Most Corrupt VP Ever Wants To Live In State House As Ruto Sells Out

Prof George "coughing VW" Saitoti: This man is very determined to be your next president

It has not surprised political analysts that Internal security minister George Saitoti has finally come out in the open and declared his interest in the presidency.

But what Kenyans need to ask themselves are two simple questions. Who is George Saitoti and can he make a president, let alone lead Kenyans to the promised land we all yearn for?

It is no secret that Saitoti used to drive a beat up VW that would cough uncontrollably at the most inconvenient times on the highways and sometimes traffic policemen would be too surprised to arrest him. His 500 bob cheques would regularly bounce at his bank then, opposite the Hilton Hotel. The mathematics professor was picked up in that state in the 80s and made Finance minister. His climb was meteoric and within no time George Saitoti became an immensely wealthy man. So much so that he is now able to finance a presidential campaign almost effortlessly. So where did his money come from?

----------------------------------------

The truth is that if there was a contest to single out the most corrupt Kenyan who has ever been Vice President, then there would be no contest. Saitoti would win hands down. Apart from the Goldenberg saga which the topology professor has tried very hard to distance himself from, Saitoti built a reputation with many would-be foreign investors as the man who used to send an aide to openly ask for cash handouts and bribes. I have two witnesses who have sworn affidavits and have even named the professor's favourite errand boy in this “business.” That is the man who wants to be your president.

The other question one needs to ask themselves is why Moi overlooked him and went for Uhuru Kenyatta instead in 2002. Some people claim that the excessive greed Moi saw in Saitoti would have meant disaster for Kenya. Oh well, that is neither here nor there because Moi himself also proved quite greedy towards the end of his tenure. But shall we say that is what Moi thought of him?

A fascinating aside here is that it seems that the alliances for 2012 (or whenever it is that we will go to the polls) are taking shape in earnest. One of the people Saitoti no doubt inspired in terms of ways of making overnight wealth by stealing public funds, is William Ruto. The Agriculture minister has been having some fascinating night meetings in his constituency in recent times. I am told Ruto had a large meeting in Eldoret over the weekend with all councillors (or strategic ones) in Rift valley including Maasai, Kalenjin, Samburu etc. At the meeting he referred to Raila as 'that bull without a herd.' Apparently the meeting was at Ruto's house. Then they were all given Kshs 5,000 each (impeccable sources tell me). They all stayed the night in hotels in Eldoret, all paid for by their host. Ruto is also said to have told the councillors that Raila was no longer marketable. And that they should make this the year of the IDPs and take all IDPs as their brothers.

  1. Well Saitoti is a greedy man that we know and he is the cause of most of the corruption related problems in the country. So we should be careful not to fall into the trap of leceting him.

Well Ruto is a case of Old dogs cant learn New tricks. He is an embarassment to ODM. His ministry has been involved in a scandal that might end up causing Kenyans to die of hunger. He is out right evil. He has even caused raila's name to be dragged in the mud.

I hope Kenyans are taking notes that they will revise come 2012.

  3. Raila has been right on EVERY single issue from the Mau forest, ECK to the Waki report even when everyone(Ruto included) was running in the opposite direction and the man seemed isolated. Watch this space on the Issue of Muthaura.
The next phase is going to be pretty exiting, with Barack Obama at the helm in the US and Jacob Zuma in the South. Things are looking up for ODMers....

  4. If raila can be president why not Saitoti?
Raila sudden wealth is contributed to molasses plants thieving and shoddy oil deals as Energy minister under Moi's gava.

  7. Chris,

Although for obvious reasons - George Saitoti, just like Kalonzo Musyoka, cannot be elected president of Kenya, you cannot deny them their democratic right to run for the presidency.

Saitoti is a perennial struggler at the constituency level. So how will he fair on in National politics? Against Moses Ole Sakuda (and other opponents in 2002, 1997, 1992), Saitoti had to be handed the ECK certificate after intervention from the president who prevailed over the returning officers.

But that is not all - Saitoti is simply a continuation of the OLD ORDER and that rules him out of contention as the next occupier of state house.

As regards William Ruto; I will borrow Mzee Kenyatta's words when he commented about the late J.M. Kariuki. "He is like a young bull that does not know from which side to mount a cow". (Read between the political lines).

But when all is said and done - Ruto is by no means any match for Raila at ANY forum, and neither can he defeat Musalia Mudavadi at the ballot for any national seat you care to tog ive him. Those are the facts.

  8. I've noticed something that has kept on repeating itself so many times on Kumekucha. There are people, panua mongrels, who keep on claiming that Kumekucha is full of crap.

Now, how come these panua mongrels never fail to visit this blog, sometimes even on a daily or even hourly basis? The answer: Kumekucha is NOT full of crap, they are the ones who try to bring crap to kumekucha and they always FAIL in their mischievious endevours. THEY WILL ALWAYS FAIL. Fraud, deception and lies will never win. Lets hope also that Kenyans can see the folly and danger of electing a FRAUDULENT, DECEPTIVE and THIEVING mongrel such as Saitoti.

  20. What does saitoti take us for? the man forgets that he was cleared by kibaki's courts, but in the court of public opinion, he is still a goldenberg thief much like Pattni who still enjoys visiting SH. Forget the charade about asking him to leave the bash that was recently held at SH.
These thieves have to be stopped dead in their tracks. It is no accident that Saitoti is the defence minister. Come 2012, our tribal defence bosses will see him as their immediate boss and will probably want to help him ascend to the presidency - shoot to kill in order to retain their jobs. They tried sneaking back the ECK thieves through the back door but were stopped dead in their tracks. They tried gagging the media - so that their evil schemes can go unreported. As it is Saitoti returned to parliament courtesy of the corrupt kibaki and eck. My fear is that they may resort to assassinations to eliminate popular politicians and to make the race less competitive.
I'm curiuos to know how events will unfold in the pnu camp especially with three useless individuals - saitoti, uhuru and kalonzo, who all feel entitled to the presidency.

I had hopes in Raila as an agent of change. I must admit I have never had any regard for Ruto and as such did not have any expectations for him but Raila has dissapointed me.

First they killed people in the name of "removing madoa doa", I did not expect this from him. The maize scandal and others have left me convinced he is no different from ALL the others.

Face it, not everyone is a tribalist as you have been led to believe.

Saitoti is corrupt and creepy while Raila is corrupt, tribalistic and violent.

  30. Saitoti doesn't keep me awake at night. What worries me most is the motive of the very powerful forces behind pushing for a Kalonzo-Uhuru-Ruto team. I can give Kalonzo a second thought, but Ruto and Uhuru, I don't know what to make of them.

But according to my sources it appears as if we are stuck with Kalonzo, Uhuru and Ruto as President, VP and PM respectively. The business world is being lined-up for support. And GEMA will support as long as one of the three is one of their own.

  36. Ken,

You hit the crux of the matter. Raila (and Kibaki and even Ms.Martha Karua or anyone else) held hands with Ntimama, and Henry Kosgei and other questionable characters with the hope of having a clean party and government. The same applies to Kibaki. He surrounded himself with people who do not value civil service. The fact that Saitoti is in GK while everyone knows that he was implicated with Goldenburg says a lot about polical culture and expediency in Kenya.

This is why I asked Okello, if it is indeed true that he is looking to run for the presidency; has he been able to identify a handful of people who have integrity, how agree in principle regarding ethics and respect for the office and who want to serve the people and are willing to take a blood oath to uphold the laws and constitution of Kenya.

Still waiting for an answer, Sam.

If you haven't identified such people based on this criteria then your best bet is to go with the true and tested mode of getting bank rollers to finance your way to state house and then wait for them to come collect.

  43. hello there Ken, Papa +

isn't this here a remarkable difference between knowing who to work with vs some inexplicable appointment(s) that we have to carry on with for 5 years or if there is security of tenure, till "death do us part" or hounded out of office whichever comes first since in Africa leaders do not resign.

she had already been on the stage previously and yet for this appointment she still needs to publicly state her agenda or present her credentials for the position to the satisfaction of the selection committee vis-a-vis the party and leadership strategy.

as opposed to the 1pm announcement that certain PSs, Ambasadeurs, Ministers etc were "shuffled" (sounds like a pack of cards) or "(dis)appointed" followed by the typical wagging of tails or tongues depending on how "sweetable" to our ears, (pun intended) the choice is.

our locally rendition of these events is a presentation of cultural tokens (representing leadership i suppose) stools, animal skin, fly whisk, spear, etc and then we wonder where we went wrong. Nothing wrong with acknowledging our cultural heritage, but its time to step up and have leaders at least appear before a panel in a public forum before appointment and not as in our case, after they've fled with the loot.

  45. Taabu,
It appears that rate at which scandals are cropping up in govt has a relationship to ODM joining the govt and Raila being named PM. Could it be he is really the coordinator and supervisor of these rip-offs! Just sample the following:

    1. A Kenyan drug kingpin has been arrested in UK with cocaine worthy 35 millions. He had been employed by Kenyan Airways after the intervention of the govt cordinator and supervisor.
    2. Mr. Ong'ong'a - Chairman of Kenya Tourism Board has been booted out for corruption. He is a Raila cousin.
    3. Mr. G. Okungu - MD of Kenya Pipeline Company has been sent on leave for fleecing KPC. As the Managing Director he says he didn't know what was happening yet he was the guy who was the link between Triton/KPC and Pan African Petroleum Company (owned by Raila Odinga).
    4. Another scandal is brewing up in the Nyong'o health ministry.

Is this an aberration or the tip of an iceberg? And this comes hot on the heels of Kajwang' selling Kenya national documents like hot cakes, and ODM warlords stealing maize and causing a national artificial famine.

Shame be upon the face of the govt cordinator and supervisor for overseeing what is being referred to as "Fleecing of the Nation."
