The Overturn Prophecy: Reflections on Kenya’s Journey of Change

 Today marks five years since my last update on the "Overturn Prophecy" shared by a Nigerian prophetess living in the United States—someone who has never set foot in Kenya. This prophecy, first revealed to her about Kenya, has taken on new significance over time. In the heat of the moment, many dismissed its relevance, but as the years passed, clarity emerged. However, through the actions of Jehu, a ruthless general anointed by Elisha, the prophecy came to pass in precise detail. This biblical tale serves as a reminder that divine timelines often defy human expectations. Similarly, the Kenyan prophecy stated: “Change shall come to Kenya, but not how or when Kenyans expect it.”

Since my last update, Kenya has witnessed numerous “overturns.” Major events and political forces have dramatically shifted, often unexpectedly:

1. The Collapse of the BBI Initiative: Championed by powerful figures like former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was a significant political project. Despite its initial momentum, it was overturned and stopped abruptly.

2. The Overturning of Political Alliances: The Jubilee government, initially unified in 2017, transformed entirely after the 2018 handshake, evolving into what many termed the “handshake government.” This shift divided public opinion and marked a new phase in Kenya’s political narrative.

3. The Rise of the Ruto Presidency: William Ruto’s presidency represents another major overturn. His administration has dismantled many previously powerful entities, echoing the campaign against dynasties. This aligns closely with the prophecy’s assertion that powerful structures will be overturned, regardless of their origins.

The Role of Judgment

The prophecy speaks not only of overturns but also of judgment. Each overturn brings pain and upheaval, evident in the aftermath of political and economic shifts. The August 2022 election, for instance, left a trail of discontent and division. Media houses, businesses, and citizens alike felt the repercussions. Based on what has transpired, it is evident that Kenya is nearing the final stages of the overturns. Interestingly, the political class is unlikely to spearhead this change; instead, it may come through unexpected actors, outside the traditional power structures.
