Church Official Wanted For Brutal Attack On Partner In Nakuru

Police in Nakuru and its surrounding areas are on the hunt for Alias Jao, a church official accused of stabbing his partner, Florence Jerry, multiple times in a violent altercation on Thursday. The suspect reportedly fled the scene, leaving Florence fighting for her life.

Florence Wanjiku is currently recuperating at a Nakuru hospital, where she is undergoing treatment for 18 stab wounds and other severe injuries, including partially severed fingers. She remains in critical condition but is stable after the first of several planned surgeries.

According to Florence, the incident stemmed from both personal and business disputes with her estranged partner. She revealed that she had asked Alias to end their relationship and resolve outstanding financial issues. However, her refusal to continue the relationship enraged Alias, leading to the brutal attack near her home.

Police have launched an intensive manhunt for Alias Jao, vowing to bring him to justice. Nakuru police officials have assured the public that the suspect’s freedom will be short-lived. "He can run, but he cannot hide. We urge him to surrender at the nearest police station to avoid further complications," a senior police officer stated.

The incident has sparked outrage across the county, with local leaders and activists condemning the attack and calling for swift justice. Leaders from the county have pledged to monitor the case and support Florence and her family during this trying time. "We stand with Florence and demand that justice is served promptly. The government cannot address these issues alone; we must unite as a community to end such violence," a local leader emphasized.

This attack is one among a growing number of cases of gender-based violence (GBV) that have escalated into femicide. Activists are urging the government to declare GBV a national crisis and implement stricter measures to protect vulnerable individuals. The government has reiterated its commitment to addressing these heinous crimes and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

As the nation rallies around Florence, many are hopeful for her recovery and justice for the crime committed against her.
