The drama that was at the Azimio Sunday presser and what it tells about Ruto's next unexpected move against Raila and team

Now over the weekend Azimio had a super fascinating press conference. And it was fascinating for many reasons.

To start with, there is the issue with the Press who were echoing what is going on in the minds of Kenyans, especially those Kenyans in the middle class. You see this group of Kenyans (who of course form a vast majority all the subscribers to the Kumekucha Chris YouTube channel) don't get it. They really don't understand the issues here. And at the presser there was a lot of impatience from some of the members of Azimio like Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and Jeremiah Kioni, when this lack of understanding came through in some of the questions being asked.

And as a result, some of the questions that were asked by the journalists were annoying. But I think I understand where the problem is coming from. You see we in the middle class want our life to go back to normal as soon as possible. So that we go back to work and continue making our deals. The comfortable middle class selfishly want to continue earning their comfortable salaries of 500K, 600K, 1 million plus and so on. And they want to do it in peace without all the current chaos in the country. They are completely ignoring or playing mum to the plight of millions of Kenyans struggling to survive just by getting the basics and losing that battle daily.

And the belching middle class are desperate for that to happen like yesterday. Indeed that is why people have really been pushing this agenda of a handshake. It just can't seem to go away. It doesn't matter that Raila Odinga has repeated dozens of times that he is NOT interested in any kind of handshake with Ruto or Kenya Kwanza and never wants to be a part of the mess that is Ruto's regime.

There was one member of the press who asked;

"you politicians are letting us down why do you need a mediator we have a very good constitution can this thing be solved within the parameters of our constitution? Is this not egg on the face to the political class who allow this mess every election cycle?"

Peter Munya, a former governor of Meru and the new kid on the block for Azimio, answered that question ingeniously. Apart from responding that there's nothing in the Constitution that makes a mediator illegal, he made it very clear that, yes there's a problem and that was why there were talks. And reading between the lines he also made it very clear where the problem was. Because for the Constitution to be working, the people governing must remain within the parameter of the Constitution. If they do that then there'll be no problem. But when somebody decides this part of the Constitution I will follow to the letter BUT this one NO, it doesn't favor me. So I will just ignore it.

When somebody does that don't you think you have a problem in fact a very big problem. Incidentally Raila's insisting on a mediator had convinced many Kenyans that the Azimio supremo may be eager for handshake.

But the real reason why Mr. Odinga wanted a mediator should be very clear by now. It is because Ruto and Kenya Kwanza keep on "shifting the goal posts". Today they say this, and tomorrow they do something totally different. How are you going to get anywhere with these kind of characters on the other side?

"Trust deficit," Munya called this problem referring to Ruto and Kenya Kwanza.

Most Kenyans were not aware of it, but the appointment of the new director of public prosecutions Noordin Haji to be Ruto's first National Intelligence Services Director General was very significant for anybody following up on clues to answer many disturbing questions concerning what exactly happened last August during the mysterious Presidential elections. John Jomo succeeded in his prayers to the court and Justice Jairus Ngaah issued an injunction prohibiting the agency from requiring Jomo Kenyatta junior to surrender his pistol without first going through the laid down legal process. But how will the Ruto government respond? Here are a few possible "crazy" scenarios.

Those who saw Hussein Mohamed during his distinguished career as a Citizen TV journalist may be excused for feeling pity for him watching his body language a few hours ago as he fielded a question about Raila's claim that President Ruto invited the Tanzanian president to Kenya to mediate talks between him and Raila Odinga, only to snub her. President Samia Suluhu Hassan then left the country after two nights at a Nairobi hotel waiting in vain.

Mohamed started off laughing nervously when the question was posed. He then followed it up with his shifty answer which hardly made sense.

In just a handful of days, what happened in Nyalenda, Kisumu recently has moved from being highly sensitive to the Ruto government to something being discussed openly. And surprisingly, the international media and community are suddenly leading the discussions and showing great concern.

Raila Odinga in a press conference with the international press in Nairobi yesterday even went on to use the phrase “ethnic cleansing” and made comparisons with similar happenings from the past from all over the world. Read Chris Kumekucha full article
