  1. Why isn't ODM asking for the international observers to verify these allegations. The international Observers have always had high visibility in previous elections. Not a single words from them.

  2. Oh my, I am a fervent Raila supporter, but this is getting scary. I doubt that Michuki is going to hold such a process and will it be legal. He will end up falling into the trap of being labelled as a trouble maker. Isn't this virtually a coup. I know people will claim this is an Orange revolution but can't we seek more peaceful means!

  3. Ill advised, lives will be lot and yet they can chill, go Bunge and because he has the numbers, pass vote of no confidence and no lives are lost.

  5. This is not good. This is setting the stage for alot of bloodshed. There is already blood on Kibaki's hands. Raila should not try to soil his with the same blood.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Who will do the swearing in? Will it be legal? Let us not get carried away with our emotions here!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hey, for the guy asking about he international observers. The international observers have already questioned the credibility of the election and the said it doesn't tally with the real results. Please see aljazeera.net/english and BBC Africa form more on that.

  8. No, dont do that. It is not called for. Please, please please. I say NO and NO. There are avenues to be followed..

There is parliament and there are the law courts. Raila can be a better reformer from the opoosition benches as he has proved to be.

    Please no!

  9. There are more peaceful means to carry out a revolution. Just place a vote of no confidence on the first day. Raila needs to be a statesman!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Let the Kenyans come out in droves. We must prove once and for all that our democratci process will never be subverted by self-seeking leaders...men who have no regard for the rule of law.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Where are the religous leaders? Where is a statesman when you need one? Didn't Ngilu call Raila the next Mandela? Someone needs to reach out to ODM Pentagon and appeal for a saner means to register a protest!

check out that link from ft. the observers are very much aware of what's happened. inspite of what PNU kleptocrats are saying elsewhere, even the american ambassador has said in not so subtle terms that the ECK was at best incompetent and at worst compromised.

i am really really sad that the greed of 30 kenyans has left the society of 30 million kenyans tettering on the brink at the mo.

  13. Raila is setting himselF up For some serious charges - sedition, treason etc. he is playing into the hands OF the govt and they will have the legal basis to go aFter him.

This is NOT the way to go. In this case dawa ya moto SI moto! Real People, with Real children, with Real husbands/wives are dying. This is no longer theoretic. Emotions should not run over like this. parallel govt will not solve anything.
Oh My God, Our beloved country will not crumble, It will NOT!

  14. I too am a supporter of ODM and I campaigned for Raila in Europe but I think that this is very ill-advised.
We now have all the necessary ingredients for a civil war. Please call this thing off and we shall protest through the right channels.
I have a question though, how will my kikuyu brothers who support change join the peaceful protests, which i hope will take place, when they fear for their lives?
Please shun tribalism, some luos too voted for kibaki, will they be lynched? will Tuju be lynched?
Please stop the violence now! How will the The foolish dinosaurs we call leaders be able to sleep tonight with all the blood on their hands? bastards!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wait a minute, how about we have a re-run?

Whoever asked about the international media; 'we' hardly ever get any airtime till its too late.

  16. The coup is what Kibaki staged. Raila is merely following the constitution. After winning, he should be sworn in. That's what is normal practice. Let the people come out, swear in their president, and send him to the state house.

    ReplyDelete
  17. KIBAKI IS AFRICAS NEW MUGABE. A DICTATOR. ENOUGH SAID

    ReplyDelete
  18. Let the rule of Law prevail. If Raila really cared about Kenyans he will not be making such a move. But it’s a democracy; if he wants to go down that route, that’s his choice. He will have blood on his hands. Kenyans have decided. There will be no meeting tomorrow. Its all a sham.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Can something get into Raila's heads with all the brains around him and tell him not to follow that route please. He is loved and now, Kenya will not be the same. I beleive that we shall (I am sure of this) see bodybags inb the streets of Nairobi. Sure.

Phil and gang. Please tell Raila this is the wrong move. It will cause more harm to his reputation and the Kaleos will not forgive hime.

The Defenec Council met this evening. Bwana, they might do what I always brag I will never see in life, a bloody Kenya. Let politics stay out of this.

In the meantime, Kenyans prepare for the worst. If it happens.

  20. For those who think Kibaki can be removed through impeachment then think about this. Our MPs can't be trusted, they will be bough easily by the Kibaki. As for the courts, it is controlled by Kibaki and even if we assume they are impartial, it can take almost five years. So the only way according to me is for people to come out en masse and peacefully ask for their rights. But Old guard Michuki will certainly ask for them to be shot as he already did in Kisumu where according to BBC, so far 5 have being killed. It is not about peace only, it is about a FAIR peace, about our right to decide for our future. What guarantee do I have that my vote will count in 2010 even if I have to renege n it this time? Afterall, it is this same old greedy guards.

  21. Sweet Jesus, please no!

    ReplyDelete
  22. There are rumors that the pentagon members are under house arrest. Is that true?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Derek,

No freedom was ever won without blood. If kibaki insists on leading a nation that's rejected him, ata kiona chamtemakuni.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just heard that Raila and Ruto have been arrested. We are on slippery slope to anarchy. Someone please do something!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Makosa Imefanyika, two wrongs do not make a right, ther are peaceful avenues that Raila can follow, this is hooliganism and the police will do their job. They have done that before. If Raila has majority of MP's under ODM he needs to convince very few to get the number to oust Kibaki from parliament in a peaceful way. I am not advising anyone not to go to Uhuru park but to think the impact of unconstitutional move with no legal basis. Kibaki has been worn in, we cannot have two presidents, the other has other means. Kivuitu did his part, i fell bad for him, he must have been in unfamiliar waters all along and he passed the message clearly there are other avenues that can be pursued.

  26. raila has been arrested and put in detention - unconfirmed

    ReplyDelete
  27. My fellow kenyans, the swearing in tommorow at UHURU park WILL NOT HAPPEN. THIS IS ALL KUMEKUCHA PROP. THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE A MEETING. WHATEVER IT IS, RAILA WILL NOT BE LOOKING TO BE SWORN IN.
ON THE CONTRARY, I WILL NOT BE SURPRISED IF THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS. I HOPE IT WILL.

    God bless Kenya

  30. look guys change will not come from guys cowering behind closed doors just coz some 30 odd neo-colonial kleptos are threatening to use the state's monopoly of violence to justify their stealing of people's birth-right!

if you think things are better the way they are right now or that they are going to get better somehow then they are underestimating the utter frustration kenyans have had pent up in them for the last 40 or so years. did you not see pictures of maasai and kalenjin women weeping yesterday saying they've been cheated! people have suffered for so long and wanted a clean break. and they went ahead and effected it thro' the electoral process only to be made mugs of.

no. whether they go to uhuru park tomorrow or not, the kenya as we knew it before the elections is gone. forever. things will never be the same again i tell you. lives will be lost in nakuru, molo, mombasa....whether raila takes people to uhuru park or not.

something for the apologists to think about.....

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is the classic catch 22. There are very few means for this to be resolved:

    1. The court - By past history, this is unlikely to work
    2. Parliament vote of no confidence by ODM - Kibaki can easily deploy a campaign of divide and rule against the ODM by appointing the MP's to cabinet or buying them off.
    3. Reaching out accross the political divide agreeing on a consesus. This is unlikely with the likes of Michuki ordering a shoot to kill order and ODM Pentagon refusing to give in.
    4. Religous leaders can mediate - Are they courageous enough to do this?
    5. A peaceful Ukraine style Orange revolution uprising - But this is unlikely to remain peaceful with Michuki intent to protect Kibaki at all costs

Christ, God help us. We need a savior and a hero to rise up!

  32. I'm very glad most of you guys are fighting online, many having lived abroad for tens of years. Hope Kenyans in Kenya can and will do something sensible for themselves.

  33. Hapana Sam,

raila will not be killed. Fidel will not be killed and any person who dies, I am sure Raila Odinga will not attend the funeral. We cant go that way now.

sam me and you have learned away in peaceful countries. We envy some of the things we see. PLease, while I respect your position on this, I dont agree that RAO should take us through that cascade of anarchy

KENYA WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.

  35. Just a thought to all of us: How did we gain the multiparty democracy that Kibaki has taken away today? Blood was shed and it came that way. Look at the history in the existence of mankind. You will never achieve a good cause through staying indoors or 'peaceful means'. It is like you telling us that our independence heroes like Didan Kimathi should not have fought the British and instead should have asked for the British to leave Kenya through 'the courts'. Believe it or not, agree or disagree, Kibaki is as it stands now worse than the colonial powers.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Does this mean that Kenya is gonna break back down into all those interzone/tribal clashes we used to have before. we are living in other countries but still are frustrated. Imagine what those guys are feeling now on top of the poverty and other hardships

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kenyans, 44 years of a fight for democracy can't be snatched from us tukiangalia hivi. I'm far away but if need be, I will drop everything and come home to fight for my country. Kibaki anacheza.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Kenyans have been through difficult times and this is no stranger. In an election, there is a winner and a loser. A Full audit of all the 210 constituencies will need to be carried out under full media coverage as requested by Raila. Calls for calm will need to be ushered from both sides of the political divide as the process is done. It is a great country, let democracy prevail.

    ReplyDelete
  39. If Raila and Ruto have been arrested then we are already in dire straits, and whether this rally happens can no longer alter the path we are going down.

Kibaki is creating martyrs. I am one of those who always thought Kibaki was okay, he was just surrounded by some questionable people. Now I am forced to accept the truth of the saying that one is known by the company they keep.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Kibaki knew bout the rigging. I believe that if he had asked the rigging to stop that would have concealed it a little bit. Did he actually believe that he was gonna come clean??

  41. Raila needs to stay in prison...he is ODM--One DANGEROUS MAN...we dont need u Raila. Sisi wajaluo have been misled by FOOLISH leaders. TUJU JUU

    ReplyDelete
  42. THIS IS NOT TRIBAL, ITS NOT ABOUT RAILA ITS ABOUT WHAT RIGHTFULLY BELONGS TO KENYANS. A DOOR HAS BEEN OPENED AND IF IT IS NOT CLOSED, WHO SAYS IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN IN 2012? AND EVEN IF A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE GOES THROUGH, WHO SAYS (PRESIDENT)MICHUKI WILL HAND OVER POWER. IF IT DOES NOT HAPPEN NOW IT WILL HAPPEN DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS TO BE DEALT WITH NOW. THE WAZEES HAVE TO BE TOLD TO GO

    ReplyDelete
  43. I can assure you Kibaki is NOT in control! This is all Michuki's work!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mr. Rarieda dala, you are ignorant. Raila is President-Elect. We'll swear him in tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Rarieda dala... grow up, its not about Raila or your Tuju anymore

    ReplyDelete
  46. Poor kikuyus. They are gonna be on the recieving end of alot of animosity. I hate to be tribal but thats the word. Non violent non violent

    ReplyDelete
  47. We all need to say a prayer for Kenya.
This is not the time for political prisoners as there WILL BE NO POLITICAL PRISONERS UNDER THE current climate.
the rule of democracy cannot be ignored. Those who insight violence or support it do not value this great country.

I urge Kenyans to excercise restrain and set an example to other countries.

I am sure we will prevail.

  48. anaweza @ 11.39

that is exactly what i am saying. history tells us the path kibaki and co chose to take automatically elicits particular reactions! it is not about what raila or ruto do now believe you me! that sense of 'oneness' that bound people together-however weak it was- has been broken to be replaced by 'them and us' attitude and feelings of persecution and second class citizenry. that is something any sane kenya will feel regardless of what the pentagon do.

let them go and arrest them. it's just plain silly in this day and age. the cold war ended long time ago (not that i expect the michukis to recognize the relevance of that). no western government is going to prop them up. so we will to deal with this internally- the only way that is possible with them taking advantage of their control of agencies of violence and the citizens reacting. people here were talking of bloodshed should we go to uhuru park. well-kibaki has just sanctioned it with these arrests.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Kumekucha,
I know there is press freedom in Kenya but your blogs are bordering on treason. I can understand your anger but I think we need sanity more than ever before. You seem to be advocating for civil unrest and civil unrest you might get. If you get a chance, please peruse the photographs of those rioting and tell me whether they look like the middle class. If they dont, ask yourselve where the middle class is and tell the poor and downtrodden to save their skins. Whether its Raila, Kibaki or Muiru, I do not see much changing for the poor in the short run and they should be looking for ways of getting out of poverty instead of fighting proxy wars for the rich and the middle class. The middle class cant wait for the skirmishes to be over in order to buy Safaricom, build houses in Eldoret, Athi river and Nakuru and take their children to good and highly priced boarding schools.
If you care for Kenya, ask Raila to use other means of occupying State House other than inciting the poor to attend a massacre at Uhuru Park. ODM has in its ranks, good, experienced and competent legal brains and it is time He made use of them. Have you seen Njonjo on any street? What about Rachier?

It is the aftermath of a bravely fought election and a gloriously won fight. Now, the next step is to make kenya what it is a beacon of peace and the hub of economic properity in East Africa.

In short, Kazi iendelee na ionekane ikiendelea

  62. Hi. I would like to appeal first and foremost to all 'kumekuchans' to remain as we have always been. Calm and level headed. There is simply no other way out of this madness. There is blame on both sides for sure. ODM had inculcated in their supporters the beleif that they were to win and to lose meant they had been rigged. Thus their approach was that the only way the elections could be free and fair were if they won. Whats the point of an election then? Meanwhile PNU used a 'blunderbuss' approach to elections and poltics in the same vein. The last minute planning, and execution was absolutley useless .This has contributed greatly to where we are now. The proof. How many top PNU m ade it back. But this is neither here nor there. I plead with kenyans to forgive each other. Show me one persoin who does not do wrong? In life we will be both 'victims' and 'victimised'. what we need of each other is understanding. We can all blame kivuitu.. But truth be told. even polls said that with him there there was little chance of rigging? And we still went to the polls confident enough that the ECK would get the job done satisfactorily. We were wrong. Ultimately though. I ask all of us to seek ways that we can find a middle ground for both sides. Neither will give it all up and the people of kenya, Wananchi will be the ones to pay the price. Please my brothers and sisters. Confrontation and violence will only take us backwards. I hope ODM will not take that route even though I can see clearly where they are coming from. PNU please extend the olive branch. If kenya burns you will doubtless burn with it. Where is marianne she warned us.........

    ReplyDelete
  63. No, Ms Okello, I respect and understand the concerns you have very well. But ma'am dont you thin it takes two to tango? Dont you think Raila unfairly brought to disrepute the integrity of the electoral process by letting criminals like Ruto take over Kivuitu's role. That is the worst form of rigging Hellen!

Am not quite sure what my mother has got to do with this.

From a psychological point of view, its either you benefited from the corruption to refuse to be objective and always in defence of kibaki or
you have some personal issues you projecting on mainly raila and others.

The choice is yours, am amongst many that sees something is wrong with you and belief some around you may too have pointed that.

As I write this many innocent lives and hard earned property are being lost in the rural Rift Valley and other parts while the Kibaki and his allies prepare to enjoy the powers of state. This is not right! He should talk to the opposition or else many people will lose their lives and property and this will lead to many dire consequences never seen before due to ripple effect and cause- reaction scenarios. Guns cannot pacify a people who think that votes were topped up to ensure legitimacy of a prefered canditate!
