After discussing the potential revelations from the 2022 election servers, I realized that many people still do not fully understand Kenyan election politics. Surprisingly, Kenyan election politics is quite simple and can be summarized in one sentence: Stop Raila Odinga, stop Raila at all costs. Though this may sound extreme, I have compelling evidence to back up this claim.
Let me first explain why this is relevant today. I believe that if the 2022 election servers are opened, similar tactics will be employed to prevent Raila from achieving justice. These methods have been used in previous elections, and here are four tricks that have been deployed to stop Raila in the past:
Trick #1: The Loopholes Before 2010
Before the 2010 Constitution, there were many loopholes that allowed powerful individuals to stop the rightful winner from assuming office. A key example is the 2007 election, where the election did not end at the polling station. Instead, results were “corrected” by returning officers, making it easy to manipulate the vote tally. This allowed someone with far fewer votes to be declared the winner. In 2007, this tactic was used strategically to ensure that both Kibaki and Raila’s votes were tampered with, creating the illusion that both sides had stolen votes, thus preventing any serious scrutiny of the election results.
Trick #2: Media Blackout in 2013
In 2013, the authorities anticipated that Raila would win, and they implemented a media blackout. The media was told that due to the sensitive nature of the 2007 post-election violence, they should only announce election results sparingly. This prevented voters from gauging the outcome in real-time and made it difficult to detect any discrepancies.
Trick #3: Multiple Servers for Results in 2017 and 2022
By 2017, the authorities had refined their election-rigging tactics. They introduced multiple servers for the election results, so when the Supreme Court ordered the opening of the servers, only one server (not the one with the correct results) was opened. This trick worked again in 2022 when the results were tampered with, and the authorities ensured that Raila’s victory was never recognized, despite what the servers may have indicated.
Trick #4: Suppression of Counter-Efforts
In 2017, NASA tried to counter this by setting up their own tallying center to independently verify results from over 60,000 polling stations. However, the intelligence community went to great lengths to sabotage this effort, including seizing vital equipment and intimidating personnel. Despite their best efforts, the Supreme Court, under Chief Justice David Maraga, ruled that the election process was flawed, invalidating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory. This sent NASA supporters into the streets celebrating.
The 2022 Election and Beyond
In 2022, those orchestrating the election manipulation looked at the process backwards. They altered the results starting from the end of the process—the Supreme Court. The final judgment was not written in typical legal language, but instead used terms that seemed more political than legal, which raised suspicions about its authenticity.
The strategy to stop Raila Odinga has been ongoing since 2007. Each time, they’ve perfected their methods, ensuring that Raila’s victories are disregarded, no matter how large his margins of victory are. This is Kenyan election politics: preventing Raila from taking office at all costs, even if it means tampering with results, restricting media access, or manipulating the judicial process.
If the servers are opened, it’s likely that the findings will not be what Kenyans expect. The results may show Raila’s victory, but they could be manipulated in ways we don’t anticipate. The links to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), Amos Wako’s travel ban, and the appointment of Ezra Chiloba as Consul General in Los Angeles all connect to this larger web of manipulation.
This entire system has been designed with one goal: to stop Raila Odinga, who, despite winning multiple presidential elections by a landslide, has never been sworn in. The tricks employed to stop him have been executed with precision and planning, and they will likely continue in the future.
In my latest special report, "Unimaginable Secrets of the Server," I go deeper into these connections and explain how the true extent of Kenya’s election politics is not as simple as it seems. Only a select few will get access to this highly sensitive information, and I invite those interested to act quickly.
