Kenya's 'First Half Cabinet' Named

As predicted by Kumekucha a few days ago, Kibaki's part cabinet is named and our predictions are spot on.

This afternoon 'President' Mwai Kibaki made a live broadcast address to the nation:

" I am pleased to announce part of my Cabinet. In forming the Cabinet, I have considered the importance of keeping the country united, peaceful and prosperous under a strong, broad-based leadership. I am accordingly, naming the first half of my Cabinet as follows:"

(1) Vice President and Minister for Home Affairs - Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka,
(2) Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security, Office of the President- Hon. Professor George Saitoti
(3) Minister of State for Defence, Office of the President - Hon. Yussuf Mohamed Haji
(4) Minister of State for Special Programmes, Office of the President - Hon. Dr. Naomi Namsi Shaban,
5) Minister for Public Service, Office of the President -Hon. Asman Abongotum Kamama,
6) Minister for Finance - Hon. Amos Muhinga Kimunya
(7) Minister for Education - Hon. Professor Sam Ongeri
(8)Minister for Foreign Affairs - Hon. Moses Wetangula
9) Minister for Local Government - Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta
(10) Minister for Information and Communications - Hon. Samuel Lesuron Poghisio
(11) Minister for Water and Irrigation - Hon. John Munyes
(12) Minister for Energy - Hon. Kiraitu Murungi
(13) Minister for Roads and Public Works - Hon. John Njoroge Michuki, MP
(14) Minister for Science and Technology - Hon. Noah M. Wekesa
(15) Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs - Hon. Martha Karua
(16) Minister for East African Community - Hon. Dr. Wilfred Machage
(17) Minister for Transport - Hon. Chirau Ali Mwakwere

In brief, the president is telling ODM, President Kuffour, Gordon Brown, Desmond Tutu and Madam Fraser and all 4.5 million Kenyans who voted against him - YOU CAN GO TO HELL, I AM PRESIDENT.

Even as ODM shows goodwill by suspending protest rallies, the president is throwing mud at them by recalling parliament and naming his cabinet. The questions is: Is there need to continue negotiating with an individual who has shown over the last five years that he cannot honour agreement??

Analysis and comments to follow.

  1. Kibaki and the people around him are truly out of touch with reality. It will be instructive to see how Musyoka has any morals or backbone or not- will he accept his nomination or refuse it?

  2. Kibaki is asking Kenyans to sit in silence as he acts as dictator...wait for the country to erupt in the near future.

There's people always dying trying to keep them alive
There's bodies decomposing in containers tonight
    In an abandoned building where
The squatters made a mural of a Maasai girl
With fifteen cans of spray paint and a chemical swirl
She's standing in the ashes at the end of the world
Four winds blowing through her hair
But when great Satan's gone, the whore of State House
She just can't sustain the pressure where it's placed
    She caves
The Bible's blind, the Torah's deaf, the Koran's mute
If you burn them all together you get close to the truth still
They are pouring over Sanskrit on the ivy league moons
While shadows lengthen in the sun
Cast all the school and meditation built to soften the times
And hold us at the center while the spiral unwinds
    It's knocking over fences, crossing

Four winds, cry until it comes
And it's the sum of man
    Slouching towards Nairobi
A heart just can't contain all of that empty space
It breaks, it breaks, it breaks
Well, I went back by rented Cadillac and company jet
Like a newly orphaned refugee, retracing my steps
All the way to Kisumu to commune with the dead
They said, "You'd better look alive"
And I was off to old Eldy where a genocide sleeps
In the black hills, the bad lands, the calloused west
I buried my ballast, I made my peace
With four winds, levelling the escarpments of the great valley

But when great Satan's gone, the whore of State house,
She just can't remain with all that outer space
She breaks, she breaks, she caves, she caves.

  5. Anon @ 7.52: yes, will Musyoka accept or refuse. He is the same character who yesterday asked the President not to name his cabinet before negotiations.

Let us see if he preaches water and drinks wine.

  7. What sort of evil advisors does Kibaki have? This is no the time to jump the gun. All this gamesmanship can only exacerbate things. NOT NOW! PLEASE!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. My fellow Kenyans: Kibaki has just named the M.P.s who will not survive the next election.

That cabinet list is a political death wish; Kikuyu or non-Kikuyu.

  9. Phil,

Now you understand my frustration. That is why i am skeptical - the Cellar groups advice will come to naught.

Now, tell me. What next? Lets just go ahead with the mass action. We need a strategy for breaking the will of the GSU. Any suggestions?

  11. So no Luos in the cabinet?? I think cessation.

Anyway, let us see if the most religious and honest democratic fighter of the poor with extreme auspicious scouting abilities, i.e. Kalonzo Musyoka, will accept to serve in a government of thieves.

What remains now is the jostling of the remaining cabinet positions, an event orchestrated to bring out the greed in ODM. In my estimation, Raila's fist error was dropping the demand that Kibaki must resign prior to negotiations. It may not be very clear now, but such a blunder pretty much legitimizes Kibaki.

Mass action is the only solution. It's either mass action or lets burry the dream of change and concede to the powers that be.

  13. The petition, KIBAKI MUST STEP DOWN, http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/kibaki-must-step-down/signatures.html is really going fast. You will see the figure reaching millions of signatures in just a week

Kenyans of all goodwill have been signing.

I am not sure if Kibaki is interested in Kenya and I am wondering why he should behave like this.

This guy needs some "Adjustment" and political pressure.

I just feel sick to my stomach.....

  15. I am glad Kibaki went ahead and named the cabinet BEFORE the negotiations.

HE HAS SHOWN HIS TRUE COLOURS. I HOPE HIS SUPPORTERS ARE PROUD OF THEIR BOY!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yap!!!! Hope Kibaki supporters are proud.

We have a man for whom national integration means nothing and democracy even less.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Phil,

This is madness. You are right he is not up for negotiation at all.

Tabia aina dawa is all I can say.

Things are getting from bad to worse. I am gutted.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kalonzo must have been consulted before the appointment. Now who is opportunistic? In a weird (wicked?) way, this is good - as 8:03 has observed - Kibaki has shown his true colours and his lack of regard for the greater good.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Kalonzo Musyoka, his supporters and those others named in the cabinet do not have any dispute with the president. They are qualified, very qualified for the jobs offered to them. They do not need any instructions from ODM members (who feel Kenya revolves around them) to join or not to join the government. Phil says some 4.5 million voted for Raila Odinga. Well, the truth of the matter is that the 4.5 million you are talking about actually voted for Kibaki. As you rightly say, there is no point of negotiations about the elections or composition of the government. We have wasted a lot of time discussing non-issues. Let's move forward. Like I said, anybody not happy with what is happening has the right to proceed either to court or to hell.

  21. Vikii, Vikii, Vikii spare us! We are not idiots.

Democracy suffered an assault and right-minded Kenyans feel insulted.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Vikii we all know Kalonzo's professional POLITICAL PROSTITUTING has been going on for some time. We don't doubt his professional prowess in that area.

    It has obviously borne fruit.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Vikii,

Leave those of us who love our country to do something about it. This far, you are the most un-patriotic person i know.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This selfish idiot will burn this country to the ground, watch what happens? Whay we have witnessed so far in terms of violence is nothing compared to what is coming. He should have never done this before mediation. NO, everyone knows what are hsi real intentions, this madness must stop. Kenyans must come together to cripple his government completely. International countries must denounce this government and put on the record they do not recognise it as "legitimate"..

This is blatantly telling Kenyans go and do what you want, we will kill, maim and enrich ourselves when we want and how we want!

We need mass protests all over the country and continuously cripple every avenue of this government able to function!

My bet is the hyena "Kalonzo" will take this post, he has never once said that this government is "illegimate", this is exactly what he was talking about when he said "miracles" will happen!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Exactly; whose next in line for admission into Kibaki's brothel?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Vikkii, this is my first response to you: a 'go to hell' mentality like yours is precisely what ails the cradle of civilization.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Kalonzo you still have time; TURN DOWN THIS APPOINTMENT AND SHOW KENYANS YOU CARE!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mr. Anonymous, neither am I a foll. None of the 4.5 million and the 800000 who voted for Kibaki or Kalonzo is a fool. It is importat for you and your ilk to stop imagining you are the only Kenyans. You need to stop imagining you are the only one who matters in Kenya and you need to stop imagining you are any smarter than anybody here or elsewhere.

  30. This man is crazy!! Something is seriously wrong in his head. Why should we let these senile old men who have less than 5 years to live ruin our lives? There time is over, why are they so bent on destroying our futures? Will they take power and riches to their graves?

By naming this cabinet Kibaki, Lucy and Michuki have shown that they carry no love for their fellow kikuyus who are being slaughtered. This should be a lesson to kenyans, we should stop voting for tribes but look at the individual. You voted en masse for a man who couldnt care less if you are killed and your property destroyed as long as he achieves his selfish and macabre goals. Kenyans of all tribes should unite to kick out these dinosaurs and stop fighting each other. They dont care about us! By naming this cabinet this man has shown that he is against peace and reconciliation.

Kalonzo will be putting his last nail on his political coffin by accepting that post, and all the others too, they can kiss politics goodbye in 2012 if they accept the posts.

Chirau Ali Mwakwere, the whoring old pervert caught on camera on k/street. This man presided over the disintergration of all courtesy and etiquette on our roads. He is back!!

MICHUKI, oh my God, I feel like vomiting.

Can anybody now come out and say with a serious face that he or she supports kibaki?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Tis a pity the likes of Vikii surround our senile president.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Michuki moved to avoid claims of genocide. Saitoti was rigged so it will be easy to manipulate to kill since they helped him rig elections, this shows their is still a major protest in the way and they are getting well prepared for it. Since they messed well in rigging, they dont want to leave any Kenya for anybody to lead and its quite clear now. This is the time, but I worry, the situation wont be good at all. When soberness returns, nomatter how many years it will take, somebody will come out and confess for miss-advicing the president. THIS IS FUEL ADDED TO THE BURNING FIRE.

  33. The nightmare is playing out as we speak. When will this end. I urge ODM restraint. Don't stoop to the level of bandits.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Vikii, please give us viable options. The courts are a no-go-area for anti PNU/ODM-K operatives whereas Hell is where Kibaki sits. All the same, are you honestly happy and proud with the time-bomb Kibaki has created? Do you suppose there's any national healing needed?

    -Andy Capp-

    ReplyDelete
  35. When exactly is Saitoti going to retire? I remember him from my 8-4-4 days.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Andy Capp (Kalamari?), I have not said for once that I am happy with the situation in Kenya. But listen to Raila Odinga, who is leading the gang called ODM and tell me if he is genuinely interested in dialogue. He was invited to state house on Thursday and he said he is not going unless told to do so by John Kuffour (A guest of the state).

while till on this, what does the forming of the govt by Kibaki have to do with any mediation with ODM? They have said they are not willing to join Kibaki's govt. So their talks can only be aimed at withdrawing hooligans from the streets and nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am still WONDERING how Kibaki could have secured presidency in 2002 had it not been for RAILA and Rainbow dream.

Again, does Kibaki have KENYA in his heart. When everything is getting back to Normal, international mediation is on course, Why does he assault the minds of Others.

On top of that, why were there no problems when Kibaki was elected in 2002 and there is a problem when RAILA is elected in 2007?

Keep Wondering with me at my Blog.

    ReplyDelete
  38. To hell with Gefaki Man. I may as well suggest to the Luos, Luyhas, Kales, Mijikenda, Somalis and all those in Mombasa to seal the borders. None of these sickheads ministers should come around your provinces. Even Gefaki himself should fuckin stay in Nairobi and Central for good. We don’t want him and his dictatorship in our land.

Yes I’m saying this from my heart. If he is showing us this disrespect, then why don’t we disrespect him fully? Lucy, you last came to the western part of Kenya in December; make that the last one.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mwai Kibaki and those ministers (Some of whom may turn down the appointments) are Kenyans. They have a right to not only go to those areas you have named but to also own property there. They need nobody's permission to do that unless they are going to their HOMES.

    ReplyDelete
  40. "This is a country that is extremely polarised and there are some people who are extremely dejected by the performance of the Kenyan electoral commission," US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer said after completing a visit of western regions affected by electoral violence.

"I think that you need serious reform of the political institutions and you need some process of political accommodation to lower the tensions of the population before a rerun of an election would be an effective measure of who should govern the country."

  42. Well done Vikii. These ODM chaps think they can take over Kenya by force. Kibaki has done nothing wrong. If anything, he has left 16 seats open for mediation. I am told that constitutionally he couldnt open parliament without a cabinet. Why do ODM chaps cry foul when they also rigged in their areas? Why do ODM chaps think they are always right and it is their way or no way? Why do ODM chaps want to coerce Kibaki into running the country their way? They want to rule by proxy. To hell with them. Kenya mbele, politics nyuma!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I WAS A KIBAKI SUPPORTER but I am disheartened.

This sort of unilateral action and belligerence does not bode well for the future of this country.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Vikii; stop twisting the facts. ODM and all the religious groups invited had agreed to the Friday meeting with Kufuor acting as mediator.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Tom and Vikii do not surprise me. Every dictator has his supporters.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Exactly Tom. I for one would prefer an inclusive govt. But what is so fucking sickening is this stupid ODM mentality that their side enjoys 95% approval by Kenyans and so Kibaki should dance to their whimps. They say Kalonzo will lose in 2012 as if the ODM had anything with his getting elected. Let us face it, Raila and ODM enjoy the support of 43% of Kenyans. That certainly is not the proportion of the population that should get everybody coming for instructions from them. Kenya is and will always be bigger than the ODM or any other political party for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Vikii the fact remains that the democratic process was derailed in 2007.

You may rejoice now but the harm that was done will come back to bite you in the not too distant future.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It would be nice if Vikii could write without effing...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous, I have never supported a dictator and never will. It is you who is suppotrting a dictator of the Idd Amin model. Ask Musalia Mudavadi if you do not believe me.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It also appears that Vikii does not realise that the figures she is quoting in support of Kibaki mean nothing.

THE ELECTIONS WERE RIGGED - PERIOD.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Vikii you are supporting a dictator. Idi Amin was a dictator and so is Kibaki.

I find it interesting that you picked Idi Amin. Apparently, you subconsciously believe every Nilote is a dictator.

Vikii in short you are also a BIGOT.

    ReplyDelete
  52. There is nothing like some harm biting me. I am not planning to join government soon. I believe elections were rigged by PNU and ODM. I had nothing to do with either of those parties. I am a member of ODMK. When the two big parties rig the elections and the less smart one in the game of rigging loses then turns around crying foul, I cant help but laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  53. There you go, u always dash to the "tribe" when you cant argue. I am a proud bigot then, a very proud one.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Precisely Vikii!!!!! Thanks for outing yourself. We have all been waiting for this moment.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Vikii, I have always believed you were a bigot. My appreciation to you for vindicating me.

    ReplyDelete
  56. didn't you all read the report by the americans; the election was rigged by both parties. Which part of both parties don't you all understand???? The sooner you accept the fact the better. Accusations should go to ODM too. But then this is ODM blog, so they cannot be tarnished here.

  58. And I am happy that you are happy. I know you have been waiting for it because according to you all those who voted for Kibaki are kikuyus and all those who voted for Kalonzo are kambas. 60. Unfortunately, the announcement of the new cabinet has already resulted in fresh breakouts of violence (BBC)...

    ReplyDelete
  61. Mwandishi, Kalonzo's CV is even shorter than Raila's: Ford-Ford Kenya-NDP-KANU-Rainbow Alliance-LDP-ODM-ODMK-ODM. On top of that, as much as Kalonzo was a 'high ranking Kanu official, there is no rank higher than that of secretary general which was Raila's not so long ago. Who is a bigger political prostitute now?

    ReplyDelete
  62. No sane human being can support kibaki after this, however heavily blinded by tribal chauvinism he or she might be. It is just impossible.

I am one of those who fell into the trap and voted for this monster but now i regret it deeply.

Raila should continue fighting for democracy peacefully, fight for the reduction of the salary of MPs and ministers and for the scrapping off completely of lucys salary. We dont need her she is doing us more harm than good so i dont know why we should employ her.

Raila should fight for democracy and expose corruption and if he doesnt win the elections with a landslide in 2012 I will burn my kenyan passport! Kenyans will prove to be very sick people with very short memories and extremely stupid when it comes to tribes and all that crap which doesnt put food on the table nor does it pay the rent.

The man doesnt care about us, our property is being destroyed and our peopel killed and maimed, why support him? He is using us, we should wake up and unite with other kenyans to reject these beasts.

    ReplyDelete
  63. God save this nation

Vikii says 43% supports ODM, and that being the case, their grievances do not count, since the rest support Kibaki and Kalonzo.

    For God Sake!

This thing is not about ODM or PNU or etcs. Its simply about the way election was handled.

Am i supposed to call a PNU supporter a thief since he supports the fact that Kibaki is in power, whether by robbery or whatever means?

Or am i supposed to call an ODMer a hooligan because they do not know how to protest?

The whole issue boils down to mistrust amongst ordinary kenyans. and yes it is 43% against the rest. That is 6 provinces against two.

Lets all put ODM/PNU aside. This thing is about saving this nation. let whatever sense of 'pseudo justice' be seen to be happening!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Mwana Ndizi: you miss the point entirely.

    a) ODM along with the invited churches and SUPKEM had agreed to meet Kufuor on Friday to negotiate with the government.

    b) The point of the negotiations was not simply a GNU but constitutional and institutional reforms for the sake of all Kenyans and democracy.

What good is it, brushing away this problem when even ECK that all Kenyans believe is at fault is not changed? We wait for 2012 for a repeat of the same?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Vikii I hope you have seen the response to Mwana Ndizi above.

Your divisive politics are most discouraging.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Vikii, let us be sober today. In your opinion, what is the way forward? Would you prefer that we pretend there's no crisis and move on like nothing happened? If you accept that there's a crisis, is your only solution the court system? If so, are you suggesting that the courts are credible and will handle this issue with the fairness it deserves?
Do you consider yourself a constitutionalist?

    -Andy Capp- Kala….

    ReplyDelete
  67. Constitutional reforms do not need to be arrived at in Statehouse. They do not need aided by people like John Kuffour. The last time I checked, that was the work of parliament. The Parliamentary select committe on the constitution can be reconstituted after which it can draw a road map to the overhaul of the constitution. What is the mediation about then?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Vikii Kenya is on the brink of civil war now more than ever. The manner in which we conduct ourselves now is critical.

As Andy Capp says, we all (PNU, ODM ETC.) agree there were serious problems with the elections. There are also serious problems permeating the very institutions that ought to be safeguarding democracy.

What is wrong with facing these problems head on for the sake of a peaceful Kenya?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Vikii,

This is not good anyway you look at it.

If you look at the big picture, what is Kibaki planning for 2012 after all this drama?

Will ODM-K survive this on slot from PNU and KANU ?

What is Moi's hand in all this, now that he is back in Kenya from Germany?

What will happen to all the Kikuyus living in Rift valley after all is said and done ?

Will we ever trust each other as neighbors again?

Government of National Unity aka "NARC DREAM": we have been there done that and the results were not that pretty.

By the way isn't Kibaki head of something called Party of National Unity YANI "PNU"?

    So why didn't it work?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Kalamari, before I give you my suggestion, I will challenge you to first give me a better route than the court route.

We have had Raila Odinga and all the other fellows in parliament for decades, why did they not pass bills to the effect that all presidential appointments are supposed to be confirmed by parliament. You cannot keep crying the court system is rotten when you have been in a position to change that for sixteen years. IIt is just laughable.

    ReplyDelete
  71. OK, so now what do you propose Roy? All you are writing there are grievances but I am yet to see anybody tell me why it was wrong for Kibaki to name a cabinet.

    ReplyDelete
  72. 7 out of the 17 cabinet appointments are in critical places (e.g. security, roads, finance, justice, energy, president, local gov, etc).

and the 7 are all to people from one region.

was this the national face kibaki spoke of.

    President- Kibaki
    Finance- Kimunya
    Local gov- Uhuru
    Security- Saitoti
    Energy- Kiraitu
    Justice- Karua
    Roads- Michuki

    meanwhile, kamba got 1, kisii 1, turkana 1, taita 1, coast 1, somali 1, luyia 1, etc

while mt. kenya has 7. out of 17.

    ReplyDelete
  73. This Vikii is a Stone Age tribal pussyfooter who thinks by vomiting on people's shoes here in Kumekucha, she will seem to be tough. No wonder fools have the loudest voice. It was Hertzler ho quipped: "Why fools are endowed by nature with voices so much louder than sensible people possess is a mystery. It is a fact emphasized throughout history." Girl, it is not about ODM or Raila or such for your information, it is about our future we the Kumekuchans too and looking at how things are handled, it seems fossils like Kibaki and senior political masqueraders and prostitutes like Kalonzo don't care about the future of Kenya. A Kenya where our children will be born in, bred in and buried in. You are silly and saddening. Blind allegiance to certain people or unequalled hatred to others is a mark of fools whose inane heads are filled with unprofitable stuff. You can repeat yourself one million times vomiting on Kumekuchans as you foolishly tear into everyone who believes that Kibaki's step is not in the right direction, but no one ones expects tribal pussyfooters and Stone Age "intellectuals" of your ilk to give words of wisdom. If you think the fire that Kibaki is igniting is geniusness and a mark of bravery, wait for you shall see whom it consumes. Huh!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Vikii regardless of what you think. The mediation efforts should have gone on. They would have resulted in a framework for legislative and institutional changes for the sake of democracy...a road map of sorts.

We needed something our leaders agreed to work on in the short and long-term while life normalized.

The cabinet is a spanner in the works.

    ReplyDelete
  75. And do you anything better than those old tired defeatist fits of verbal diarrhoea??

    ReplyDelete
  76. Vikii your political parochialism is one of the causes of the current crisis.

As Caleb implies, this is not about PNU or ODM. It is about democracy.

We ought to have focused on coming up with concrete measures (ref. Anon @ 9.19) for posterity.

IF WE DEVELOP GOOD DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS - IT WON'T MATTER MUCH WHO CONTROLS THEM IN FUTURE.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Mr. Anonymous, tell me why you think mediation cannot go on with the announcement of the partial cabinet.

  78. Exactly Anon at 9.22, right now one of those institutions: ECK cannot be trusted.

The incumbent always chooses its commissioners before jumping into the race as a competitor.

Surely, we need far reaching reforms.

  79. Vikii,

All the best, I hope the guys in Rift valley will see your point and not act in rage tonight.

Bottom line, you miss the whole point.

Congrats to ODM-K and see you in 2012 if your party will still be around after all this.

That is if we ever have another General Elections,GOSH !!!!

    This is crazy......

    ReplyDelete
  80. Vikii the government is not interested in mediation. It has already announced that Kufuor will only be in the country for less than 24 hours.

The cabinet is a SYMBOL of Kibaki's belligerence. Many Kenyans will perceive of it as such and therein lies the problem esp. because it leads (has led) to renewed violence.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Exactly Anonymous. And why do you think we cannot develop good democratic institutions after the cabinet is named? Parliament is convening next week and they can embark on just that. The ODM, the partyt that claims to be more democratic than all other parties has an overwheling majority in that parliament. That should get us "democratic institutions" within months if not weeks, dont u think?

  83. Vikii,

I give up. It is impossible to reason with ODMers. The claim Kibaki rigged the election, period. But, if at all Kibaki rigged, so did ODM, so that's a moot point. But they cant see that basic fact. They former PNU supporters who are now cowed into backing ODM cant see that ODM are the ones who started the violence, in the hope that it would cow Kibaki and kikuyus. I repeat, Raila and co will not force themselves to the country's leadership. Did you see how desperate Kosgey looked at KICC, no doubt thinking of all the billions he would loot from kenyans again?

    ReplyDelete
  84. But Anonymous, we cannot be guided by perceptions. Hooligans (You have talked of fresh violence) cannot hold people at ransom. Their violence is inexusable and mark my words, it will be short lived. For heavens sake we have a police force.

  85. Vikii you know very well that the party most interested in reforms: ODM does not have the numbers it needs to push those reforms through. Kibaki has shown his disregard for the law and since his election, he has shown he is not interested in working with others.

Kenya is reaching a deadlock real fast and unfortunately, the President doesn't seem bothered.

  86. Vikii,
I wrote to you the note below on Sunday but you conveniently refused to respond. Now I'm beginning to think I am a prophet (of "doom"). At that time it never occurred to me that Kalonzo would be that powrer greedy to even contemplate sitting with Kibaki on the same table. I now need a stronger word than "greedy" to describe him aptly. Please Vikii, use all the diplomacy and influence you can muster and tell that sadist of a man to refuse to take that job of VC until the elections fiasco can be sorted out by te many international negitiators who are 100 times better than him. If he boasts of helping in somalia and Sudan, why do we still hear of militia and Darfur crisis respectively. Being the prophet of doom that I am, I prophesy that Kibaki will give Kalonzo a hard time by ignoring him and listening to his golfing buddies. Kalonzo will be so isolated that he will begin to complain. At that time nobody will want to listen to him. He will start talking well of Raila and by then the 2012 elections will have arrived and he will have no chance of winning at all. ODM-K will have disintegrated and all his sychophants will have deserted him and joined Raila's side. WATCH THIS SPACE IN 2012!!!

"Hey, Vikii, help, HELP. You preferred presidential candidate, Mr. Kalonzo "Holier than thou, Diplomat, Mr. Clean, The Lawyer, miracle, wiper" Musyoka has arrogantly said the following:
    1. That he does not regret putting pressure on Kivuitu to prematurely announce flawed results.
    2. That he is against having international mediation in the Kenyan saga.
    3. That ODM and PNU rigged results and he's the only one who played it clean.
    4. That the suggestion of having a run-off between Kibaki and Raila will not work because (being the refined lawyer) he will go to court to say that Kibaki does not qualify for another term because he will have been sworn in office twice.

These things Kalonzo said ironically after attending a Church service today in which they prayed for peace, understanding and reconciliation in the country.
Kalonzo disgusts me every time he and his bootlicker Kilonzo open their mouths. I dare even say that Kibaki and Raila are power hungry, but he is power greedy. Does he realise that he can only talk on behalf of Kambas who make a paltry 4% of the Kenyan population? Why does he always pose like he is very intelligent, yet he is not? Why does he pose as a pious man, yet his fruits are green and with worms inside? How can he with one side of the mouth say that he is an experienced international peace-maker for Somalia and Sudan and with the other side say that Kenya does not international mediation? Is he aware of the quantity of blood of Kenyans that has been spilt by the mere announcement of Kivuitu's fake results as he arrogantly says he has no regrets for pressurizing him? Can you please tell Kalonzo that he will NEVER be Kenya's president? And please tell him to keep his big mouth shut while people mourn and try to think peace and reconciliation. Why are these Kambas {Kalonzo, Kilonzo, Kivuitu, Mutua, Kianga) seemingly enjoying the suffering of Kenyans? Infact, Kalembe Ndile is, surprisingly, the only Kamba who is currently speaking sensibly. Kalonzo must speak like a diplomat he thinks he is. he even lied in the press that he had met with Raila. Then I saw him hugging Koskey and Orengo while smiling wryly at them just before they were teargassed while trying to go to Uhuru Park yesterday. What will happen when Raila will, after negotiations or run-off, become the president? Will Kalonzo begin cheating us how they have always been friends with Raila so that he can be included in Govt? Atalia na jicho moja. Please Vikii, tell Kalonzo to smarten up, read the mood in Kenya, stop being power greedy and show some modicum of patriotism."

  89. I feel sad. There are many well meaning Kibaki haters on this blog. They have good intentions but lack balanced reasoning. The ODM propaganda machine has worked so well on them that they swallow everything anti-Kibaki with their mouths wide open, instead of checking facts and using balanced reasoning. If Kibaki is a dictator, Raila is a tyrant. Why should Kibaki play fair if Raila and ODM have never played fair? Why, why why?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Remember when Kalonzo was criticizing the Kibaki now he's ready to go to bed with him, I stated earlier that he would wait for orders form his daddy (moi) or wait for new one from his step-daddy Kibaki. Kalonzo has been exposed. Vikii I'll refrain from insulting you personally as it would not be worth the effort nor is it warranted, but your comments are quite provoking. I will however state that Kalonzo is a little boy not fit to lead, no wonder ODM-K was eager for the results to be announced as well, they had already cut their deals as many in this blog had predicted, his role in the rigged election was to split votes and then after performing fellatio on Kibaki and his key allies he would get his position. Now having "swallowed" his um pride his miracle has arrived!

They know that hatred is their only weapon. First it was anti-kikuyu, now its anti-kamba, anti-kisii, anti-somali and anti-luhya, simply because people in these communities voted for kibaki or kalonzo. If not checked, ODM inspired hatred will consume all of kenya.

  104. Vikii:

I admire your tenacity. You should have realized that there is nothing Kibaki can do (short of a mea culpa and resigning ) that would appease some of the court jesters on Kumekucha.

Now that the killing has stopped (abated??) I am enjoying watching the strategic chess match that is unfolding. I must say that after initially appearing to be lost in the woods, Kibaki's moves of the last few days are looking increasingly astute.

There are some good moves that Raila can make but throwing his toys away and saying that he won't talk is not one of them in my opinion.

If there is nothing short of a total Kibaki capitulation and the coronation of Raila that will please folks here, then I must tell them well in advance that they will be disappointed. A negotiated solution is possible but that will involve give-and-take Kibaki will not walk away and hand the presidency over to Raila short of another election.

    My thoughts.

    -Silaha

    ReplyDelete
  105. Silaha, what i refuse is all this cheap intimidation by these characters. I wrote many commentys here couple weeks before the elections and said that when Kibaki wins, hooligans will take to the streets. I also wondered how anybody would honestly expect the president to surrender the presidency just because hooligans are looting in Nakumatt. That was weeks b4 the elections and my opinion of the ODM has not changed an inch. Very optimistic brothers these ones who expect people to get cowed by stones and insults.

I had long resigned myself to Kibaki for another 5 years. What I will do not wish to give up on are legislative and democratic reforms for the good of democracy.

My suggestion: let us start with ECK. We can no longer have a commission that is constituted by the incumbent.

I too flew in to vote (Los Angeles-Nbi really expensive). The unfortunate thing in all this is that PNU supporters don't see the need to change anything. They are happy with their cabinet and president.

Short-term thinking; long running and deep seated problems will continue.

    ReplyDelete
  117. 1.If Kalonzo means well for the country, one would think he would insist first on Raila and Kibaki squaring out their differences before he joins his cabinet.

    2. Since he has indicated that ODM/PNU rigged elections and he his the only Mr. Clean, why is he accepting the VP offer to be part of a PNU govt that he agrees rigged the election? Talk about small talk by small minds!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Some people like Vikii can't answer simple questions:

    Q1.

Raila won 6 out of 8 provinces.Kibaki won only 1.
    How come he won?

    Q2.

Raila's ODM got more than 103 seats in the parliament.Gefakis group won 43+some few from affiliate parties.

    How come he won?

    Q3.
How did Gefaki won when even
International and domestic observers have raised their concerns.

There are several reasons to be suspicious about the official results:

The results were delayed for more than a day, at a time when ODM candidate Raila Odinga was leading

Many thousands of people seem to have only voted in the presidential election but not the parliamentary or local polls held at the same time.

Some of these results came from areas known to be pro-Kibaki
In the parliamentary race, Mr Odinga's ODM won twice as many seats as Mr Kibaki's Party of National Unity (PNU)

Results in some constituencies were different when announced nationally, to when they had previously been announced locally
The head of the election commission has admitted that turnout in one constituency was 115%.

  119. Guys. lets ask ourselves some pertinent questions. Much as it was a very serious question Chris asked, I couldnt help laughing. 'Nime Rig, Muta do?' and that question still stands. Whether we believe Kibaki rigged or not, apart from voicing our opinions here. What will we do? Or what will you do? I believe both sides rigged but its not possible to tell how much it affected the outcome. But like i said. We can argue here all we like. Tommorow we will go to work. And come home and so on for next 5 years. I doubt any of us here will be found in Uhuru park when theres bullets and teargas flying around so. What are we going to do other than talk?

Secondly. I believe a minister can only be appointed from SITTING Mps. Right now the MP's are not sitting. They are MP's elect? they have not been sworn in? Is it constitutional to appoint a cabinet before the MP's have been sworn in? Someone help me out.

  122. Vikii,

I have already said that by being awake 24hrs in order to rubbish every comment here on Kumekucha will not sell your prepossessed and tragically wrenched points. Dismissing people as ODM hooligans is a base insult that unearths your level of intelligence, and I would remind you again that fools have had the loudest voice since man was created. There are many people who are really worried about the prospect of a civil war in Kenya and they have never been ODM supporters including myself. Despite that, if an ODM-er has a point, since he has a stake in the Nation, he/she must be accorded respect and his points take into consideration. Kibaki agreed to meet the Pentagon; then went ahead and made some jokes. It is tantamount to eating a man’s lunch, inviting him to dinner to appease him some and then proceeding to eat the dinner before he gets there. I don’t know if you were taught talking too much and simply resisting sensible ideas leads to victory (you seem be one). Then Kibaki filled all the important ministries and furthermore filled it will fellow tribesmen. It is a challenge to the nation and to all the sane Kenyans including myself who have supported him though I didn’t vote. If your father goes wrong, you must tell him the truth. I’m not fed by Kibaki nor Raila and whoever takes Kenya the Rwanda way will not get our support. The question is: who is more arrogant? It is Kibaki. You don’t leave your father beating your mum simply because he is your dad. You must admit that Kibaki is very wrong in appointing his illegal cabinet, and admit that his cabinet doesn’t represent the true face of Kenya and admit that he is being driven by arrogance and base desires that will make him come down tumbling like a house of cartoons, otherwise continue parroting here and dismissing everyone as if your intelligence is measured by how much you vomit on Kumekuchans.

  125. Raila Odinga said he hoped international mediation could solve the crisis. He says the vote was rigged in favour of President Mwai Kibaki.

But Mwai Kibaki is trying to play with FIRE.

"What Kibaki has done is really eroding the conditions for peace talks," Karuti Kanyinga, a political scientist at the University of Nairobi, said of the new Cabinet.

"For a government of national unity to have meaning, it must include Odinga and (Odinga's party), otherwise it cannot bring about reconciliation."

  132. Vikii has taken off after the heat became unbearable to him. We may look mediocre, but the people reading our concerns will see a common thread: Kibaki stole the votes in broad daylight (Moi was much better in this game than him), blocked any avenues for feedback, went ahead announcing and organizing completely oblivious of the reality on the ground, and now wants to put us to great embarassment by behaving badly in the presence of dignitaries such as Kuffor, Chissano, Frazer.

PNU rigged the votes for ODM in some areas so that when the thing goes to court, they can say ODM also rigged-and they will have the "evidence." We were told long before the election day that PNU had sent people abroad to print counterfeit ballot papers. No alleagations were made against ODM pre-election. Even if ODM rigged, why then can't Kibaki allow recount /re-tallying of votes or a re-run? Could it be that PNU rigged more and will therefore still be guiltier? Kalonzo also suffers from guilt by omission. He knows rigging was done in his turf (read Kambaland) and he is not complaining because he knows what side of his bread is buttered.

By the way, is this the CLEAN HANDS cabinet we were promised? If Saitoti and Kiraitu are clean, then who is dirty? Secondly, if 17 Ministers are only half of what Kibaki intends to have as his cabinet, dose this mean that the full cabinet will have 34 Ministers? Kweli kazi inaendelea. He promised the women at least a third of the seats and a higher presence of youth. How many have you counted? Aaaah, I'm going to vomit.

Kalonzo, where is your miracle? You said you would pass BETWEEN Raila and Kibaki. Now you have gone BEHIND Kibaki. You shall not use the name of the LORD in vain, says the 2nd commandment.

  141. Seven Kikuyus out of Seventeen???!!!! Kiraitu??? Government of clean hands???? Raila has my perpetual blessings for a whirlwind of nationwide mass action activities. Kenyans must refuse this blatancy of tribalism and deceit.

Frankly, even PNU enthusiasts must be disappointed.

  142. Okay sawa sawa! ODM'ers, KUMEKUCHA and all pro-ODM in this blog (Phil and Chris), the government and the Kenyan people have decided to move on with the peace and reconciliation efforts.
This is to show that the propaganda being posted here is nothing but a lot of crap mainly from pro-ODM sympathizers. Kenyans are peace loving people and i will not be surprised if captain goes down the same route this Friday.

  143. Flash back to 1988. Kibaki was quoted saying that rigging requires intelligence!
    His people forgot this
THis is the most single factor that is taking Kenya to a civil war. What a tragedy
Whatever Kibaki and Raila agree, they must show the voter some form of justice.
The voters did their bit, but the politicians are trying to abuse their fundamental rights-choice and choosing of their leaders
    Democracy becomes a victim here.
It is the Kenyan voter who lost on 30th December. Sadly, with a long term consequency to the various peoples of Kenya

  144. Kibaki could not have done this without the full backing from United States, UK and the foreign investors. TheSE four groups of people ARE WORKING TOGETHER AND do not want Odinga in power. Full stop!

The other tribes might as well hang themselves. Elites in Kibaki's group,United States, UK and the foreign investors have so much interest in Kenya's natural resources and they are not ready to share them with other tribes of Kenya. This regime is going to be ultra brutal!!!

Remember what happened to Patrice Lumumba and introduction of Mobutu.
Democratic Republic of Congo's curse has been it vast natural resources the WEST feels belong to them. There are slums everywhere in DRC while the resources are making foreingers and few elites in power very very very rich. The African in DRC have been brutalized by the Belgians, Mobutu and the western powers with interest in vast Minerals in that republic. This may continue untill all these resources are exhausted.

Too bad for those in Kenyans who wanted change. Well, it is not going to happen. So go home and wait for your death.

  146. Kalonzo has officially accepted the VP post and promises to bridged the gap between Kibaki and Raila.

He was very happy at the appointment and people from his region are over joyed at his appointment.

    -KTN-

The big question is how long before Kibaki turns against him ?

Or is this a plan to back Kalonzo for 2012 against ODM?

  148. There is order to what appears to be madness... this is actually his exit strategy. have Kalonzo be president when he resigns midway.

    ReplyDelete
  149. You have to look at this treachery by Kalonzo in the context of this statement he made sometime last year during the wrangles in the then formidable ODM-K.

“Raila has refused to make me President, so I too will not make Raila President” end of quote.

His actions of urging Kivuitu to declare a winner in a flawed poll and accepting the VP’s position are effectively the last nails in his political coffin.

  151. Kenyans: Aluta Continua!!!
Kibaki is blind but sly: But open your eyes and PROVE ME WRONG in the year 2012.

Kalonzo will accept the vice-presidency on Thursday 10th of January or earlier. But in 2011 January, Kibaki will throw him out of the cabinet will be replaced by Uhuru Kenyatta.

Uhuru Kenyatta will contest presidency and will "win" in 2012 after a more intelligent rigging involving IT-professionals. The country will be in a mess and more than 5000 people will die, mainly Kalenjins, Luhyas, coastal people and Luos. Our country will see a crisis not yet seen in Africa before.

Fellow Kenyans, do you want this future for your children? Why is it important to you that this or that individual from this or that tribe rules? Is it not important that politicians respect the constituition of the land?

What matters to me is that any president follows the regulations set down. Fellow Kenyans, Kibaki, Kalonzo, Uhuru are proving to us that they dont respect us (we are the country).

Find away of protesting, your tribal interest should not overrule your intelligence. THINK deeply to heal Kenya.

If anyone of these elements is denied, a different, fatal result will rule the day i.e. civil war, anarchy, etc.
    Peace to all!

  153. The good work must go on regardless. the country will not stand still as we await for raila conditions to be met.
As I told you, kenyans are looking for somedirection and the way forward on this issue. At the same time we want justice for all kenyans but not the point where the country is ina total stand still. the economy cannot be left pending for raila to be formalised as the president.
Naming the cabinet is not really an issue now whatever and the timing of it is meaningless to the issue at hand. Kibaki did the right thing, otherwise we would have an economy with no direction and lots of strive on top.
Lets step into another chapter "justice for kenyans" my dear kenyans. whoever the president is Kibaki or Raila, let us not fall into propaganda that will lead to the downfall of this great nation

  154. Look now who is behaving like green horns? ODM.

While ODM is sitting pretty waiting for "talks", PNU is busy entrenching itself. Where does ODM get this crazy idea that Kibaki is going anywhere? Where? Do you think Kibaki will leave the presidency willingly? Kibaki said so many times before the elections (and most of you thought he was senile, that "mtakaa hapo hapo, sisi tutakaa hapa hapa.." )

ATI: US/UK want talks of peace! Wake up, even the US is fighting in Iraq, for "freedom", they say. Yet here, ODM is being made to think that peace is the all too valuable must have. If people of Kenya (non GEMA of course) feel they have no freedom, do you have to get a Mzungu to tell you what to do?

Who would have questioned the Mau Mau fighting for their land and freedom? Only the oppressors of that time, the British. Who will question if the Kaleos, Luos, luhyas are fighting for their freedom? The Oppressors of course. That people, if the reality.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Vikii is a man, Kibaki is a mzungu, Raila is a saint, savior and redeemer and Kivuitu is a very fair young man, plus Chris of Kumekucha is PNU enthuast who loves peace in his blogs(born again), and Marianne Brinner is a virgin, Sam Okello is a ugandan pastor (wait, that is true, so I guess I have to change that...)...u see the drift right?

  156. Annon @ 12.39 I agree, at the end of the day the cabinet of the people will be elected in due course. However, i do not disagree with the current cabinet and I have faith that sense will prevail in Friday's meeting. The good work must go on with or without Kibaki or Raila.

    ReplyDelete
  157. MR Odinga knows very that Kibaki had no choice but to name a cabinet. Any rensposible leader will do the same thing otherwise we will have a country withoput a direction or a way forward. without a cabinet, there would be chaos and more internal instability. I think it was the right thing to do while we sort out the Kibaki/Raila Issue

Please get the point right. The matter is not between Raila and Kibaki.

The matter is between Kibaki (the thief) and the majority of Kenyans. If you dont sort out the root cause of this matter then you will encounter more ugly events in Kenya in the year 2012.

Criminals should not be left to go scott free, otherwise many immitators will follow.

  162. News just in. Kalonzo has accepted his position:

"We have been consulting, we have been in touch with other parties," he said. Kalonzo, who was on Tuesday evening appointed the Vice-President, said he would use his position to reconcile the country, which has been rocked by political upheaval since the announcement of presidential results.

"As a VP I want to take a lead to reconcile this nation to ensure we have a safe and prosperous country," he told The Standard at his Karen home. Thanking President Kibaki for the appointment, Kalonzo said his party’s position has not changed, saying he has been on record for a coalition government with any party.

Anyway, Kibaki is simply consolidating his government. Expect some ODMers to bulk at the 17 ministerial offers left and the over $10000 a month salary plus stipends. Kibaki is banking that Kenyan's greed over their patriotism and so called democratic principles. Soon, Raila will be left in the cold all by himself.

Remember those death raw convicts who were left out by the state just before elections, the state claiming they escaped - think again before you start blaming pple - but I still maintain bishops are a sham. The state calls them in to pour ice on the wounds they have inflicted - the oldest trick for Governments in distress is to kill thier own people and blame it on thier so called " enemies ". This Govt is so determined that they will kill thier own and blame it on others, THATS WHAT YOU ARE DEALING WITH

  185. The only organisation that could perpetuate the crime is GOK - Like any crime analyse the motive, opportunity and reason, I dare put it to you if it was Ruto he could have done it before the election to create mas exodus , but the timming was just after the election and organised with precision - covert operatives - to divert attention of the fix the GOK was on and justify the killings and extra judicial activities the govt was doing. Analyse the motive and oportunity before you apportion blame.

I have no apologies to make to anybody. I do not buy that movement's way of seeing things and never will. Can someone once again tell me why Kibaki was wrong in naming his cabinet and how that becomes a justification for hooliganism and thuggery?

    ReplyDelete
  190. Vikii can you chat now? I'm online-manzi wa Nyeri

    ReplyDelete
  191. Calling you unprintable epithets is not smart. But maybe telling you that Kibaki never stole the election is. And may I add that he's perfectly in order to call the Parliament to session, and to use the GSU to disperse protesting Kenyans, and to form a Cabinet before mediation, and to name as vice president a man who brought in 17 MPs, and to dish all the crucial Cabinet posts to Kikuyu henchmen, and is now set to introduce impunity in Kenya. All that is just fine with you, Vickii, because you know what? The dictatorship of a brother is not dictatorship. But what will you say when the shoe is in the other foot? Maybe you think you'll be dead by 2017 and you won't have to witness a reversal of fortunes. I pray that God give you a long life.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I spent a few hours this evening googling Mutahi Ngunyi and I am amazed at his prescience.
I have a write up on him on my blog. Read it and join me in saying "Wow!"

Here is a sample of his words written before the election.

If ODM wanted to ‘win’, they should have planned to ‘lose’. And if they had ‘lost’, this country would be in a different place today. The uprising against Kibaki and the only province that voted ‘Yes’ would have been overwhelming.
If you drive the Kikuyus against you in an election, their numbers will frustrate you. With the magic of incumbency, all Kibaki needs is an alliance with a small tribe and he has the election bagged. This is why an alliance between him and Kalonzo Musyoka would be sexy.
[Addressing Raila] Kibaki will not win this election. You will lose. My hunch is that your lack of inhibitions will result in a fatal error.
If you become King, it will be because the Kalenjins said so. Of the ODM vote, 50 per cent is Kalenjin. In other words, they have 50 per cent share in ODM. They are not voting for Raila: they are voting against President Kibaki. It is a protest vote.
Similarly, they have gleefully settled on the idea of William Ruto becoming president in 2027, after you and Musalia Mudavadi. Sir, this kind of high sacrifice does not make sense in politics. My conclusion? The Kalenjins are deeply wounded by Kibaki.
My counsel to you is this: Keep them hostage to the anger against Kibaki. Their wounds must not heal, and they must not break away from the anger spell. This is important because, apart from the anger, they have nothing else against Kibaki.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Can someone once again tell me why Kibaki was wrong in naming his cabinet and how that becomes a justification for hooliganism and thuggery?

It was wrong because with just a little consideration he would have realized that it is a bad provocation at this point in time.

And I'm not looking through tiny ODM lenses. We did vote for Raila but not because we were so enchanted by him. As my husband - a Kikuyu - so aptly put it: we don't know if we can trust Raila but we know for sure we cannot trust Kibaki. As for me he was out of grace the minute he cuddled up with Moi, honorless old hyena.

As it seems now, neither Kibaki nor Raila give a hoot about the people, certainly not for the small people.
All they want is power, both of them.

I feel sorry for my husband. He suffered a great deal under the Moi regime, then found out that Kibaki was nothing but a cheap Kenyatta copy and now he realizes that Odinga plays the tribal card to heat up tribal warfare even worse than Moi did it in 1992. And folks in Kenya still have not learned that in the end there are only two tribes in the country: the rich and the poor.

At times I wonder how he keeps his Kenyan pride upright.

Sorry but I'm mad as hell!
