What is happening to Kenyan journalists!
Even as the Nation media group sex scandal continues to shock Kenyans all over the world, reports reaching this writer from an impeccable source, and accompanied by evidence have revealed a shocking date rape incident that took place in London between February 20th and 22nd this year involving another very well known Kenyan journalist.
As you read this, the source is in the process of publishing on the net, an entire set of emails exchanged between her and the said CNN correspondent who is of Kenyan origin. This writer has had access to the entire set of emails spanning the period between August 2006 and last week when the date rapist sent threats to his victim on discovering that she intended to publicize the incident over the World Wide Web.
Briefly what happened was that the lady in question, A Swiss national approached the CNN journalist via email in August 2006, requesting for assistance in publicizing a book that she has recently published on Kenya. Instead of keeping the relationship professional, the journalist (who is married) made repeated "advances" (clearly documented in the emails) which despite initial resistance, the woman finally succumbed to and accepted to travel all the way to London from Spain, where she lives, to meet the journalist who was in Great Britain during the said dates to attend a CNN function for all its' worldwide correspondents.
During a brief encounter where the two were supposed to have gone out for a candle lit dinner, the journalist instead arrived dressed in a tracksuit and innocently requested that he make some calls from his date's hotel room. It was at the room that the well-known journalist turned violent and against the wishes of the terrified woman had unprotected sex with her. The woman was left hurt and had to seek medical treatment after the encounter.
Matters came to a head when the journalist threatened his victim several times in subsequent emails. The threats culminated in a chilling telephone call where the journalist warned her against reproducing their emails on the World Wide Web with the words; "I may only loose my job - but you will loose your life..."
Excerpts from the set of emails set to be published on the web later this week, complete with the name of the very well known Kenyan journalist (I have omitted the names for the time being but will reveal them later this week);
I can’t remember to have ever felt like that – misused and mistreated by somebody who pretended to love me ….
After you left me – after we had sex in the roughest and most careless way – I felt so dirty and took a shower and stood under the water for more than half an hour. And still continued feeling dirty.
And on top of that you have injured me – I am still bleeding and will go to see a Doctor tomorrow.
But the most offensive thing was your silence afterwards – no word – no call – just nothing.
I spoke with my daughter and there is one question she has repeated: why did he insist that you come to London … although obviously he does not care a bit about you.
And then there is the point of my injury – which scared her a lot and I had to promise to make an Aids-test as soon as possible.
Knowing you now, I do not even expect a reply anymore – but I think you should know how I feel.
Do you remember your nice words: I will never hurt you – I love you and respect you too much to ever disappoint you – just trust me …..?????????????
Just empty words now – like you once said: ‘talk is cheap’ …
I also think that you deserve a kind of revenge – a lesson never to treat a woman like that.
…My only worry now is my health status and then how to carry on trying to forget the whole ‘episode'
One way would be to publish all our correspondence from day one in the Internet – title: ‘Mr X – the real man behind the scenes – a warning to all my Sisters out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
Here is his immediate reply:
Dear …….,
I wish you knew what I went through the last two days ……
As for your ‘health’, I can assure you that you are ALRIGHT …….. in fact I can PROMISE you that …… as you know I would NEVER put you in any danger …… I told you that once before …… and I am a man of my word.

As for publishing my mails, if you, Ms XXXX, want to be the woman who will DESTROY the reputation I’ve worked so hard to build, to DESTROY the trust I put in you to write from the heart, that will really break my heart……….

Crime In Kenya Escalates To New Heights On Mombasa Highway As Coast Bus Is Hijacked: Driver Shot Dead, 5 Women Raped
It was a horrific weekend for a group of travelers on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway as the bus they were traveling in (belonging to the Coast Bus company) was hijacked by armed gangsters at Kibwezi who shot dead the driver, robbed motorists and raped at least five female passengers.
According to witnesses, the gangsters boarded the coast bus at Mlolongo near Nairobi only to raise hell over 200 kilometers away in Kibwezi, which is notorious for highway robberies.
Police records released to the public show that two of the most wanted gangsters operate between Makindu and Kibwezi and it could not be surprising if they were involved in the weekend incident which has raised fresh concerns over the safety of traveling at night by bus to far flung destinations.
Over the years, Kenyans have considered bus travel as the safest mode of moving around besides air travel whose cost is prohibitive and beyond the reach of most Kenyans.
What happened on the expansive highway this last weekend, goes a long way to show what today's violent criminals are capable of. A bus carries at least seventy passengers and among them could be armed policemen in civilian clothes, a fact that the thugs know very well but are willing to take the risk.
And again, even five gangsters armed with guns can be overpowered by seventy people with minimum casualties as long as the assault by the passengers is well coordinated. The thugs also know this but are willing to take the risk for a few thousand shillings and the sickening pleasure they get from raping their victims.
Today's criminals are willing to take life-threatening risks for relatively small 'rewards' not forgetting that violent crime is a capital offence in Kenya punishable by death on conviction. Those who escape apprehension by law enforcers could end up being executed by police or worse still, the wrath of mob justice where members of public beat cornered suspects to death.
Kenyans have refused to face the reality of the crime situation and this is well depicted by the kind of solutions that all and sundry offer which includes increasing the number of heavily armed policemen on the streets to carrying out extra-judicial killings on notoriously known hardcore criminals.
However, the first step in stemming the increasing crime rate is to get teenagers and the youth busy especially those who have dropped out of school and calling on parents to closely monitor and care for their kids not to mention stressing on moral values and probity.
