand). And much as I hated what he had to say, nothing he said that day failed to come to pass in the following years. Admittedly as I stored it all away in my brain I was telling myself that this man was very wrong and out of his mind. At one point I even felt pity for him believing that he had been overtaken by the times.

He assured me that State House had been aware for months that Kibaki was going to win the elections. It was one of the scenarios they had started looking at 4 years earlier.

“Chris, no election result in the history of Kenya has ever surprised State house,” he said several times during that conversation.

So the big question is what do the powers that be already know about the forthcoming elections? What have the fixers fixed well in advance? The answers to those questions will be disturbing to some and terrifying to most who love their country. As usual my raw notes do not pull any punches nor tread carefully around what needs to be said without favouring any side of the political divide. (Download the raw notes now and read for yourself).

Fear 2017 Kenya General Elections Because Hillary Clinton Cried

International community are also very scared for Kenya elections 2017....Read this

In all his over fifty years in politics, former President Moi never got to experience the heat of competitive politics. very fascinating isn't it?

He always clinched elective posts by being selected well in advance or by going back unopposed. On the very few occasions where he had a challenger, he always had such a big edge over his competitor that it was virtually a no-contest.

Even with the re-introduction of multi-party politics in 1991, he was already an all powerful president and despite the strong emerging opposition then, the presidential race was hardly a serious contest. In any case Moi, his think tank and the secret police had "played all their chess" long before the election date so much so that the chances of any surprises on election day were absolutely nil.

A vast majority of Kenyans also do not understand what competitive politics is all about anywhere in the world. Competitive politics is what left Hilary Clinton in a mess and in tears unable to even speak after the stunning victory of Donald Trump.

In Kenya competitive politics is even messier. People punch their opponents, get them killed attack their wives, slap the returning officers and so on. And I am talking about parliamentary contests and those other "small" offices.

Indeed in 2007 when Kenya virtually slipped into the abyss it was mainly because competitive politics had come to the presidency and unlike in 2002 the two leading presidential candidates were from different tribes. Namely Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga. And as fate would have it those were the worst two tribes by a factor of 1000 or more to have to face off in a competitive presidential election in this our banana republic.  Just look at the history of Luo versus Kikuyu politics in Kenya.

If you have ever had the opportunity of observing a closely contested political campaign at close quarters you will agree with me that elections are a moment of madness. Total madness. It is always a us-against-them-and-losing-is-not-an-option thing.

So how do we ever expect to have a fair presidential race in Kenya when the situation is such that the incumbent will always be the boss of the referees (or umpire)? The incumbent will always be the one to make crucial decisions that directly impact on the coming elections. Oh yes we have an IEBC which we insist on calling Independent. But let's cut the cr*p and tell it as it is. The IEBC officials still stand when the president walks in. And they still call him or her your excellency. I can hardly picture a situation where anybody can have the courage of saying; "You are disqualified your excellency because using the intelligence community to fix an election will not fly as per the election rules."

In moments like this I remember one professor Yash Pal Ghai and his trashed draft constition which was a parliamentary system with a prime minister and a unifying weak presidency. In that kind of structure the heat and competitiveness to win a winner-takes-it-all presidency would be non-existence and the elections would be pretty close to completely free and fair in black Africa.

Sadly the Ghai constitution is all water under the bridge now and what we have ahead of us is a presidential election that will be as competitive as that of 2007 and 2013. It is no secret that both those elections did not produce a clear winner or results that were accepted by all Kenyans.

God help our country as we hurtle to the madness ahead of us this 2017.

The many advantages of buying insurance
from an agent

There are many reasons why it is a smart move buying insurance cover from an agent rather than going directly to one insurance company.

Not only do you get the chance to work directly with an assigned insurance agent who is local to your area and location but you will also be in a better position to get the best possible cover at the best price.

But even more important is the fact that an agent really works in your favour when crisis hits. Whether it is a car crash, a flood or whatever mishap leads to you needing your insurance coverage, having an agent to work directly with is a great way to move through the red tape and get your claim processed quickly. A good agent will fight for you and get you the money you need from your insurance company. Some insurance agents like All In One Insuranceare Agency, Voi, are licensed to sell multiple products. They can be your one stop shop for ALL your insurance needs. Just as many large companies offer bundling services, agents also may be able to help you out with a deal if you buy multiple insurance products from them.
