Why Ruto wanted to be president: All the wrong reasons that will shock you

Ruto had a plan and a burning desire to be president. That much is clear. He launched a crusade (in his mind) to achieve his ultimate goal, long before he actually vied.

However, the reasons Ruto wanted to be President are what would shock you:- you see, he has always been fascinated by unbridled personal power, boundless personal wealth and wide personal fame , ever since he set his eyes up close on Mr. Moi and watched him 'perform' .

Mr. Moi co-opted him and other young, reckless thugs into YK'92, to help him shore up his then besieged and tottering regime, through: a potent mixture of corruption, violence, and other choice extra-judicial methods, like special- purpose, made-to-order tribal clashes. He wants to use the KK MPs in the same Moi way, by dispatching them to their constituencies to go and coordinate violence and other illegalities. -----

----- Ruto cut his teeth in YK'92 and it's there that his brain got inflammed with dreams of absolutist power embodied in the presidency then. He discovered (then) that violence pays and it is a premium tool to attain and/or maintain raw power. Well, he had a front-row seat in Moi's raw power theatre, and he was mesmerized and in awe. It is here Ruto also discovered how easy it was to use bureaucratic chicanery to control events and people. These things would come in handy to Ruto later, as we have been able to witness. Example:- Ruto comes in 2022 with minority MPs in parliament, but 'magically' transforms that into a majority through sheer chicanery; more like by waving a Houdini wand. Mr. Moi gave a free hand and allowed the YK'92 thugs to do colossal damage to the economy, by fueling inflation, through printing money and giving it to the Rutos, Jirongos and Kirwas of the day to buy political allegiance, coercion and to finance tribal clashes, among other unsavoury things. There are striking similarities to the current on-goings. From his stint inYK'92,, Ruto learned that it's actually possible to get fabulously rich by commandeering state resources for personal gain, without breaking a sweat ; and that it's possible to be ultra rich by promoting and executing destruction, and not creation of anything. He has never ever strayed from that principle. It is also then, that Ruto fully embraced and internalized the notion of Complete Parasitism on the body of our society as a method and philosophy of life. Instead of struggling, like everybody else, and extoling the virtues of hard work and self-reliance, he came to believe that you just have to be in the right place, at the right time, and be prepared to be callous, mercilessly dominate and take no prisoners. And so with the precision of a highly-qualified contract killer/sniper, by the time the elections rolled around in 2022, he went for the ultimate jugular; he went for the source of The River Nile of Power, and therefore, the source of all Money:- the Kenyan Presidency!. To succeed, all he needed to do was to create a fraudulent imitation, a fake perception of the inevitability of his Presidency in one or two of the predominantly reactionary areas of Kenya; and, in case of necessity, he would top up the gap with his usual dependable methods:- theft, corruption and violence, outright or implied. In his quest, he found willing accomplices, like the woefully corrupt, spineless quisling, Chebukati , who both loved money and, (being the coward he is), feared Ruto's implied violence. Chebukati opted to have both Ruto's blood money and his life intact, albeit temporarily, if you know what such "kings", like Ruto, do to their Kingmakers. If Ruto's pattern remains the same, and it will, Chebukati is a marked man, a walking dead, if you ask me. In Ruto's world there is only Ruto, and so any hint of inconvenience is resolved with finality, the death sentence. The danger Chebukati poses to Ruto, is that he knows where the skeletons are hidden, and there is a theoretical possibility that he may "sing" , under certain 'favorable' circumstances and undermine a carefully stitched grand lie; the lie that Ruto actually won the presidential poll. Ruto is the President of Kenya strictly and exclusively for his own personal welfare and that of his cronies; so there should be no illusions!
