Magarini shocker?

archive

I don’t want to believe the initial reports I am getting from Magarini. There’s been rainfall heavier than has been seen for years in the area and one person even drowned in flash sloods this morning as a handful of voters trooped to the polling stations.

So I assumed that such a low voter turn out will favor the government and the incumbent. But my sources claim that the opposition have it, although they don’t say who.

I think it is going to be a very close one folks.

  1. The ECK have suggested that some pollling stations will have an extended time fo voting. Normally the government supported candidate gets an advantage when there is a low turnout! It is said in one polling station Kombe is leading with 67 votes out of 111.

  2. Opposition cannot have it. They dont implement rural electrification nor issue title deeds. As vote counting continues, looking at the total opposition vote and the Shirikisho/NARC-K vote, it is clear the majority of Magarini voters will have an MP they did not vote for. Is that democracy? I already told you, just like Kisauni, Nakuru Town and Moyale, the state sponsored candidate (one Harrison Kombe) will emerge the winner.

The ECK does not have the capacity to tame government ministers nor does it have the will to use its powers to prosecute those engaging in electioneering malpractices.

The only way forward for the opposition is to consolidate and push for minimum and essential constitutional reforms before the general elections - otherwise Kibaki is home and dry.

  3. Well said but the opposition only have themselves to blame. All they do is talk, talk and talk some more while pursuing thinly-veiled tribal agendas. Instead of coming out ful force to challenge the governement on policity with concrete proposals, they end up fighting non-existent tuff wars that will only succeed in derailing their cheap egos.

No ncumbent is foolish enough not to exploit the resources at her foot to her advantage. To claim otherwise would be the height of naivity. As ODM boxes shadows, Kombe will be smilling all the way to bunge.
