Why Ruto Must Go

William "NSSF plots" Ruto, the current minister of agriculture and ODM kingpin.

How times change.

The other day it was Kimunya and now the troubles of agriculture Minister William Ruto are mounting even as some parliamentarians led by Ikolomani MP Bonny Khalwale are preparing a censure motion against him in parliament. You will remember that the last censure motion caused one Amos Kimunya to reluctantly let go of a job that he had began to view almost as a birthright.

Actually it amazes me why it has taken so long for somebody to come up with the idea of sending Ruto home. The agriculture ministry made a very bad move that will result in over 10 million Kenyans being faced with starvation. Whether Ruto was personally involved or not, he must surely take responsibility for what went on in his turf (how can he not?). Who else can be held responsible other than him? Fascinatingly this is the gist of what Assistant Finance Minister Oburru Odinga has said. It also suggests that this is the position of the Prime Minister which seems to have been further confirmed by the fact that he has ordered an audit by a foreign firm on the goings on in the national cereals Board to cover the period from July last year to date. Some political analysts say that the PM will not be sad when Ruto goes. But that is besides the point. The issue here is that Amos Kimunya stepped aside to facilitate investigations into the Grand Regency saga last year, albeit under considerable pressure. So why should Ruto be treated any different?
-------------------------00000000000
Kumekucha titbits: Even if your computer, or storage device, suddenly crashes with vital information, did you know that world class hard drive recovery in Kenya exists?
============================

What Kimunya did was bad but what Ruto is alleged to have done is tragically terrible, because it will result in a few Kenyans dying the most terrible death—by starvation.

For those still in the dark over what the maize scandal is all about, let me explain. The Agricultural ministry authorized the Cereals Board to sell maize to brokers who in turn sold it to millers at inflated prices thus creating both a shortage and also causing the prices of maize flour (a critical staple for Kenyans) to suddenly skyrocket. Ordinarily the Cereals board should have just sold the commodity directly to millers, as it is the transaction was such that in many cases the millers ended up collecting the maize themselves from the Cereals board but after paying an inflated price for it to middle-men who added no value whatsoever and seemed to have been introduced as a way for somebody to make a lot of money from the transaction at the cost of ordinary Kenyans.

Sources have mentioned two names to me of people who were the main architects behind the maize scum. They are Cyrus Jirongo and Ababu Nwamamba. Little wonder that the latter used brilliant diversionary tactics of introducing other prominent names to divert attention away from Mr Ruto, probably fearing that too close a scrutiny of the scandal would lead to the unearthing of his own name.

Ruto must now resign to pave way for serious investigations into this maize scandal. I am afraid there is really no other option here.

Interestingly, looking into Ruto’s past, the man made a lot of money being allocated and then selling off public property in broker deals fairly similar to what went on at the Cereals Board.

So do people really ever change? You tell me.

P.S. I have abandoned my predictions on the future of Kenya for now. Apart from upsetting my dear readers, a few believe that I am using voodoo or witchcraft to make these predictions. This is of course NOT TRUE. My predictions are all based on analyzing all the information I receive daily (both what is in the public domain and what is NOT). Of course many readers here do not want to hear about any kind of chaos happening in Kenya. Actually neither do I, but what do you expect as impunity continues even as the suffering of Kenyans increases? I will of course continue with my usual hints at what the future holds in my normal posts.

P.S. It seems that Raila Odinga is a liar. His father and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Tom Mboya were NOT friends. What was Raila trying to achieve with his remarks at Pamela Mboya’s funeral? Jaramogi and Mboya were sworn political enemies? That is the truth.

Jaramogi only sided with Mboya in death and was appalled at the way he had been assassinated by the very people he had been working closely with to not only destroy Jaramogi’s political career but to push him completely out of politics.

You should tell us why Raila MUST GO!

Raila is a liability to kenya, how much is the new PM's office costing? and now he want equal pay with the president, for what? attending funerals for Aids victims in Nyanza and attending uninvited conferences? Then we have his son stealing maize and fuel.

Even Obama his ka-chini does not want anything to do with this dangerous, tribalist communist.

RAILA MUST GO!

Chris said, ....It seems that Raila Odinga is a liar."

You just noted raila is a liar.

He told the world that Obama is his cousin, something that was denied by Obama's campaign team.
What did he wanted to achieve? Adulation. This man likes to be adored and its only fools like you who cannot see what this man is trying to achieve.

This post is about Ruto and not Raila.

As far as your "Raila must go" farting goes.... Keep on dreaming and farting, it will not happen. You will go before he does.

Shame and honour are endangered and may soon be extinct. How do we know this?

We know it is when Government officials squander public resources on useless foreign trips at a time the country is in the grip of famine.

We know it when, while the Government declares a "disaster" and begs the world for food, grain reserves are looted for personal gain.

We know it when the findings of an expensive commission set up to investigate the irregular sale of a hotel are ignored and those most culpable rewarded with ministerial positions.

We know that integrity and executive competence are in terminal decline when political cronies in their mid 70s continue to head Government state enterprises when younger, qualified Kenyans are available.

History repeats it’s self; it’s very true if one as sturdy Kenyan politics you will see that Kenyan politics runs in circles. Do Kenyans recall how Kenyatta fingered jaramogi, now kibaki is fingering rail. Saina eldoret north MP 1969 was frame for stealing car tyres and serone assassinated , chelagat mutai a political detained, now ruto, something wrong with this eldoret north mps. My point is what happens to this MPs always forced the Gover of the day to seek alliance with baringo moderate MPs, this was benefit to the central politicians. I think this what is now playing. If ruto goes down, RV block will have resentment agents Raila and Moi will play his game deliver RV to central team via Baringo, just as Kenyan pick moi and Raila just like his father Jaramogi will never see state house Amen.

Raila will NEVER stand up to Ruto! EVER! You know why? Because RUTO has RAILA by the BALLS and he knows it! Raila is IMPOTENT when it comes to dealing with RUTO!!!

Yes, unfortunately people, we are led by a president who could care less and an IMPOTENT prime minister.

William Samoei arap Ruto was just too greedy to care that his reckless incompetence would result to deaths of innocent kids and women. We already know that he's number one on Waki's infamous list and had graft cases lined up in high court.

The man was not fit to hold a public office in the first place,
so I wonder why we are shocked by this rampant corruption in his docket. Yesterday he was all over the radio and TV stations trying to defend his name, but the more he pleads innocence, the more Kenyans realize he's a serial liar and rotten to the core of his guts.

Guilt is written allover his face and his finger prints are allover the scandal!

But what happened to Kiraitu Murungi of "go easy bwana Githongo!" fame? There was Triton scandal and yet no one seems to remember it now. Kiraitu should also step aside. Actually the whole Government should just go! How about fresh elections so we consign Kibaki and Raila to the dustbin?

Anon 3:32 AM,

You and your Raila hatred... Well here are a few reasons why Kibaki MUST GO!

1) He has "enabled" elite ethnically motivated greed, impunity and executive incompetence to flourish, thrive and be rewarded.

2) He STOLE the elections of Dec '07 and thus triggered the violence that followed

Did you have to wait for oburu Oginga to give a hint on where Rala Odinga stands for you to be "convinced" that 'Ruto must go'?
It is time you guys started thinking for yourselves. I saw some bumper stickers with the message;'Annoy a republican, think for yourself'. I now say, "Annoy an ODMoron, think for yourself"

Of course William Rut MST GO.He should never have joined the govt in the first place. This is the message Martha Karua, Prof. George Saitoti and others were passing to the ODMoron leadership in feb last year. The dangerously myopic ODM leadership led by Raila Odinga and faggot Balala were up-in-arms against the very suggestion. Now they want him out. To them that achieves two goals; be seen to be fighting corruption and two, to weed out political competition (a dangerous miscalculation that one)

Since the crusade against Ruto is not motivated by any strongly-held anti-corruption beliefs as evidenced by the adoration extended to Willliam Ruto and his friends since the run-up to the 2007 polls, since this crusade is propelled by the discovery of a silver bullet to destroy the young man whose usefulness was only to consolidate political support for Raila (a goal achieved) and since there is no other election around ,since he now appears to stand between the narcissist Raila and his imperial ambitions, he must now be destroyed. And I agree, he must be ejected from government and taken to Kamiti where he rightly belongs. In the view of the above, since this is all politics, let's talk a lit bit of that.

William ruto has just proven to me that he is a political tyro.

He started this parliamentary term with a clear intention to compete with Raila Odinga for political prominence. You don't do that when you are not prepared. First of all Raila Odinga is a gifted political pro who has managed to fool a very substantial component of the Kenyan voter. He has managed to be the person who dteremines what amounts to corruption and what does not. If you his choir boy and you engage in dangerous corruption in your ministry like both Charity Ngilu and Anyang Nyong'o did last year and like fagot Balala is doing right now, there will be no pressure on you whatsoever. If, on the other hand you are seen as intent on challenging his authority any suspicion of corruption will be amplified by both the press and a good number of Kenyans. Ruto should have known this and do everything above board. It is not only the right thing to do, but it also guards you against malicious destruction. He should just have asked Kalonzo Musyoka who has been under hundreds of flashlights looking for any impropriety in the conduct of his political life since the period following the referendum. Their search for "scandals" has been futile and that's the best way to frustrate those who have always been keen on taking the campaign for the highest office in the land down the lowest road. Ruto should have done better. Either worship Raila and indulge in corruption or oppose him and do everything above board.

"What Kimunya DID was wrong and what Ruto IS ALLEGED to have done.."
Does anybody need to be reminded of the double standards this blog excels in?

I am late for work, damn!

"so do people really ever change"?.....
The answer is YES-but in the case of our politicians they move backwards and graduate from bad to EVIL not just worse

thats why any Government in Kenya needs to first make the itself and parliament abide by the law before trying to make citizens do the same otherwise we have a situation like now where the tax payers are being led by those who refuse to pay tax

Let Ruto be made to step aside if he refuses to do so voluntarily, while attempts are made to get to the bottom of this maize rip-off

I hate corruption and what it is doing to mwananchi. But come to think of it, ruto appears to be a master political strategist. By giving fidel some maize to sell, he ensured rao could not touch him. He has also managed to make people ask whether the kibs family are also involved or not. On top of this he has a block vote that is committted. Both rao and uhuru (kalonzo) want this block vote. So rao touches ruto, ruto transfers the vote to uhuru. Perfect cold war situation.

Yes Bwana Chris, Ruto must Go, but for God’s sake Kiraitu Murungi Must Stay! Right?

If you have been following the saga of maize in this country, you would not be make such outrageous claims as you have made today. Whatever happened to the real authentic Kumekucha who towered above all blogs including mainstream media?

Obviously, Chris - like thousands of many other clueless (and ohhh yes voteless) diasporans, you have chosen to be drafted into that club which believes that bashing ODM and its leaders will take away the problems bedevilling this country. How sad and unfortunate. As far as I can see bashing ODM only increases web page hits!

To begin with, according to Kumekucha jungle laws, Kenyan ministers are now supposed to resign because there was once Kimunya’s censure motion in parliament which was successful and that he went ahead and resigned. How laughable!

What is amazing is NOT that it has taken so long for someone to come up with the idea of sending Ruto home. What is actually amazing is that Chris imagines 10 million Kenyans are starving because Ruto purportedly sold two million bags of strategic grain reserves (SGR)! It is truly a pity Chris because if you would have taken time to research a bit deeper you would have discovered that ;

One – Kenya depends 100% on rain fed agriculture. In this era of global warming and unpredictable weather patterns, this was the first major cock-up of the Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki regimes. It is as if Ruto is God the almighty so as to dictate how the weather will be in Kenya!

Two – the current food shortage was predicted as far back as 2007 (yes the election year), but Kibaki and the then Agriculture minister Kipruto arap Kirwa were so busy night running and dancing PNU songs to imagine Kenyans would need food in beyond 2008.

Three – and perhaps most importantly, the SGR was just 2 million bags. How on earth Chris was this going to be enough to feed 10 million starving Kenyans, even if it was to be distributed for free to deserving cases?

Four – Of the total 2million bags of the SGR, 1.6 million bags was sold to millers and 0.4million to the so called individuals including the First Lady Lucy Kibaki trading as Gangilly Kenya Ltd (jangili kweli). What is unlawful about this to warrant the resignation of the Agriculture Minister? The fact of the matter is that the SGR was released to the market late last year in a cabinet approved plan aimed at moderating the skyrocketing prices of UNGA.

Incidentally, prices of food have sharply risen globally over the last two years so this situation is not unique to Kenya nor is it a creation of ODM! I would be pleased if you could please quote for us the relevant LAW/S OF KENYA that says selling or trading in maize is illegal? Or it is the usual yada yada of mere talk and no solid proof to back up claims?

Five - According to the Global Information and Early Warning System of the UN-FAO, their report on Kenya food security situation first anticipated in the early part of 2008 and also indicated that our country would face a serious food insecurity situation due to a combination of factors: Displacement, insecurity, poor rainfall, rising food and other commodity prices, reduced cereal production and livestock diseases; The resignation and/or sacking of the Agriculture minister will never mitigate these problems! Please.

Six – contrary to your assertion that Ruto must resign and that there is no other option to alleviate the starvation of Kenyans, there are indeed countless alternatives government can do in order to improve the tragic situation. You further seem not to be aware the government has already declared food shortage as a national disaster and in the process asked for international help on the same. It is an admission that we play too much politics and forget to plan for our very livelihoods. I am hoping that the goodwill of this blog will one day be used to educate Kenyans on issues of that will bring positive change into their lives rather than what is happening now.

FYI- Odinga need not to have been Mboya’s political friend. One does not attend the funeral of one’s enemies. Perhaps you could care to tell us why Mboya’s life friends (Kenyatta, Koinange, Njonjo, Moi, et al) kept away from his funeral and only what you call his friends in death (Odinga, JM Kariuki, et al) attended it? Fear of the unknown? You bet!

Mboya and Odinga represented a stark difference in ideologies. It is like trying to mix oil and water! You and I know which side Mboya represented. You and I also know the public service record of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga (may God rest his soul eternal peace) is equal to NONE – dead or alive.

Classic example why we shouldn't take chance with Ruto:)

"Robert Mugabe goes on a state visit to Israel . While he is on a tour of Jerusalem he suffers a heart attack and passes away. The undertaker tells the accompanying people, 'You can have him shipped home for US$500,000, or you can bury him here, in the Holy Land , for just US$100.' The Zimbabweans go into a corner and discuss for a minute. They come back to the undertaker and tell him they want Mugabe shipped home.
The undertaker is puzzled and asks, 'Why would you spend $500,000 to ship him home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would spend only $100? With the money you save you could buy enough diesel for a year, buy enough medicines to wipe out cholera, buy enough generators to never have blackouts again.'
The Zimbabweans replied, 'Long ago a man died here, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. We just can't take that chance."

Chris,

Thanx for this post. For very many reasons, I have to applaud what you have dwelt on and assume that the bigger picture is emerging from what many people in Kenya are saying at the moment, Ruto is not fit for public consumption, just like the maize that he allocated fellow-thug, illiterate Jackson Kibor.

That Raila Odinga is a liar is not strange, it is only that it is being confirmed by you. This man, said that Barack Obama is his cousin, denied it, again, again and again. They are not cousins and will never be. Barack Obama’s relations are far apart and Raila Odinga is simply trying to milk the adulation and perceived tribal linkages. That is true. On the day that Obama junior was addressing that massive rally in Berlin, Germany, Raila Odinga stood at the doorstep of 10 Downing Street and denied that they were relatives, as American journalists made various enquiries about this and it is on record. May be he, as usual LIED, to avoid a backlash from the American voters.

Secondly, if Barack Obama Snr was a relative of the Odinga’s, Thomas Joseph Mboya could not have airlifted him to the USA alongside the tens of Kikuyus who were in that consignment. If he was connected to the Odingas, he could have landed in Russia and Mboya could not have touched him at all, things were that bad between the two Luo leaders. Kalonzo na Mwau. Period. Thank you for noticing the crocodile tears in Raila’s eyes. User, I maintain.

The other true bit, and like the death of Robert Ouko Seda, many from the Luo community only sided with them (Ouko and Mboya) at death following the heinous manner in which they met their Creator. Otherwise, there was nothing that connected the two gentlemen. I am sure if Mboya died a natural death like his brother Alphonse Okuku, the amount of emotion and anger that poured out could not be halved.

Back to the main post. In the rundown to the botched elections, there were heated arguments on this blog and oldies will remember the defence that was mounted by a section of the writing fraternity here regarding the conduct of one William Ruto. There is gapping evidence that Ruto, through a land buying company they were operating with Cyrus Jirongo were beneficiaries of large tracts of land. The company, then based on the 5th Floor of Loita House was a single beneficiary of bits of land that include a larger bit of the wider Upper Hill, and most of the multinationals currently housed in Upper Hill are customers of Ruto.

What defence did brainwashed ODM sycophants here mount? RUTO HAS NEVER BEEN TRIED OR ARRESTED FOR THE SAID DEALS. Chris, you are a schoolmate of a few of these guys currently in the august house and through your personal contacts you can find out more. The NSSF plots scandal was the milking cow or JACOB’s WELL for most of the political operatives in the country, considering that they hold as much land as the Department of Defence and Office of the President. In most of Ruto’s dealings, the buyer was found even before the land was allocated, the price set and even deposit paid before Commissioner of Lands made the transfer. The evidence is crystal clear on this matter.

But I wonder aloud, why is James Orengo, currently, the Lands minister not making noise? Is his land allocation mantra pointing at the direction his godfather is aiming his salvos? On umpteenth occasions, he has been heard talking about the same and not revealing names. Is the announcement of Ruto’s name being hidden for use at a later date as the MASTERSTROKE? May be!

That he was quick to rush to drill a nail in Amos Kimunya’s coffin and slow to lift the hammer when it concerns an ODM thug baffles me and all.

And what about Najib Balala? Birds of a feather!

can't see why another country has to audit National Cereal Boards...any local auditing company can do this....

easily solution: create an upper house of non elected senators who have the country at heart like Moi; he and others in the upper house could have voted against mps salary increase

Moi queue voting system would have been excellent in Dec 2007; the line up behind Odinga would have been longer for anyone to see!!!

submission to oxford dictionary:

to kenyanize an election...means to create ballots where none exists in favour of the ruling party

another solution: reverse indigenization: reserve 10% civil servants, ministers, and mps positions to non black kenyan ie asians and europeans - this might control corruption and bad adminstration...

Orengo and nyongo have strongly supported ruto. oburu was chastised for calling on ruto to step aside. I can understand rao's dilemma, given that he needs ruto's block vote. But rao must remember that the rest of kenya (including luos) will judge him on the standards he set for himself in 07.

I am happy that many have come to see sense in what i have been saying all along. Chris, have you just discovered that Raila is a Liar? You should have listened to what i said in this blog in 2007. What is he supervising in Govt with his never-ending power struggle with Muthaura? Why can he supervise his son and stop him from stealing maize? He promised his cult followers that maize flour will cost Sh20 per 2Kg packet. Why can't this maize supervisor keep his promise? Why can't he ask the govt to relocate Sh800m meant for his office to help famine victims? What is his role in the oil scandal? wasn't the indian oil thief his drinking friend? I wish Kenyans could reject tribal leaders and rally around the President. Kioko, BC, Canada.
