Bloggers are in a position to really push agendas for wenyenchi and I believe some of the debates you have stated have already started right here. I suggest that Kumekucha looks at this idea seriously.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12839785.post-15343648292814799562008-03-10T07:50:00.000-07:002008-03-10T07:50:00.000-07:00Phil, you began by saying.....Last week the Kenyan...Phil, you began by saying

.....Last week the Kenyan Parliament debated the peace deal signed last week between President Mwai Kibaki's Party of National Unity (PNU) and Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Question: is your entry point factual or only me doesn't see it?Taabuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04559980653513330275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12839785.post-66912229485363774252008-03-10T07:42:00.000-07:002008-03-10T07:42:00.000-07:00Phil, ChrisI have a suggestion. We also know that views on kumekucha are widely read (1,000,000 hits is no mean feat) and also widely quoted by the other media. And we know that we cannot trust the politicians to drive the process, what with their selfish, myopic tendencies that i don't think have suddenly died.

How can we use this forum to ensure that our views, such as this one by Phil, are taken seriously by the politicians? I know most of your contributors views are that 'we already have that draft, let's implement it'. My view is that Bomas and Kilifi drafts should be assessed critically in the light of what happened post-election. Both i think are unable to address the key issues that caused the post-election mayhem.

Also, remember that the changes about to be made by parliament are may only be transitory, they are not permanent.

My suggestion is this. Kumekucha should allocate at least the next six months for debate on this forum on the critical issues e.g. land, ethnicity, citizenship, the executive powers, devolution, etc. We identify 12 critical issues, debate each issue for two weeks and then produce a memorandum that we would present to the politicians...and/or publish in the main papers. Then we would invite the other 'publics' to debate the issues as we at kumekucha go to the next item.

Just a thought.

JEFFAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12839785.post-45004937946685253452008-03-10T04:23:00.000-07:002008-03-10T04:23:00.000-07:00Insightful, incisive and refreshing, Raila is ever...Insightful, incisive and refreshing, Raila is everything Kibaki will NEVER be.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
