Hague Express: Heat is on, Goalposts Shifting

Parliament has been reigning supreme. They demanded Ringera's head and they got the Judge's scalp. MPs demanded The Hague. They reminded all and sundry not to be vague but instead choose The Hague. Well, prayer answered and so Hague here we come. But not just yet, we will board that jalopy to Netherlands at our own pace.

Obama can eat his heart and take care not to suffer constipation. Hit kite won’t fly and the balloon sent to us in the name of Kofi Annan is at the mercy of our sharp pins. It is such a huge shame for a whoole ex-UN boss to shamelessly stoop so low to an extent of criticizing our president on his EXECUTIVE appointments.

It is the height of pettiness for Annan to globalize our tribal governance. He needs to understand that Kenya is for Kenyans and only we can change at our own pace. The impressive report of 90% pass warrants appreciation. The accelerated judicial reforms will render Luis Moreno-Ocampo jobless and all his hitherto bravado will be irrelevant at best and hot air at worst.

Kofi Annan must have met a very different Martha Karua from the one he dealt with just a year ago. He can as well use that single sample to generalize our collective national propensity to deceit. The boot is in the other boot which reminds you of yesterday reform champions turned present day masters of impunity - it is our time to eat.

We are so dynamic as a country we change the goalposts as appropriate. Those who have been shouting themselves hoarse about The Hague are now staring the real prospect of joining Charles Taylor sooner than they imagined.

One wonders who the members of this so-called international community are. That red herring can paint itself all the rainbow colours but remain rest assured that Kenya will not give an inch, not even with Michael Renneberger’s loudmouthed gimmicks.

Babysitting octogenarians
We are so unique and enterprising as a country so much so that we can have IDPs parking four wheel SUVs outside their tents. To us every calamity is an opportunity and we need no MBA from Harvard to exploit an opportunity when we see one.

Our country remains an island of peace in a sea of chaos and those who think otherwise are living in DENIAL PARADISE. Nothing exemplifies our fledging democracy than the fractious coalition trading accusations. Who said the Permanent Committee on the Management of the Grand Coalition cannot reconvene after the Kilaguni fiasco?

Annan came and he will soon leave after the four-day holiday. Ocampo will follow and he too will leave. Meanwhile Kenya remains where they found it. We embarked on project Armageddon in 2007 which must be completed in 2012. We need total extermination so that Kenya can regenerate a fresh.

All other efforts amount to nothing but ego expansion gimmicks. Annan can not re-invent the wheel neither can he go against established natural order by attempting to babysit octogenarians.

Put simple, nobody is going to The Hague anytime soon. Let Annan ask Omar El Bashir.

  8. Raila's support of the 90% government achievement in bringing reform is a sign that he has mutated into something I really don't know but I know it might look like what Kibaki, Moi and Kenyatta possess.

I have admired the guy but since the day that he attacked the media for publishing fake stories about the government I started seeing telltale signs that he might not be what we Kenyans want, afterall did we all knew we made a wise decision when we voted Kibaki in 2002, only to be proven wrong later?

Though Kibaki slightly improved Kenya for that 5 years than around 8 previous years that Moi ran the country, the improvement was not worthwhile as it only led to the rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer.

Like Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki I see Raila can also become worse once his powers are threatened - once he sees someone wants to take over his powers or the public mood is against him such that he might loose in election.

If what the guy is doing will go on then I'm seeing soon the likes of Kibaki and Moi will sit down in their couch and give a sigh of relief since all options that will be there running for presidency will not fight them.

You and I know that issues of Mau land brought Moi out of his comfortable cacoon in Kabarak to start indulging in active politics again. You and I know well that issues of insecurity, food shortage etc will never touch the raw nerves of the old man, but be serious and raise issues of Goldenberg and Ndungu report and you will get surprise what the old man can do. Infact I tend to think that the old man knew before us back in 2002 that Kibaki was not going to touch him at all.

Now it seems Raila is slowly being sucked into the same web. Now who do you think cannot be sucked into the same web if self proclaimed "Born Again" christian like Aaron Ringeera wasn't?

This is the reason we want, among other things, constitutional reform. Some may argue that we already have a good constitution the problem being that we don't follow it, however the reason it is not followed is because of major flaws it possess, and these are the flaws that needs to be treated, though I highly doubt if the politicians we have will do that treatment, have some of them already started to frustrate the pursuit towards a new constitution?

I repeat again that we should all stop our "pride of sovereignty" and support external pressure to our leaders. The reason is because the battle has become between we the people of Kenya Vs Our politician. Yet we the people of Kenya don't have any leader to lead us or resource to fight our politicians.

The reason we also want police reform is not only to reduce crime but also to discourage policemen from being misused by our politician. The policemen are what I can call "the wananchis who have been blinded by the system" so that when we want to demonstrate they will forget or be intimidated to fight against us, and in most cases we as the people of Kenya have always failed.

Therefore let our politicians not deceive us again because the external pressure is not against us Kenyans but against our politicians. If you think whatever they have done to us is good, and if you think they don't need improvement, then I think you have a reason is be against the likes of Annan and Ocampo.

    Our comment:

South Africa enacted a very progressive constitution in 1994. However, since then, the gap between the rich (Whites) and the majority poor (Blacks) has widened.

The question we put to you is this. Is there a possibility that even if we have a new constitution the question of inequality will still be there as we have in South African case? And, if there is that possibility, doesn't it follow that the cause of conflict will still be there?

    Our Comment:

As concerns so called Ndungu report, it is just a red herring meant to keep Kenyan masses talking over nothing.

Ndungu being a lawyer knows or should know that legal repossession of land in Kenya is utterly impossible.

Simply, to implement Ndungu report is to invite anarchy in Kenya, for those allocated by Moi will claim we must go back to 1963, and even beyond. This will be another Zimbambwe in the making.

Even South Africa is realising that repossesing land as promised in 1994 will take 96 years. It is impossible.

Seen this way, Ndungu report was just a diversionary trick played on gullible Kenyans.
