Kumekucha Latest Polls

Compare these estimates to the actual election results

Raila - 67%

Kalonzo Musyoka - 17%

Mwai Kibaki - 15%

These are my findings and a reflection of exactly what the situation is like on the ground. Kindly restrain yourself for a few days and then make your comments after the 27th as the results are trickling in.

The big surprise is the big margin Raila is expected to win with and the other is Kalonzo Musyoka defeating Kibaki.

Interestingly if you check the so-called NSIS figures tied to voter turn out they are some similarities assuming high voter turn out.

What the opposition need to be very careful about is the fact that PNU and the Kibaki think tank are now playing a game of pure mathematics in a last gasp attempt to win the elections. Meaning that the higher the voter turn out in President Kibaki’s strongholds, the bigger a chance he has of somehow stealing these elections from Raila.Naturally the lower a turn out in Raila's strongholds the better for PNU.

Internal Security minister John Michuki has directed chiefs to identify sickly, elderly and disabled voters with a view of providing transport for them to go and vote. Michuki even suggested that whistles be used to wake up people on the 27th so that they go out and vote.

Naturally certain tactics will be used in ODM strongholds to limit the number of people who will vote. The whole process can be deliberately slowed down with voting starting late. There can be deliberate shortages of ballot papers etc.

If the NSIS figures are to be believed then this is very serious business and the election can be won or lost by PNU totally based on voter turn out. And if you were PNU you would use every trick in the book would you not?

  1. Well we are suffering from numbers fatigue and can't wait for Dec 27. True numbers don't lie but people who use them do lie. Because I don't know what sampling scheme you used I won't agree nor dispute your figures. Fingers crossed this is the last Monday outside the ballot week. Na bado.

  2. Woi woi Chris watakumaliza this time!!! You should have posted this on Dec 28th. This time you will get like a 101 comments on this post alone and 50-60% will be talking about RAO and not the polls.

Interesting though wacha tungojee 27th with our single votes may the best Man or Woman win.

  6. Disclaimer! The 70% of the respondents hail from UK, and the consultant(read Chris) suffers from selective amnesia when Kibaki's name is mentioned.

  7. Now why do you want some people to commit suicide prematurely? Wait for the results to turn out that way and then you wont be blamed for any of the suicides that are sure to come with the fall of the thankless knight and his mineons.

  11. No, lemmie tell you something and please put it down in your notebook. Raila Odinga will not win any election in Kenya. I am willing to be judged by what I say; Raila Odinga will NEVER be president of Kenya as long as Kenya continues to be a democracy.

The ODM as a party,as well as its friendly media houses like The Standard, KTN and Kumekucha have deliberately chosen to continue to hammer-in the fallacy that Raila already has an unassailable lead and that he can only lose these elections in the presence of massive rigging. This is all meant to intimidate their opponents and especially the PNU. The idea is to program the minds of their supporters who are in my opinion the most excitable bunch of party members the world has ever known, that nothing short of victory is acceptable. It is meant to make it easy for these restless "jimpy jumpies" to flood the streets the moment Raila Odinga loses the election. The fact that the US and the UK are uncomfortable with Kibaki (Of course for absolutely obvious reasons)will be a huge encouragement to these ODM fellows to be on the rampage claiming the elections were rigged. Now that is a very dangerous and risky affair for them because there will be death, embarassment and a waste of time. You cannot intimidate anybody to surrender a genuinely achieved electoral victory.

Anybody with half a brain will acknowledge that Mwai Kibaki sets off with 33% of the vote(GEMA). All he neeeds to win the election is 20% of the vote in Nyanza, Western, Coast,N. Eastern, Ukambani, North Rift and South rift. This is something pollsters like Kumekucha and Jerry Okungu know very well hence their sustained claim that you cannot win in five provinces(Whoever said Nairobi will go the ODM way is a liar)and lose over all. Like I said, this is dangerous for the country, it is dangerous to those who believe it and it is dangerous for democracy.

  13. Interesting interesting.even during referudum when all other tribes voted againt kikuyus the stats were different.let's wait and see.methinks this propanganda by ODM minded media is meant to brainwash the raila hooligans and make them run to the streets if raila loses.from standard I'd expect coz they have a grudge but from kumekucha?dint expect but its time for our raw tribal instinicts to reign so go figure.
God save kenyan because we are living in dangerous times.
Kumekucha there is life after the election just remember!

  14. Vikii, if that is so, how come even Kikuyu outlets like Nation, Steadman,Consumer Insight, Capital FM have Raila leading for 14 straight weeks?

    ReplyDelete
  15. 33%, eh? Now if only the PNU pointmen shared your optimism Vikii. The truth is that Kibaki's presidency hanging by an increasingly flimsy thread. He'll be lucky to get 30% when the counting is done - even assuming my clansman KM gets no votes. You are in for a rude surprise Vikii, come 28th Dec :).

    Registered voters

  16. [Chris: I apologize for commenting on a comment but I simply could not help myself. I took Vickii's bait.]

    Vickii:

If there is one thing, just one thing, that Kibaki supporters should have learned in the last 2 years it is that Raila Odinga is eminently electable. (In Texas Mexicans say "Remember the Alamo" in Kenya it is "Remember the Referendum".)

It is unheard of for an incumbent anywhere to be on the back foot so close to a general election. Mwai Kibaki is in this situation because of the poor advice from chauvinistic Kikuyu wazee who are still mis-advising him in his kitchen cabinet.

Your words acquire an interesting aspect of humor when we realize that Raila is the challenger. How on earth can a challenger "intimidate" an incumbent who has all the government machinery at his beck an call? (GSU, Michuki's helicopters etc etc).

I hope you are in Nairobi Vickii. If so please get out of your car or office and walk around. Interact with the mwananchi. ODM rules Nairobi. Believe it. At this stage PNU has given up trying to capture the parliament, they are solely focused on the presidential race. [As an aside, even if ODM did not "rule" Nairobi, in any given constituency there is one (or max 2) Raila-friendly candidate, same for Kalonzo, yet there are 10+ Kibaki-friendly candidates. How do you think the vote will be split?]

Finally on to your vote tallying. MK will certainly get the bulk of the (and I'll accept your number) 33% GEMA vote, which will give him 25% in Central and possibly Eastern. He will also without doubt get 25% in Nairobi. That is 3 provinces for certain. Two probables are Rift Valley (last I checked it was still one province) due to the Kikuyu vote there and some (a minority) of the Kalenjin & Maasai/Samburu vote and Nyanza (Kisii Nyanza - MK will get less than 2% in Luo Nyanza). Possibles are Western. Not likelies are North Eastern and Coast.

If on the other hand you are saying that RAO will not win because you are clued into some underhanded rigging that will take place, then shame on you and your coconspirators. The last thing Kenya needs is unfair elections.

  17. Vikii, is the barmaid near you and your friends. Kindly get a drink of your choice and let me settle the bill later.

Vikii, I am worried about the election. I have oiled my absorbers and expecyting anything worse.

Butyou are spot on Vikii. I cannot say it in any other way. Kibaki will start with more than 30% that is Wanjiku in hospital, Kamau in Nakuru, the Ameru and then the Runyenjes.

Then, give him the Abagussi (they will follow Nyachae-no doubt) and Moi will give him the rest, at least he needs just a few from his sons and Trans Nzoia will wrap up Rift Valley. Then the Mijikenda will go shares with Raila and Kalonza and what next, Nairobi.

Read this 'The ballot papaer will be transported by Kenya Air Force planes from Eastleigh Airbase, gurded by police, delivered to the DC' and who is incharge of PNU logistics Major General Waweru, then you get the real thing.

To support Vikii, Raila will never be elected prersident of Kenya. Unless it the the Bondo CDF committee.

This is for you: A sycophant (Gr. συκοφάντης) is a servile person who, acting in their own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential people, with an undertone that this is at the cost of their own personal pride, principles, and peer respect.

Pause for a second and reread your statements...you sound very emotional and Kenya needs objective people. We need people who can debate on merits...PKW is a PNU supporter but she doesn't seem as emotional as you...

i think the journalism bug has hit you too hard to the point of publishing alarming (to PNU) polls to elicit strong reactions (from PNU). Can you please make it easier for us (we in ODM) by being a bit scientific by elaborating on your methodology, sampling method, sample quantity and provincial (or is it slums) breakdown.

All Kenyans know that bar for dirty tricks Raila will be President-elect on Dec. 27th slightly after 7pm when the results start trickling in randomly from polling stations countrywide! On 28th there will be isukuti dancers on Nairobi streets and celebratory gun-shots in eastleigh!

  24. I read that from a writer with Nairobi Star... Yvonee, Sue and obviously Phil, read on... Then Kazi iendelee...

A Serving African President and a former one, top local businessmen, foreign consultants, major companies and political parties, top the list of contributors to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) according to a document exclusively obtained by Abunuwasi.com

Immediate former Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo, a son to Libyan Head of State Seif al-Islam Gaddafi former Attorney General Charles Njonjo, former retired President Daniel Moi aide Joshua Kulei, Adopt a light propreitor Esther Passaris, Kamlesh Pattni and several politicians make up the list of 72 organizations and individuals who have been bankrolling ODM.

Also named in the report leaked by an insider who sought anonymity, are a number of leading local and international companies which include CMC motors, CFC bank, the UK based Land Rover group, Margret Wanjiru's Jesus Is Alive Ministries (JIAM), Pastor Gilbert Deya and his Gilbert Deya Congregation , a leading supermaket chain and a Canadian based Oil executive among others.

According to a consolidated Statement of Financial activities, addressed to Party National Treasurer Omingo Magara, from the desk of Shakeel Shabbir in the Campaign Resourses Accounting section and dated Friday 9th November, Pentagon members William Ruto, Raila Odinga, Joe Nyaga, Najib Balala and Musalia Mudavadi contributed a combined total of Shs.46.5m between them.

With Raila's Specter International holdings and Associates giving Shs.12.5m, Mudavadi contributes 12.5m, Balala parted with Shs.8m, Ruto 10m and Nyaga 3.5m. Jesus is Alive Ministries (JIAM) wrote a cheque worth Shs. 25m.

Former Nigerian President Olesugun Obasanjo, Charles Njonjo and Pastor Gilbert Deya wired Shs.25m each to the ODM account, while Oil Baron Tony Buckingham who owns 30 percent of Canadian Heritage Corpration gave Shs.17m.

Interestingly the American consultant who raised a furore of criticism Dick Morris contributed Shs.21.3m to finance his free services and even in the income list we obtained his contributions are entered as Dick Morris and Associates pro-bono services.

A cheque worth Shs.50,000 by a group listed as DRC support group had their cheque returned. Friends of Senator Barack Obama contributed Shs. 66m.Gadaffi's son Seif Al-Islam added Shs. 53.45m to the account.

Controversial businessmen Kamlesh Pattni, the Kamani family and Anura Pereira each of them associated with the country's top two financial scams - goldenberg and Angloleasing - gave Shs. 13.5m, Shs. 45m and Shs.107m respectivelly.

Other major contributors include Nakumatt Supermarket holdings (Shs. 26m), Tony Texeira (Shs. 21.5m), Joshua Kulei (39m), Bosco Gichana (Shs. 3.5m), Esther Pasarris (Shs.1m),Henry Kosgey (Shs.20m), William Ntimama (Shs.5m),Otieno Kajwang (Shs. 3.5m), Tata Tea Holdings (Shs.50m),Land Rover Group UK (Shs.55m), Westlands aspirant A.a.Walji (Shs.7m) and Energem Resourses inc (Shs. 52.5m).

A media personality and a radio station have also been named in the document in our possession. The total contributions by the date the document was compiled was slightly over Shs 1.7b.

The eight page document prepared as an executive brief on the "Positioning and Marketing of the Orange Democratic Movement and the People's President -Hon.Raila A.Odinga" was prepared by the party core strategy team made up of Professors Peter A.Nyong'o, Edward Oyugi Akongo, Patrick Wanyande, Larry Gumbe and Adams Oloo also outlines a three month campaign strategy by the party and a SWOT analysis on its Presidential candidate.

Though we have the entire strategy in our possession we will not publish its contents in the interest of fair play and to encourage standard political party competition.

However, we can report parts of the strategy that have already taken place - top among them the whirlwind tour of Europe and The United States of America by Raila Odinga shortly after winning the ODM Presidential nominations in September.

The aim according to the strategy team was to "starve" the country of Raila and create euphoria "similar to Kenneth Matiba's in 1992 and Mwai Kibaki in 2002."

Reads the document, " as earlier agreed, in order that our candidate's campaign commence with impact, it is necessary that he exit Kenya to lay foundation for a grand home-coming...a lengthy abscence will starve the country of Hon. Raila and stimulate an outpouring of adoration that will take us to victory."

On funding the document documents various pledges from at least seven countries in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. " (The Party should) tap into pledged funding from external donors including teh Federal Republic of Nigeria, Germany, The United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Venezuela, Libya, DRC Congo, as well as individuals and causes such as GTZ Network, Cyril Ramaphosa, the Deya Ministries and US republicans among others.

Expenses on the campaign trail include Pentagon allowances (Shs.89m), Raila Odinga expense (Shs. 148m), fund raising costs which was costed at Shs 25.8m, pre-nomination rallies cost the party shs.165m, while the party spent Shs. 214m to have their presidential nomination at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, and the consequent parliamentary ones, Propaganda projections stood at Shs.68.5m.

Other expenses include training (Shs. 23m), production of the party manifesto (Shs.76m), hire of vehicles and choppers cost Shs. 320m, while Shs.75 million is spent on advertising.

  25. Ati Kibaki 15%? Do you live in Kenya? From which planet did you do your so-called sampling? Saturn? Jupiter?
I have noticed a disturbing tendency to peddle falsehoods in this blog ala Joseph Goebbels all in the name of campaigning for ODM.You even pretend to be a Nationalist when you are in fact a dyed-in-the-wool anti-Kikuyu bigot. However, all the falsehoods in the world will not change the reality that Kibaki is very probably coming back to office, especially after it was revealed that the pollsters of Infotrak and Strategic have been working for the ODM campaign all along.
For your information, your contention that Kibaki will get 15% of the vote assumes that even in his GEMA backyard, he will get maybe 10 - 12% of the vote. You are disregarding the fact that he would also get votes from other parts of the country. Even lying requires intelligence, not this kind of infantile stupidity. You can campaign for Raila by all means. It is your right to do so, but please do not take other Kenyans for fools. The GEMA block vote from Mt Kenya and the daispora in Kenya is 35 - 40% of all registered voters. Check past elections. If Kibaki would be getting 10 - 12% overall, to whom would 28 - 30% of that vote be going to? Raila? Even you don't believe that. You and ODM need to stop this self defeating and unconvincingly futile self delusion and cease manufacturing facts. You need to "get out of your arrogant bunker mentality".
That is the latest political catchphrase if you didn't know.

Ofcourse for PNU guys, winning is not as heroic as ODM guys, simply because we are a bit indipendent of the 'govt' of the day individually. If the ODM wins, may all the problems of Nyanza be burried in the sea of forgetfulness and a bit of wealth be taken from Central Province and distributed to other areas as a sign of equity and good governance by ODM. Chris could be as stupid as the figures he has published. Kwani? The figures are stupid! I pity the ODM fellows whose egos are hightened by such stupid and illogical figures. Chris, switch the figures for RAO and MK(MK 67% and RAO 15%) so that the ODM goofs can have a bite of reality that RAO is a likely looser like any other candidate in a democratic election.
