A man called Moses Kiarie Kuria is in the news a lot. There are various aspects of this unending Moses Kuria drama that impact on our politics, and not just the media, that I'd like to highlight on our show today.
Super super fascinating stuff I assure you, and later on on this show I'll move to an even more fascinating topic of how the Kiambu gubernatorial elections were rigged. Most don't know that there was a lot of drama in that puzzling election last August.
But let's start with a deeper look at the character of Moses Kuria, the current cabinet secretary Investments trade and Industry. My search revealed a lot and it opened a can of worms that I could not continue opening, I just had to shut it.
Too many worms were crawling out and I knew that some of those "worms" I could not even share in my Weekly Intelligence Briefings. However I can hint at some of them.
And so let's go.
Most Kenyans have already forgotten that in the first 100 days of the Kenya Kwanza administration, Moses Kuria had already broken a record for foreign trips he had made 19 foreign trips in the first 100 days. He made even more foreign trips than the cabinet secretary in charge of Foreign Affairs. Can you imagine that? Foreign CS, Dr. Alfred Mutua made 15 trips over the same period which is understandable as he is in charge of Foreign Affairs which means he can't avoid representing the country in various forums where foreign ministers are required.
But Kuria is only the trade CS and it really doesn't make any sense. Does it?
One particular favorite destination for CS Kuria has really piqued my interest and that is a country called Belarus...
PLUS evidence of how the Kiambu gubernatorial elections were rigged and the drama that followed when something went wrong...

The changes Kibaki secretly ordered on the draft constitution
...President Kenyatta played similar “executive games” in the late 60s when he at one point heavily financed both the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga camp and the Mboya camp within Kanu. He was of course with the Mboya camp but did not want the Odinga camp to know what was happening. And so Kibaki is not the first Kenyan president to publicly support something and secretly route for something else.
Moi's complex exit from power
In Africa a president's exit plan is crucial. Terribly so. Because if it fails it can lead to a troubled retirement as former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family have realized. Almost a year after he left power, Uhuru Kenyatta's name still dominates President William Ruto's speeches and indeed that of his cronies.
Here is the fascinating story of the first ever President of Kenya who left power in a very a complex and toxic environment...
Tricky, tricky: It was a scene straight from a mafia movie. Then president Moi (still in office) moving around the streets of Zurich from bank to bank transferring all the accounts to Gideon Moi
