Kalonzo Paints Nairobi Orange

Grass in the historic Uhuru Park will need a long spell of irrigation to recuperate from the stampede it has suffered the last two weekends. Kalonzo's of his presidential bid saw a mammoth that appear to have even surprised him and his confidants thus his divine intonation.

The 'clean' speeches at Kalonzo's rally leaves PNU with both eggs and tomatoes gracing eggs of its leaders. A part from 'civilized' jibes at his opponents brother Musyoka kept fidelity with the narrow and discussed policies with scanty concentration on personalities. And that is the way to go in nurturing an infant democracy like ours.

But the bonanza was not devoid of sparks. It saw nominated MP Esther Keino making her 'debut' speech in five years. The weight in her 90 seconds speech lies in its symbolism rather than substance. At least she had the forum to claim a stake in Belgut seat. One is left wondering whether she has finally unzipped her upper lips as a prerequisite for politicking. We can only wish her all the best.

Flora Tera also caused her verbal terror in declaring herself the acting MP for Imenti North. And with that she added the gender feather and flare to symbolism. Regardless of the magnitude of these two catches for Kalonzo, they are pricey all the same.

The huge attendance at Kalonzo's launch may be considered a harbinger of good luck. It may be the icing on the political competition cake Kenyans have been yearning for. I have no evidence that the number in attendance were manipulated but if the crowd were to translate into proportionate votes then you only ignore the MP for Mwingi North at your own political peril.

Bahari MP Joe Hamisi was so carried away to an extent of claiming that a million Kenyans were in attendance. Not to be left behind in the excitement was Mutula Kilonzo who chided Steadman to come and count so as to disabuse itself of the 8% ranking on their boss.

Generally yesterday's rally was a great success that may be a pointer of the gruelling battle for State House. None of the candidates is leaving anything to chance lest they slip irreparably. Even if that means temporarily transforming a rally into a religious crusade. The art of spicing speeches with religious overtones can actually work political 'miracles'. Steve knows his strength and why not particularly on a Sunday? And the race begin in earnest.

May the best candidate win devoid of cheating and God bless Kenya

  1. And pray can somebody tell me why a self-declared-clean-presidential candiadate would want to announce to the whole world that he has blessings from one Gideon Moi? And then with the same breath proceed to tell us he shall bring back our money stashed away in foregin land??? I shudder

  2. The uhuru park crowd on a sunday is no suprise - what do broke idlers (majority of nairobians and kenyans at large) do on a sunday afternoon? Attend a gig - kwanza a free one bila entrance fee

  3. THE SINS OF RAILA

    1. RAILA IS NOT A TEAM PLAYER
Fact: The Moi team players were very successful
    (Moi team players = Goldenberg)

The Kibaki team players have been mildly successful
(Kibaki team players = Anglo Leasing)

If team playing is Goldenberg or Anglo Leasing, then we need a presidential candidate who is not a team player.

The "NO!" referendum campaign led by Odinga was a manifestation of the greatest team play in Kenya history. Who is not a team player?

    2. RAILA'S ADVENTURES LED TO INNOCENT DEATHS IN 1982
Fact: The 1982 coup attempt was crushed. The 1952 Mau Mau insurrection was crushed. But the two events, though they led to the loss of many innocent live s led to a great dawn. August 1, 1982 should be looked at not as a ONE DAY aberration, but as a defining moment when arms were raised against the rape of a nation. It is time we stood proud and honoured the fallen heroes of 1982. The real villain was Moi and his "team". Section 2A, the constitutional amendment that made Kenya a "legal" one party dictatorship was passed in 1982.

    3. RAILA CALLS EVERY SMALL INVESTOR A DRUG DEALER
Fact: The Arturs are neither small, nor investors. The Arturs are thugs. The Arturs are con-men. The Arturs are mercenaries. It is a crime to even think of whitewashing the shame that is the Arturs. Let's identify these "small investors" by their true label.

    4. RAILA IS A BRASH IMPATIENT MAN
Fact: Every real Kenyan is impatient, quick & decisive. That is why foreign companies prefer employing Kenyans in their subsidiary companies in Uganda , Tanzania , etc. We don't want a leader who sleeps even while "his wife romps at night, trading punches with journalists in the newsrooms."

    5. RAILA WILL LEAD KENYA INTO A RWANDA AND A CONGO
Fact: The Mt Kenya's Mungiki ... Nyachae's Red Shukas, chinkororo, etc. This the kind of stuff that leads to a Rwanda or a Congo . Raila has a national following. He does not need a militia. And Kenyans are too wise to allow their country to degenerate into an anarchy.

    LEST WE FORGET ...
Section 2A, the constitutional amendment that made Kenya a "legal" one party dictatorship was passed in 1982.

Charles Njonjo proposed it in Parliament.
Mwai Kibaki seconded the infamous motion.

    Who is the real anti-democrat?

    VOTE WISELY!!!!
