There was drama at a coastal institution yesterday as scores of pupils and students at the Mbaraki Academy were possessed by evil spirits and started behaving in a bizarre manner including talking in a strange language and experiencing seizures which prompted education officials to order temporary closure of the institution.
Apparently, only females were affected by the strange phenomenon that is nothing new in Kenyan schools with a similar case being experienced in western Kenya last week at a primary school.
A few years ago, several schools in Ukambani were temporarily shut following similar 'attacks' from unseen forces but the situation went back to normal after inter denomination prayers were conducted at the institutions which were in Machakos and Kitui districts.
Usually what we are not told is exactly how the female students are usually “harassed” by the evil spirits. I vividly remember a case at the Muvuti Mixed Secondary school near Machakos town where female students said they were being sexually assaulted at night by invisible forces while others claimed they they were being beaten up. Inexplicably, non of the boys in the school said they had noticed any strange happening.
It is believed that evil spirits prefer attacking school going children due to their tender age and innocence which makes them most vulnerable and an ideal target for the dark forces who torment the young souls.
In most cases, teachers are accused of bringing the evil spirits to the learning institutions while in a few instances; it is pupils who get accused of tormenting their colleagues by inviting the dark forces to school, which is a fertile hunting ground for the evil spirits.
The government has never accepted the situation in all incidents of such nature and are quick to call it inexplicable mass hysteria among pupils and never an invasion of evil spirits. This has only
compounded the problem as authorities bury their heads in the sand and refuse to accept the reality of the situation.
Towards the end of president Moi's tenure, a commission was established to investigate the extent of devil worship in the country, and especially in schools, but although the report was completed and handed over to the government, it was never made public, to the chagrin of millions of curious Kenyans who are mystified by the strange occult world and it's apparent rise in Kenya in recent years.

"An Invisible Force Made Love To Me"
I have systems in place to monitor the readership of this blog and I can tell you that I am deeply honoured and humbled by the fact that the folks who read this site daily are generally very well educated Kenyans and much more smarter than I am. You can easily tell from many of the comments left behind.
But sometimes this kind of desirable profile comes with its' problems. For instance, it causes some people to believe that there has to be a scientific explanation to everything in this life.
But then those of us who have experienced life to the full and traveled widely know only too well that this life is full of twists and turns and things that cannot be explained scientifically or by logic.
Remember the Bermuda triangle where ships full of passengers and entire planes disappear into thin air without a trace? At times ships have re-appeared empty without any clues inside as to what would have happened to the occupants. Remember the popular "Stranger than fiction" syndicated worldwide column that appeared for many years in the Standard newspaper?
The list is endless and it is with this in mind that I present you with a problem that is facing quite a number of Kenyan women these days. They really have nobody to share it with and most folks will just laugh them out of the room. But here goes.
There is this close friend of the family, a divorced woman who for many years has had a very strange problem. Some invisible force would come to her at night and make love to her by force. The "thing" would even leave physical evidence sometimes like semen. This used to happen even when she was still married. At one time "the strong demon" (that's what she calls him) flung her husband off their bed with such force that he hit his head against the wall and remained on the floor dazed during the entire time that the rape went on.
No, my friend has no history of being in a mental institution.
And there is more. She once admitted sheepishly to my wife that a spirit is much better at making love than a human and she kind of enjoyed it sometimes, which made her feel even more guilty and caused such emotional upheaval in her that on several occasions, she seriously considered committing suicide and leaving behind her two lovely children.
The good news is that she found a solution and these days the "thing" has disappeared. I will only share what she did to find a solution in the comments section here and only if I can get at least two readers of this blog who know persons who have gone through the ordeal—even if it is themselves. What I have to say can only be useful to such people looking for a solution I have no intention of giving these details to other scientific types who have no use for it and will only laugh and ridicule this site.
This problem is not limited to men. Once when I was in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania a friend of ours (a man) had a sudden searing unbearable pain from his backside one night. He felt an invisible force penetrating him from behind, the way homosexuals do it. Later we were told that the house where he lived was built with funds obtained from the "spirit world" and that certain human sacrifices were made. What all this meant is that the house "ilukua na wenyewe," (had its' owners) as the Tanzanians put it in such eloquent Kiswahili.
P.S. Incidentally a woman in the United States suffered a similar ordeal and her story was made into a major Hollywood movie in the 80s—I forget the title of the movie, but it was a box office success.
