"On my part, I make this specific commitment to you; I will appoint a CLEAN HANDS Cabinet, made up of men and women of integrity from among the decent men and women that you will elect" Mwai Kibaki 12 December 2007.
Please remember:
- No big-fish has been charged and convicted in court for corruption charges five years into Kibaki's reign.
- The Kroll Report, Goldenberg Commission of Enquiry, Ndungu Land Report, etc are all collecting dust somewhere in Sheria House awaiting 'action' from the executive.
- That cabinet appointments might not necessarily be 'corrupt' but how blotted will it be - 80 members plus?
- There's is nothing worse than seemingly presiding over a mini-genocide (Kuresoi, Mount Elgon) and still lay claim to be the Commander in Chief with an Internal Security Cabinet Minister as well as a police force and a military force. This is the worst form of corruption.
LoL...Duh that is only what i can say. When i read today's nation Page 14 and the inauguration speech of 30 Dec 2002. I wonder what does this man take me for? A FOOL ... No not again For 4 good years he has presided over this govt so i am wondering ni miujiza gani atafanya na amekuwa hapa hapa hapa kenya. Kenyans had given him the goodwill and i remember people arresting policemen who wanted to be bribed, then he himself shoved it down the drain. No MR. PRESIDENT once a fool not always. THE BUCK STOPPED WITH YOU, YOU HAD EVERYTHING UNDER YOUR SLEEVE. BUT U decided to continue with the status quo AND squandered every goodwill that i gave you. On 27th December with my vote i will uproot the mugumo tree from its roots and all that it stands for. U will be a reminder to many other politicians THAT U CAN NEVER FOOL EVERYBODY ALL THE TIME!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteWow Yvonne please spare Emilio some heat. Give Prezzo some breathing space he need it given even if just on account of age. You are right our bar is too low and we have Moi as an incorrect marking scheme. But HE baba Jimmy has tried in very trying circumstances maybe he will take us to Cannan if we re-elect him. You know he has promised 'break from the past' with a clean cabinet. That may be an ownership that his first cabinet was Lucy/KM/CM/FM's. Just maybe, ama?
ReplyDeleteCan someone hook me up with this lady's phone number? Taabu please, I want to talk to Yvonne.
ReplyDeleteVikii you are at it again, i thought you were quite satisfied with PKW and Sue's e-mails?let the good work of collecting e-mails go on, i bow down to you
ReplyDeleteOpium#2 and #3 (for reference please see my post on The 3 opiums of Kenyan voters)
Kibaki has smoked a potent combination of opiums 2 and 3 and he is high as a kite-he and what army will fight corruption?
you talk the talk Mr. President but you've failed to walk the talk-join vikii in collecting e-mail addresses
Kbaki doesnt have the intention to fight corruption any more than moi does , otherwise five years was enough to show some goodwill in that platform
ReplyDeleteAfter listening to Kibaki's speech some people believed that the Kibaki signaled a new begining particularly on corruption. I listened to Kibaki speech and at the end of it i was less conviced that the man will tackled corruption. For one, his speech particulaly the bit on corruption, was characterised by well selected and carefully thought through words. Something along the lines of.... any minister who is implicated of corruption with reasonable evidence will be asked to step aside to pave way for investigations.
ReplyDeleteI am nervous about the use of the word 'reasonable' in his statement. the word 'reasonable' in my opinion, leaves everything to interpretation which leads to ambiguety and vegueness. I am also concerned that the president decided to use the word investigation as oposed to procecution. From past experience we all know how long investigaons in Kenya take. Half our leaders in Kenya have corruption cases pending in court. That has never changed anything. At a time when i needed to be conviced of his commitment to fight corruption given another chance, Kibaki decided to use lookwarm sentiments. I am now more than ever conviced that no mater how many more years we give Kibaki he will never fight corruption.
Kibaki; thanks for making it easy for me to make up my mind.
