President Uhuru Kenyatta’s step sister is best remembered as the first and only woman Mayor of Nairobi (1970-1976). She was also amongst the pioneer students at Alliance when in 1947 it began as a mixed school.
Shortly before her famous dad passed on she was appointed Kenya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, where she served for ten years from 1976 to 1986.
On her return to Kenya in 1986 she completely vanished from public and led a quiet secluded life at her Lavington home.
