The Power of Silence: Understanding Uhuru Kenyatta's Strategy Amid Ruto's AU Job Bid

In the ongoing drama surrounding Raila Odinga's pursuit of the African Union job, one key figure has remained conspicuously silent—Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, the fourth President of Kenya. His silence has raised many questions among Kenyans, especially as Raila is set to take on a prominent role while pressing issues persist within the country that need his attention. Uhuru, renowned for his strategic use of silence, has once again left us pondering his intentions.

This silence isn't a new tactic for Uhuru. Remember when he and William Ruto were at odds in the lead-up to the 2022 presidential elections? Uhuru's silence during the crucial moments forced Ruto to react prematurely, inadvertently losing political support that could have come his way had he waited for Uhuru to speak. By saying nothing, Uhuru left Ruto in an uncomfortable position, waiting for a declaration of loyalty that never came. It’s this silence that has turned Uhuru into a master of political maneuvering.

Now, as Raila Odinga seeks the AU job, many Kenyans are asking: Why isn't Uhuru speaking up in support of his “brother” Raila? His silence on the matter suggests that all may not be well behind the scenes. If Uhuru genuinely supported Raila, he would likely have made a public endorsement, perhaps offering to leverage his network to secure the necessary backing for Raila’s candidacy. Instead, he has remained tight-lipped, which some believe points to deeper, unseen political forces at play.

This silence has led some to speculate that Raila’s bid for the AU job is part of a larger political strategy, potentially orchestrated to push him out of the local political scene. Some have even gone so far as to claim that Uhuru and Raila are no longer allies. However, I believe this is far from the truth. Despite appearances, the two are still working together behind closed doors, and their relationship remains intact.

What’s truly behind this silence, and what does it all mean for Kenya’s political landscape? To fully understand the situation, one must look deeper into past events, including the BBI, the mysterious ban on Amos Wako, and the recent appointment of Ezra Chiloba as the Council General in Los Angeles. These are all connected in a way that may reshape our understanding of current political dynamics.
