NHIF: Scandals Galore as Elections Approach

The latest smell of scandal at NHIF cannot be divorced from the forthcoming general elections. History is replete with mega scandals minted to finance elections. The Ministry of Medical services cannot woodwink us to believe in spending 700m in two phantom health institutions. It follows a very familiar script akin to exporting non-existent gold and selling air using tax payers money.

Introducing the usual ODM-PNU wars does not whitewash. The NHIF board drama captured it all. Meanwhile the loser remains the very Kenyan tax payer who will unwittingly end up supporting and electing one of their own after being taken the cleaners by the very fraudsters.

We are not poor because of lack of great policies. Far from it, our main problem lies in the fact that we formulate very good ideas with the singular objective of cannibalizing them. Fleecing taxpayers of their health insurance of amounts to dancing on their collective graves. Conscience my foot!

What is more, just the other day it was revealed more than 200m was smartly misplaced in the budget estimates. It didn't matter that the line ministries did not ask for the money neither were they aware. This is Kenya we are talking about where COMPUTER ERRORS crop up handy when caught with hands firmly in the national till.

Add that to Kimunya's latest attempt to populate KPA board with the right DNA and you need not look far at the naivety of fueling Mombasa Republican Council's crusade to secede.

The adage you get the leaders you deserve has never been more accurate. The scoundrels we do call our leaders were not elected by aliens.

The season of accelerated fraud is here with us folks. And it will only get nasty and more intense as we close in on the election date. Brace yourselves for all shades of political posturing. NA BADO

Mungiki, Vigilantes: The Devil or Dark Blue Sea

Central province and her Diaspora in Rift Valley are under siege. The Mungiki menace has acquired hell proportions. Ask anybody affected by this murderous gang and s/he won’t mince words in supporting the vigilantes who are serving COLD REVENGE to Mungiki.

True, an eye for eye leaves the whole province blind. But wait a minute, why leaders from these affected areas so cagey and guarded about lambasting these blood suckers and machetes wielders? No prizes fro guessing. The ogre is out mauling its keeper.

The Mungiki menace is symptomatic of failed leadership. Only deceit can make one baptize it otherwise. The truth is unpleasant and most people would rather have their egos soothed with evangelistic smokescreens. Well, preachers only make a killing in times of plenty and peace.

Until we face up to the present challenges and call a spade for what it is and not an earth relocating device, we stand accused of watering the unholy trinity of HUBRIS, DECEPTION and FRAUD that aptly define our body politics.

Unholy trinity
Daily Nation’s heart rendering gory tale of a husband being asked to pay for SERVICE RENDERED by Mungiki after gang raping his wife in his presence paint a war arena. Even during war, the UN has classified rape a war crime. Mungiki must be beheaded and extinguished. Their barbarity is spine chilling. Those who propped must be brave enough and face them squarely lest central province goes to the dogs.

The vigilantes are no angels either. Their acts of revenge will and has claimed numerous innocent lives. And just like Mungiki before them, once they are done they will mutate into another monster of extortion besides skinning skulls.

Where is TRUE LEADERSHIP when a region, nay country, is really crying for one?

Daring Mungiki Now Knock Kibaki’s Door

Secure in the knowledge that Kibaki is neck-deep in the murk, daring Mungiki is confidently knocking at his door complete with threats to boot. Mungiki is not only threatening brimstone and economic shutdown of Nyeri on Sunday but also has the audacity to demand the release of their convicted leader Maina Njenga. And the murderous sect is reading from the same script with Njenga issuing threats to police from inside prison.

You don’t have to live in a banana plantation to create a banana republic. Mungiki is simply hitting hard Kibaki's soft underbelly. They know almost the whole lot of Central Kenya leaders are complicit in using them in the post election violence. Naming the cabinet has closed violent and tribal rent-seeking avenues. The industrious sect knows when to demand their pound of flesh cleverly clothed as ransom.

One thing is clear from the present Mungiki dare devil antics. Kenya’s intelligence system has been proved wanting once again. Make no mistake about the competence of NSIS staff. They remain one of the most qualified south of Sahara and north of Limpopo. The problem is sabotage from within. Kibaki packed NSIS’s top echelon with his tribesmen but disenfranchised real intelligence foot soldiers owe their loyalties elsewhere. Gichangi has serially bungled it since his appointment.

Bandit president
Having supped with Mungiki and clandestinely recruited them in the police force, Kibaki finds himself at the mercy of the monster he helped nurture. Mungiki knows all this and with police insider members you cannot fail to see why PS Gituai admitted that they were found napping. Saitoti’s predictable denial is too little too late that only succeeds in soothing his old-schooled ego.

Mungiki’s patronage runs to the apex of Kenya’s government. With an able accomplice in the deputy prime minister they won’t ask for more. We have seen the last of Mungiki yet. The splitter group that was roped in by the police to butcher Virginia Nyakio have bigger scores to settle with both rivals and government. In all this drama almost all Kikuyu MPs will have their mouths zipped lest they are exposed in their previous murderous dalliance with the sect against other Kenyans.

Kibaki set the impunity ball rolling and Mungiki is eating from the very plate. The ripple effect of election theft is one baggage Kenya will carry for quite a long long time. Yes, the truth has the unpleasantly trait of sounding like a stuck record but no matter what it fortunately never mutates. We are in this hole because of the Mungiki president and the militia is having a field days skinning Kenyans’ heads as Kibaki the perpetrator of this heinous crime sits pretty scheming on our to defraud and rape us some more.

Kenyans must be red alert about the devilish plots lurking behind these instigated violence. Assassinations are often excused as collateral for such buildup. The bottom line remain Kibaki's template for ruling Kenya is outdated. The more he tries to lord it over us the more he dives into more goofs. All these bad schemes won't last forever and Kenyans are slowly but surely reclaiming their country back from the bloody hands of the bandit president and his cronies. It is only a matter of time.
