Kalonzo Musyoka: Is The Presidency Slipping Through His Fingers?
One thing is for sure. Whatever the LDP or ODM says, most of them are bitterly against Kalonzo Musyoka being the next President of Kenya.
And it is clear that his enemies are prepare to do anything to tarnish his image and reduce his clout.
While distributing relief food in Malindi through his Kalonzo Musyoka foundation on Monday, the former environment minister repeated his assertion that he knew the people who were responsible for planting the story in the media about his meeting with President Kibaki. Yet again he repeated that these people are within LDP.
It is even more instructive that as he was distributing food in Malindi, Raila odinga and Najib Balala, his LDP colleagues were doing the same in neighbouring Ganze in Kilifi District.
Kalonzo cannot become President on his own. He needs the support of other major political blocks.
As events unfold it will be interesting to see what happens, especially within Kanu where Musyoka is still very close to former President Moi and the chief chess player behind current heightened Kanu moves to snatch back political power.
Recent elections have proved that Ukambani, where Musyoka hails from is the “swing state’ in Kenyan politics. It’s like Florida in the American Presidential elections.
In 1992 Ukambani puts its’ weight behind Moi and Kanu as food distribution intensified in the vast semi-arid province in the run up to those first multi-party elections, since 1963. Kanu won.
In 1997 Ukambani stuck with Kanu and Moi who won those elections
In 2002 Ukambani switched to the opposition Narc who won those elections
In November 2005 Referendum Ukambani switched to the “No” camp at the height of campaigns. The No camp won.
So what happens when the swing state fields a candidate? Difficult to tell and this complicates things further for the 2007 Presidential elections.

Hon kalonzo does not stand for anything or something hes just a spoiler on hire who cant finish the work he was given by MoiKibaki,
ReplyDeleteKalonzo has the best education policy on Free Secondary Education. His team are missing the opportunity by not taking the debate further and pushing the boundaries on education issues.
ReplyDeleteRuto is on poverty eradication, Raila on governance, the rest have yet to register. Kalonzo team, get to work and do not sit on the Steadman laurels, you may be in for a shock if you do.
This is a good beginning, but it would be prudent if Kalonzo goes for this race in 2012.If he supports one of the ODM presidential hopefuls, then he will gather alot of support in 2012.The reality is that he doesnt have alot of support. How many MPs supoort him they are our representatives in the parliament
ReplyDeleteWITH HIS MR CLEAN ATTITUDE KALONZO CANNOT MAKE IT.WE NEED SOMEBODY WHO CAN MAKE OUTRIGHT DECISIONS.NOT A FENCE SITTER.WHERE WAS KALONZO WHEN MOI MADE OPPOSITION AN IMPOSSIBLE WORK,MAN YOU NEED TIME TO CONVINCE KENYANS.GO FOR IT IN 2017
ReplyDeleteMY ONLY PROBLEM SO FAR WITH KALONZO IS THAT HE IS A (HOMOSEXUAL). HIS DRESSING STYLE AND PAST AFFILIATIONS TELL IT ALL. I DONT HONESTLY THINK OUR SOCIETY IS LIBERAL ENOUGH TO HAVE A GAY PRESIDENT DESPITE THE FACT THAT EVERONE HAS A RIGHT TO EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IRRESPECTIVE OF HIS SEXUAL AFFILIATION.
ReplyDeleteSO MR ANONYMOUS, WHO IS RAILA IN ODM TO COMPARE WITH KALONZO? JUST AN ARROGANT WEALTHY GUY WITH DICTATORSHIP QUALITIES, IF HE IS A GOOD MAN, LET HIS ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER TAN JUST YELLING ON THE STREETS.
ReplyDeleteKALONZO IS THE MAN TO WATCH OUT FOR!
Mr kalonzo should go slow on this matter. let him not shy away from the delegates nomination process. If he wins we shall support him. he should stop behaviong like a woman who is being seduced.

ReplyDeleteAs youth we are behid you. Raise up your standard as the President. You have All what Kenyans look for.
You did us proud when you left the RAIRA camp to contest alone. We were afraid when you was in their camp for they are terible, corupt and without any focus exept your dreams and visions which they turned to become their's.
A bit of advice Coz the issue of Majibo is not well understood, why can't you insist on financial majibo.
For your sister CHARITY NGILU, in Kitui central we have Decided even if A dog stands to be voted on ODM-K ticket we will vote it in. Let she forget parliament completely for Even Raila cant nominate her for both Nyanga and Balala will not make it and Raila's slots will be few for He will be no.3.
