  2. Fare thee well KK. We loved you when you existed but extinction loved you most.

  3. Why shut it down? Let it linger on for while until the end of the year. Why the hurry? Why now?

  4. Na kwako pia. Farewell. Thank you. It's our pleasure to have known you at Kumekucha. Kwaheri.

  5. One more last question for you before the shut of Kumekucha.

Will there come a time when Kenya ever goes down in the same way events have taken place in the Ukraine?

Who is Kenya's next Yanukovich? Or is it impossible due to the usual old playing book that is filled widespread political tribalism?

Where every political issue is viewed through tribal prism rather than a nationalistic lens or patriotic end game.

Or is the type of political mess unfolding in Venezuela's so-called uprising become Kenya's fate in a couple of years from now?

  6. Chris,

    FAREWELL.
Expect to get by express mail, a $6M diamond that was unearthed in Sierra Leone, as a gift for the work well done at Kumekucha for all those years you labored without pinning your eyes on profits and whatever commercials gains that come along with hosting blogs.
    FAREWELL.

  7. Kilocho na mwanzo? ......
Can't wait for the day when FACEBOOK and other 'popular' sites will issue their farewell notices to their hundreds of millions or billion of users before August of 2020. .... Shati kiwe na mwisho. Kwaheri Kumekucha.

  8. Mwanetu,

Bidding you and Kumekucha a fond farewell. It's unfortunate that there will not be a special farewell party for the occasion this Tuesday.

Anyway, one more issue to settle or rather ask of Chris, will Kumekucha material be able to be published, broadcasted, rewritten or redistributed?

Or are the Kumekucha materials already copyrighted and all rights reserved courtesy of Chris of Kumekucha?

A million times as you - Chris and Kumekucha - stroll into sunset.

Mwanetu, kwaheri ya kuonane, otherwise what else can be said at this stage other than a mournful and real bitter goodbye, so long, bye, bye-bye, see you (later/baadaye), cheers, adieu, au revoir, ciao, adios, sayonara, bon voyage, wazulaki, etc.

Walushikuzulishizuki mende na mende, milele na milele.

  9. All Kumekucha material is copyrighted and protected, and those who have some mischief up their sleeves should remember that I read widely... very very widely.

I believe that something will have to give in the banana republic sooner or later. My prayer is that it will be as painless as possible. As to whether a Mandela/ Ms Mandela will emerge from all the mess, I have no idea but I certainly hope so, a very tribe-less Mandela who loves our country more than his/her personal bank account. Maybe they are even reading this.

  10. Chris,
Are you also going to shut down the Daily post?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just because Daily Post shamelessly copied so much from Kumekucha many people have assumed that I have some connection to it. I DON'T.

  12. So long Kumekucha, thanks for all your energy and passion of making this ungrateful country better. I wish you (and Boniface Mwangi) could have soldiered on, but hey someone has to take over and move things forward. I'm glad to have participated in this Kenya's foremost political blog. In whatever else you do, GOD BLESS.

  14. Chris,

Are you still looking for a more creative outlet than what Kumekucha may have been in the last couple of years?

Or are you just going to move on and later vanish like thin dust blown far away by the seasonal winds that flow in and out of Menengai Crater and Longonot?

Before you sail away, would you improvise a journalistic character that sums up who Chris of Kumekucha has really been, or would have loved to be perceived?

By the way, never-ever-ever forget to take three weeks in a year in order to visit and tour a country you have never been to in your life.

And while at it, always remember to stay far away from familiar seductive locations like Saldanha, Cape Town, Mosselbani, Port Elizabeth, East London, Port Shepstone (Jabel-Kondo), Durban, Richards Bay, Maputo, Xai-Xai, Inhambane, Beira, Angoche, Lumbo, and Pemba (Mozambique) not Pemba (Tanzania).

Keep up your sense humour and allow others - friend and foes - to always laugh with you rather than at you, in a 'kizualazuala' style.

Live to the beat of your own drumbeat, to the fullest potential and just keep living and love what life throws at you.

  15. ATTENTION: Chris of Kumekucha.

Just finished a 4th viewing of Killing the Messenger: The Deadly Cost of News.

Which highlights why and how Murder is the leading cause of journalists' deaths worldwide; journalists reporting from conflict zones tell their personal stories of kidnapping, intimidation and beatings.

Despite our usual dismissive attitude toward the fact that our very own investigative journalists, bloggers, TV and radio journalists, and others who dare raise sensitive issues affecting the general public and the country, have become targets of what seems to be random violence, harassment, assault, robberies, burglaries, rape, constant surveillance, rape, threats, intimidation, organized blackmail, calculated extortion, etc.

Have you, Chris of Kumekucha, more often than not been the victim of the aforementioned in the last decade?

Hence one of the many reasons why you have finally, if not painfully, decided to bid farewell to the public as well as issue Kumekucha Final Shut Down... at 12 noon Kenyan time Tuesday 25th Feb 2014.

Unfortunately, it's not a secret that intimidations or harassments follows journalists, bloggers, civil society activists, political activists, and concerned private citizens wherever they are and in whatever they do or attempt to expose due to one reason or another for the sake of information, accountability and public interest.

Sadly, journalists and editors with special political affiliation or patronization are the ones who thrive because a guaranteed protection as long as they do not dare attempt to upset many of the high profile banana carts within corrosive corridors of powers.

Chris, your resourcefulness, creativity, persistency, courage, selflessness, sticking your neck out where it mattered most, commitment to keeping the public informed on a variety of issues in the last decade, among other things will be missed to a great extent.

    Farewell na wewe pia. Thanks-a-million.

  16. Thank you for the kind words.

You will understand that in the past this is the kind of documentary I would have wanted to avoid for obvious reasons. But I guess now I will have to look for it.

  19. Chris, are you a coward? You proudly proclaim Kukekucha is the oldest political blog in Kenya and then you are shutting it down?
Have you had a phrase "good fight of faith"? Well, it literally means to keep fighting even when all the odds are against you and everything else around you is falling apart.

Are you not proud of your legacy? If this was a Jewish man he would have left this blog for his son and then generations to come.
Why do you think Jews control much of world's wealth? They learnt long time ago about generational blessings/name, something Chris you can learn from.
Nearly all the banks in the world are owned by Jews, same as many world's daily newspapers.

Chris, I would have loved to read this blog in my ripe old age (I am in still in my prime btw). That's what we call leaving a name for yourself.
But then again you are a Kamba.

If I were you I would break off all limitations and go where no man has ever gone by keeping this blog ALIVE and vibrant for many years to come.

Anyway, wish you well whatever you choose to do.

  20. I wish Chris stayed on and rebrand this blog and start warning Kenyan women on the dangers of getting involved with Nigerian and Congolese men.

  21. Chris, why don't revive Kumekucha and give it a second a chance for another two to three?

  22. Chris, we miss you. This country needed you more than ever before, but I guess the lords of impunity are too strong.
