Visa Ban And Drug Barons in Government

Kenyans are a very disgusting lot. They really don’t care about the most important question one needs to urgently ask whenever they come across somebody who seems to have cash literally coming out of their ears. And that critical question is; where did the money come from?
Just show Kenyans the cash and you are a hero, no questions asked. But personally I would go as far as questioning even cash that floods in for so-called good causes. Charity Kaluki Ngilu announced her bid for the presidency in 1997 looking “all money” complete with a brand new seductive dress that was a tad too short but must have cost a bomb. It was all for a good cause. After years of the Moi regime we wanted to get rid of him pronto and for a brief moment it looked like maybe a woman could break the tribal barriers and unite enough opposition votes to remove Moi and KANU from power. What followed was one of the best financed presidential campaigns ever seen in Kenya. Very few stopped to ask the crucial question, where did all that money come from? Had Ngilu won those rigged presidential elections, this question would have become even more critical and so in many ways it is just as well that she did not win and the only thing she emerged with was the distinction of being the first woman in Kenya to run for the presidency. In retrospect this was hardly surprising coming from a tribe that has had a long history of being led by women (but then that is a post for another day.)

As a matter of interest that Ngilu cash came from some very deep pockets in the United States of America with an agenda in Kenya. The same gentlemen that former Kanu secretary general Joseph Kamotho bluntly addressed in the press and told; this is NOT the Philippines. Many puzzled Kenyans were wondering what the hell the balding guy was talking about. I am told that once upon a time the CIA helped install a woman president in the Philippines and one of the key tools that helped them change the course of the political river that led to the win of Corazon Aquino was wads of cash. Yet another fascinating story for another day.

But I digress too much because today I address the issue of drug barons in Kenyan politics. This is probably one of the most dangerous subjects to write about in Kenya. I know because I have had my life threatened and have even had to run. Make no mistake about it, these drug folks are well organized and their cash opens all doors for them. There is hardly a place to hide when they have identified you as “a problem”. Even an anonymous blogger like myself can suddenly find that they are pretty exposed (as I found out the hard way).

In naming one of the drug barons I know in government let me tell you a short story. In the run up to the 2007 general elections I was fully behind ODM and its’ presidential candidate Raila Odinga. I am NOT a Luo but like many Kenyans I was seduced by the ODM rhetoric and I was yearning for change. Cynical and hard to convince as I am, I found myself in the place where I was sure that ODM would bring about the desired change we vadly needed in Kenya. And that is the reason why I was deeply shocked and hurt when I later heard that the ODM presidential candidate had offered Mr John Harun Mwau a full cabinet seat in his half of the coalition government. Mwau, the story goes, turned it down because of his frequent Business trips out of the country and accepted the less busy docket of an assistant minister. Knowing the character of the man I cringed at this news. Imagine a drug baron as a full cabinet minister carrying a diplomatic passport and all? I was later told by some ODM die-hard that “the captain” did not have a choice because the man gave ODM a lot of cash for the presidential campaign. That did not wash with me. So what if he financed the ODM presidential campaign? Why was he allowed to in the first place by a candidate looking for change in Kenya?

I have written several posts in this blog about this man (you can read this one) and so I don’t want to repeat myself. The bottom line is that Mwau was a sharpshooter working with the Kenya police and climbed up to the rank of acting Inspector of police. And he was not one of the more disciplined officers because he insisted on keeping his beard and had to get a letter from some doctor proving that shaving his beard would be a risk to his health. When Mr Mwau left the police force in some very controversial circumstances he suddenly became a very rich man. Journalists have often asked him how he made his money and he has always waived his hand and said it was from business and quickly hurried on to the next point. One journalist pressed the question and asked what business exactly he was doing. Mwau replied that he was importing electronics. Mwau in a thinly veiled threat told journalists to be careful with him. Apart from being a scary character to journalists seeking information, Mwau has always been pretty generous with reporters. Let me just leave it at that. And so journalists have learnt not to ask Mr Mwau certain questions and even more important not to dig too deeply into how he acquired his stupendous wealth.

All over the world former policemen are rarely considered to be overly intelligent, if anything many jokes are traded about the lack of intelligence of policemen. However in Mr Mwau’s case there is evidence to prove that he is an extremely intelligent man. In a land mark case challenging the election of Moi as President in 1992 (in an election where Mwau also stood for president), he opted to represent himself and ended up impressing many lawyers and even judges (although he did not win the case). Many thought his performance was better than what many trained lawyers would have achieved. When this kind of man is let loose in a country like Kenya for so many years unchecked the result is that he becomes part of the very fabric of the nation so that touching him may have a major impact right across the entire economy of the nation.

For instance there are allegations supported by enough documentation and evidence that the well-respected Nakumatt chain of supermarkets had its’ early days financed by money launderers. Money laundering and the drug business are inseparable twins joined at the hip and the heart. Read this Kumekucha story for details.

(To be continued)

Late Extra...

Judging from some of the comments this post has provoked I felt that a comment made by a reader from one of my earlier articles in Kumekucha about the drugs trade would be appropriate to put things in perspective. I reproduce it below;

I got a Kenyan boyfriend the other day and I have been trying to familliarize myself with his home country. Having come across this blog I can't help but wonder about how simple life is in that part of the world. As a police officer in Miami I have to say that narcotic drugs activites are no joke, I can tell you stories that would make it difficult for you to sleep at night. It seems like you guys want to destroy your country by creating the impression that narcotic drugs are a business that can create abundant wealth.

  1. Why is it so hard to post a comment to this post? Have the drug barons paid some computer geeks or what?

Amazing post Chris. Just amazing. I hope you are not in Kenya at the moment.

  2. Why would this Govt of Kibaki and Raila allow well known drug barons in their midst instead of having them locked up inside Kamiti? It's no news that Kibaki and Raila's Govt is packed with drug Lords, corrupt (thieves really) ministers behind Anglo Fleecing and Goldenberg and some characters of interest to Louis Moreno Ocampo who were behind the 2007 genocide in Kenya. This topic inevitably sends us back to the sad story about the infamous Artur Brothers and Rwandese Felicien Kabuga who is known to own lots of properties in Kenya including a fleet of luxurious buses although he's a wanted man behind 1 million deaths of innocent Rwandese women and children. I'm also told there are very many devil worshippers from Bunge to Cabinet, so one wonders where the future really lies with poor souls called Kenyans. So we have drug dealers in positions of power who are receiving salaries from us taxes? Stale news, that an open secret! If Rannenberger can't name them, he should simply shut his mouth. These barons have no intention of ever going to US to invest or relax when they can simply use private jets to go soak in the warm Seychelles' sun. Why would someone like Raila entertain drug barons despite wanting us to elect him in 2012? Some things never cease to amaze me! I would like to know, or read the wealth list declared by the likes of Mwau, Kabogo, Ali Hassan Joho, Mike Sonko,Biwott etc....and how that wealth was acquired!

  6. There is always some spin doctoring whenever things go pear shaped for this illegal Govt. We are now being told that it's the Govt that took the initiative to report these four drug barons/money launderers! It's like having a wife who is sleeping around with every Tom, Dick and Harry and instead of you, as the husband taking strong action, you go crying while telling the whole community that your wife is cheating on you! The Americans must really hate our guts and are possibly calling us in hushed tones "stupid Africans" since we can't clean our own mess.

The four who have been SLAPPED WITH VISA BANS are described as an assistant minister, a recently elected MP, another MP from Coast province and one from Central province.

The fifth individual is a Mombasa based businessman with interests in other parts of the country and a brother to one of the banned individual!

Hehehe..u must really be naive not to know these guys!

  7. ehehehe, ahahha, ati Americans banning Kenyans for selling drugs?

The thing is this. Without drug trade, the global trade would collapse.

    Here this:

"The bank [WACHOVIA], now a unit of Wells Fargo, leads a list of firms that have moved dirty money for Mexico’s narcotics cartels--helping a $39 BILLION trade that has KILLED more than 22,000 people since 2006."

    Source: Wachovia's Drug Habit @

    http://is.gd/hlaTO

    NB: Who controls Wells Fargo?

    Read for yourself here:

    http://is.gd/hlbnu

In simple words, drug trade is a KEY PILLAR of the American led international financial system.

This being the case, discussing drugs issue is a non - starter for there is nothing we can do about it at this time in human history.

The only solution is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. This means an end to the bull shit idea of government do this and that.

You do not believe it? Hear a former CIA Director speak:

"The Latin American drug cartels have stretched their tentacles much deeper into our lives than most people believe. It's possible they are calling the shots at ALL LEVELS of government."

    - William Colby, former CIA Director, 1995

    xxxx

    More so, sample this:

    (a) A former head of the New York Stock Exchange having meeting with Colombian drug lords. In that meeting, he is reported to have told them this:

"I invite members of the FARC to visit the New York Stock Exchange so that they can get to know the market personally,"

    Source: http://is.gd/hl8D8

    (b) What about this?

    http://is.gd/hl9pk

    (c) And, this?

    http://is.gd/hl9wP

Anyway, some mursik and popcorn will be appreciated.

  8. More so, it is crucial for the masses to understand the sociology of FAKE "WAR ON DRUGS."

When so called governments ban drugs, they do it for two reasons:

    (a) firstly, when a drug is banned, its price goes up.

    This means two things:

    (i) more profits and POWER (don't they fund politicians?) for the controllers of global drug trade, and

(ii) mopping money from the poor communities. As prices rise, those who use drugs will have to spend more of their cash on drugs which dries money from poor communities and therby, making them even poorer.

NB: If one wants to appreciate this fact fully, one has no choice, but, to be conversant with Chinese Opium Trade which happend in "ancient times" which modern man/woman has no time for as some do not tire to remind us here.

    (b) since the drugs are banned, those allowed to push them, must play by the SET rules.

NB: This calls for an understanding the relationship between drugs and COVERT OPERATIONS in 3rd world. Another ancient history you know which we have no time for in these busy days.

If they start getting BIG HEADED, they are exposed for two things:

    (a)tax evasion, and, or
    (b) drug running.

NB: Remember Noriega, Nakumatta saga and a ka - bank saga?

This way, the real managers keep FIRM control of the trade by manipulating the emotions of the masses to support FAKE WARS ON DRUGS (off course, using the masses taxes) who have no clue how the game is played.

In other words, these guys are very smart and they have over 200 years of experience of drug trade.

In this sense, the FAKE "war on drugs" must be understood in the above sense and not the way many perceive it.

Anyway, good luck guys in your wars on drugs, corruption and any other war that you may wish to declare in your delusions.

On our part, we will only be requesting for more mursik and popcorn as we enjoy the folly.

But think about the US and the Iraq occupation - as per the leaked documents, USA committed alot of war crimes against the Iraqis. Will there ever be justice for the Iraqis?

The US then charges Victor Bout for arms trafficking. The paradox is that Bout also used to sell arms to the US during the Iraq occupation....

  28. It is rather obvious where all the defensive comments here are coming from.

My legal position is that I have named one person in the main post and I have substantial proof to support my post in any court of law in any country in the world.

Having said that the comments area of this blog has quite often in the past carried very negative and untrue statements about the owner of this blog (even in this current post). I have not deleted them or shut down comments and so it would not make much sense for me to delete comments from readers who are throwing in more names of suspected drug barons in government. Especially when most of those comments are fairly accurate and concur with the reports and documents I have seen. This is the Internet and I suggest that those annonymous bloggers writing all manner of threatening comments here look at comments to other stories from different media all over the web. Then they will begin to understand what I mean when I say this is the Internet.

Besides when one chooses to be a public servant they open up their lives to scrutiny, like the kind going on in this blog.

    Kumekucha Chris
P.S. Those out to defend certain individuals can start by answering one simple question; what kind of hard work (versus the rest of Kenyan's idleness) enabled the said individuals to make so much money in such a short time? We know how Bill Gates made his money and we certainly know how Sergey Brin and Larry Page (co-founders of Google) made their fortune. Now how did the said characters make their money? Electronics? We have the list of the top electronics importers in Kenya and the said folks are missing from the said lists. Let's get serious about this because I will soon start writing stories here about the damage the drugs business has done to numerous young Kenyans which would quickly cancel any imagined "good" the drugs cash has done.

Finally my life has been threatened before and it doesn't worry me anymore, so don't imagine for a minute I will lose sleep over that, whether or not you know my true identity as you claim. Bring it on!! The era and error of impunity is over in Kenya and what little that is left are kicks of a very dead horse.

Bwana Philip, it is too late now to do much now cos when Kenyans had a chance to change the course, they chose to do otherwise.

As concerns American so called food exports, Thomas Sankara is better suited to answer this query for he was able to implement his ideas on food.

We believe in PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. By this we mean, the GOK SHOULD HAVE NO ROLE in so called drug wars.

In other words, we OBJECT to any WEALTH CONSFICATION of Wanjiku who must walk to work for lack of matatu fare by crooks calling themselves GOK in their so called war on drugs.

Let FREE MEN and WOMEN make the decision to use or not use drugs.

People who believe their governments should protect them from their own irresponsibility and lack of courage, are SLAVES.

I hate to admit the fact that a successful life is built by developing the spirit, not the body, and time and matter must always give way to the eternal and to the spiritual, whether we humans like it or not. Ndio!!! Tupende tusipende.

Unfortunately, illegal drugs and the highly sophisticated trade of drug dealing have invaded the islands of Lamu, Malindi, Mombasa and many parts of the coastal area to the point where so many lives, families, homes, careers, businesses and traditional - religious - way of life have been ruptured beyond repair.

There has been an increase in the presence of our distant Spanish speaking black cousins - the foot soldiers from Oronoco - in and around the coastal region. I guess they may be watching out for the overall interests of their untouchable lieutenants.

The area is now dotted with several little spanish speaking enclaves, "Little Bogota" that are very much different from not Pagodas.

    @Kumekucha,
On colluding and corruption, you forget to mention one well known Italian missioanry - name and local community withheld - who used to enter government offices, the Forodha House in Mombasa and Nairobi, freight terminal at Embakasi, KPA, the one time notorious "Long Room" - a den of off-futy customs officers and clearing agents - located some where near the old time Castle Hotel.

He was well liked and known to carry a briefcase full of money, as in bundles of five-hundred-shilling-notes -Kamanyolas- with Mzee Moi's face on them.

Padre's excuse - "slogan" - was always happy are they who get good business in the name of the Lord, as long as no body gets hurt and everybody remains cheerful.

I have nothing personal against him, but the number of construction projects that were unrelated to his community's missionary endeavors speak volumes.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, let me get back to the weekend clutter that has yet to be dented before it's too late.

One of the oldest 'professions' that I alluded to was the judicial one, and not the other one born of human necessity.

Hence the ancient fear of having the 'book thrown at you' due to inadequate counsel.

  51. Seems like someone has real / imaginary beef with me. Blaming me for your misfortunes and trying real hard, and -I- mean-real-HARD! to potray me as "psychotic" through character assasination just won't cut it.

The only suspect that comes to mind is the "N" master - Yes you, am alluding to you. So I will just read the "cries" idly and just turn over and continue sleeping.

As PLO would say .."There is no need to respond to a mosquito bite with a hammer"

That is uncalled for, don't become like mwarangethe who labelled as with the "N" word once. A little maturity from you would do.

Even Mwarangethe is reforming, he seldom uses Sumer, Idiot, Stupid, Where did you learn that ? And of late has dropped Popcorn and Gold.

But will continue to use useless paper (read $), and abbreviated links, deride the west and still relish in their comfort and ofcourse western references in all world evil.

No, no, people are leaving the USELESS PAPER. The evidence is from the US Mint. Check the sale of silver here:

    http://is.gd/hrF1N

NB: Mr Oracle, does the CBK or the GOK have a mint where we can buy silver or gold?

Or, they just print WORTHLESS PAPERS to buy OTHER WORTHLESS PAPERS they call SHARES and BONDS?

    XXX

While we discuss our endless "wars" on corruption, drugs and such other delusions, the Chinese Govt. is advising its citizens to buy silver:

There, u can see what our FUTURE MASTERS are doing as we talk RUBBISH about the number of mps, etc.

You can also see how their "professors" might be "teaching" in AD 2030.

Just remove word USA and put KENYA and the scenario will be the same:

  64. Chris(kumekucha) is a junkie.I was so concerned if a normal person will spend or waste all his time in writing propaganda and creating rumours about people who have made it in life.infact I have found some interesting details about him.Chris(not his true name),who happens to be the administarator of this blog was born out of incest.I have found that the fellow's parents are actually brother and sister.According to the customs of his tribe,he was supposed to die,but instead the grandfather chose to curse his parents;father and father who also double up as uncle and aunt.I think this is the cause of all this confusion in his life. The oracle says that he will die poor.He will spend all his life writing gossip as other people continue progressing.Chris,go to church, style up and be serious.hizi bangi unavuta uwache.am personally willing to bring you to our church.
