Is Paul Muite’s Life Really In Danger?

I sat there frightened, lonely and confused in a foreign country away from home and felt completely and utterly defeated.

All these emotions had been caused by two simple questions I had been asked in response to my claim that my life was in danger back home in Kenya. The questions were; How do you know? And who wants to kill you? Although I had enough evidence (including emails) to prove what I was saying, I realized then how difficult it is for anybody to prove that their life is in danger. My situation was complicated by the fact that I always instinctively protect my sources of information and sometimes even go out of my way to disguise the direction in which my info came from. So as I listend to myself talk I knew how unconvincing I must have sounded.

Paul Muite: Running scared

Yesterday a frightened-looking Paul Muite held a press conference to tell the world that his life was in danger. But he went beyond that and named his world-be assassins. And in an even more drastic move he has written to the UN’s International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, asking them to investigate and prosecute President Kibaki over extra-judicial killings.

The question on the minds of most Kenyans is whether Muite is simply playing politics or his life is indeed in great danger? Actually to cut a long story short, Muite has cleverly moved very fast to save his life as his fears are fully justified according to my sources.

In fact if you carefully examine Muite’s actions you will quickly realize that they are the actions of a man who seriously fears for his life? What would you do if you got information to the effect that some people take your life? You would blow the whistle (this often scares off the would-be assassins) and then you would try and get on the offensive against the people. Now Muite’s move of going after the president is both interesting and instructive.

Sample the following. The Kwekwe squad is a professional hit squad and there is a very visible pattern in the way they operate in the executions they have so far been suspected of carrying out. The truth is that assassinating people is NOT as simple as it looks in the movies. You need lots of intelligence information on their movements, habits and so on to carry out a successful hit. No hit-man can afford to botch a hit. The interesting thing here is that the Kwekwe squad gets all its’ intelligence from the NSIS (National Security Intelligence Services). Now we all know that the NSIS reports to only one person, namely the highest authority in the land. Jijazie (fill in the dots).

There is yet another reason why Muite is NOT joking about his life being in danger. Some weeks ago I was informed about an alleged Kwekwe squad hit list (the list is in my raw notes) that consisted of a few prominent names mainly in civil society. Muite’s name was NOT on the list, however when you look at most of the names on my earlier list and then add Muite’s there is something in common that immediately emerges. Amazingly most of the people on the list are a threat to national security in the sense that their activities are bound to split the Kikuyu vote and thus frustrate plans of the executive and those close to him to secure their future by influencing succession politics and the next occupant of State House.

  1. CHRIS,

WHY ARE YOU IGNORING MAU FOREST THAT ODM POLITICIANS HAVE INVADED.

The more KUMEKUCHA tries to avoid this issue and instead choose to cop paste stories from Daily Nation shows how DECEITFUL and CORRUPT chris has become. You are always claiming to be a voice of the people but MAU FOREST issue seems too hot for KK.

Or is chris fearing to cut the hand that feeds him?

    ReplyDelete
  2. And Raila has also given this issue a wide berth especially after the group he hand picked reported that ODM politicians are the sole beneficiary of the mau forest.

raila can only complain of 'executive' toilets and torn carpets..

  3. Another bombshell from kumekucha.

I don't always agree with you but my my don't you always make me see politics in Kenya so clearly.

So Chris, what's this story about the Mau forest? Why dost thou ignoreth it?

  4. Kumekucha,

Muite's allegations are very serious. I don't think there is a precedent...

  5. Chris,

Please post the issue of MAU FOREST.

Kumekucha's credibility is slowly but surely eroding away. We need to save the forest and the PM needs to be coerced into action now that he has avoided that issue the moment it was discovered that CURRENT ODM POLITICIANS from Rift Valley are beneficiaries.

  6. Chris:

You are right in the sense that Muite's story has a political angle to it because the only threat facing Muite right now is political extinction. In a fast changing Gema political universe Muite finds his star being rendered irrelevant daily. Hence the need to find relevance by alarmingly claiming that he is in danger of being assassinated by the state.

The question of the moment is why would the state want to kill a political reject? Muite did not tell us why. Neither does any objectively analysis of Muite classify him as a potential candidate of state assassination.

The history of state assassinations in this country yields three types of victims. The first type is the politician who amasses so much political power through force of personality/political and brain fire power that he becomes a direct threat to the powers of the day - this is the Tom Mboya type. The second type is the politician who, although rich, identifies so intimately with the struggles of the masses that he becomes a threat simply because the masses deify him and the political and business elite connive to kill him for what he is capable of doing but has not done - this is the JM Kariuki type.

The third type is the Robert Ouko type. This type cultivates over time an image of a clean/urbane, honest and believable politician. Their strength/power is moral rather derived from the masses or money or political strategy. They generally take on one issue (often corruption)and pursue it with that moral authority. Although the killers may make it look like the assassination was political, often they kill to cover up their dirty corrupt tracks.

In which of the three types does Muite fit? None! Has he had the brilliantly threatening political career of people like Mboya? No! Is he a darling of the masses of Kenya like JM Kariuki? No! Does he have the moral authority and taken on corruption like Bob Ouko? No! Then, Chris, tell us why the state would waste a bullet and soil itself with the blood of a has-been like Muite.

Yes, Muite has tried to connect with the Mungiki political wing but has failled completely to attract the faintest attention from the rank and file. Yes, Muite has lately talked about the state raid on Standard Newspapers, but he is too late to the game because when it mattered he was quitely scheming to be made a Justice Minister but failed. Yes he is now talking about extra-judicial killings but where was he when the killings were going on or did he just became aware of them after losing his parliamentary seat?

Muite is simply trying to be relevant by milking the extra-judicial killings issue. He may be lucky and remain in the limelight for a while, but my political insticts tell me that the people of Gemaland recognize a Hollywood actor when the see one.

  7. I have a nagging question about Muite which i think Chris you should have raised in this copy paste story from the dailies. Why is he still drawing a monthly salary as one of the state counsel or president Kibaki's legal advisor?

Or is he just raising political storms in tea cups since his political star is quickly dying like anon said? He looks like a bitter man, trying to get some attention hopefully to rekindle his dying fame.

Why chris is he not resigning or better put how do you continue working for someone who has ordered a hitman on you??

  8. Anon 1:21, my instincts tell me you are trying too hard to make Paul Muite seem irrelevant. Why?

  9. Back to Karua for a bit: This is equally plausible. Could Muite be up to similar tricks? Somehow I very much doubt it. But Karua has blood on her hands and I would not put it past her....

    Source: http://birongo.wordpress.com/

There are expectations that she will turn into a heroine overnight. Her aim is to be the next Commander-in-Chief in Kenya. Her plan has been tried before by other demagogues. The basic steps are as follows:

    1. Pretend to be critical of the government and president

    2. Resign

    3. Seek the presidency promising REAL change

    4. Stupid Kenyans will vote you in believing you will be the ONE to bring change. Real CHANGE.

Many people will not realize that Martha Karua is Mwai Kibaki’s project. Corrupt outgoing presidents do everything to ensure that their future is secure by making sure that a trusted lieutenant takes over after them. This is what Karua is to Kibaki.

    The game plan is simple:

    1. Choose your most trusted lieutenant and reveal your plan to him/her

    2. Have the lieutenant hit at you constantly in public to create the impression that differences exist between the two of you. Hit back at your ‘enemy’ and dismiss his/her candidature.

    3. Fund your ‘critic’s’ presidential campaign secretly. In the open, campaign vigorously against your ‘critic’ knowing fully well that the masses will NOT vote for ‘your’ publicly prefered candidate.

    4. The masses vote for your ‘critic’ and you both laugh all the way to the bank.

How many Kenyans can see the psychological game being played here? How many will remember 4 years from now that Karua was one of the prime movers of the election FRAUD that led to bloodshed and displacement in Kenya?

  10. Anon 1:47,

    What about this stratergy,

    1. identify tribal chiefs and tell them to declare interest for presidency under the same party which is led by your goons
    2. fund their campaigns
    3. organise a fixed elections which you fund where all the other contestants loose and declare you the supremo.
    4. organise a massive campaign pitting your tribal conglomeration against the adui kabila's.
    5. secretly plan for a violent backup incase you lose elections.
    6. after losing elections fund a genocide and ensure the country is ungovernable until you get some powers.
    7. get some powers, a PM post but still continue whining about lack of toilets and torn carpets in your kamukunji...

thats raila mollasses brother in christ...

  11. anon 2:20,

    you forgot this one,

    8. organise your loyal mps to give a press conference supporting your demands for an 'executive' toilet
    9. threaten to organise massive demontrations if the toilet demand is not met in your next baraza...

...in the mean time, your ministers steal maize and involve your son. this leads to artificial shortage and basic ugali meal becomes a luxury. your constituents die, inflation hits 30, life detereorates. then you ignore Mau forest water catchment area when you are made to understand your loyal supporters are the beneficially....

kenya we are a fucked up nation!!!!

  13. "Is Paul Muite's life really in danger?"

I think not. This is a man desperately trying to maintain relevance in a fast changing political environment. So just another opportunistic strategy that should be evaluated as such. The tragedy is that he brings absolutely nothing but empty air to the table.
    Ignore him.

  14. Muite is a non entity. This is his attempt to keep his waning name and political status in the limelight. The people of Kikuyu will never vote for the bugger again.

Nice try Kumekucha, i always log on to see what the ODM loons are trying to spin. BTW, has your hero agwambo finally managed to relieve himself? Terrible shame about no red carpets and toilets when you are visiting people who probably eat once a day due to poverty and famine. Nice to see Agwambo's priorities, low life simpleton that he is.

  15. Yes, I believe the Kwekwe squad and Shifta Gen Ali are out to silence Paul Kibugi Muite once and for all. They did it to Oscar King'ara, Paul Oulu and over 5,000 jobless youth who were labelled Mungiki. This open fact has been recognized by UN under Prof Alston's extra-judicial killings report.

It's an open secret that the only time old Kibaki wakes up from his deep sleep in statehouse to call a press conference is only when the composition of his family members arises. Even the post election genocide could not make the mzee get out his warm cosy bed.

And who rattles the mzee to summon the media better than Paul Muite? He happens to be Kibaki's worst irritant even worse than ODM and Raila's rants about carpets and toilets!

We should take Muite's threats very seriously. The fact is we have a death squad in this country that has wiped out thousands of poor innocent souls most who are ironically Agikuyu. God forbid the killer squad is unleashed on family members of those who think Muite is that boy who cried "wolf!"

  16. Taabu's Mistress,

I may not like you but today i totally agree with your sentiment. How do you continue to draw a salary from an employer you label as a killer and who you allege has a contract on your neck. That is a valid question which unfortunately may not get any response from chris who may not have thought deeply about the intricacy of this issue. I think Muite is just a sly lawyer desperately trying to get back at Kibaki for reasons i dont want to post here.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Taabu and Phil both have mistresses, who occassionally post here. How come Chris has none?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Let me add quickly....

That yes the killers of Oscar foundation's officials are still walking free and smiling knowing very well they will never go to jail in this banana republic. However, they may have succeeded in silencing voices against extra-judicial killings, but someone else the name of Paul Muite has popped up to champion their cause.

You dim one light but somewhere another pops up magically. Even if Muite is "taken out" Mafia style- God forbid- someone else will still pop up to take his place!

And the more the killings the more the attention of the international community is captured on this shores. And the more Kibaki will be held to account. And the more he may face the dock. And the more he may face isolation like Sudan's Bashir.

But already, the world is keenly watching having been alerted over the deaths of 5,000 young men allover the country. So far, the Prezzo has said nothing as expected, hoping things will just disappear. Baba Jimi...the game is over. Please come out from your bed with hands raised in the air...

  19. Doesnt it strike you as strange, if not outright dishonest, that many disparate cases are lumped together as "extra-judicial killings" either because police/army may have been involved to even where there is NO evidence at all of their involvement?
There is a lot more behind the accusation of extra-judicial killings than some people are wont to admit.

Here's my free advice.Fleshing out the issues might help in the presentation of a coherent, convincing case that can be pursued single-mindedly.
Lumping these hogde-potch of cases under one umbrella, and now Muite's, does very little to advance any of the individual cases, some of which can stand quite firmly on their own.

Maybe, maybe not. BUT WHO CARES
There are millions of kenyans whose lives are in danger everyday from...hunger, poverty, sickness etc If the govt assasinates Muite, he will just be one addition to the many kenyans the govt has killed through lack of poverty eradication programs, medical programs, thro extra judicial killings, supporting hungers quest to kill kenyans etc while they drive fuel guzzlers and refuse to pay taxes. SHIT happens and it can happen to anyone. Where is Osama? can someone hire him to blow up parliament.

  22. Muite is already a dead man. You cant implicate a Kenyan president and get away with it.

    You remember:
1)JM? Accused Kenyatta of corruption. It was true. Kenyatta killed him personally.

2)Bob Ouko? Accused Biwott and Moi of corruption. It was true. Biwott personally killed Ouko in the presence of Moi.

The days of Muite are numbered but Kenyans will not tolerate another impunity again.

Kibaki has killed enough Kenyans. This time he will face fire from Kiambu and the rest of Kenya

  23. I have always thought that Paul Muite had something more than wisdom in his head. That he lost during the elections is not reason for him to make outrageous claims about his life being in danger. Sour grapes is what we call the latest comedy that Paul Muite is playing. This is simply an epic in his long comedy that has now lasted two years and counting…Anglo Leasing or Goldenberg, the story continues or Kisumu Molasses Plant robbery.

He knows that killing him, either accidentally or pre-planned cannot be hard in a country where a policeman is poorly paid and receives orders without questioning. Why trail him then?

Muite should re-direct his annoyance to the people of Kikuyu who found him not good enough to be elected after 15 years of poor service. Paul Muite should know that days when the public swallowed and politicians wallowed in cheap publicity acted on the platform of revolution are long gone.

That he wants to score cheap through linking government ministers through an act of state security should be as bad as an ogre dream in a darkened room. Muite should be at least smart than that.

I have the feeling that this twit is turning into an ODM leader who uses, without taking any empathy with him to use a dead man’s burial or funeral for that matter to forge his political destiny. That he is being incentive to the family of Paul Oulo or whoever is out of context, retrogressive for an African man and stupid for a politician of his stature.

Muite should rethink his priorities in politics. He is now trying to take it out on PNU, just as ODM succeeded in having Samuel Kivuitu sacked and are now digging in for the sacking of Amos Wako, Hussein Ali and others who did not fall for their bait during the elections.

    Sour Grapes!!!

  24. To all,

They cannot write anything about Mau Forest here. Majamaa, that thing touches on the rank and file of ODM. They actually distributed it among themselves when Daniel Moi was in power.

Did Hosea Kiplagat accept that he recieved abit of the land? Yes, then how could William Ruto, Zakayo Cheruyiot, Henry Kosgei and the so-called Moi's blue-eyed boys miss out.

That is why, there is another line of lies that a donor is going to pay for those peasants settled there to be relocated. How and why should a benefactor come up to buy out poor people, or rich people for that matter, who paid for the title deeds and even invested millions for the land development. What happens to the tea bushes and factories???

  25. Paul Muite should take the next flight out of Kenya with all the info he has plus the charges he is stating otherwise he is a dead man walking.

I dont have his number but if anyone can talk to him. tell him to sue outside kenya as enforced dissapearance cases are complex but when affirmed the president could be arrested anywhere

  26. YET AGAIN KENYANS ARE ASLEEP WHILE UHURU KENYATTA SELLS THE KENYATTA GRABBED LAND TO THE GOVERNMENT WHERE UHURU WILL WRITE A CHEQUE TO HIMSELF..

WHEN WILL THE KENYAN FOOLS WAKE UP TO THIS REALITY????

I guess the land has accrued enough value to start profitably disposing it.

The four decade long speculation is ripe.

And coincidentally, the paymaster at Treasury who is to use taxpayer cash to pay for the land is also a Kenyatta family member.

Press reports (according to Makokha's DN column) indicate that the family of Deputy Prime Minister who is also Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta are negotiating with government TO SELL BACK 37,000 ACRES OF LAND THEY GRABBED IN TAVETA so that the government may settle the landlesss.

    SELL BACK TO GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!

Uhuru Kenyatta is supposed to write a cheque for himself from our Treasury (close to a half billion shillings) for that purpose.

    IS THIS NOT;

    1) DAYLIGHT ROBBERY OF TAXPAYERS FROM OUR TREASURY?

    2) PRE-EMPTION OF A SYSTEMATIC, POLICY BASED, LEGISLATION-BACKED LAND REFORM?

    3) A PRETENTIOUS ACT OF POLITICAL POSTURING TO HOODWINK LONG-DEPRIVED TAVETA LOCALS - THROUGH UHURU'S SIDE-KICK & Special Programmes Minister, NAOMI SHABAN?

    4) BLATANT CONFLICT OF INTEREST WHEREBY TREASURY'S GUARDIAN IS DIPPING HIS HAND INTO THE COFFERS DUBIOUSLY?

    5) LOOTING CAMPAIGN FUNDS FOR PNU'S THE NEXT ELECTIONS RIGHT FROM KENYAN TAXPAYERS?

WHAT ABOUT OTHER GRABBED LANDS THE FAMILY STILL HOLDS AT THE COAST, RIFT VALLEY, CENTRAL, NAIROBI, and EASTERN?

Land scarcity is a major problem in Kenya and land grabbers should not be diving into our Treasury to demand taxpayer funds for land they did not purchase in the first place.

Land reform and settlement of millions of squatters is a major issue that should not be pre-empted and short-circuited haphazardly. If done systematically and collectively, then millions of Kenyans can be settled at once, rather than few pockets here and there.

THIS COUNTRY OF OURS IS QUITE AMAZING.

And we are stuck with these thieves for good. Forcing themselves upon THE NATION'S LEADERSHIP.

    THINGS MUST CHANGE.

THE ASSASSINS ARE THE ELITE MT KENYA STILL STEALING AND LOOTING THE GOVERNMENT -LOOK NO FURTHER

Joshua Kutuny is a William Ruto sidekick - nothing more, nothing less.

It is known that these two are among individuals who are keeping UDM in the safety cabinet to be used as a vehicle of forming an alliance with PNU stalwarts Kalonzo, Uhuru and Saitoti come 2012.

These guys have made it their business to wreck ODM from within, and they have been the individuals who are responsible for just about all resistance to any other proposal ODM puts forward to improve this country.

Recently, Kutuny along with Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba and Kamkunji MP Simon Mbugua have all taken possession of new H3 Hummer vehicles courtesy of their constant attacks on ODM. The source of the funds is the recent maize scandals. This is not a secret.

I would advise powers in ODM to ignore this non-entity. His heart is obviously elsewhere.
