Is ODM Secretly Preparing For Fresh General Elections?

As the comedy of errors over naming a simple cabinet, being played out at Harambee house in Nairobi drags on, seemingly endlessly, one thing is becoming increasingly clear by the day. And that is the fact that the sooner the country can go back to the polls the better.

In fact there are those who believe (including this writer) that only free and fair polls as soon as is practicable can save our beloved motherland from more blood letting. As usual the political class has completely failed to see the increasing clamor by ordinary Kenyans for fresh new leadership under a new constitution. Needless to say, it is abundantly clear that if the will of the people is continuously ignored and frustrated, we are headed for an ugly class war in Kenya.

But it appears that not everybody is oblivious of the inevitable. Recent actions by ODM leader Raila Odinga and indeed the unfolding of events behind the scenes at the party seem to suggest that ODM could already be preparing for fresh general elections. Probably the most significant change around Raila Odinga that seems to suggest this is the rise and rise of one Dalmas Otieno. It is instructive that in the names handed over to the President by ODM Dalmas Otieno has been earmarked for one of the most significant portfolios on the ODM side, namely the Ministry of Roads.

More telling is the insistence of analysts that the sudden sharp rise of Asian businessmen lining up to see the Prime Minister designate can directly be traced back to this Dalmas Otieno character. This writer is currently preparing a detailed dossier on the man that Kenyans need to know a little better. My report will appear here soon.

Incidentally the rise of Hon Mr Otieno has coincided with the rapid decline of Prof Anyang Nyong’o as a major force and figure on Raila’s side in ODM.

Clearly all signs point to ODM being keen on cutting the kind of deals that...

  1. Chris, as much as I would love to have elections held in the soonest time possible, I doubt whether PNU would ever agree to that. They would use everything possible to prevent that from happening. On a lighter note, did anyone see today's cartoon in Nation. It was absolutely hilarious and very. very true. Here is the link: http://www.nationmedia.com/dailynation/images/news/cartoons/cart070408.jpg

  2. The writer should get facts right and look at why Prof Anyang Nyong has not been around and again you want to post the usual propaganda on here!! HE HAS BEEN TRAVELING IF YOU REALLY CHECKED YOUR FACTS!!you think ODM are stupid enough to go to the ballot box with the same constitution and ECK in place?? do you really take ODMERS TO BE SUCH FOOLS??? IF THIS IS CHRIS OF KUMEKUCHA THEN I SINCERELY EXPECTED BETTER ANALYSIS FROM YOU!! DO YOUR HOME WORK ON GROUND FIRST BEFORE RUSHING TO POST WHAT YOUR PNU SOURCES ARE SINGING INTO YOUR EARS- I SEEM TO RECALL MOST OF THE TIME HERE YOU MENTION YOUR PNU SOURCES !!WHEN OF THOSE TIMES YOU WERE 100% WRONG WAS THE TORTURE AND KILLINGS OF INNOCENT KENYANS IN MT. ELGON REGION = YOU BECOME THE SAITOTI'S AND THE ARMY GENERALS SPOKES MAN ON KUMEKUCHA AND THOSE OF US WHO HAVE RELATIVES IN MT. ELGON WERE VERY VERY SHOCKED AND OFFENDED- TILL TODAY I'M NOT SURE IF YOUR BLOG IS FOR FINDING OUT THE TRUTH O WHAT REALLY IS HAPPENING IN KENYA OR A PNU MOUTH PIECE!! CAN YOU ADDRESS THAT ISSUE?

AND IF YOU WANT TO PUT THE HISTORY OF DALMAS OTIENO HERE THEN HOW ABOUT YOU ADD MICHUKI'S KABONDO WA KABONDO AND WHY HE WAS DENIED A VISA AND HOW ABOUT THE MUNGIKI OATHING THAT TOOK PLACE AT NJENGA KARUME'S CHIANDA HOUSE- IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE DETAILS- ASK ME AND I WILL POST THE WHOLE SAGA HERE!!
DO NOT TRY TARNISHING PEOPLES NAMES ON YOUR BLOG! THIS IS NOT WHY YOUR READERS ARE HERE?? WE ARE HERE TO GIVE OUR OWN VIEWS ON KENYA AND WHAT IS UNFOLDING- NOT READ INFORMATION FROM NEWS PAPERS OR HEAR STORIES FROM PEOPLE THEM TAKE THEM TO BE FACTS AND PUBLISH THEM!! THAT IS WRONG !!

  3. Anyang Nyong and Dalmas Otieno?? are you trying to post here information picked from gutter press(PNU daily nation paper)? are you going to post facts that have been proven?? or a story that has gone round and round for years about Dalmas OTIENO?? if indeed you have interviewed him personally recently or you know him personally(proof it) then my advice is do not post here the same propaganda tarnishing someone's name like they did Ruto - I think we are all above that now and we should be posting here information that we have researched personally- any information from PNU or ODM or when MOI was in power the infrmation regarding the opposition then that was posted out is second hand and not facts??
I like what i read on the jukwaa blog history and connection of Moi and Kibaki before and after Kenyatta's era- and the connection linking both to Former CID boss the late Kanyontu! at least that you can connect the dots!! so I hope what ever you want to post on Dalmas are facts and not hearsay -
we will wait and see- since some of us know him personally and through his political career...........

  4. ha!!ha! this is hilarious? Asian business men?? is that what your people on ground havetold you?? ok give us the names of the Asian business men? since it seems it is no secret that this meetings have been taking place?? i have worked with Asian businessmen on deals before and they are not that stupid to go meeting Raila before knowing the outcome of which directions the country is going to take:):) so your informer fooled you on this one and believe me I know all the Asian businessmen who own the largest businesses in Kenyan- lets just say east Africa- they are not fools-they will wait!until the cabinet is sworn in and i can tell you out right personal appointments with Raila did not happen- if you have proof then let us see it since i consult with this Asian business people in Kenya regularly, post it here, like who, when, where??

on the other point about ODM preparing for elections?? I can't comment on that- but all i can say knowing they have people like Orengo on board handling things on the new constitution side- i highly doubt whether James Orengo would advice his troop that an election without a new constitution in place is the best course to take- again i think you are being mis-informed by your people on the ground! sorry to dash your hopes!! or this is just a post to create trouble?? which is which Chris??

  5. asking pnu to go to the polls is like asking them to give up the min of finance or min of lucyfer, now kenyans need to understand that it takes money and i mean lots of it to win an election let alone steal it , kibaki is deep in debt to his financiers (remember the 1 million sh lunch, actually it could have been i mil dollars luch) these debts have to be paid one way or another.same goes for raila that is why you see he has lost his pride and has jumped right in to the mud of politics. It is also evident that kibaki is not in charge , after the eck scandal iam sure his close allies can easily blackmail him for they have very damaging information that can finish him.Instead of killing innocent civilians kibaki should now embark on wacking some of the
of the big shots who know too much , or some of the orange headache , there are plenty of odm mps who will settle for minister of sanitation for as long as a s 500 is part of the package.

  7. ARE KENYANS WILLING TO HAVE PNU HOLD THEM RANSOM DUE TO THEIR INTERNAL PROBLEMS? THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE ABOVE COMMENTS & PREVIOUS COMMENTS ON PREVIOUS POSTS ARE INSINUATING.
THE MENTION OF AN ELECTION BRINGS OUT THESE IDIOTIC REASONS LIKE, PNU IS IN DEBT, PNU WOULD NEVER AGREE IT WOULD BE SUICIDAL, PNU KNOW THEY STAND NO CHOICE..PNU NYEF NYEF, THEY DIDN'T STAND A CHANCE IN 2007 BUT THAT DID NOT STOP THEM FROM STEALING THE ELECTION WITH WHAT 5 VOTES??
WHO CARES IF PNU IS NOT READY FOR AN ELECTON, THEY ARE IN OFFICE ILLEGALLY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
THEY STOLE THE ELECTION & NOW THAT THEY ARE DEEP IN DEBT, HAVE INTERNAL SUCCESSIVE WARS..THEY WANT TO HOLD US RANSOM?
I BELIEVE KENYANS DESIRE NEW, BRAND NEW ELECTIONS...
QUESTION SHOULD BE...WHERE DO WE START!!

MY OPINION, AN INTERIM GOVERNMENT OF TECHNOCRATS HEADED BY THE SPEAKER. THEIR SOLE MANDATE WOULD BE RE-SETTLEMENT OF THE IDPS' & MINIMUM REFORMS AFTERWHICH FRESH ELECTIONS SHOULD BE CALLED.
THE ELECTIONS SHOULD BE OVERSEEN BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMM. THESE SAME FRIENDS WHO FORCED THAT PEACE ACCORD CAN HELP IMPLEMENT THAT INTERIM GOV.
P.S IT IS THE RISING CALL FOR FRESH ELECTIONS AMONGST KENYANS THAT WILL LEAD US UP THAT ROAD.

AND PLEASE NO TALK ABOUT PNU WILL NOT HEAR OF THAT, WAJIPANGE!!!...THEY STOLE THE ELECTION. THIS IS NOT CHILDSPLAY, WE NEED FRESH ELECTIONS!!
