Jeff Koinange Was Already In Trouble Long Before This Blog Or Marianne Brinner Came Along, New Information Now Reveals

archive

Latest research by this blogger clearly shows that sacked CNN African correspondent Jeff Koinange, had numerous problems with work colleagues, bosses and news sources long before the alleged date rape incident, exclusively reported in this blog.

Sources say that he was not a team player and in fact resisted working with others. He once referred to a well known female colleague as "stupid school girl" (see distant lover's blog).

Then the huge incident that was really the beginning of the end for Kenya's most famous International journalist was the Niger Delta incident where furious Nigerian authorities accused him of paying alleged militias to pose for the CNN cameras. Although CNN officially denied the accusation, it is instructive that they quickly followed up the controversial incident with placating news items on Nigeria that were all positive. Many people even complained online at various forums that "CNN was missing" in the recent Nigerian elections. They were of course referring to the bitingly critical reports about Nigeria that they had become accustomed to. Interestingly Nigerian interests are a major source of advertising revenue from the African continent for CNN International.

This blogger has also found out that CNN monitor all staff emails that are sent and received through the official company email channel. Jeff Koinange sent most of his controversial emails to Marianne Brinner using this channel and it appears he was unaware of the snooping CNN executives. According to a female friend of Anderson Cooper’s within the CNN organization she has had a problem with her budding romance with Cooper over their emails being monitored and the relationship being discouraged by senior executives at the organization as a result.

Jeff Koinange has also been accused of accepting money to report favorably on the Nigerian government, long before the controversial Niger Delta incident. No doubt CNN executives were able to investigate all these allegations extensively given that unknown to Jeff they were monitoring his emails. Both Jeff and CNN strongly denied these accusations. CNN also moved the Africa base from Nigeria to South Africa and it is possible that this decision was made in the wake of the accusations.

Let me say that I have no satisfaction whatsoever in Jeff’s sacking from CNN and I cannot speculate as to the reasons why. I however take pride in the fact that no single story I have covered here has been proved inaccurate so far. It is a reputation that I will go to great lengths to protect.

Read further proof on the real reason Jeff was fired and why it had nothing to do with this blog (see entry for 31st May 2007).

  1. I'm confused, I thought you were talking about Koinange not Cooper? Are you saying both of them were corresponding to potential love interests thru company email?

  2. Poor JK, my heart goes out for him. And these are not plastic tears nor do they flow from the eyes of a reptile. JK may have been a victim of his own success - fame going to his head or just doing all possible including illegalities to succeed.

Lest I earn the sadist tag in being obtusely insensitive, I can't afford even a fake smile at the sight of another person's tribulations. But if it is true as reported out here that the guy paid for his 'news' then on one hand he was doing what merely exporting the Kenyan KK bad manners and doing what most journalists in his position do and would do.

Fame is expensive and there is no free lunch and JK must have seen it coming. He doesn't need the shameless 'youth-winging' who appear to be wailing louder than the bereaved. Honestly the guy belongs elsewhere classwise and he doesn’t need us. He can do all he wants with himself and his life needs none of our misplaced sense of patriotism and all the cheap sms.

The lesson from JK's story is that out there perception is everything and NMG will not touch the story with 10m poodle lest they open their own can of worms. No man can stop the hand of time and that is not being apologetic-JK must learn to zip up down there or go for samples worth his name. Equally he must be ready to pay for his sins. He had the option of defending himself and we all know what silence implies. We must stop riding on his back which he will never allow us near. May the truth prevail and reign.

  3. In answer to the first comment by annonymous;

Are you saying both of them were corresponding to potential love interests thru company email?

THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION IS "YES."

  4. After all this time in a supposed campaign for justice writing to CNN executives and JK's collegues. She is now standing back and saying that she had nothing to do with his sacking

Why the hell was she writing to everyoneshe could possibly write to and having that "distant lovers" blog if she didnt want him to be fired? Her number one aim was to tarnish his reputation.

Well know that he has been fired the letters and that blog are of no use to her.Tell her to go and report the rape to the police....preferably with evidence.

  5. It sounds suspicious; how do these two women know each other?

  6. JK is simply frying in his own fat. The mud flapping is simply due to the public nature of his career. It’s not as if the man wrapped a Kenyan flag around his waist to cover his seditious loins or wore Kenyan flag lapel on his breast. This jamaa was not a Kenyan hero; he was just doing a job. There are many mentor-ish highflying Kenyans in Corporate America who are the real heroes of the fight against adversity.

  7. Anderson is openly gay except to the press. He dated my brother and doesn't deserve insane fans making up lies about his love life. Stop being homophobic and left the man live his life!

  8. The below can't possibly be true about Anderson Cooper unless the sentence was to imply that the two employees were communicating with respective outsiders.

Its well known that he does not have a preference for women:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anderson_Cooper

Independent news media have reported that he is gay [2],[3],[4],[5], [6], and in May 2007, Out Magazine ranked him second among "The Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America."[7] He does discuss some aspects of his personal life including his desire to have a family and children.

  9. Its difficult to believe that two intelligent well-informed individuals such as Cooper and JK would NOT know that CNN was monitoring their emails. I've worked for several large corporations and its common practice for companies to monitor email not for the purpose of snooping per se but for proprietary reasons, spread of email viruses, improper internet conduct, i.e., online pornography, etc. I would think them very naive to use company email for romantic purposes if this is indeed true.

BTW, the companies are very open about monitoring email and your internet activity - they log each and every place you visit, how long you are there, etc. Its been used in justification of firings for overuse of internet for nonbusiness purposes. Just a fact of corporate life.

  10. First of all let me say that Marianne should pursue the proper course of justice

But why are you(Chris) and Brinner denying playing a role in Jeff's sacking at this stage? So all that time you isuuing countless statements that he is a rapist,u know want us to believe that it has not played a role in destroying his carrer.Where CNN execs supposed to say we will sack you but screw those letters we have been receiving from a woman who claims u violently raped her and infected her with herpes? And screw the attention being given to a kenyan blog conveying the same information to the world?

    cmon

  11. The below appears on http://distantlovers.blog.com/

"After I had written the letter to the CNN-President and after the Date-Rape Article appeared in the Kumekucha-Blog, Jeff wrote to me on March 8:

... I have been 'reprimanded' by CNN......"

Oh, honey, you've been HAD. This is from one of the delusional chicks who insist that Cooper is straight and try to plant 'he dates women' rumors around the internet to back them up in their fantasies.

  13. How did Chris come to be in such close contact with Marianne Brinner?

She seems to draw her victims to have absolute trust in her and hang on her every word as gospel truth only to use and betray them in the end.

Chris I think you have been used as one of her dogs of war.But not to worry the war is over.Oh but your final task of promoting her book

  15. Jeff was an a**h#le at saints, bashing people around with impunity. He's still the same big bully and I aint suprised.

  16. I have no idea whether or not the allegations against Jeff are true. However, I do think that until they are proven true, the adage of innocent until proven guilty should apply. Of particular note, journalists are often slandered by the Nigerian government and its opponents in the wake of critical reportage that examines the web of corruption, violence that is well entrenched in the country. This is an environment that is difficult for any journalist, and one can only hope that Jeff had the good sense to keep his hands clean.

  17. Poor JK!! i Admired that guy. he was brilliant and very organised. as a journalist my self i know what he is going through. But again if those allegations of seeking bribes are true, too bad because some of us looked at him as an idol. i would be very disapointed if he was found guilty of corruption of that nature.

Also how did you know my name because i found it on ur page and yet i did not sign it

  18. I did reduce my dose of CNN a long time ago; I used to be an addict. This scandal only further confirms the sense in this step. Obviously JK is a recruitment error bigtime. He staged a report on the Niger Delta some time ago and used the access that the CNN platform affords him unprofessionally. He betrayed his pettiness and small-mindedness when he tried to use his job and background to cajole/intimidate a woman. This woman is a fool though, what is the problem if your man wants his nookie clean-shaven? And blackmailing a black guy over oral/phone sex is totally beside the point. Rape? Well that is another story, innit?
