Cops Mistake Each Other For Thugs And Exchange Fierce Gun Fire In Nairobi

Kumekucha Weekend Special: Focus on the Kenya Police

The following hilarious incident that happened only last Monday (July 7th 2008) speaks volumes about the kind of police force we have in Kenya.

Two police units mistook each other for thugs and engaged in a fierce shootout where two passengers inside a matatu caught in the cross fire died on the spot. The ill-fated matatu was going to Eastleigh.

Police have denied the deaths and only said that the two passengers were seriously injured. My sources have however confirmed that the two innocent Kenyans died on the spot and the bodies were loaded into a police vehicle and taken away. This writer is yet to establish where the bodies ended up because they never arrived at Kenyatta National Hospital where police said they were taken “for treatment.” One police officer was injured and taken to Forces Memorial hospital where he was treated and discharged.

The incident took place in Nairobi’s Kariokor Estate and was confirmed by Central police station deputy OCS Richard Mugwai. He said the incident took place shortly before 1 pm at the Racecourse roundabout.

One of the police units in the shootout was from outside Nairobi and was unknown to the Flying squad officers who were obviously in plain clothes.

This incident that has even been confirmed by police spokesman Eric Kiraithe illustrates the well known fact that the line between the police and thugs is so thin that sometimes it disappears altogether. Criminals are known to hire firearms from the police to commit crimes for a fee. The advantage in using police firearms is obvious. It means that the gun that committed the crime can never be traced.

Many other times cops are in partnership with thugs who share the spoils with them. The police then shoot them dead when they have outlived their usefulness and also to eliminate the possibility of the criminals ever “spilling the beans” and testifying against them. They then promptly move to the next upcoming gang of thugs and repeat the same process.

In such a situation the question arises as to whether the police will ever be able to win the fight against crime.

This series cannot be complete without repeating the often-told tale of what policemen do when they have no food in the house. The story goes that they grab their uniform and tell mama watoto to boil some water. Before the water has fully boiled they will usually be back with groceries including a kilo of meat. No they did not withdraw the funds from a nearby ATM, what they did was to elicit a bribe from the first person they met by threatening to lock them up for a charge they will figure out later.

Is there really any hope for the rotten society that is Kenya where money is so important that nothing else matters?

  1. Good direction in your articles. These are nice figments of your imagination. They entertain, and that is, as it should be.

You should permanently desist from any imaginations or creativity that portray HIS EXCELLENCY Mwai Kibaki in negative light.

Otherwise, your literary metamorphosis is encouraging.

  2. Please do not generalize the - maybe - single cases with the rest. There are honest and sincere policemen (and women) out there who even risk their own lives to save that of others. They are not even well-paid nor are their families been taking care of in case something happens to them. Be fair to all those who do their best to protect also somebody like you. Or is it that you are just looking for some cheap applause when posting this rubbish here? If this is the NEW Kumekucha - let me tell you, we want to have back the old one - the one Chris had founded and led before going to enjoy the green pastures of the white-man's world leaving this blog in the hands of some ghost called Oscar.

  8. CLARIFICATION REGARDING EDWIN YINDA:

he was more than 20 years younger than Marianne -. they met at the Mombasa Sports Club - and soon tehy became lovers - he passed her the keys to his apartment and instructed his servant to let her in whenever she wante to.

DOES THIS NOT SOUND VERY FAMILIAR
WITH THE THE JEFF KOINANGE STORY ????????

  9. Ai, this Brinner woman must have rotten 'insides'

  10. What? Is Marianne Brinner a nymphomniac. Why this fixation with black men? I will not be surprised if Dr Ouko also shagged her.

Now about Chris - the thing about his wife having a fling is all lies. This blog is private - just put the name of the person and your address. If it is not true then Chris should sue you for defamation.

Absolutely presposterous. Hata kama una hate Chris but this is atrocious.

Marianne Briner we are sick and tired of your shiate on here- first and foremost you are not kenyan and you keep posting nonsense on here while kenyans are trying to come to an understanding on the way foreward for the sake of peace in our beloved kenya and i find your posts here insulting to kenyans.

Do you think that us kenyans we air our love lifes and dirty laundry about each other on air or blogs?? our traditions are totally different from your whites who prefer airing your dirty laundry on shows and media- to gain sympathy - get lost you are the most disgusting white fleshed human being i have come across on blogs- no wonder you fitted in perfectly with the kenyan thugs and thieves while doing business in kenya

You Marianne Briner are a thug and thieve who made money using the former president and some groups of thugs in kenya- is it a wonder that you used sex to get your deals from the kenya elite!!
go shove your head in shiate and i hopw you never step back in kenya again- the type of individuals like you are not welcome - all you do when you go to African countries is to reap them blame and get deals using sex- seems to me you are looking for more black men to service you- you go to hell- i doubt if ever any kenyans man is interested in your filthy sex or what ever goods you are trying to peddle on kumekucha
shut up and move on!! we kenyans are tired of your nonsense- go sale your cheap wares in Europe or the States!!

  13. We all know who is the person being so desperate to talk about Marianne Briner:

it is Hellen Okello whose very husband has sleepless nights dreaming about making love to Marianne Briner.

Let me assure you, he can continue having wet dreams but they will never come true.

So, please, Hellen - stop this stupid game - Marianne Briner is not interested in your precious husband and never will be. She had and she still has better lovers.

  14. KUMEKUCHA, SASA HI MAMBO GANI? I LOVE READING YOUR POSTS BUT IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT MAJORITY OF COMMENTS DO NOT MEASURE UP.

BLOG ADMINISTRATOR PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT SOME OF THESE COMMENTS.

CAN'T YOU MODERATE OR AT LEAST DELETE THE NONSENSICAL BRINNER STUFF THAT POPS UP ON EVERY THREAD? WORKS VERY WELL TO KEEP AWAY IDLERS, WHO IN PURSUIT OF THEIR NEXT PREY ALWAYS TURN TO YOU.

    PEACE

  15. Let me say as much:

If you start a blog which talks about the private life of people and even take advantage of such a venture (just think about the socalled KENYAN DATE RAPE JOURNALIST JEFF KOINANGE) which went around the world and made this blog famous, you have to accept or at least learn to accept that you could also become a target - since this whole matter is a two-ways strategy ..... you cannot attack without accepting being attacked yourself.

That is something people here still don-t seem to understand.

Let me assure you, we live in a socalled cyber world.

This Blog has anyway outgrown your small Kenyan atmosphere.

That is a fact. Like it or not.
    It is still a fact.

And just in case, you wish to bring up again Marianne Briner-s name in all this:

forget it. She is and she always was way above this. You will never even come close to her world. Just give up and start dreaming about some other women...........¨¨

  16. Chris, This weekend the comments have reached all time low. Can you explain why?
This business with Marriane Brinner, could it be the one that's driving bloggers away.

  17. Yeah, there are rotten apples (I would say most) in the police as are good apples. Two incidents that happened to me illustrate this. I was in Eastleigh one night with a friend of mine and we were heading to our room back from a pharmacy we had in the same area. It was I think around 9 or 10. On the way, two policemen accosted us and the usual question pops up. Kipande! I had mine already and I showed them. My friend, sadly, didn't have his and he had to be held. He told me where his id was and I ran back to the house and brought it but the policeman would hear none of it. He told me, 'Umemletea, ashante! Enda!'. I was like 'what? 'Don't you want the id?' Anyway, to cut the long story short, the guy had to be freed later with a few hundred Kenya shillings. The other incident was once when I was looking for the embassy of Egypt and I was a bit confused. A policeman approached me and helped me with the direction. Not only that but he told me 'Usijali. Hutapotea kwa Kenya'. It was reassuring and a break from the usual image that pops up in your mind when a Kenyan policeman approaches you.
BTW, why is it that our policemen wear those uniforms that resemble the military ones? I know some wear different ones sometimes but wouldn't it be better if the policemen wore clothes that are distinct and are a bit reassuring to the public.

  18. Marianne was raped by Biwott, not Jeff Koinange. Sam Okello told us the secret, what went on in London. Sam, do you still have the surveillance pics from that hotel?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anon 11:08 AM - I have to disappoint you. The Legal Department of the Holiday Inn has given the survelliance tapes to Scotland Yard - since they believed that the whole matter had been a set-up and Jeff Koinange was paid by Biwott. Marianne Briner is a very clever woman with the right connections at the right places. That's why CNN believed her - besides the fact that Jeff Koinange had admitted to have raped her and asked for her apology in various mails. These mails had been monitored by CNN because Jeff Koinange - as stupid as he was - had sent them via the offical channels at Turner.com.

Sam Okello can scream to the sky - can continue having wet dreams - can do whatever he wants - it will not change the facts.......

The world has acknowlegded the fact that Jeff Koinange is a Rape Journnalist - not for the first time and I fear not for the last time either.

Jeff Koinange had a history to rape women - it's only because Marianne Briner went into the open with it, CNN was finally forced to take consequencies. Especially because she is a white woman whereas all the others before - mainly in Nigeria - had been black.
So CNN posted Jeff Koinange from Lagos to Johannesburg giving him a last chance - which obviously he decided to ignore.

That's the sad story of your esteemed Kenyan son....
who still dreams about becoming the President of Kenya latest in 2017..........

  20. Chris if you know in your heart that you have done nothing wrong then continue. This blog is too good to go off the air. I will continue reading it and will not bother about the comments. Keep on doing the good job.
Private lives of people should not bother you.

  22. Does Sassa Briner have children yet? Do they call you grandma?

  23. Why did your husband hit you with a divorce, Marianne? And who really is Sassa's daddy?

  24. What did you do with all the money you made in kickbacks, Marianne? And why did Dr. Airaghi sue you just before he died? Did you kill that man to make the case go away?

  25. I think answering the above questions will occupy the rest of your night. Meanwhile, let me give you some advice. Money stolen don't last long. You now live a life of a pauper in some dusty village in Andalucia, Spain, because God don't like people with sticky hands like you. Pleasant dreams, my dear!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have to disappoint you - all the accusations here against me are only demonstrating one thing:

You are all desperately trying to find something against me whereas you all know very well that you are in many ways far below me.

    Therefore my advise:

Use your stinking breath for your own stinking matters - there are a lot of them around you as you well know.

Try to occupy yourself with something positive, as difficult as it seems since the negative subjects are more than overwhelming right now.

Have a good night and sweet dreams wherever you are.
