Famine Top Excuse, Mau and TJRC Dead

Just when the noose was tightening around the cabinet following their contemptuous decision to force TJRC down the throats of Kenyans, they have just up gradated the debilitating famine to a convenient emergency. Our smart political Alecs never suffers the dearth of creative ideas to disguise challenges before them.

With donors not buying the TJRC facade and promising no funding, the kite lost both wings before leaving the ground. Forget all the balderdash that we finance our national budget. That phantom declaration is principally aimed to create a sense of false pride among Kenyans as the looters go on a spree emptying our national coffers and auctioning Kenya to Libyans.

Look at Mau and the dirty tricks involved. While one side of the administration is left to do the heavy lifting, the other consorts with the same MPs hell bent on reaping maximum political capital at the expense of conservation. Inciting Mau peasants is easy for politicians who in real sense are protecting their own selfish interests at our national expense.

Raila may have just been unwittingly handed the velvet political noose. The Jewish folklore of fattening a lamb before sacrificing it has never been so prophetic. The Mau crisis was one that was started with the singular purpose of not solving it.

24-hour courts
You don’t expect Moi and Kinuthia Mbugua to vacate their large farms guarded by GSU just like that. Kenya has its owners. The parameters for dealing with the Kenyan masses and the masters are different as day and night.

The Cabinet must be smiling from ear to ear for the godsend DISCOVERY of famine that will soon make all of us forget any traces of impunity. Meanwhile the pests continue sucking our last drop of blood as they grandiose paper proposals. After the 24-hour economy now comes grandiose 24-hour court sessions. What next? NA BADO.

  3. Very well put Taabu,

The Mau crisis was one that was started with the singular purpose of not solving it.

Forget all the balderdash from Kibaki and his loyalists that we finance our national budget. That phantom declaration is principally aimed to create a FALSE SENSE OF PRIDE among Kenyans as the looters go on a spree emptying our national coffers and auctioning Kenya to Libyans.

Look at the Mau and the dirty tricks involved. While one side of the administration - Raila and Co - is left to do the heavy lifting, the other - Mwai "pumbavu" Kibaki and Co - consorts with the very same MPs hell bent on reaping maximum political capital at the expense of the national interest of Kenya.

Inciting Mau peasants - as akina Ruto and the rest are doing - is easy for politicians who in real sense are protecting their own selfish interests at our national expense.

About Mwai "pumbavu" Kibaki: He STOLE his way back to the presidency. What is he doing with it? He is not providing any leadership at all!! All he does at best is to be mischievious, as he is doing right now consorting with the very land grabbers of the Mau forest - the Isaac Rutto's and gang. You will also notice that the creator, architect and engineer of the Mau forest disaster, Daniel "Kleptocrat" arap Moi, has now started "commenting" with a holier than thou attitude about the Mau. This country of ours resembles a shit hole.

Lack of DECISIVE forward looking leadership from Kibaki, This is the major reason why Kenya is having so many "quagmires" and "messes" all over the place - a theater of the absurd.

  4. Taabu,
The Kalenjins are not against the need to conserve the Mau Complex. They are against the betrayal this man called Raila has come to represent. During his presidential campaigns, Raila promised the community among other things the following three things.

First, he promised to help the Kalenjins get their lands back from the Kikuyus by all means necessary. A lot of blood was shed in that effort immediately after the elections. As a result Raila got the PM position, but unfortunately the Kalenjins didn't get their lands back and Raila has gone silent toward that goal. Instead, Raila is busy campaigning for those in the Waki list to be tried knowing very well that a disproportionate number of those in the list come from the community. He has become the dog that eats its own puppies.

Second, Raila promised to re-employ the daughters and sons of the community that had been sacked from the civil service by Kibaki during his first term. So far majority of the prime civil service openings going to ODM side have gone to the Luos including Raila's close relatives. Even a greedy hunter throws matumbo to his dogs, not to reward them, but at least to keep them alive for the next hunt.

Third, this Mau saga is of Raila's making. During the 2007 election campaigns, Raila held rally after rally promising that when he comes to power the Mau settlers would stay put and nobody would touch them. Nobody asked him to promise that; he was merely motivated by his greed for the community's votes and the presidential power that he hoped to get. Immediately he became PM he went back on that promise, and didn't see the need to consult the people he had promised. Were it not for the Kalenjin MPs who raised the alarm, the settlers would have been out of the Mau by Raila's deadline of Oct 2008 without compensation. In the mind of the Kalenjins the issue is not about the conservation of Mau (which they recognize as good for everyody), the issue is about the integrity of Raila's word especially after he spent a lot od energy portraying Kibaki as a liar and an enemy of the Kalenjin people.

Raila has turned out to be the worst political conman who is intoxicated with the trapping of power. By intimidating and bullying the community's elected leaders, Raila has choosen to go to war with the community. He may use his executive power to win a few battles, but nobody should doubt the ultimate outcome of this political war.

It is no longer about the civil service jobs or the conservation of the Mau Forest. It has become an existential political struggle between Raila Amolo Odinga and the Kalenjin community.

  5. well put anon 1:41,
let Taabu and his ODMorons continue the dog like whins to please their masters holding them tightly by the leash. a daily dose of camouflaged lies peddled here by one Taabu with his eyes trained on the bi-weekly cheque from his sponsors will never turn into truth. To Taabu, selling his writing skills to the highest binder has been the story of his life. Raila as usual has a knack of messing up everything he touches and Mau is just a footnote into a long list of political blunders that this ugly man has incubated. let the raila's kumekucha spin doctor aka Taabu continue earning his dirty money...after all the buck is always green.
Chris can continue looking the other way as long as the cheque clears at the end of the month.

    Our response:

You should be ashamed of yourself. The govt. ought to lean on Kalenjins and not the other way round.

A few months ago, there was a report of pineapples rotting in Bureti. If you guys know what you are doing, you should be asking your so called leaders to invest the billions they have in such ventures so as to create jobs for the local people.

It seems to us that, this dependency mentality, which assumes that the state/govt. is the provider is the source of our problems.

The money in the hands of Kalenjin elite is enough to turn around the Kenyan economy. So, abandon this funny idea that Kalenjins needs to be civil sufferers, or no, civil servants and you will control any govt. that comes into power.

  7. Jane of Nakuru @ 2:29 AM,

You are just too amusing. You are living a big fat lie!

    You allege, among other things:

"Raila as usual has a knack of messing up everything he touches and Mau is just a footnote into a long list of his political blunders"

Jane of Nakuru, to you it seems that 1 + 1 is equal to 16! Get your mathematics (thinking and reasoning) right. 1 + 1 is always equal to 2 and never 16.

I will not be surprised if soon you tell us that Raila is the cause of all the problems in Kenya, you may even claim that he is the one who grabbed the whole of Mau forest, caused its destruction and forced, you call him a dictator, the Kalenjin political elite to grab what he had grabbed. PHEW!!

Bring another outlandish fable, Jane of Nakuru. We are waiting to be entertained.

  8. Jane of Nakuru @ 2:29 AM,

You sound like someone who is connected to the Mau grabbers via either blood relation, marriage or some "economic" connection; that is why you are so annoyed with Raila.

Jane of Nakuru @ 2:29 AM, It is wrong to support Mau forest grabbers (criminals). Such kind of behavior is what has pulled Kenya down into the league of failed states.

  10. Mau is critical and Taabu and Kumekucha are doing okay to keep it alive.

Conservation is a pragmatic choice and even when we evict those in Mau, the Kalenjins to a large extent will be neighbours to the water tower. That in itself should make us think. If we will have Participatory Forest Management, which is how the Abedares Forest recovered, then the goodwill and participation of Kalenjin is critical.
By Kalenjin, I mean the genuine settlers not the speculators on TV daily. The Prime Minister has support of the majority of Kenyans to rehabilitate the watchtower.Unfortunately politics being what it is, Raila promised certain powerful Kalenjins that the Mau issue will be dealt favourably to them and that is a debt he will have to pay.

Taabu as usual sees "devil" Kibaki everywhere. In our society, Taabu remeinds me of the immediate former PCEA head, Rev. Githii who used to see devil everywhere from window panes to bicycle spokes.

What I have a problem with is Taabu & Co treatment of Raila like some 10 year old who is always being conned, bullyed and humiliated. If Agwambo is as intelligent and benevolent as Taabu paints him to be, he would not be in the Mau quagmire right now. he promised what he could not deliver and the chickens have come home to roost. Let him pay the price, we will give him an alternate vote in Central Kenya.

  14. The 'principals' must be having a field day. When their proposals for a local tribunal were strongly opposed, they switched tactic and went ahead to create a TJRC. Now that they have done that, everyone (including Imanyara, the No. 1 Hague proponent) is back crying for a local tribunal. Right back to what the 'principals' wanted from the start! Very clever.

Thanks Pal and you don't have to choke on your hate for Raila and all the other tribes in Kenya..

Ofcourse you are the kind who still think kikuyu's are superior to other tribes in Kenya

so let me correct you.. Raila won the 2007 elections hands down without the central province kikuyu vote!!get that straight and he does not need the central province vote to win the vote to statehouse again.. this time the new constitution will be n place -so that your Othaya, thieving, murderer and his Uhuru mavi cronies won't get the chance to steal in broad daylight and sworn in at night,,

yes kenyans are aware the Youth initiative by KIBAKI GROUP LEAD BY Jimmy Kibaki, Tony Gachoka and the RiftValley director chosen by Ruto while the Kamba director hand picked by Kalonzo Musyoka e.t.c

    We all
is the new deal copy YKA,, Kenyans are not fooled by the money these group of Jimmy Kibaki is looting from the youth funds with the help of Canadian NGO's Like Enablis(dangerous connections ) if you as questions you die)

yes Raila does not need the central province vote to be the president of Kenya - he won 2007 elections without it!!
