Poll confirms that Kibaki and all the old men should go home

A recent poll done in Kenya on the presidency has really come as no surprise to many Kenyans.

The poll indicates that if elections were to be held this year, President Kibaki would come a distant third, trailing Kalonzo Musyoka and Uhuru Kenyatta. Both these two candidates tied at 29% each at the poll.

LDP defacto leader Raila Odinga was a distant fourth with 5% of the votes.

The Gallup poll was undertaken by the Steadman Group.

The most interesting trend that is now clearly emerging is that it is very likely that voters will go into the next polls, scheduled for 2007, very angry. This is the sort of anger that should produce lots of fear in any of the current crop of politicians and not just the president. It is the sort of anger that may help them make the only decision now left to make, to pass the baton to a totally new generation of leaders.

This blog will continue to constantly push forward the idea that the old men (the whole lot) now need to go home and rest. They are the cause for the huge mess the country now finds itself in. The time has come to pass on the baton of leadership to a new generation of Kenyans born after independence. To save our country we must pass the baton now to the so-called dot-com generation who are brimming with new ideas and new energy.

The older generation are clearly demonstrating the fact that they are extremely tired and badly need to go home and rest. And since they will never do it voluntarily, Kenyans should prepare their voting cards to do “the necessary” in 2007.
