Wind is the movement of air from areas of high pressure to low pressure. It is caused by the sun heating the Earth's surface unevenly. When the sun heats the Earth, warm air rises, creating low-pressure areas. Cooler air from surrounding regions moves in to replace the rising warm air, creating wind. The Coriolis effect, caused by the Earth's rotation, causes the wind to be deflected, influencing the direction it flows. Wind is also influenced by geographical features like mountains and oceans, which can either strengthen or alter its flow.
