PNU Now Walking Same Doomed Path KANU Walked in 2002

Uhuru handed PNU ticket as Kalonzo retreats to ODM-K!

In 2002 KANU was a powerful political machine but the disgraceful management of the Moi succession ended its 40 year grip on power. We are now in 2008, KANU is virtually dead and signs are that we shall be going to an all important constitutional referendum in 2009 and possibly a general election shortly thereafter followed by Kibaki’s retirement.

Recent reports indicate that the PNU succession structure has been finalized and not so surprisingly, the so called president’s principal assistant, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has been upstaged by KANU Chairman Uhuru Kenyatta as the preferred torch bearer of post Kibaki PNU. Not totally unexpected, but ever since Kalonzo was persuaded to pressure the ECK into announcing controversial presidential results on the premise that he would be given the Vice President’s docket plus several cabinet positions for his party ODM-K, he has fallen over himself wooing the GEMA voters. He has visited Central and Upper Eastern provinces at any given opportunity in the mistaken belief that the rich GEMA vote basket would be his for the taking following Kibaki’s retirement. It brings back memories of 2007 when Kalonzo persistently and unsuccessfully attempt to court the Rift Valley vote through the AIC church.

The last time I checked, Kalonzo was playing amateurish politics assembling Dubai bound councillors and telling that he had no qualms with them undertaking the Harun Mwau sponsored trip as if he has any powers to stop them in the first place. Kalonzo further assured councillors that ODM-K would sponsor a motion in parliament proposing a salary raise for civic leaders, forgetting that only a few months ago, millions of Kenyan workers were denied their annual salary increase during Labour Day celebrations by none other than President Kibaki! Many political observers believe Kalonzo and Uhuru’s moves to dissolve ODM-K and KANU is being driven the fear that these two parties cannot pass the acid test that is the Political Parties Act 2007 The two politicians have been singing the unity song since the formation of the grand coalition.

Now it emerges that the blessed PNU succession line-up features Uhuru as 1st Vice Chairman (read presidential torch bearer), a very reluctant Moses Wetangula as 2nd Vice Chairman (read running mate – words that have no meaning in Kenya’s volatile politics), Mutula Kilonzo as Secretary General and George Nyamweya as Organizing Secretary. The Treasurers position is being reserved for rebels and all of the top PNU positions are to have two deputies.

With a retirement bound Kibaki being given the Chairman’s post, Kalonzo’s name had initially been proposed for the high sounding Deputy Party Leader post, but events on the ground became too hot forcing PNU to abandon the Party Leader post and in the process left Kalonzo without any significant party position. Clearly, the PNU structure has been crafted with Kibaki succession / general elections in mind and with the political parties act hovering above their heads, there is no other option but to call for the dreaded grassroot elections.

Interestingly, the PNU top line-up does not feature FORD-K, FORD-P, SHIRIKISHO, SAFINA or any of the other numerous parties that supported Kibaki’s bid for the presidency in 2007.

To complicate the PNU succession equation even further, KANU ‘owners’ led by ex-President Moi have disowned Uhuru’s move to dissolve the independence party by flatly refusing to join the PNU bandwagon.

Even more significantly, Mzee Moi is said to have finally accepted that Agriculture minister and ODM pentagon member William Ruto is now politically superior to himself and his favourite son Gideon Moi in so far as Rift Valley is concerned. In other words, Moi is using the elders to send an olive branch to the ODM, especially Raila Odinga who many observers opine will be the man to beat in the next general elections.

Mzee Moi is keen on rehabilitating his son Gideon back into the national political platform through KANU, a party that has been lying on its death bed since the December 2007 general elections. Given Moi’s strong emotional attachment to KANU, rather than have the independence party dissolved like Chairman Uhuru Kenyatta appears to have decided, the senior Moi recently invited Kalenjin elders to his palatial Kabarak home to apologise for his mistakes in 2002 (read backing Uhuru) and 2007 (read backing Kibaki).

In the meantime, George Saitoti and Martha Karua are watching events in PNU with a keen eye. Saitoti is planning to use his massive wealth to sponsor candidates in the PNU grassroots polls so as to have an upper hand when the PNU National Delegates Congress is called to choose national officials and the party torch bearer. Saitoti is banking on Kibaki to endorse him as successor due to their closeness and also by virtue of being the senior most of all PNU presidential contenders.

Martha Karua, whose popularity in Central Province is worrying Uhuru Kenyatta, has declared that her interest for the presidency is real and that NARC-K will not be dissolved for the sake of PNU unity. Karua’s chances of mounting a serious presidential bid is largely influenced by her long time association with the civil society and if James Orengo’s experience is anything to go by, then Karua will be in for the shock of her life when election results are announced. As it is, she lacks the prerequisite resources in terms of finance and the vital grassroot representation at the district and locational levels. Her defence of ECK and PNU earlier in the year makes her an instant enemy in most parts of Kenya and she would require to shelter under the massive political umbrella of Raila Odinga’s ODM to be gradually accepted nationally.

The game is on, will PNU survive or will it go the KANU way?

Thats is why its full of Kanu thieves and masters of corruption and is led by an able master of deceit and entertainer....molasses raila aka useless nyundo!!!

  4. ODMers have now exported flying toilets to kisumu! and 300k of kisumu's 500k people live in slums. It something molasses, flip flop Raila has that he attract poverty and misery wherever he goes? I mean Kibera? coast now nyanza?

but Raila is a billionaire! the fools are the idiots that are mesmerized by his behind, the ODMorons like sir Alex whose brain has only had two major thoughts since the stopped sucking his thumb; pampaering raila's butt and pouring hate on Kikuyus.

Then he wonders why they are throwing human waste around in polythene bags

  7. Four years is like eternity in Kenyan politics and as we know it's very fluid never static. Eventually, the race will shape into two camps.

Already we find Gema is out of the race and have generally accepted so. Come 2012 and it will be Kalonzo (Pres) and Uhuru (PM)together while Raila will have Martha Karua in her camp.

Gema will thus be split 50/50. Musalia will be in Raila's vice grip but Ruto will sulk although Kalenjins love for Agwambo is legendary.

I foresee Kalonzo forming the next government thanks to another vote theft with the help of Moi and Kibaki. Ok, there will be some riots here and there but people have to go back to work, don't they?

It will be another round of moving on, Commisssions of inquiries, task forces, healing and reconcillaitin and GSU will get another big bonus for a job well done. MARK MY WORDS.

  8. This Kikuyu obsession with the "cut"
is very amusing, they claim to be "cut" but still behave like Kihii's
who thrive in the dirty "environment" of CORRUPTION, DECEPTION, THEFT, CARJACKINGS, CONMANSHIP and FRAUD. Real men shun such primitive Kihii behavior. Kihii's embrace such behavior wholeheartedly.

  9. This Raila molasses is the worst thing ever happened to Kenya.
This evil messiah is an agent of Lucifer sent to destroy the nation of Kenya through tribal politics. Go study all agents of satan, they come in the name of they are better than anyone else and doctrines meant to brainwash people. Another one of their hallmark is idol worhip. Have you noticed he have the former witch on his side ("Bishop" Margaret Wanjiru) to help him mastermind his evil deed.

Every right minded Kenya MUST resist this evil and never allow it to ascend to the throne.

    GOD SAVE KENYA FROM MOLASSES!

  10. Phil,

It is still too early to know how things will shape up in PNU. It is important to note that the euphoria created by Raila in 2007 is not sustainable to 2012. He will never achieve that level of support again. All indications are that Martha Karua will be on Raila's side. However, she is unlikely to get back to parliament in 2012, given the voting pattern of Central Province (Muite and Maathai are good examples). Given this scenario i think the guys to watch will be Kalonzo and Saitoti. A line-up with the two plus Uhuru will be a force to reckon with.

You Luhya are the second largest ethnic group in Kenya but you don't have anything to show. You live in the shadow of Luos and hope they will deliver it for you.
Unlike any other Bantu group in Africa, you are lazy, no ambitions and likes things delivered to by someone else. You are a shame to the great Bantu people.

  13. HAHAHAHA....HA HA HA...HO HO HO!!
Yes the seeds of a STOLEN ELECTION, GRAND CORRUPTION, MURDER ETC are beckoning for the PNU family.
Question is, can we fast forward the demise of PNU, so we Kenyans get what we voted for in December 2007?

  14. Phil, I do not want to join the bandwagon of those people who cannot speak without insulting others. But first, the same pple accusing Luos of being obsessed with Kikuyus are themselves obsessed with Luos. I wonder whether this post was about Luos and Kikuyus.

Anyway Phil, there are a number of issues you have here which I'd call gross misinformation. I'll mention a few:

    1. "Even more significantly, Mzee Moi is said to have finally accepted that Agriculture minister and ODM pentagon member William Ruto is now politically superior to himself and his favourite son Gideon Moi in so far as Rift Valley is concerned. In other words, Moi is using the elders to send an olive branch to the ODM" - My Opinion; Moi is playing his normal cards. If Ruto is foolish enough to accept this, Moi will use the opportunity to turn him against Raila and ODM generally. Remember, Moi will never forgive ODM and Raila in particular. So they better watch out.

    2. "Raila Odinga who many observers opine will be the man to beat in the next general elections" - My Opinion - Raila will not contest the next elections as a presidential candidate. If the constitution is reviewed, the presidency will loose meaning. Raila will remain the key player in the election but I doubt whether he'll be a candidate. Unless you are telling us that there will be no new constitution!

    3. "Mzee Moi is keen on rehabilitating his son Gideon back into the national political platform through KANU, a party that has been lying on its death bed since the December 2007 general elections" - My Opinion - Gideon cannot be rehabilitated, not less by Moi. Kenya is changing and such people will not have a place in Kenya. Second, KANU has been on it's deathbed since 2003. If anything, it's already in the grave, waiting burial.

    4. "Moi recently invited Kalenjin elders to his palatial Kabarak home to apologise for his mistakes in 2002 (read backing Uhuru) and 2007 (read backing Kibaki)" - My Opinion - Back to old tactics, Moi is just trying to consolidate himself. Then he'll strike all those who embarassed him, including the "elders".

    5. "Martha Karua, whose popularity in Central Province is worrying Uhuru Kenyatta" - My Opinion - Martha has no popularity to begin with, not to talk of Central Kenya! She's made so many enemies on both sides. Call an election now and you'll be surprised, Tuju style.

    6. "she would require to shelter under the massive political umbrella of Raila Odinga’s ODM to be gradually accepted nationally" - My Opinion - This may be true, but remember Kenyans never forget. They just hide the skeletals for the time being. Come next elections, if Raila presents to us Martha as his ally, we'll ask him to explain why. By the way, why has Martha become your hero Phil?

All the same, every other thing stated here may/may not be true. God bless you all.

Not What I say but what I do is my Kingdom!

Chief Dr. Al Hajj M.A. Minus Opportunity, Nanga, MP.

  17. Anon 4:56 AM, you have very interesting views about Msema Kweli. I shall give my "2 cents". My replies are in Bold:

"Msema Kweli, You like talking the truth, how about this truth.
You Luhya are the second largest ethnic group in Kenya but you don't have anything to show

Whatever little we have, we earned - we did not steal. You people with the so called "a lot that you have" got it via DECEPTION, THEFT, CARJACKINGS, CONMANSHIP and FRAUD, no productive econimic activity, just PARASITISM of the highest order, very Kihii type of behavior if you ask me. Your wives even go to the extent of killing their fellow Kikuyu husbands so that they can "enjoy" the wealth, that the husband has STOLEN, alone.

You live in the shadow of Luos and hope they will deliver it for you.

We do not live under the shadow of Luo's. Your sight is a bit distorted, "Kikuyu eyes" have been known to see a Lion and then call it a pussycat. Does the fact that we get along with them as fellow Kenyans rattle you so much? If so, learn to live with other Kenyans.

Unlike any other Bantu group in Africa, you are lazy, no ambitions and likes things delivered to by someone else. You are a shame to the great Bantu people.

I THINK, NO, I KNOW THAT THE COMMUNITY THAT BELIEVES IN STEALING AS A ACCEPTABLE WAY OF LIFE IS THE BIGGEST LET DOWN TO KENYANS - The very vices that have made Kenya not to achieve it true great potential and enabled other countries which were poorer that us to show Kenya dust as far as Economic prosperity is concerned. SHAME ON THEM, Kihii's! Their is no way you can convince anyone except your fellow Kikuyu thieves that you are "hardworking" when this is the behavior you engage in

  18. M-PESA: your assertion that Kalonzo will form the next government is a far-fetched imagination. We have seen presidential candidates come and go. Last year we saw a fake one that was christened MIRACLE. If Kalonzo would have taken a neutral stand following the regrettable events of the 2007 presidential elections, he could have emerged stronger and much more trust worthy to the average Kenyan. Remember just under 1 year ago, he forced a large part of ODM-K to secede and form ODM. Is it a surprise he is ready to dissolve the same party now? How about the fact that Raila and Kibaki, as the two principal partners, are the ones dictating the national political agenda? Kalonzo is not featuring anywhere and shall always remain fearful of a 1pm news bulletin sacking. The imminent cabinet reshuffle has been put on hold at the request of Raila who wants to finish with the the by-elections and the forthcoming cabinet line-up will shock many people.

JEFF: PNU was a vehicle that was formed to carry Kibaki’s candidature in 2007. It turns out that it has a massive job of creating grassroot structures and be at par with other baby parties like NARC-K. I can tell you for a fact the minute Kibaki leaves the presidency, it will be the end of PNU. The ODM support has grown from what was known as the Rainbow Alliance in 2002. The Rainbow Alliance was responsible for Kibaki’s victory in 2002. After transforming to LDP, it handed the president’s side its defeat at the referendum in 2005. This is the same group that defeated Kibaki at the polls in 2007 before Kivuitu, Kalonzo and the Kenya Police came to Kibaki’s rescue. What I am telling you is the ODM bus will stop when the journey reaches its end – which is the total reform of this country and better life for all Kenyans that is beginning its third leg. Even without Raila I can assure you ODM has its eyes firmly on the PRICE.

CHIEF AL HAJJ NANGA: I appreciate your comments but I do not agree with what you say about Moi, Ruto and Raila. You seem to forget that Moi is growing old and is no longer the same young energetic president we had in the 1990s. Recently when Raila was touring the south rift he was quoted as telling the Kipsigis. “This is the rainy season in which you will plant and harvest. You cannot forecast the weather patterns of tomorrow so if you bank on tomorrow, you are gambling.” Read between the lines and you will see Raila is telling them you never know who/what will be in store for this country tomorrow. Plant now while it is raining so you can have a rich harvest tomorrow. As a man who single handedly brought bitter defeats to both Kibaki and Moi, and as a man who has been in the thick of things during the long twenty years Kenya has been searching for a new constitution, don’t you think he know what he is talking about?

Kalonzo’s strategy is to inherit Kibaki’s political constituency. Being the short-sighted politician that he is, he fails to see that the Uhurus of this world were there before him. In any case, 600k votes Kalonzo brings to the table can be brought by just about any other political rookie in Kenya. In other words GEMA can decide which bed to jump into more so the ODM one that brings goodwill from world super powers where prominent members of the Moi and Kibaki regimes take their children to school, banked stolen funds and own property. Additionally, they want VISA bans lifted, and it is only RAO’s intervention that can bring about this.

    ReplyDelete
  19. My humble opinion is as follows:

    - one, all GEMA, are acutely aware that one of their own cannot possibly succeed Kibaki. Being a GEMA, i can tell you that even folks in rural areas appreciate this so much. So even Uhuru cannot try and run for president. So GEMA are looking to support another man from another tribe...and this is where Kalonzo hopes to reap from.

    - Two. Martha Karua is really not trying to run for president. She is simply trying to do what Ruto did to Moi. Ruto pretended he was running for president and once he had the kalenjin behind him, he folded his candidacy and followed Raila. Karua hopes to do the same and have the kyuk behind her before she does a deal with the 2012 presidential candidates to get VP or PM. I cannot begrudge her for trying cos if she does not, then the best she can get post 2012 is another ministry - which is what she has of now. Her problem is that she is being viewed as a Raila mole aka Maathai or Muite and that could do her in seriously. Also, she aint got the charisma or oratory of Uhuru...her language is best suited in a court of law or in parliament...not when seeking votes. If u saw the last PNU campaigns, Uhuru got even larger cheers for his speeches than even Kibaki himself.

    - I think the PNU line up will be as follows: Kalonzo - President, Kombo/Wetangula - VP, Uhuru - PM.

  22. My general feeling is that the future of politics in kenya is about good mps. Once nairobians take life seriously about who represents them and stop electing goons either as councilors or mps kenya will start a serious turn around.

This is where majimbo will be efffective because the jimbos that do well will atrract skilled labour and business. The current centalised system puts too much focus on the president and nothing else.

People thinking they will carry tribal blocks may find themselves in a awkward situation where they have won the popular vote but have no mps srictly backing them, making their agenda hard to pass in parliament.

Kenya is increasingly becoming hard to control from the centre and any clever person must learn that personality culture will not take you anywhere in the new kenya. We are progressively electing Mps who are more independent and will not be moved by personalities.
Thats the only positive about the high salaries they enjoy.

I actually disagree with you on this being also from central

Martha Karua has very powerful power brokers from all over central especially from Kibaki's backyard Nyeri who have endorsed and pledged to support her financially!

Infact before she come out to claim that she was on the presidency badwagon... there was a secret meeting I know of where all this powerful individuals met with her to give her a nod... and with this powerful in central province individuals behind her and the money that these individuals represent!!!!
Karua can go head on head with Uhuru and win the central province vote.....

But as for Martha Karua getting votes from the rest of kenya?? she is dreaming and misplaced - i don't see any other tribe in kenya giving Uhuru, Kilonzo Karua a vote?? not even if they changed the color of their skin...
it won't happen- kenya saw them for their true colors and kenyans are waiting patiently to teach them a lesson in democracy using their vote!!!!

You are so right - I think at the beginning all PNU were routing for Kilonzo because the Mt. Kenya elite Mafia thought they could control him once in statehouse, but they have now realized Kalonzo has his own agenda and will not be controllable once he gets into statehouse:):)
Hence now people like Karua making a run for Presidency..

But either way those votes are only in central province and even this time the Kamba vote will be divided equally between Kalanzo and Charity Ngilu's, Haron Mwau's people...

the voting trend will not support PNU even if they had Kalonzo as their presidential Candidate:):) and the kikuyu mafia already know that as a fact.

    thanks - I call a spade a spade..

Martha has some powerful backing i know off from all over central.. the Money guys.. and can win against Uhuru anytime.
My point remains - win where??? that is the question Martha Karua and Uhuru or Kalonzo are forgetting to answer...

But I'm very positive the rest of kenya has that answer marked in their memory after the 27th December 2007 election and what happened thereafter ..

The will use this memories and make sure the vote they cast will change the politics of Kenya forever...

What I know Kenyans are very intelligent regardless of which tribe and province they originate from... but some politicians still thinks kenyans are fools especially kenyans from other tribes not from central:):)

You know what?? the beauty of the above statement was flushed all over Kenya on the blogs on Media e.t.c

Can you imagine being a Luyha, Luo, Kalejin, Mijikenda,Kisii, Masai, Teso, and others - being called fools, stupid, Lazy, uncut, filthy, apes, kihii' on your face by a tribe known as kikuyu and

to go further, the same tribe using their muscles having their leader in statehouse- and using the same governemtn machinary to torture and kill your tribesmen??

and to add more injury a SISTER tribe TO KIKUYU'S called kamba supporting this kikuyu tribe - TO ABUSE, TORTURE, KILL, FRUSTRATE, KENYANS BY WAY OF SUPPORTING THE RIGGED ELECTIONS.....

COME ELECTION TIME - YOU USE YOUR POWER OF VOTE TO CLEAN THEM OUT OF PARLIAMENT AND IN GOVERNMENT-

BEST REVENGE IS TO SWEEP THEM ALL OUT..... MAKE SURE CENTRAL PROVINCE IS KNOWN STARTER..... JUST LIKE WE DID TO KANU..

To this very day alot of kikuyu grown ups a found uncut....so lets not pretend that is a popular thing even amoung the kikuyus.

That thing honestly belongs in the same place as FGM and removal of lower 6teeth which nobody educated does these days.....

name one prominent luo of any age with 6lower teeth removed....they moved away from that ages ago some clueless goon are still stuck with genital mutilation and are happy about it..ole wetu.

    AND THIS TIME VIKII:)

RIGGING AND KILLING INNOCENT KENYANS WON'T BE AN OPTION .....

  44. Phil,

Interesting analysis as always. What most Kenyans now understand is that the PNU was never a serious movement. It was a marriage of convenience that brought together men and women whose sole motivation was to perpetaute their stranglehold on Kenyan politics and protect wealth gathered over the years.

The ODM, on the other hand, is a movement that draws in millions of Kenyans intent on creating a unified, properous nation. Even as i say that, I still hope we can disagree on policy and political direction rather than bring in the tribal angle into a matter like this.

I disagree with Kalonzo because I feel he never stood with Kenyans when the nation was bleeding. I disagree with Kibaki because he has presided over one of the worst periods of tribal relations in Kenyan history and turned my beloved country into a laughing stock. I agree with Odinga because he has worked hard to restore calm and a sense of dignity into the matters of governance. Do I agree with Raila because he is a Luo like me? Far from it.

Again, let's work toward detribalizing our minds so we can see the issues facing Kenya as Kenyan problems, not Luo or Kikuyu or Luhya. That is Phil's point.

    Have a good dinner, folks!

    Bishop arrested over Naivasha killings
    BY BERNARD MOMANYI and CORRESPONDENT
    Update on 21-08-2008 7:10:13 PM

NAIVASHA, August 21 – A pastor who has been implicated in the bizarre murders and rapes in Naivasha has been arrested.

The man of the cloth, identified by police as Bishop Jeremiah Paragyo of New Hope for All Nations Church, was arrested on Thursday, a day after police arrested a suspect in whose house a woman’s body was recovered.

Police said they arrested the cleric after the suspect implicated him in a series of murder cases in the region.

Police reports indicate that Geoffrey Njoroge Matheri had admitted to killing the woman, drinking her blood and further claimed to have sold some of her body parts to the cleric.

Private parts, breasts, tongue and the woman’s eyes were gorged out when the body was found buried in a shallow grave in Matheri’s house in Kihoto estate, near Lake Naivasha.

“He (the suspect) has also admitted to having tortured, raped and killed his victims before he drew their blood and body parts for sale,’ a senior officer said.

Matheri, who is said to be the leader of a street children’s gang in Naivasha, was arrested late Tuesday when one of his victims escaped from his house as he allegedly drew blood from her.

Police raided the man’s house and conducted a search, during which they recovered some blood-stained clothes including uniforms believed to be those of a teenage girl who has been missing for weeks now.

Some freshly-covered soil led the officers to suspect that there was a shallow grave in the man’s compound, prompting them to seek an exhumation order from the Nakuru Law courts.

Police have now concluded that Matheri is a serial killer in the region, suspecting that he may have killed many other people, mainly women and children who have disappeared mysteriously.

As Bishop Paragyo was being questioned, a crowd – mainly worshipers at his church – gathered outside the Naivasha police station.

Journalists who arrived to cover the events at Naivasha police stations were at one point ordered to leave.

Area deputy District Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Calistus Mauko spent close to 30 minutes interrogating the cleric who reportedly denied any involvement in the bizarre incidents.

A visibly shaken Bishop Paragyo later emerged from the DCIO’s office and was immediately led to the police cells.

Speaking while being escorted to the cells, Bishop Paragyo proclaimed innocence, accusing his “detractors” of maligning his name.

He said that he had been called by the CID officers to record a statement over the adverse mentions by the street boy who is suspected.

According to Paragyo, the street boy told the officers that he (Bishop) had been asking for human blood upon which the street boy would kill a person to get the blood.

Naivasha District acting police chief Paul Kisang’ told the press the bishop was being interrogated following a statement recorded by the street boy who is the prime suspect.

Kisang’ said the Bishop would remain in custody to shed more light on the matter that has sent shock waves across the country.

“More suspects are lined up for investigations. There are people who have been implicated and will be called in to tell us what they know,” he said.

Police have in the meantime been deployed to guard Bishop Paragyo’s home and church to wade off residents who have threatened to set the structures on fire.

Kenyan minister accuses UPDF of killing pastoralists

    Grace Matsiko

    Kampala

Kenyan pastoralists are feared to have been killed in a confrontation with the UPDF along the border, Kenya’s Labour Minister John Munyes has claimed.

The claim, however, has been roundly denied by the to UPDF.
Mr Munyes said reports indicated that the UPDF had ambushed scores of Turkana herders who had crossed into Uganda in search of water and pasture for their livestock and killed a number of them.

“The Ugandan army bombed the herders in a bid to flush them out. The bombing and shooting has been going on for last the 24 hours,” an angry Munyes told Daily Nation on Sunday.

Mr Munyes, who is also the Turkana North MP, however said it was not clear how many people had been killed or injured as the UPDF had blocked people from reaching the area, 10km inside Uganda.

But the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, said on Tuesday he was not aware of any bombings by the UPDF or the army having been in contact with any group from Kenya.

“Bombing Kenyans for what? That’s a rumour and as of now we are not using any helicopter,” Gen. Aronda said.
But the military chief said, if the Kenyan cattle rustlers entered Uganda with guns, the UPDF would be compelled to fight them to stop harm to Ugandans.

UPDF 3rd Division spokesman Henry Obbo said the allegations by the Kenyan minister were surprising because the Uganda-Kenya joint security committee has not received such reports.

“We should expect the Kenyan army to complain not a politician because we monitor movement of cattle rustlers jointly,” he said adding that the UPDF has not had any operation by a gunship of late.
Mr Munyes said 5,000 Turkana herdsmen crossed to Uganda two months ago due to persistent drought in Kenya but were asked to leave by the UPDF.

“I will fly to Kakuma and then drive for five hours to the area to get first hand information,” Mr Munyes said.
Kenya and Ugandan authorities had scheduled a meeting for July 30 to resolve the issue but it never took place.

Mr Munyes said Kenya’s High Commissioner Japheth Getugi was asked to arrange for another meeting and he was to accompany four other ministers to Kampala next week.

The team will come to further negotiate for the herders to be allowed in the country until the situation improves in Turkana.
“We thought we would negotiate under the spirit of the East Africa Community,” Mr Munyes said.

“Some of the herders are returning as it has started raining in Turkana,” he added.

I don't expect anything from a fellow human being and never will as long I live. Your obsession with a fellow human being and hatred for Kibaki and Kikuyu just proves how empty you people are.
If you have a life, you would expect too much another human being.
One of the reason why people worship another human being is because of perception they might be fucking amazing humans either because of their charisma, feat or physical attributes but all these are derived from emptiness from within and a poor self image.

Why were Mwai Kibaki and Robert Mugabe allowed to attend the AU summits in Ethiopia and Cairo after the two had clearly carried out coups d’etat in their respective countries? When is a coup not a coup?

Githongo is no hero, says Njoya

    Published on 21/08/2008

    By Susan Anyangu

Former PS John Githongo’s return is inconsequential in the fight against corruption, retired PCEA cleric Timothy Njoya has said.

He dismissed Githongo’s return, saying the former PS should not be given a hero’s welcome because he abandoned the country at the hour of need. “It is wrong to glorify Githongo’s return yet he fled at a crucial time,” he said on Wednesday.

The Rev Njoya claimed that Githongo ran away “because of his selfish interests, and not because he wanted corruption to be eliminated”.

“If he was genuine, he would have stuck with the suffering Kenyans and come out clearly and with facts on who was corrupt instead of keeping Kenyans in suspense by releasing doses of dossiers,” Njoya said.

But Planning Minister Wycliffe Oparanya said the Government should take advantage of the return of former anti-graft campaigner to conclude investigation into the Anglo-Leasing scam.

  64. Raila's enthusiastic support for Judges to sign performance contracts only reinforces the Bondo Bumpkin's character as a lustful, greedy, power hungry megalomaniac. Why does he pretend to present himself as the paragon of virtue? Who does he think he himself should be accountable to, the dictatorial idiot?
It is good Justice Gicheru told him to get lost and now the Bondo Bumpkin understands the limitations of his so called authority. Never mind Karua who, as usual, is as politically naive as ever.
Raila should instead be asking MPs to sign performance contracts which have a punishment clause starting with himself as Langata MP. He should set the example. Performance targets should be set for all MPs and if you haven't performed at the end of the year, you go home. We should know how many toilets Raila has built in Kibera at the end of the year, otherwise he should fuck off and stop interfering with other arms of Govt. Kenya is a democracy with separation of powers in three ways and none is cleaner than the other as all the branches are just reflections of Kenyan society which is itself indisciplined and corrupt. Some Kenyans like the Bondo Bumpkin should therefore not pretend to smell like roses accusing others of being corrupt and being holier than thou.

I think you know that we know what you and odm are up to. You want pnu to present a candidate from central. Going by your tactics in the last election, you believe such a candidate will be easy to beat. We also know that if the pnu candidate is not from central, odm will sponsor some one from central (karua, muite etc) to run on some other party. The strategy is ofcourse to make the gema vote useless. Will it work? Time will tell.

  67. I am neither for Raila nor a kibaki supporter. But I have a justified dislike of Raila. Is that not allowed in KK?

I wonder if you people understand democracy, or you just went to school but you are still bound to African backwardness.
One essential process of democracy is freedom of political expression, freedom of speech. civil liberties and human rights. But what I see here in KK is, you are either for Raila or we are against you. From what I see here, Raila is the only voice to be heard and everyone must agree with raila supporter unless you are a Kikuyu buffoon. That concept is not democracy, its primitive and does not serve any purpose in the modern society.

So much I like Obama, I am aware not everyone is going to vote for him. But am in no way going to think they are idoits just because they are not going to vote for the man I think should be the next president of America.

In April 2007, I voted for Madame Ségolène Royal in 2007 French presidential election. We all expected her to win and when President Nicholas Sarkozy was declared the winner with a margin of only 6% everyone was in total shock, even today most of her supporters still do believe it but they still accepted Sarkozy. Even after losing the election which she was expected to win, most of die-hard Madame Royal supporters did not go to vent their anger on Sarkozy's supporters but rather they were just stunned. Would I ever call any of Sarkozy's supporters' names or think they should be hanged? Never! And some of them are the snobby characters that you would love to hate but I don't hate them because of voting for that man many dislike.
This is the kind of democracy am talking about. Or Africans have a long way to go to understand that word democracy? By the way Sarkozy is a son of immigrant but yet the French people voted for him.

We have all sorts of dilects spoken there that altogether form the Luhyia of Kenya have you ever seem us fight? We learn to co-exist and see others as human beings and that is why we mutually exist with our neighbours Luo included. The Luos accept this fact, name to me any tribe in Kenya which is as democratic as the Luhyia? We don't follow politicians blindly that is why we have floored sitting vice-presidents not once but twice. We acknowledge we have our own problems but what we don't take sitting down are insults. Remember the wave to remove Kanu from power started when MOI came visiting western and told a gathering a little further from Ingo that "they should not worry about the luhyias, they like small favors". Moi did not even get a chance to reach Bukhungu. Hell broke loose. And there lies the biggest problem in Kenya....stereotyping others.
