Ngilu Has The Option Of Going For A City Parliamentary Seat
Kalonzo Musyoka talked to the press at length recently about the “huge mistake” Charity Ngilu has made in joining ODM instead of sticking with the strongest party in Ukambani, namely his very own Hoo Ndii Emm.
At one point Mr Musyoka said; “I can almost guarantee her that she will lose her parliamentary seat.”
It is indeed true that Kalonzo Musyoka’s ODM Kenya (Hoo Ndii Emm, we call it in this blog because that is the way my cousins back home in Ukambani pronounce it.) is very strong in Ukambani. Mr Musyoka has spent a lot of time campaigning within his stronghold to ensure that he is the tribal supremo. The folks in Ukambani do not want to hear about any other presidential candidate. PNU officials recently plastered the whole of Machakos town with president Kibaki posters. The activity was done secretly in the cover of darkness and town residents woke up in the morning to find a Kibaki blitz. Two short hours later, almost every poster had either been defaced or torn down.
Amazingly there is also a feeling amongst the Akamba people that Mr Musyoka has got a fighting chance of winning the presidency. Many of them are convinced that...

Raila Odinga secretly met John Githongo in London last month
Guess what John Githongo's nickname was when he worked at State House
Surely Raila Odinga Can NOT Be That Popular!
Poor Ngilu! The good lady finds herself sandwiched between political dark blue sea and the rock. So who will give way? I have no idea except I cannot blame her Kitui Central electorate. Come on Chris, those people are just being Kenyan in supporting one of their own at whatever cost.
ReplyDeleteNgilu's predicament is parallel to Orengo's in 2002. The later has biten the bullet for once a politician always one. Furthermore there is no bank for principles in Kenya. Foot soldiers can be left carrying the dead baby while sweating and swearing for a guy who bolted long time ago. The political stables these chaps guard need no security.
Make no mistake. All politicians are scoundrels who can sweat talk gullible voting moles out of their fox holes. Kenyan politics is tribal, pure and simple. Ngilu either goes cosmopiilitan or pray for nomination. Na bado.
Leo If you listened to kissfm you hear raila say it Jua Kali is breeding poverty .And no criminals will be charged with theft so what change is raila talking about .if Anglo leasing people ,Goldenberg people will remain free then how different is that from Kenya today .What makes an odm government even worse is the fact that now raila has declared war on small scale businessmen and women ,First it was the stock exchange investors now it is the jua kali man and woman . what more evidence do people want .Straight from the horses mouth .
ReplyDeleteRaila and Odm are promising heaven and earth but the realities for Kenyans who fall for them will be disastrous .the other day I heard a joke that has been circulating on the web about an odm supporter who died . When he died he arrived at the gates of heaven ,Saint peter looked for his name and couldn't find it . so he said we seem to have a glitch your name isn't here , you should have gone to hell but you ended up here .
so this is what we will do you will spend 24 hours in hell and 24 hours in heaven ,then you can decide where you want to go .The odm supporter objected but saint peter told him we have rules here .we have to do what I told you . so saint peter took the odm supporter to hell. When they arrived the place wasn't like the odm supporter thought it would be .The place looked beautiful, there was free food, free rent songs and dance even raila was there ,drinks to go all around and even a clubhouse.Leaders in hell were funny and the entertained the crowds that were in hell .People danced made merry all night ,Everyone was happy .24 hours went by so fast that when saint peter came the odm supporter didn't want to go .
Rules are rules my man lets go -you have to go to heaven before you make a choice .On arrival in heaven things were ok ,people were happy though it wasn't as exciting as hell. the mood was good but things seemed kind of slow compared to hell. The odm supporter though settled and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and 24 hours passed. Saint peter came and asked the odm supporter ok you have seen both sides tell me which one do you want to go to.
The odm supporter said I would have never thought of saying this but I choose to go to hell!
OK saint peter said lets go so he pushed the elevator button and the went to hell .upon arrival the odm supporter was shocked .Hell was looking grim the people were in rags and they were hungry, the place smelled and garbage was strewn all over ,there were flying toilets and rapes ,violence and all sorts of things . Saint peter quickly shut the door and left the odm supporter ,The odm supporter started complaining I was here yesterday everything was fine the people were happy the place was clean there was free rent ,food and drink this is not the same .At this point RAILA(The Devil) put his hands around the odm supporter and said .
THAT WAS YESTERDAY WE WERE CAMPAIGNING .THIS IS TODAY YOU VOTED !
Think before you vote ODM!
Taabu,
ReplyDeleteI always miss the meaning you wish to portray with this metaphor-"sandwiched between a rock and the dark blue sea". I mean its an envious place to be sandwiched,if you think of it, because you can always swim to freedom. This is what 'Chris' seems to be suggesting, seeking a parliamentary seat in the city (Nairobi, I presume). Only I don't know where, because every constituency is choking with new comers, let alone the incumbents. But, whether or not ODM-yawa forms the next govt, she can be assured of a nomination to parliament. Better, she will be minister (again, its only 3 months away, how convenient!) if ODM-yawa wins. In any case she is individually safe, but her defection is of no value to ODM-yawa.
That is a nice tease PKW. Thanks for pulling my LEG except I am sorry to disappoint you because I am not falling for the bait. Your post clearly demonstrates you correctly understood me. Moreover a metaphor just like a joke becomes STALE when explained.
ReplyDeleteThat said you couldn't be more right. The premium from Ngilu's defection is more sentimental and psychological than substance (read votes). But hey, as the beverage advert goes image (and I add perception) is EVERYTHING. That is more true in politics especially of our Kenyan brand, don't you think so? Ngilu has just purchased a 5-year political (MP at least) insurance. Whether that is selfishness or being smart is subjective.
Let me say something about this so much talked about Charity ngilu.
ReplyDeleteOne, if Ngilu loses her parliamentary seat, it will not be wholly attributable to the Kalonzo excitement. It will have a lot to do with other things including her performance as MP. Ukambani politics is politics like any other of course BUT voters down there have proven over and over again that the party you run on always comes second. They have tended to vote for Individuals rather than parties. That is why Kalonzo Musyoka MUST give the people a free hand to pick ODM-K's parliamentary and civic candidates if he habours any dreams of getting three quarters of the Ukambani seats.
If ngilu loses, she should look for excuses elsewhere. She ran for president in 1997 and caused her own share of excitement in the region. With all that hype she generated, she only got 8 out of the region's 17 parliamentary seats. She got an overwhelming majority of the presidential vote in all Ukambani constituencies except Mwingi North where moi had a landslide. Many other people in Ukambani have done it even in the face of seeming euphoria against them. When sympathisers blame her precarious hold on the seat on ODM-K, they are not telling the whole story.
Now that kaluki Ngilu is being glorified here and being advised to go to a city constituency (Let her try and she will now lose proper--People have a misconception that Nairobians will vote for you just because u have a 'national appeal' in Raila's and Chris's books. Even true heavyweights like Rubia lost) is that not betrayal?Ngilu was selling bread in Machackos until the people of Kitui central brought her to the limelight. It is a pity that she now thinks the opinions of those very people do not matter . It is a bigger pity that people are encouraging her to disregard her 'employers' with abandon. I would rather do a Uhuru (If that is what my employers want me to do) than move around with little boys midwifing in Mathare. Either way she goes, the day of reckoning is just around the corner.
Ngilu will be nominated to parliament by the ODM because it is a party led by dictators. Their supporters, here and elsewhere, knowing this all very well have continuosly encouraged her to 'soldier on' promising her a nomination slot. How will the party nominate someone who is not even a party member to parliament when there are tens of thousands of deserving members? These fellows must have been present when Dictatorship 101 was taught in college.
Even if she were nominated, what is the value of a sixty year old unelected politician to an opposition party? Ngilu has been a little relevant just because she was appointed minister. She will be in the opposition benches come January and that will be the second discovery of Esther Keino.
Oh sorry, was Ngilu "The Best Health Minister?" I am sure this was discovered the other day when she started moving around with Raila--Not quite surprising. What parameters did you fellows use? Will you guys use the same and tell me who the best Roads Minister ever was?
Vikii You need to consult a dictionary and look up the word dictator, for one it is impossible for a country to be led by dictators, there can only be one. Two, Raila has never been president so how can be called one, or anyone else in ODM. I understand and respect the fact that you're not a fan of Raila or ODM for that matter, but you should critique someone intelligently or at least in a manner that does not make you look full of hatred and ignorance.
ReplyDeleteOk Mr. Anonymous, I am known for picking up the gauntlet every time it is thrown my way. Ignorance definitely means different things to each on of us. I have my opinion about who between the two of us is ignorant and here is why:
ReplyDeleteWhile I do not wish to deny that Raila is indeed a dictator, I will point it to you that I never said that in my comment. Take your time and re-read my post(Do it twice, slowly and loud). I said and I quote "That party is led by dictators...". The words 'party and 'country' mean diferent things, dont you think?
Finally, I actually did look up the word 'Dictator' as instructed by you. I dont know what your dictionary says but mine defines a dicator as "An absolute ruler, a tyrant, a despot". In short, you do not need to have been president to be a dictator. At least that's how I understand it.
The above is why I still believe that there is an ignorant person between the two of us and it's certainly not me.
